GT70 2OC: Quick keys

Hi all,
I have a GT70 2OC since March2014.
This Gaming notebook has at both sides of power button some keys (sensors) that are used to activate Flight mode, KeyboarLEDs, BlackScreen, PowerBoost...(six at total).
Today, suddenly, from starting the notebook, these functionalities don't work. I don't know why. Perhaps the latest windows updates have broken them.
I would want to make them work again.
Any help from here?

Here's what I would personally do....
Install the SSD.
Remove the HDD.
Install using the Restore disks, doing a full install.
When it's done, go into Windows and using the Computer Management tool (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management, then go to the "Disk Management" link) and remove the restore partition and leave it as empty, unpartitioned space.
Re-install the HDD into the second bay.
Ensure that the computer is booting from the SSD and not the HDD.
Copy over whatever files you might have on the HDD, and remove all partitions from it, and format it as one large drive.
That should complete what I would do, if it were me.
The reason for leaving the space unpartitioned on the SSD is it essentially gives you more TRIM space, allowing the drive to work more efficiently over a long period of time (ie over years) without 'slowing down' at all. This can happen if you fully partition the SSD and nearly fill the drive. By leaving extra, unparitioned space there, you give it more room to work and make the drive be able to operate more quickly in the long run.

Can't update the firmware of my GT70 2OC (Problems with your firmware)

I can't update the last firmware of GT70 2OC, the guide says run file ecwin.bat as administrator and it will automatically choose which folder of (352x & 353x) is the right one for my notebook and it will run automatically.. well it doesn't do that and it show me this
And this is what inside the firmware.zip
So, which folder is the right one for the GT70 2OC ? (352x or 353x) ?
Because I can just run the winflash.exe from anyone of them.
BTW Norton removed "Autoflash.exe" it detected it as a medium risk and bad reputation -_-

if you are sure that you reflashed to the wrong one,
then reflash to correct one, there are 2 choices only
ie: if your current is .7xx and you have issues some keys not working or other not working stuffs, then reflash to .5xx

turn off/disable Norton before flashing

If I have a Windows 8.1 disk, do I need to keep partitions for GT70 2OC?

I've run into a few problems so I'm going to be doing a reinstall. My GT70 2OC came with Windows 8, but I have 8.1 on a thumb drive. Is there any reason I would need any of the saved partitions such as the recovery partition or can I reformat everything and start fresh? Will I be fine if I download the drivers from the MSI website? Is there anything else I might need to make sure the laptop functions as well as before?

I would suggest you to create 2nd tumb drive with recovery from laptop for future use incase etc you want to sell laptop in future and new owner wants it's default stuff then you can restore it once you created that you can then format laptop to new os but first make sure new usb has the recovery copy.

Bridge will not let me reject files using the quick key: option+delete

Hi Guys,
This is really starting to frustrate me. I'm trying to move quickly some large quantities of files however, for some reason all I get is a error tone when I attemp to reject a image with the quick key after selecting it, or in full screen preview.
I'm running a OSX 10.9.1 Macbook Pro, with the CS6 Production Suite, Including Adobe Bridge Ver 5.0.2.4
Can anyone shed some light on why this might be happening? Or what the next possible step would be?

Not a mac person, but frequently a tone when doing task is a warning from the OS. Tone may be coded to indicated error.

How can I change the measurement of the kerning quick key? (When you press option + arrow keys)

Right now when I am using the quick keys to kern type, everything jumps too far. I want to lower the measurement or unit that it moves when I use this, as it is currently driving me nuts.

Not likely you can change it, unless something out of wack is causing it.

Which operating system are you using?
In photoshop under Help>System Info find the version of photoshop at the top of the list?
Which version of photoshop were you using before?
Have you looked in the Character panel while kerning to see the increments of kern while pressing the shortcuts?

How to create apple quick key to lock screen in 10.6.8 WITHOUT using screen saver or expose feature.

