Gst-register and gst-plugins-gnomevfs [Solved]

One of the dependencies for rhythmbox, gst-plugins-gnomevfs-0.8.10-1, causes gst-register to fail with message:
(process:8613): libgnomevfs-WARNING **: Cannot load module `/opt/gnome/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/libhttp.so' (libdb-4.3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.8/libgstgnomevfs.so
Removing libgnomevfs eliminates the problem with gst-register.  Any help is appreciated!

Try upgrading db (pacman -Sy db).

  • [SOLVED] Possibly missing mpegts* in gst-plugins-bad?

I'm currently working on a DVB streaming project and it seems like there is a problem with the gst-plugins-bad package. This package is supposed to provide mpegts-plugins e.g. "mpegtsdemux", "mpegtsparse" and so on. However no application on my system can find "mpegtsdemux" or "mpegtsparse". I have installed "gstreamer1.2.4-1" and also "gstreamer0.10.23-8". Of course I have installed "gst-plugins-bad" for both versions of gestreamer and even all of the other plugin packages. I have also read that it is absolutely ok to to run both versions of gstreamer on the same system.
    First Example:
I tried to install Gnome DVB Daemon. Both, the version from AUR and from  here fail with the error
checking GStreamer 0.10 inspection tool... yes
checking GStreamer 0.10 mpegtsparse plugin... no
    configure: error:
Cannot find required GStreamer-0.10 plugin 'mpegtsparse'.
It should be part of gst-plugins-bad. Please install it.
But I have already installed gst-plugins-bad for gstreamer-0.10
    Second Example:
    gst-launch dvbsrc modulation="QAM 64" trans-mode=8k bandwidth=8 frequency=514000000 code-rate-lp=AUTO code-rate-hp=2/3 guard=4 hierarchy=0 pids=100:256:257 ! mpegtsdemux name=demux ! queue max-size-buffers=0 max-size-time=0 ! mpeg2dec ! xvimagesink demux. ! queue max-size-buffers=0 max-size-time=0 ! mad ! alsasink
    results in:
WARNING: erroneous pipeline: no element "mpegtsdemux"
    and gst-launch is terminated

Thank you. I didn't know that you can use gst-inspect without any parameters. The output (mine is the same as yours) explains why there is no mpegtsdemux.
Actually I was mislead by the example from the comments of dvbsrc here. Ok, probably not the best source ;-)
Regarding the "First example" from my post:
Gnome DVB Daemon uses/searches for the mpegtsparse, so I assume that the plugin names really did change.
Gnome DVB Daemon should be using/searching for tsparse instead of mpegtsparse. I will write the developers a bug report later. Problem Solved.

Update your pacman database (pacman -Sy) or really force it to update (pacman -Syy).  The packages you are trying to download are not the latest versions

  • When I click Tools and then plugins and check whether my plugins are up to date or not, Firefox gives me a notice saying my Flash Player is an outdated version and must be replaced.

I am trying to do something that requires Flash Player, but even though it shows in my control panel, and it is the latest version, I keep seeing a notice that it is disabled, and it does not appear in the list of plugins, so I don't know how to enable it.
I have been installing the same version over and over again since yesterday, but when I go to check the plugin, a box appears saying it is disabled. When I go in Tools to the list oif plugins, it is not there! Very frustrating. edit

In Add-ons > Plugins, you must enable "Shockwave Flash (version)"; that is Adobe Flash. Click the "Enable" button next to it. The most current version is 10.3.183.10, which was released just a few days ago.
    '''''"Installed Plug-ins''''' <br />
'''''Many but they are all disabled."'''''
Did you disable all of your plugins? Why?
You need to re-enable your plug-ins in Add-ons > Plugins, then check them to see if they are current and update as necessary.

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash; an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only and a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox. On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
#'''Using Firefox''', go to the following direct download link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.

Download AA 9 Pro from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. Make a new backup for your archive. You might also take the DVD to your library to see if it is a drive problem. You might also carefully clean the DVD with water and soap (do not use anything that would scratch the surface or you have destroyed it for sure) and see if that solves the problem. This is particularly an issue if you have finger prints or other crud on the DVD. However, it could also be a bad drive as I mentioned. Hopefully the download solves your problem in any case (I would backup the download to CD and/or backup HD).

  • After update Gedit and Epiphany plugins not working anymore

Gedit and Epiphany plugins stopped working after recent update. They are listed in plugin dialog, but can't be enabled. Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

I was able to successfully enable the plugins by re-compiling gedit using the ABS system.
However, I do think this is a bug, and that we should report it.  I'm unfamiliar with that
process as well.  If anyone can post a quick suggestion as to the best place to file a bug report,
    I would appreciate it :-)
In the meantime, here's what I did.  This was my first time using the ABS system, so
I went to http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ABS All the below instructions are on the wiki,
these instructions are specific to gedit:
    I installed abs using pacman.
    # pacman -Sy abs
I edited /etc/abs.conf, and put a ! in front of the testing REPOS:
    REPOS=(core extra community !testing)
    As root, I ran
    # abs
A bunch of stuff was downloaded to my /var/abs folder.
I make a directory in my home folder for gedit's stuff:
    $ mkdir -p /home/yourusername/abs
I copied gedit's stuff from /var/abs to my abs folder:
    $ cp -r /var/abs/extra/gedit/ ~/abs
      $ cd ~/abs/gedit
    I ran makepkg -s
    $ makepkg -s
A bunch of stuff downloaded and compiled.  When it was done, there was a new gedit-2.24.3-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz file in the same directory.
I told pacman to install the tar.gz file.  Note that I did not have to uninstall gedit.
    As root:
    # pacman -U gedit-2.24.3-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
And that was it!  I could then go into gedit and enable/disable whatever plugins I wanted.
    Hope this helps,

