GT683 Keyboard Flex Issue

I purchased a GT683 on 7/16 and had to exchange it the same day. The keyboard would flex to a large degree pressing any key left of F or on the number pad. The flex was so great that keys would get stuck.
The replacement is much better, but the number 1 key (not on the keypad) has the same plus keys X and C and D to some extent. The keyboard flexes when typing, so far the keys haven't gotten stuck, but you can hear the keyboard flex, and sometimes the 1 key doesn't register.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
I purchased the laptop with the anticipation of doing a large amount of typing. I spent a considerable amount of time typing on the display laptop and it did not have this issue. One of the key points was I really liked the keyboard feel on the display model.

I just bought a GX680 and most of the keys on the LH side of the keyboard are very noisy. When typing there is an audible clang whenever you press any of those keys. I am being denied any RMA or warranty from NCIX.com because they claim its "not a known issue".
Atomant: That's the same experience I'm having. The clang is caused by the keyboard flexing. This causes friction on the board. It's a very annoying sound, made even worse by the fact it's only some keys.
I use a Dvorak keyboard layout, and the AOEUI keys are all on the home row left side, so they are the most commonly typed keys.
If I discover a method to quiet the keyboard, I'll post it here.

I have a MSI GT683 and when I listen to music my keyboard makes a noise. I think it is from the bass ( the keys are vibrating ).
Does anyone have this problem?

• GT683 Bluetooth switch Issue :))

Hello...
Maybe somebody skilled can help me:
when I've bought GT683, it was equipped with Intel Centrino Wireless-N 130 WiFi+Bluetooth.
Because I need dual-band, I've upgraded nbook to Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 WiFi+Bluetooth (by replacing half PCIe minicard).
(The new one has same BT onboard, the version 3.0+HS to be exact.)
Everything works great only Bluetooth switch next to power button now isn't able to switch-off the BT (but the WiFi switch next to him is able to turn off/turn on WiFi correctly).
Is there any way how to force the BT switch to behave correctly too? (For example in Windows system registry by assigning new Hardware ID... ...(USB\VID_0A12&PID_0001) to be exact to it?
I know that nbook is sold with many different WiFi cards, so it should be possible somehow...
Thanks for any help.
Ben

• Which part of the machine is related to the keyboard flex problem ?

Mine is T420s
And I got a keyboard flex problem.
Actually which part is related to this problem ?
Isn't it inclusive to fix this problem in the warranty ?
thx

Mine doesn't exhibit any keyboard flex and I don't think it's a common issue with T420s; anyway:

• W530 keyboard flex

Hello,
Previously I have posted a question concerning replacing the keyboard on the W530, even though this has nothing to do with the issue I am experiencing now. I am aware of the fact that I am not the only one that is experiencing keyboard flex in the left section of the keyboard. But when I press with a tad of force, I actually hear how the back of the keyboard hits the fan (which concerns me badly.)
Upon ordering, the only change I made in hardware on the official lenovo website was choosing the option to put in a backlit keyboard (which resulted in longer shipping, etc etc). I am wondering if this flex and fan hitting thing are normal things, and perhaps caused by the thinkpad being opened up and having the keyboard replaced with another one?
Thanks in advance!

When does it turn off?
I pressed Fn+Space to turn it on now (in the low intensity mode).
After that I left the W530 on the sofa while watching TV.
Now, 15 minutes later, the backlit keyboard is still lit...
1h later I see that it is black, and so is the screen. So I think the keyboard backlight turn off when the enery saving scheme takes effect.
After it has been turned off, a new Fn+Space is needed to turn it on again.

• T420s keyboard flex

Hey,
Sorry about questions about my newly arrived T420si but I have another quick question: There is some minor keyboard flex at the upper right corner around backspace and especially delete keys. Is this normal? I know all crappy laptops have keyboard flex, some too horrific degrees and this minor does not bother me at all, but I am worried that this is a sign of a bigger thing. Anything ideas??

Hello elalemever
The flex could be minor however, I would suggest you to get it check once. It may require the keyboard replacement.

• How to fix keyboard flex on envy laptops

I own two laptops all from hp and I bought them at the same time. The HP ENVY 15-j051nr and the HP ENVY 17-j029nr all with amazing specs and performance.

But my main issue that bothers me seriously is the keyboard flex. The keyboard of both laptops flex so badly it's extremely annoying.considering the price these laptops go for, it makes you feel like they're just utterly cheap and of low quality meanwhile they're not.

QUESTION::
Is there anyway to fix the keyboard flex?

I can handle any opening up and tightening some screws or any fix that would require me to open the laptop up.

Generally all answers relating to help fix the issue of keyboard flex is welcome.

It is normal. I was provided an Envy 17-j029nr as a "loaner/tester" by HP to facilitate my participation in this Forum. My ONLY complaint is keyboard flex and nonresponsiveness. It will not recognize double letters. If I try to type "letters" it always comes out "leters" unless I slow down and punch the "t" twice very distinctly and slowly. I am thinking about trying to remove the keyboard and possibly stick a piece of thin rigid steel plate under the keyboard to hold it up but the keyboard is an island key type and not easy to get to and I cannot disassemble it too much.

