GS70 Stealth Pro won't boot UEFI after setting up Raid 0

I just recently acquired a GS70 Stealth Pro, which came with only 1 128gb msata ssd. i picked up two more, put them in, for a total of 3 128gb ssd's, and have since enabled raid 0. upon doing so (and restoring an image i took with acronis) my laptop will now boot directly to BIOS when UEFI boot is on. If i change it to Legacy, the laptop boots fine, first to intel rapid storage, then to the OS. r/w speeds are around 1k and 500, and everything says that the raid volume is enabled. is there an issue with being on legacy instead of UEFI? and what exactly is the difference?

It seems like your system is installed under Legacy mode which doesn't allow you to boot up under UEFI mode.
You'll need to re-install the system under UEFI mode to do so. I'd suggest to use the MSI BurnRecovery to create the Recovery disks and recover the system under UEFI mode.
People share that the most obvious difference between Win8 Legacy and Win8 UEFI is the boot up time, but I've never tried it on the GS70 model.

  • MacBook Pro won't boot up after Lion upgrade

I upgraded my 13" macbook pro to lion last night. I watched some movies until the battiery died. Now it won't boot up. Indicator light does not come on and it makes no noise. Battery indicator says it's full. Any suggestions?

MBP's are very finicky about RAM. Most of us here will recommend Crucial or OWC as the best source. If I were you I'd put the original RAM back in and see if the problem goes away. If so, return what you just bought and buy from one of the vendors I mentioned.

  • System won't boot from Windiws XP boot disk after setting up RAID 0 array???

After connecting my two Western Digital Raptor on SATA ports 1 and 2, and finally being able to launch the Bios option ROM "Intel SATA Raid manager" (had some problems associated with an LSI 4i megaRAID adapter in a pci slot), I was able to put the two disks in RAID 0. After exiting the Raid manager, the DMI pool was updated, and I was expecting the computer to boot from the XP installation boot disk in the optical drive. Instead I got the message: "Disc boot failure. Insert system disc and press enter.". This is very strange, as I installed XP earlier with the Raptors functioning as IDE drives without a problem (so IDE was selected in the BIOS for SATA drives instad of SATA as in this case). As a result I am unable to install Windows XP (professional).
    My system configuration:
    Motherboard: Platinum power up edition
    Bios version: W72461MSv7.3
    CPU: Intel Core2Duo 6700
Memory: Corsair, 2 GB in matched pair DDR 2, now on 2 volts
Harddrives: 2 western digital raptors of 150 GB in RAID 0
Optical drives: LITE-ON DVD-rewriter and reader from same brand (also DVD)
    PSU: Corsair 620 Watt
Now removed: LSI Megaraid 4i adapter (pci) with 4 Samsung spinpoint harddrives of 4 in raid 5
    XP professional
Boot sequence: CDROM, floppy and harddisk in this order
    BIOS settings:
    USB keybooard and mouse disabled
JMB361 option rom disabled (not using it)
Onboard lan boot rom disabled (not using it)
    Sata mode set to RAID
All other settings "optimal" using F7 in BIOS
Usinf F11 during startup doesn't help: the CDROM is not displayed in SATA mode, only floppy and harddisk.
Using Microsoft XP professional boot floppy's did'nt help either. System restarted after loading first floppy (ther are 6 in total), and no result.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

  • MacBook Pro won't boot up after updating to Lion

I just updated my MacBook Pro to Lion. After install restart the computer is stuck on the white screen with the apple logo and spinning wheel. I manually restarted it after 1 hour but that didn't solve the issue. What do I do? Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

That sounds like the case.  Good Luck.
    check this link:
    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Lion+boot+disk
there is a ton of information, step by step.  I am sure there is probably something here in these forumns on creating the boot disk.
Again I would start with a clean install of Lion off of the boot disk you create.
FYI I started with Snow Leopard time machine backups updated, then cloned my existing drive to a FW drive before installing.  During the work day and in IT, It was a savior to target boot from the firewire drive to address employee needs when I was having Lion lock up issues from the initial install.
Wipe and install clean so far so good.  No lock ups.  And USB flash install was super fast.  Then brought my apps over, or re-installed.  This way everything was clean.

  • Macbook Pro won't boot OSX after Yosemite upgrade 10.10.3

I downloaded the update to 10.10.3 this morning before driving my daughter to daycare. When I came back, my Macbook Pro had rebooted into Windows 7 (Boot Camp). I restarted it by telling it to reboot to OSX, but it boots Windows again. If I turn it off completely, and then turn it on again, there's no chime... just a black screen for about 30 seconds, followed by "Starting Windows". I'm about to reboot to try resetting NVRAM and SMC, but I don't know if that's going to work without the chime...
I really need OSX to get going, so any help appreciated.

