GSM with Alarm system

I'm looking to buy an alarm system that will call and text me when the alarm is tripped.
The system has GSM service.
PPRO211GSM - Visonic Power Max Pro Kit with Built-in GSM
How do I establish a new line for this as a new line in my friends and family type account?
What do I 'put in the alarm system' to have it participate in the Verizon network?
Thanks
http://www.homesecuritystore.com/p-1822-ppro211gsm-visonic-power-max-pro-kit-with-built-in-gsm.aspx

Like Ann said, the system is based on GSM technology.  In the product description, it says:
The PPRO211GSM kit only requires a SIM card from either AT&T or Tmobile and as many prepaid minutes as you desire. The system will function and make calls so long as there are prepaid minutes available on your SIM card.
Additionally:
PLEASE NOTE: If you are looking to do MONITORING for your system, your SIM card will require a DATA PACKAGE included with the SIM card from your cellphone provider.
Verizon is based on CDMA technology, and does not use SIM cards to identify accounts and users.  The two systems are not compatible, so you would need an account with AT & T, T-Mobile, or a local GSM service provider in order for this to work for you.

  • Verizon Internet Options, wireless, work with alarm system

I live in a rural area with no DSL, cable, or landline.  I use a Verizon mifi for my home internet connection and my alarm system uses a cellular connection for my alarm monitoring system.  I am interested in upgrading my alarm system to accomomodate the remote arming/disarming features, and possibly to add some cameras but I was told that I needed an always on internet connection.  Does Verizon have an option for this?  Does anyone have any recommendations?  It would have to be Verizon service related or satellite based, as I stated there are no hard lines available.  Any help would be greatly appreciated - I know I'm not the only person with this situation so I'd be interested in what others have come up with.
    Thanks!

The only product Verizon sells which acts as an always-on service without DSL or FiOS, is Verizon Wireless HomeFusion "LTE Connected" Internet. There are data limits and it is rather expensive, especially if you rack up overages. The other option is to see if you have a WISP in your area. Or, try ordering something like a T1 and splitting that with neighbors (won't be very fast but it's 1.5Mbp/1.5Mbps).

  • GE Simon home alarm system has problem with dhcp

I have a GE Simon alarm system that instead of using a phone line connection to the monitor station uses tcpip. With my old D Link router it was fine but since changing to the WRT160NL router it seems to lose the IP that is served to it. I reset the system and it picked up 192.168.0.111 and was working ok. but within a day it somehow changes to 192.168.0.49. This happens even if i reserve an IP that is in the range of my dhcp settings. Has anyone ever heard of this issue or is anyone else using this system and it is working for them? My alarm vendor asked me first thing when I called them if I was using a linksys router. He said they always have this problem with linksys.

Thanks for your reply. That is exactly how i added it to the list. New symptom. previously i had modified the router address to 192.168.0.1 from the factory 192.168.1.1 I did this because my print server was already set to use that subnet and it was easier. When the GE system failed it went from a router assigned address of 192.168.0.106 and changed to 12.168.0.49. it was not accessable at that time. Now that I have changed the router back to the default .1.1 and set the alarm to always be a specified address, when it failed it was not accessable but on the EasyLink screen. That is where i could see that it was set to .49 before. Now it just says that it is offline. So i rebooted the GE Alarm again and it has come back up for almost a day again. One other thing that I noted is that it seemed to fail when it's lease ran out on the IP address. I set the time to 9999 and everything else in my network has gone to a 7 day time for the client release except for the GE alarm. it always comes up with less than half a day. I haven't caught it exactly when it rolls over so i am not sure about how much time but now that i have started to look it is always some short time. Does anyone know how to change the client release to 'never'? most routers have that feature.