Hello All,
I frequently use my mac in an office that many of my co-workers have access to. I'd like to know of a quick way to lock my screen without putting it in sleep mode or using the screen saver/expose feature. I have the Lock Screen icon in my menu bar but i'd like to know how I can assign a quick key to quickly activate the "Lock Screen" function.
Any suggestions?

Send to back quick key = unexectedly quit

I'm running Illustrator CS4 Standard on a PC. When asking an element to be sent to back via quick key function - Illustrator unexpectedly quits. What's up?

I'm on a PC. With the object I want to send to back selected I hit. . .
Control . .shift. . .bracket key
Doing that doesn't make it unexpectedly quit 100% of the time - probably
more like 80% of the time and only after working in the program with
different eps docs and later in the day.
Any light you could shine would be great - thanks!

Audio Zoom Quick Key (like in FCP)

Still getting used to the switch from FCP to Premiere. Overall I am impressed, but there are still a few things that make me mental with Premierre. In FCP I can zoom in any window with the command + and return to full view with the command z quick keys. I know that just the + and \ works for the timeline in Premiere, but not in the source monitor. Is there any such thing like that in Premiere - especially when viewing Audio Wave Froms in the source monitor? That little slider bar drives me nuts and waste a lot of time. It's much quicker to just zoom in and return to full view with a key stroke like I am used to in FCP. If anyone has a solution, I would be most greatful. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Jim for the reply. I do know of that featuer toggeling the panel full screen, but what I am wondering is that once you do that, is there way quick key that will then allow you to zoom into the waveform like when you use the sliders at the bottom of the panel. In FCP, i can put the play head near the spot I want and press the command + key and it will then zoom in on a frame by frame basis - much like hitting the + key in the main premiere time line. Does that make sense? Thanks again!

You can assign a shortcut to the Flatten command (I use Alt+Shift+Ctrl+A) in the Keyboard Shortcuts.

Cursor behaviour when quick key zooming

Is there a way to change the cursor behaviour when using a quick key (cmd-space) zoom?
When laying out complex forms i often need to quickly zoom in to accurately position (say) a checkbox i've just place on the page, but if i cmd-space zoom i have to then click the arrow tool before i can continue positioning the element in question.
Not a big problem with one element but if i need to zoom in tight to reposition a number of elements i've selected, the need to click the arrow tool after the zoom causes that selection to deselect. Which means zooming in on each one to position it.
In short, is there any way for acrobat to revert to the current tool after a quick key zoom?

JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true) has bugs! I agree. I created my own lookAndFeel extending mostly from MetalUI components. I then made my own RootPaneUI and TitlePane, so I was knee deep in the MetalRootPaneUI code. You cannot fix the flicker problem. When resizing, the new bounds are determined and then setBounds is called on the window, either a Frame or Dialog. The setBounds call forces lightWeight components to repaint(), causing the flicker.

}What appears to happen is when a Dialog is closed over a JFrame, the cursor gets screwed up somehow. I was able to recreate the bug. I simply made a JFrame with a button that created a dialog. I then used the titleBar's closeButton to close the dialog. Just after clicking the closeButton, I moved my mouse quickly over the edge of the dialog before it had a chance to disappear. Sometimes I was fast enough and the cursor got stuck. The above code is all I could do to fix it.
The resizing was filckery or slow whether I used the real MetalRootPaneUI or my own. I also tried the dynamicLayout and noerasebackground with unacceptable trade-offs. Luckily my app only has one JFrame. So, I only setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated JDialogs, which are never resizable in my app. This means that my JFrame is the only window in the app that uses the OS TitleBar rather than my own. Although, my JFrame resizes without flickering.

Quick Keys in Indesign not Working

I'm working on:
OSX 10.10.1
Indesign CC 2014.2
When I use my quick keys (cmd+shift) to enlarge or reduce something while maintaining the proportions it wont work. It merely resizes it without maintaining the proportions. In this instance I'm trying to resize a logo placed within a frame. I select the frame, hold down cmd+shift, and click a corner to try to reduce/enlarge it and all it does is distort my image. Any tips would be great!