  • Control Surfaces and Native Plugins

I have a Novation RemoteZero SL and, though I can access basic volume and pan, and I can control plugins from other companies where Novation has set up "AutoMap", I can't control Logic's own plugins! It won't learn them or control them in any way. This is a known issue for Novation, but what of other controllers?
Are there any controllers that easily control Logic's effects like the eq banks, compressors, etc? This seems bonehead basic, but I can't find any info on this topic here or in other discussions.
    Thanks.

The Mackie Control support lets you edit all parameters of instuments and effects plugins. If you don't have a Mackie Control, you can also use John Pitcairn's LCXmu, which acts as a virtual Logic Control translator between your controller and Logic.
I have a Korg microKontrol running with LCXmu, and it's excellent, way better than Logic'a native mK support, and you can access all instrument & plugin parameters, with the names coming up on the mK screens etc.
Have a look at LCXmu at OpusLocus and see whether your hardware is a directly supported device. Even if it isn't, you can still use it, you just have to set up some manual mapping stuff, depending on what buttons etc you have on your controller.
Otherwise, you are back to manually assigning parameters using Logic's controller assignments - but they are buggy.
I have to say that LCXmu has completely solved all controller issues I had using the micoKontrol as a little portable controller. It's ace.

  • 32-bit flash and java plugins freeze firefox and gnome on 64-bit linux

I have installed FC13 64-bit and am running 32-bit firefox 3.6.8 so that I can run flash plugin.
When I start 32-bit firefox 3.6.8 and go to site with flash or java applet, firefox locks up my gnome desktop necessitating a reboot of my computer.
    Firefox 3.6.8 32-bit
    Flash 10.1r82
    Java jdk 1.6.0_15 32-bit
I have used a similar configuration on 32-bit FC13 with 32-bit Firefox 3.6.8 and everything works fine. No lockups.

    Hi!
I finally solved this problem. The 32-bit libflashplugin required a 32-bit libcurl library that is not installed by default on 64-bit linux systems (at least not on Fedora). Once I installed 32-bit libcurl libs, flash and java plugins starting magically working.
In my opinion, 64-bit Fedora has done a poor job with 32-bit compatibility viz a viz 32-bit libs. I will submit an improvement ticket to Fedora folks about installing more 32-bit libs on 64-bit distros.

  • ADC SDK and/or Plugin API -- hope springs eternal

    All,
I just contacted the Apple Developer Connection asking if they can give me any information regarding an Aperture SDK and/or Plugin API. If there is one out there, and it doesn't cost a fortune, I'm going to look into the possibility of solving the ACR issue.
It's a long shot, but there's always hope. I'll let you all know what I find out. If anyone else gets to an answer before I do on whether these resources exist, please post it here.
    Brad

Unfortunately I looked into this a few days after the initial announcement - the reply was ' 'Aperture 1.0 ships with a fixed set of adjustments. There's currently no public SDK for plug-in developers.'
On the other hand FCP 1 had no SDK, so it might be another feature where we have to wait...

    HI Yazzmatazz,
It should be OK, but it's always wise to check with the plug-ins manufacturers before updating Premiere Pro.

  • Firefox on linux gets confused when both 32bit and 64bit plugins are found

On a CentOS6 machines, 32bit plugins get installed to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and 64bit plugins get installed /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins. If both locations have the same plugin installed, such as libflashplayer.so, then 64bit firefox seems to randomly find one first and fail when it sees the 32bit version first. This results in Flash working for some users and not for others .
I can run "strings -a ~/.mozilla/firefox/*/pluginreg.dat | grep usr.lib" and see which users will have it fail because the 32bit path to libflashplayer.so is listed first for them. For the users where it works the 64bit version in /usr/ilb64 is listed first.
I see no way to make 64bit firefox ignore what is in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins as this seems hardcoded into the binary. I also see no way to make the /usr/lib64 path take precedence as I have MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH=/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins-wrapped
The output I see on the stderr is:
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so [/usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32]

    repeated many times
It seems to me at least that plugins in a user set MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH should always take precedence over those in a hard coded path like /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

    HI paulraines68,
This may be a question that is beyond the user support of this forum. There are channels I can point you to for feedback or how to submit a bug for this [bugzilla.mozilla.org].
However stackoverflow.com may be the best place for solving the immediate question.

    I all.
I've installed some RedGiant and Sapphire plugins to a graduation work, however, i think they are in conflict one with the other, because i can only use one at the time.