    Hi xellos,
I'm not sure what you need, but if my feelings is right, than what you  want to do is sort of motion detector based on PIR sensor and some ucontroller. It this is what you need, than once again, such a question is rather suitable for other discussion forums, like LabVIEW Embedded.
However, in general you can go for ARM or Blackfin when thinking about embedded platform. See following links to get more ingormation on ARM and Blackfin with LabVIEW:
NI LabVIEW Embedded Module for ARM Microcontrollers
NI LabVIEW Embedded Module for ADI Blackfin Processors Development Kit
With choosing sensor, I suggest simple googling - with relativly little effort you can find many sensors. And you can pick on specification and requirements you have (just to note, National Instruments is not producing and usualy not selling sensors).

  • Serial port for an alarm system

I have an alarm system set to receive inputs from LabVIEW-controlled digital I/O cards. All the digital ports are fully utilized for data input. When an alarm state is reached, we would like to use the serial port to relay the alarm condition to a global monitoring system. I don't know if the serial ports can accomplish this as the global monitoring system typically looks for a dry contact or a relay to be tripped. What are the capabilities of the serial port along these lines? Can I have it set to constantly send a 5V signal of dummy data and then drop that data transmission when the alarm condition is reached?

RS-232 can be +-12V or more depending on how the physical drivers are configured. However, if you can handle these voltages, then you can simply assert or deassert one of the modem control lines (RTS or DTR) to indicate your alarm state. If you want to use the TX line, you can set and clear the break condition. If you hook up a multimeter to one of these signals and experiment with NI-VISA in LabVIEW, you should be able to create a signal that will work in your system.
However, if you need +5/GND, you can use an RS-485 port which generates (well, in a way) signals between 0 and 5V (or 0 and 3.3V depending on the system). RS-485 is a differential signaling system, but you can just throw away one of the lines. In this case you'll use TX+, TX-, RTS+, or
RTS- depending on what you need.

  • Monitoring and Alarming System for Blue M furnace

    Please help me...
The Blue M furnace has a temperature controller(MIC 6000) attached to it, The temperature from the furnace is taken using a thermocouple, my project is to continuously monitor and set up an alarm when the temperature.
About the Furnace and the controller:
    1) Ramp time is 1 hour and ramp up is up to 300 degrees celsius
    2) Soak time is 45 minutes and soak at 300 degrees.
    3) Ramp down cycle for 2 hours and ramp down to 50 degrees.
    Objectives:
    1) Continuously monitor the furnace temperature on computer as a temperature Vs Time graph, even when the temperature is OFF
    2) Set up alarm system. The alarm should be enabled only at the soak period cycle and disabled in all other stages.
    My questions are:
Whether is this project  doable in Labview and if it is possible, what are the hardware and software required for this project and also can you please give me an idea or help me in doing this project. I am new to Labview, I didnot even have the software rightnow but I can learn it if this project is doable.
Hope you can help me in this issue.

    Hello Brian,
Roughly speaking this project should be possible in LabVIEW. But before we make a definitive decision, we would need more information from you. My question/suggestion for you are as below:
    1. How is this temperature controller connected to your computer? Is it through a serial port? If it is, the what is the communication protocol that it uses? Is it RS-232, RS-485 or Modbus?
    2. Would it be possible for you to provide us with a link to its product manual on the web? This way we can pull up its information and see if we have instrument drivers available for it.
    3. Call one of our technical sales reps. These guys can understand your requirements in detail and then recommend you appropriately.
    4. If you are looking to learn LabVIEW then you can download its evaluation version from here and then go through a free training session available here.

Ok guys I'm fairly new to Labview
I created a fire alarm system which when the temperature reaches 40C it gives me a sound alarm.
How do I implement this into TCP/IP system where I can control the value of the temperature from the client side, and the temperature of the server side will rise? It is supposed to be a smart home but I have no idea how to do this. I have attached my fire alarm VI.

There are a multitude of ways to accomplish what you want.  You can use TCP but NI has several technologies that hide that information in a layer of abstraction that try to make life easier.  Network Shared Variables is a relatively simple way to set and get data across a network.  I don't know if there are any examples shipped with LabVIEW but if there are you can find them under Help >> Find Examples.

