GT60 0NE new EC getting very high temps

Hi , i have a GT60 0ne with gtx680m. I just update the firmware n bios but the new EC which i download (16F3EMS1.413.zip) from the msi site is making my gpu pretty hot. Temps used to be 79-80 on full load and
now my highs are like getting onto 90s and it seems the fan doesnt scale very well with the temps. It is much more quiet in fact after the new EC update but its making my gpu running like an oven.
Any advice or help would be appreciated.
Thank you

  • Very high temp, but no problems at all!!!

Ok I got this k7n2-l last month. When I installed it with my 1800 xp, the temps would hover about 60 to 75 c. So I went and bought a new cpu cooler( therm vol 7) adn applied some artic silver 2. no change in temps. this cpu ran like 30 to 40c in my old k7s5a board with retail cpu fan.  So I went and bought a xp 2200. and had them install it pro installed with retail cpu fan and thermal pad. now my temp hover between 70 and 100 c. the funny thing is I have never had a crash or any system problems what so ever. And I play counter-strike everyday. I ordered a ther volc 9 with some artic silver 3.  But doesnt this seem weird. that I get these high temps and my system is very stable. I even oc'd the 2200 to a 2400  and get the same temp readings. I think the temp is wrong. Oh and I'm reading it from the bios and pc alert 4. what do you guys think?

With a Duron 800 and a Thermalright SK-5 and a 60 MM fan blowing about 12 CFM i was sitting around 120 F. I installed a Valcano 9 and the temp whent up to 131 F. I thougth i installed it wrong so i took it off, cleaned it and re aplied some Arctic Alumnia and the temp was stilla round 130 F. I took it off, put the SK-5 back on and it dropped to around 124 F. I took the 80 MM fan off the Valcano 9 and placed it on the SK-5. The temp whent down to around 118 F. Needless to say the Valcano 9 heatsink is a peice of . Or my first generation old ass SK-5 is badder asser. But i dought that seeing the I was getting the same temps with a $8 CoolerMaster.
Now with my Athlon 1700+ @ 195x10 I hover around 127 - 131 F with the Thermaltake fan from the Valcano 9 at its lowest setting, compleatly silent, spinning about 2500 RPM's.
I attached the sensor from the Valcano 9 to the bottem of the Proc whith some thermal tape. With a little re-wiring i ran it into my Vantec NXP 201. What ever it reports is usally around 3 - 5 C lower then the Bios. Usually around 48 C. I thought the Bios temps where way off. But now lookign at it i'm not so sure they are. If the temp in the Bios is being taken fromthe core of the Proc and the temp on the Vantec Nesus is being taken from the bottom of the proc, and theres only a free degrees difrence, i'm not sure the Bios is wrong.
This is on an ILSR BTW..

My iPad (new 16gb) is often high temp and makes many times restarts. Is this problem? What should I do?

Take it back. Dont try to trouble shoot. I just upgraded to the new ipad last week. Mine doesnt do that. It doesnt even get that "hot" like people say. A little warmer, yes. It should no way keep restarting due to temperature. If someone here says its normal, they are full of crap. Dont screw around with it, just take it back asap and explain it to apple. You will get another one.

  • Why am I getting very high values for the very low frequency region of a random signal?

I am tyring to produce a power spectrum graph for a Tachogram data, related to Heart Rate Variability Analysis. This data can be thought to be as a random signal, but has a frequency spectrum range of 0 - 1HZ.
The problem that I am facing is, I am getting very high values for very low frequency region, closer to DC value. Even the DC value is really high, in the range 10^8. It is suppose to be a low number. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Here is what my work is all about. I am trying to develop a software for Heart Rate Variability analysis. I am not sure if you are aware of heart beat waveforms, they are bunch spikes, occuring at irregular intervals. We have to do analysis on this waveform. How ? First we have to create a plot called Tachogram. This is done by, for example, let's name the first spike R1, the second one R2, and the third one R3, and so on. This is how the co-ordinate points are created. (R1, R2-R1), (R2, R3-R2), and so on...
Here R1 is the time instant at which the spike R1 occurs, and R2-R1 is the time difference between these peak occurences. So, if we plot these values, then it gives us one like what you saw on your time domain plot. What we have to do with this signal is, we have to apply FFT technique to produce its power spectrum for analysis. Generally the frequency range of the spectrum goes from 0 - 0.5 Hz. They part this range into VLF, LF, and HF, and analyze how much power is distributed in these regions. The distribution would tell you if you were stressed out,or have worked out, things like that. Normally, you can view spikes around LF, HF region. If you had viewed the power spectrum for the data that I sent, then that's what it pretty much looks like. I think I have said a lot about it now. Hope you get it.
We were talking about the "other component", I can't really see where it lies, must be in the 60-80 sec. range in the graph. If you look at the spectrum, I am getting a huge value around 0.0033 Hz, how do I minimize or remove this ?
Also, I am using Unevenly Spaced Signal Spectrum.vi, I am not sure what excactly is the unit for the Power Spectrum output. Technical Papers denote, Periodogram algorithm used by this VI, gives Power Spectral Density ? If that's right, then the unit is V^2/HZ.
    Please advise.
Again, I should thank you for your time and effort.
I have to meet a deadline this week in finishing this project, and your help is immense to me at this point.
    Thanks & Best Regards,

  • Do all the PowerBooks get to very high temps?