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

    Hi,
i reinstalled Windows 8.1 and now the boot time is notoriulsy longer, from almost instantaneously to 5-6 seconds. I know isn't too long, but annoyed me coming from 1-2 seconds.
Fast Boot is activated in Bios and same for fast startup in Windows...
All drivers, SCM and firmwares are updated.
    Any ideas?

actually fast boot is not cache system but windows 8/8.1 has support for fast boot which means it doesent take long to load but if laptop powers it self off after a while when it has been in sleep mode then it goes into mode where it cache your data in RAM or something so when you power laptop back on it will say Please wait. or Resuming Windows. thats when cache system was used but if you power laptop 100% off then it does not cache anything.

macbook pro won't boot after installing update 10.9.3

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

MacBook Pro won't boot after trying to install 10.7.3 update. Start up stalls at Apple logo and spinning gear. Computer won't even start in safe mode.

My daughter's MacBook Pro was doing exactly the same thing.  I don't know if it had anything to do with the latest update.  She called me about a week ago saying that her MacBook began running slower by the day .  She then called me Friday and told me that it wouldn't get past the gray screen and the gear just kept on spinning.  I did everything I could over the phone including Safe mode which it wouldn't go into and thought maybe it was the hard drive.  She took it to the Apple store.  Originally, they also thought it was the hard drive.  It ended up being a corrupted operating system (Lion).  Apple genius simply re-installed Lion and she's back up and running.  Good thing she backed up right before it crapped out.  She'll be restoring everything tonight.  Don't know if re-installing Lion will help your situation, but it did the trick for my daughter.

Now it shows Nvidia Card as recommended, and when I close Nvidia Control Panel, and Open it again, it shows Intel Integrated as recommend, So why it Doesn't remember the settings. • [GS70 Stealth Pro] RAID 0 Volatile Volume Cache Mode configuration

I discovered that in IRST there is an option to set a cache mode for my 3 ssd raid 0 array.
I've read the documentation by Intel and have some questions:
Are there any overall benefits/risks from enabling cache mode?
As I'm on a laptop, would write back be recommended? I read it increases chance of data loss on power interruption. What is the difference between how windows handles data integrity and the intel driver?
Read only mode seems to have the benefit of faster reads, does it have any downsides?
    Thanks for your help guys!

  • Macbook pro won't boot, stuck on white apple screen

Noticed today, that my macbook pro won't boot . It gets to the white apple screen with the spinner under the apple logo. It stays like this for a long time without doing anything except spinning.
I've powered down and tried to boot up several times.
I have boot camp and windows on my mac and when the white screen appears, I can press Option to bring up which hard drive and the Windows partition will load without any problems.

Exacty what happens when you try to boot up from the disc that came with your computer?  Are you holding down the c key?  Have you tried holding down the "option key?"  Are you able to run the Hardware Test - Intel-based Macs: Using Apple Hardware Test
Shut down your computer and disconnect all peripherals (keyboard & mouse if pertinent) from your computer.  Now reboot.
If the Mac starts up normally, shut it down again and then plug in one of the peripherals (keyboard or mouse first) and start up your computer again.  If it does so successfully repeat the process, adding one peripheral at a time until your Mac acts up.  At that point, disconnect the last peripheral you added, reboot your Mac and search the peripheral vendor's website for an updated driver.
If no driver exists or the problem remain after installing the new driver, try a different cable or a different port on your Mac.
If none of the above works, again disconnect all peripherals from your Mac, hold down the "shift" key to start up in "Safe Boot" mode.
If the Mac starts up correctly, restart without pressing the "shift" key.
If your computer still does not start up properly, shut it down and restart it while holding down the Apple+Option-P-R keys; keep holding "all 4 keys" down until you hear the startup sound "twice."
If none of the above work Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
(If Disk Utility cannot repair, you will need a stronger utility (3rd party) - Diskwarrior or Techtool PRO)
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 and restart your computer.
    Remove any 3rd party ram.
Reinstall Lion - This will install a "fresh" copy of Lion without archiving old system files but leaves the rest of your files in place.
If your computer is still under warranty or you have Apple Care, take full advantage of it by letting tech support deal with your problems.  It's what you're paying them for.
Out of warranty - take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • Network Adapter not connected to the computer. (GS70 Stealth Pro 2PE)

    Hi guys, please help me.
I'm currently using a GS70 Stealth Pro 2PE. I am currently trying all means to fix my WiFi card, the Dual Band AC 7260. This has happened twice already, during the first time, I could not use WiFi at all as it says it is not connected to the computer, but after waiting for approximately for a day, it fixed itself. Which was surprisingly weird. However, it happened again after 4 months, this time, there is no way to fix it, i tried resetting the BIOS, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, updating it by my Ethernet cable- which it always says its up to date.....
I am really at a loss now.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, i have tried uninstalling the adapter and installing the one available from intel which is the wireless/proset thing. But after installing it i do not see any driver in the device manager. Only the ethernet controller is only available in the network adapter list. So it is pretty weird as in the intel website, it states that it is the driver package, but after installing it seems like a software to manage wifi or bluetooth.

Perhaps you installed the wrong version OS X onto the iMac, you can't use the disk from another Mac.