  • Burglar Alarm System Design?

Hi I am looking for a Burglar Alarm System program on Labview, I have found this one example however it is missing a Sub Vi named Arm.vi
Any help would be greatly appreciated if anyone has any programs or could work out how to get this one running. I am no expert on Labview so need loads of help.
    Thank You

Message Edited by Support on 11-04-2009 08:39 AM

The "Arm.vi" sub-vi is the heart of the program! The rest is just a rather messy wiring of the "entry" switches. Not sure why the "panic" button is set to stop the program, they usually set off the alarm. Judging from what is in the vi you supplied (apparently a school project) the "Arm.vi" allows the user to enter a "security code" from the keypad, waits some time after that, then starts monitoring the status of the "entry switches". If you have LabVIEW I would suggest making a simple program that loops at a specific rate (use a timed loop if available (I think it is only in the Full Dev package), otherwise a loop with a "wait (ms)" function set to a reasonable time (don't need to scan too fast, once every 200mS is More than fast enough I would think), and if it detects a "breech" sets a latched boolean (shift registers can be used to latch a boolean).  Give it a try, it is the way you grow to be "an expert at LabVIEW". It is unlikely that you will get a complete solution here, but if specific, incremental questions are asked you probably will.

  • Time Capsule don't connect alarm system to the internet by UDP ports

I have installed an Airport Time Capsule and connected to the ethernet port an Joblatron Alarm system.
The alarm systems gets a IP-adres(reserved by DHCP reservation ip:192.168.1.110) from the Time Capsule Buth doesn't connect to the internet. When i send a ping to the ip adres 1 get a ping result so there is an connection between Time Capsule and alarm system.
After communication with the service desk from the alarm system i have forwarde the next UDP ports: 7070, 8080,8081,8082,8083,8084,8085,8086,8087,8088,8089. The alarm system must make connetion with the server from jablotron(gsmlink.cz) and send my ip-adres to the server. From this site I can make connection to my alarm system and managed it.
What can I do to fixing this problem?

I don't see anything wrong with the setup. This is just typical apple being difficult.
Are all names SMB standard.. ie short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. Do not use apple naming.
What model TC and what firmware are you running??
I strongly recommend earlier firmware. 7.6.1 for later Gen4 and 7.5.2 for earlier ones.
No luck it is much easier to bridge out the TC and use a standard router that has real controls.. and use that. TC can still do wireless and network backups for your Mac.. but it is hopeless when you mix in other brands.

  • Filter problem with operating system in french

    Hello,
There is a problem with the "Operating System - Windows" filter in the french version of ZCC.
If you create a bundle and go into "Requirements" and add a filter with Operating system and you set it to "Version 6.1 - Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2" you get this error
"Vos modifications ne peuvent pas tre appliques pour les raisons suivantes :
ErreurLa version doit tre sous la forme "x" "x.x.x.x". "
"You changes cannot be applied for the following reason : formatting must be x to x.x.x.x"
    The format should be "6.1 - Windows 7 /Windows Server 2008 R2 Versions".
The filter does work as intended with the english versions of ZCC. I have no problem with that but some of our admin does.
PS : I am currently unable to open an SR because our licence has not been renewed yet. So i am reporting this here.
    Thank you!

In 11.3 the value seems to be:
    windows.versions.6.1=Versions 6.1 - Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2
But should probably be set to:
    windows.versions.6.1=6.1 - Versions Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2
And the correct Linux path would be: /opt/novell/zenworks/resources/properties/com/novell/zenworks/core/web/internal/resources/CoreInternal_fr.properties.
This bug would probably take them a minute or two to fix, sad to hear that it's been there since 11.

  • Firefox 4 is apparently not compatibile with MacOS 10.5.8 PPC since after downloading and trying to open a pop-up says it is not compatible with my system. This version is probably for MacOS 10.5 Intel users. Unless there's another reason?