My PowerBook G4 gets to 185 (85 celsius)

My PowerBook G4 gets to 185 (85 celsius)
    Hello Victor,
85°C? Wow! That's way too hot, at least for the 12" model. The fan is supposed to activate at 60°C. Recently my 12" PowerBook's fan has not activated - and my PB is overheating too, up to 72°C after 10-15 minutes of 100% CPU load running Folding@Home.
Let's try to help each other since no one else is answering our questions.
    - Do you hear fan noise from your PB when it gets very hot?
    - How are you monitoring the temperature? (I use X-Resource-Graph)
    - What application(s) were you running when your PB heated to 85°C? Do you know the %CPU utilization? (as you may know already, you can see this in Activity Monitor)
    - What was the last software update you installed on your PB?
    - What did you do when you noticed how hot your PB was? Did you shut it off, or did it go to sleep by itself?
Thanks Victor - I'm sure that if we get a good thread going here, we can figure out these overheating problems.
    Best wishes,
    Jean

  • My new 7D gets very dark pics indoors when using "automatic" settings. Whats wrong?

My new Canon 7D gets very dark pics indoors when everything is set on "Automatic".  So did my 60D, which i traded in for the 7D because of disappointing dark pics when on "Automatic".  This happens with the built-in flash, and also with my 430EX II external flash.
What am I doing wrong?  I would like to make it work properly on "Automatic".
    Thanks,

  • Very high temp. with GNB MAX

Hello, i have a problem with my MSI GNB MAX motherboard and my p4 3,06 ghz
My cpu temperatures are very high, with a maximum of 85/86c,,, is this normal??
Anyone else having a similar problem like this?
    MSI GNB MAX (ms-6565) motherboard
P4 3,06 ghz  processor with standaard p4 cooler
1024 mb DDR 266 mhz (dual) memory
    Geforce 4 mx videocard
    60Gb Maxtor ATA133 HD
Promedium Mars case with a total of 6 fans
    (not overclocked)

If Vcor is 1.4 (I'm running 1.525 but reads 1.47 in PCAlert), AND fsb is set for 134, AND your HSF is running AND has good contact, there is no way for it to be that hot. The stock HSF is a pretty good part. I would suggest getting a temperature probe and touching it to the base edge of the HSF to see if you are really that hot. In Bios, I have the cut off threshold at 65C and alarm at 63C. I dont know the exact conversion but 86C is near hot enough to boil water. The laquer from the chip would probably begin to melt and create an odor.

  • New 290X Gaming Really high temps.

    Hi,
I just purchased a new MSI Gaming R9 290X. The card runs super hot. I am not doing benchmarks. It runs hot just playing games. I have to stop gaming because the card is reaching 90C. It doesn't seem like the fans are kicking up like they should. I also have tried to manually control the fan speed using the CCC and MSI AB. None of those will let me touch the fan settings. Please help
    CPU: i7 3970X

    SSD: Samsung 840 250GB
    HDD: WD Cavier Black 1tb X4 raid0
    PSU: Thermal Take 1300W

    **Update**
Last night I was monitoring the GPU usage and it is hovering at 100% load and then dropping back down to normal which should be around 30-50% for this card. I had a 280x that never reached 100% playing the same game. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. Although I used the new version of driver sweeper... I forget what its actually called. That is the reason for the temps. My fan speeds up to about 3k RPM and stays there but the load is pretty much stuck at 100%. Is there anything I can do to bring it down or does it seem like a bad card?
    Thanks for the responses
@Denis01: It takes maybe 7-10 mins on average. Not long at all. Idles at 40C
@Nichrome: will try to reapply thermal paste once I get home.

  • GeForce NX8600GTS-T2D256EZ, Very High Temp; should I be concerned?

    Hello,
I have the MSI GeForce 8600 GTS NX8600GTS-T2D256EZ-HD.   I just opened the case and realized it runs really hot; I can barely touch the copper pipes or the aluminum heat sink.   I have a Silenex Fan right under it and some air flows over the surfaces.  For reference, the 975X chips/heat sinks are near room temp.
Anyone notice this issue?   Should I be concerned about a video card in the computer that run this hot?  If so, any suggestions for cooling?  I have P182 case and 5 fans.

Had no idea what these were, but searched/read.  Downloaded & installed Nvidia Ntune, which added features to the control panel, including temp monitoring.   GPU Temp is 48c, and I can't imagine that is an issue, right?
Thx for the good suggestion; I appreciate it!

nop, GPU can running very hot without to worry about. 80-90C underload temp can be expected.
if you don't have real issues don't worry about the temp.