Are you doing this with the type tool?
Try using the selection tool instead.

What is going on with the quick keys in CC? Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop?

What is going on with the quick keys in CC? Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop? The delete key only works when it wants to as well? We (Co-Workers) all use our shortcut keys A LOT and these will sometimes work and sometimes don't work. It only started when we downloaded the new CC. What's going on??

The Arial Font works on the MacBook Pro, but it is not listed on the iMac.
By not listed, do you mean it doesn't show up in the font lists of apps you're using, or it literally isn't on the hard drive?
Look in the /Library/Fonts/ folder. That's the Library from the root of the drive, not in the System folder or your user account. Is Arial.ttf actually missing?

Looking to buy and upgrade a GT70 2OC-065US

Hey guys, been a owner of a MSI GT780DXR since the release. Love these notebooks and looking to upgrade for better performance on FFXIV and BF4. So I've found a few MSI GT70 2OC-065US's for around $1200-1400. But I wanna do some upgrades myself since last time I bought from Xoticpc.com and turns out they didn't do any of the upgrades I purchased except the CPU upgrade and extra ram. So I decided to buy the parts and do it myself this time. I've had a lot more experience with thermal compounds and system upgrades.
The reason I'm here though is, I'm not familiar with the 4th gen CPU's and need some advice and knowledge from you guys about the GT70. So basically, all I'm gonna be doing is upgrading the RAM, thermal compound, hard drive, and do a fresh install.
The parts I'm looking at purchasing for the upgrades...

Now I'm wondering since I'm not sure about the GT70, are 2 of the ram slots on top of the board like in the GT780 (i.e. under the keyboard)? Will I need to do a Bio's flash for the SSD and is ram I've selected the best option for the system or is there other options better suited? The G Skill say the 1.35V is for 4th gen processors but I'm curious if this is recommended for this board? Also, any resources out there showing a tear down of the GT70 to it's frame?
Any advice or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

FWIW, I have the best performance from Samsung SSD's I've been using 4 830's for going on two years as OS SSD drives in 4 PC's, another has a 840 evo as the OS drive. A little over a year ago I upgraded my Sony VAIO laptop's from the 640GB HDD to a Samsung 840 500GB HDD. It's been flawless.
I have some refurbed OCZ's, all have been fine, but really haven't had them that long. My first SSD was a Crucial M4, it is still running strong, but isn't nearly as fast as any of the Samsung drives. I also have a refurbed Crucial M4, not very old, but runs identical to the original I bought. I tend to use Newegg and what they sell for refurbs as a guide to what may or may not be a good idea. OCZ's are constantly on there, just about any make and model. Crucial started popping up a few months ago. Haven't checked lately, but last I looked, Still no Samsung refurbs. That's not to say people haven't had trouble with them.
If you do go Crucial, check out the M500, and go for at least one that is 480GB are larger. The write speed on the 256 (240GB) and smaller drives are inferior to the other drives, I believe this is true for the M4 line as well.
Always had good luck with GSkill memory, it's the only brand I buy for my desktops, and it's what I used to upgrade my Sony laptop as well.

Preview : Quick Key to Delete a Pdf page

Anyone else notice the quick key for deleting a page out of a muli-page pdf does not work? Maybe I am not doing right, someone let me know how they make out.

The only logical reason it's not working (if it's only me) is I have a Microsoft Keyboard Pref in my system preferences. I had no choice in the install when I needed to install the Microsoft Mouse in my system preference. I don't think I need it but I don't want to trash it until someone else can confirm they can indeed a page using the command key sequence. Then I'll have to figure out how to uninstall. I guess grab the original installer form the Microsoft site and hope it has an uninstall feature..and then just for the keyboard and the mouse.