When Firefox 4 was proposed, I immediately checked the system requirements for Mac user:
    "MacOS 5
    MacOS 6"
So I downloaded it, since my OS is 10.5.8 (PPC), I thought I was fine. When downloaded, the Firefox icon showed a Stop sign in the middle: maybe a new logo? But when trying to open it, a window popped up saying this version was not compatible with my system. Therefore, using Time Machine, I reverted back to Firefox 3.6.16.
If this is the case, you should absolutely warn '''PPC''' users not to download Firefox 4. Your version is probably for '''Intel''' versions.
Unless you come up with a fix, I won't be able to use Firefox 4 until I change computers, having updated my system to the last possible upgrade.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • How do I get a cd out of my imac with no system?

I have an iMac Mid 2007 with no system on it. I put in a Snow Leopard OS disk and booted from that in order to instal the system. The install failed three times with the message that certain support files couldn't be copied. I had verified and repaired the disk a couple of times while trying to do this install.
So I thought that I'd buy a Lion disk and install Lion that way. However, the Snow Leopard disk is still in the machine. Is there any way I can get that disk out of the machine without having to take the machine to be repaired? When I boot from the disk, I didn't notice anything in the menus for ejecting and there's no disk icon at that stage to drag to the trash -- there's no trash.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Oh, that's where I got the $69 from. I didn't realise it was a usb stick. Well that would solve the problem.
I can't remember where I got the Leopard disk, it's been a while. And I know this really sounds stupid, but I can't tell whether the disk is gray or white :-)
Since I last wrote, I came across this:
About Lion Recovery Disk Assistant v1.0
Built right into OS X Lion, Lion Recovery lets you repair disks or reinstall OS X Lion without the need for a physical disc.
"The Lion Recovery Disk Assistant lets you create Lion Recovery on an external drive that has all of the same capabilities as the built-in Lion Recovery: reinstall Lion, repair the disk using Disk Utility, restore from a Time Machine backup, or browse the web with Safari.
Note: In order to create an external Lion Recovery using the Lion Recovery Assistant, the Mac must have an existing Recovery HD.
To create an external Lion Recovery, download the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant application. Insert an external drive, launch the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant,  select the drive where you would like to install, and follow the on screen instructions.
When the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant completes, the new partition will not be visible in the Finder or Disk Utility. To access Lion Recovery, reboot the computer while holding the Option key. Select Recovery HD from the Startup Manager. "
Since I have another iMac running Lion which has the recovery HD on it, do you think that I could create Lion Recovery on an external drive on that machine and then then boot to that external drive from the systemless machine and install from the external to the systemless machine?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
In our Golden Gate Project, we require the SYS user credential to connect to the Oracle 10g  ASM instance to read the database transaction logs. But our client is not providing the SYS user credential to  connnect to ASM instance.
I'm getting the error message "ORA-01109:  database not open",When I tried to create a new user using the  below the steps in oracle 10g ASM instance
    1. Login using "sqlplus / as sysdba"
    2. Create user <username> identified by <password>;
But in oracle 11g ASM instance, I'm able to create new  user  by connecting the ASM instance with SYSASM role without issues.
Is there is any workaround to create a new user with sysdba system privilege in oracle 10g ASM instance?.
    Thanks in advance .

    Hi,
Recreate the password file for the ASM instance as follows:
    Unix:
    orapwd file=<ORACLE_HOME>/dbs/PWD<SID> password=<sys_password>
    Windows:
    orapwd file=<ORACLE_HOME>/database/PWD<SID>.ora password=<sys_password>
Now sys password is reset, we are ready to use sys for ASM management. I decided to create another user ASMDBA as I tried above.
    SQL> create user ASMDBA identified by test01;
    User created.
    SQL> grant SYSASM, SYSOPER to ASMDBA;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> select * from v$pwfile_users;
    USERNAME SYSDBA SYSOPE SYSASM
    SYS TRUE TRUE TRUE
    ASMDBA FALSE TRUE TRUE