  • Very high ASYNC_NETWORK_IO

Hi There; I’m an ‘Accidental DBA’ with a problem (is there any other kind?).
We seem to be getting very high ASYNC_NETWORK_IO; with a WaitCount of around 20 million hits per 24 hour period (total wait time around 9 hours in that same period).
I’ve spent a lot of time researching this wait and as I understand it ASYNC_NETWORK_IO is most often caused by the application not consuming data fast enough; so we had a programmer work through the code and resolve all locations where we are using a IQueryable
in a for next loop and converting them immediately into arrays (Linq To SQL).
This seems to have made no difference.
I would like to set up an extended event trace to find which queries are generating this particular wait, but at an average of over 200 hits per second I’m concerned about performance impact such a trace might have.
I’m looking for suggestions as to how to move forward in resolving this issue.
My first question is, am I correct in thinking that the number of these waits that we are getting is excessively high?
Assuming that is the case how can I go about tracing the offending queries without hammering the system?
If (as I suspect) it is not individual queries that are causing the issue, what else should I be looking for?
    Thanks in advance
    Paul.

    Hi chaps
    Thanks for the help.
We have about 100 concurrent users and they are always complaining about the application being slow, so the application is definitely not performing well.
Using activity monitor the cpu is normally at 20-60% and there are usually no more than 0-4 waiting tasks and a few hundred batch req/sec.
The only thing that stands out is the very high ASYNC_NETWORK_IO, in terms of both wait time & wait count.
Raju, thank you for the link, I have read that blog post before in my research: the server is using only about 2.5% of the available bandwidth (1gb). Our network admin assures me that the network is set-up correctly. while it is possible that there are a
few badly written queries most of them are quite lean. Almost all of our processes use Linq to SQL, there are no bulk dataloads
    You also said:
    >I’ve spent a lot of time researching this wait and as I understand it ASYNC_NETWORK_IO
    >is most often caused by the application not consuming data fast enough; so we had a
    >programmer work through the code and resolve all locations where we are using a IQueryable
    >in a for next loop and converting them immediately into arrays (Linq To SQL).
I'm not familiar with what kind of SQL that generates.
I asked about a design issue of too much data before, if you are using a low-level interface then the opposite is a question as well, even for modest amounts of data if you somehow use server-side cursors, or otherwise end up sending SQL commands for
just one row at a time, then you can get slow response and high asynch waits.  I'm also not sure what you mean by having the programmer "resolve" these locations.
David also asks a good question whether there are just a couple of waits that throw off the totals.  A similar but more design-oriented question is whether your app has some little widget that is always tickling SQL Server for an update, 100 users issuing
a one-line query once a second, to fill some tiny counter on the user screen, can have this same kind of effect.
Finally on the perceived app slowness *again* I would ask about design issues, I've seen apps that were very cleverly doing async, background data loads on ten hidden panels while the user gazed at their data.  This was very heavily loading the system
for basically no good reason, but it wasn't SQL Server's fault.

  • Very High Ping/Latency

    Good Evening,
For 4-5 weeks, I have been getting very high pings (>1500ms) this occurs randomly throughout the day and night.
I have reported a fault and have been told this is normal for peak times.... however they will request a switch over to Fast Path from Interleave.
Now I'm no Rocket scientist but >1500ms ping in an area with only 200 houses on my exchange IS NOT normal, nor is it even remotely acceptable that i'm told it is!!
Having browsed the web with this IP (my 1st hop) "217.47.106.122", I find many others with EXACTLY the same issue.
Please can someone confirm there is an issue with the above address..
My Area Code is 01851 (Isle of Lewis).
I am aware there is ongoing work to install infinity on Lewis this summer, yet I haven't been informed of any dissruptions.
If I was a betting man I'd say many user's have been rerouted and now as a result is being overloaded.. an oversight no doubt.
Please either confirm this is or at the very least "may" be the case..
    Regards
    Dan

  • Very high pitch sound on new Quad

    Just got my Quad yesterday
Everything is good, except that it has a very high pitch sound that is very annoying and it hurts my ears in the long run.
I disconnected the HD and superdrive to see if I could locate the source, but it is still there.
I thought about pulling the gpu (6600 256MB), but I don't know if the Quad will start up without a gpu.
I thought the 6600 was supposed to be with a fan, but all I see is black cooling ribs.
Any others with this sound ?
Its not a fan noise, and not a pump noise. It is like a 'electronic' whine.

I have sensitive hearing and noticed something similar when I got my 2.5GHz liquid-cooled G5. It was a constant sound and believe it was coming from the cooling pump. Does your sound ever vary? Try running System Load and see if you can get it to vary.

  • New Aluminium MACBOOK - Airport Extreme adapter very high pitch scream! Oww

I have just connected my Netgear Wi Fi router to my PCin order to get the internet on my Brand new MACBOOK. Unbelieveably I found this very easy once I had the necessary kit but to my dismay the Airport Extreme adapter on the the MACBOOK has started to scream at me in a way that is almost unbearable to listen to. The noise is that of a sinclaire spectrum loading but at a very high pitch so it pierces the ear drum! I am currently sitting with my finger in one ear to try to protect my brain from the savagery. Does anyone else have the same problem? none of my other Wi Fi adapters sound like this, is there anything I can do to stop this?
    Please Help

If anyone's interested, this seemed to have to do with WPA-PSK encryption. Turning it off seemed to work. Don't want to run unencrypted, so I'm using the Netgear USB dongle thingie instead of the airport card for now.