• T520 tingling sound + keyboard flex

Hi,
Tingling Sound:
Anytime I've the laptop at a 45+ degree angle (like using while in bed), I start to hear this slight crackling sound coming from the left side (left vent/back area). Has anyone experienced this on theirs?
Keyboard Flex:
So, the q,w,e,a,s,d,Enter, backspace, right Shift' keys are not firm resulting in poor typing experience. Also, these keys kind of a make thunk/clacky noise when pressed which is annonying. Has anyone been able to fix this themselves or from the Lenovo?
thanks for your feedback.

Kindly update the BIOS and check if the issue resolve.

• U330 Diagnostics Program and Keyboard Sensor Issues

I'm sorry if this has been posted before but I've been searching for awhile now and can't find it.
I was wondering if there was any type of diagnostics program for the U330 to test my cpu, fans and the general hardware.
Also i was wondering if anyone else with the U330 notices any keyboard sensor issues. Such as, I have to press firmly in the middle of the keys for it to register. Or I have to press firmly on the "T" or "Y" button for it to register the click. It's very bothersome and I was wondering if anyone else with a U330 has a similar issue?
Message Edited by droptopmetro on 05-15-2009 01:01 AM

What do you mean by testing cpu/fan/ram? You can test cpu by OCCT or S&M and you can test RAM by memtest86+
Regarding keyboard - you should have it replaced, it's a common faoult in some ideapads.

• X201 Ultrabase Keyboard / Mouse Issues

Hello,
I have recently deployed 3 identical X201 systems with the Ultrabase to some of my users, they are imaged systems and should all work virtually the same but one is having an odd quirk. If he turns the system on while it is docked, the external mouse & keyboard he has connected to the Ultrabase do not respond unless he first opens the laptop and uses the normal keyboard / touchpad. I can't see any reason for this to be happening but I am hoping someone has come across this before, hopefully it is not an issue with the dock itself.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

• X100e keyboard/mouse issues

Hi Folks,
I've been having trouble with my recently purchased x100e (running Windows 7), and I'm hoping that someone may be able to help me out. I've been looking through the forums and on the web for solutions, but no luck.
Starting a few days ago, I notice that whenever I press a button on the keyboard, a dialog box pops up to ask me if I want to display the Trackpoint Guide. This prevents me from typing anything longer than one keystroke, because the dialog box just comes back when I hit the next key regardless of pressing "Yes" or "No." Additionally, whenever I press a key, the cursor changes from the standard pointer to the scroll icon that would display if I was pressing the middle mouse/scroll button above the trackpad. Furthermore, the middle mouse/scroll button above the trackpad no longer works when pressed.
I have noticed that it is possible to disable the Trackpoint dialog box from coming up by clicking the "do not display this message" option, but the cursor issue persists no matter what. The laptop is hardly a month old. I use antivirus, anti-spyware, etc. I have tried updating the mouse/trackpoint driver and also rolling it back to the originally installed driver, but neither step seems to resolve the issue. I thought that perhaps I had inadvertently changed some of the mouse settings, so I did a factory reset on the machine. Unfortunately, that didn't solve the issue either. I did an extra factory reset just to make sure. I've run anti-virus and anti-malware scans to see if anything would show up, but nothing does. This one really has me perplexed. If there's anyone out there who could offer any advice, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!

Hi onlylive2x,
Welcome to Lenovo Forums.
Could you try doing a factory reset without installing any antivirus or antispyware and see if there are any keyboard/mouse issues? This could be some software which is causing a conflict with the mouse drivers.

Do you find connecting to a Bluetooth keyboard creates issues w/ the new iPad's performance?

I have an Adesso case with bluetooth keyboard for my iPad 2. No affect on performance. Keybord easier to use compared to on-screen keyboard. Plus it has more keys compared to on-screen keyboard.

[Athlon64] Keyboard Recognization issue...

Quote from: dacull on 11-September-05, 06:06:15
So seems this keyboard issue remains nearly a year after i first reported it atleast..
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=61832.0
I managed to find one PS2 keyboard that gave me enough functionality to be able to turn on the USB, then switch to a USB keyboard that solved any instability problems, no problems since then.
The only advice i can say is completely remove power, when you switch power on all the LEDs on your PS2 keyboard should flash. if they dont, switch off and then on again until they flash, then press the reset button to startup your computer.
as you know USB is disabled by default :(
I completely unhooked every component, making my case just as empty as the day I got it. Every single part detached from one another...
I then hooked up all the absolute bare minimum components, and on power-on, and after several power-ons, the PS/2 keyboard did NOT flash, unfortunitly. However, I noticed the USB keyboard hooked into the USB slots DOES flash. I have decided to juist pay the shipping fee and have newegg replace the mobo. Better safe than sorry. I am sure if my PS/2 slot wasnt defective, the mobo wouldn't have given me a single problem and would be easy as pie to set up for my first build. I am confident however that MSI does make great stuff. I hope my replacement works as smoothly as MSI has a reputation for. Thanks for all your help.

• MSI GT72 keyboard flexing

Hi guys,
I've got MSI GT72 with GTX880 and noticed that keyboard flexes when pressing E, R, D, F, X, C and V keys. I.e. when I press D all other mentioned keys move slightly as well. I don't even have to press, just touch one of these keys. It doesn't feel when you don't look, but when I see this it bugs me:)
It looks like there is some empty space under that area of keys. Anybody had this problem?

Hhhmmmm im having a similar problem. My most common key (w,s,d,a)flex a little too and squeek a bit when moved around.
Would anyone know where i can get replacement keys?
