GT70 2OC Supercharger doesn't work?

I have a GT70 2OC coming up to the end of its 2-year warranty in a few weeks. I recently reformatted the computer and now it will not charge my iPad. It used to charge the iPad before the reformat, so I'd imagine there's a driver/setting issue. However, all the drivers/utilities from msi's website have been installed so I can't tell what the issue is. I also set the iCharger setting in the BIOS to AC mode. I remember there used to be a message that would pop up acknowledging that an iPad has been connected, but now this message does not appear and the iPad displays "Not Charging" in the upper right corner.

Have you reinstalled Super Charger utility?

  • Can't update the firmware of my GT70 2OC (Problems with your firmware)

I can't update the last firmware of GT70 2OC, the guide says run file ecwin.bat as administrator and it will automatically choose which folder of (352x & 353x) is the right one for my notebook and it will run automatically.. well it doesn't do that and it show me this
And this is what inside the firmware.zip
So, which folder is the right one for the GT70 2OC ?  (352x or 353x) ?
Because I can just run the winflash.exe from anyone of them.
BTW Norton removed "Autoflash.exe" it detected it as a medium risk and bad reputation -_-

The problem is I think I installed the wrong one last time :\ because they made the same mistake and the same error appeared -_- so I may have installed the wrong one from the 352x or 353x .. and the touch buttons didn't work since then I think.. maybe that's why !
if you are sure that you reflashed to the wrong one,
then reflash to correct one, there are 2 choices only
ie: if your current is .7xx and you have issues some keys not working or other not working stuffs, then reflash to .5xx
    and opposite

  • MSI GT70-2OC Questions

Hi, I have any questions about my GT70-2OC. Do anyone knows any differencies between 51B bios and 71B bios version?
How I can get it to work Sound Blaster Cinema II software if its possible and SteelSeries Engine? Because i heard If i upgrade my GPU form GTX770 so, SSE will start work. So is there any way how to get it worsk withou gpu upgrade? I think between 2OC and 2QD isn't any hardware different, only GPU is 980GT Thanks.

    51B: UEFI AHCI mode.
    71B: UEFI RAID mode.
They are just different on the default SATA mode. Their BIOS IDs are different too so it's unable to cross-flash. Don't worry.
SSE will only run on laptops with 8xx or 9xx series of NVIDIA graphic cards. If you want to enforce it to run on the laptop with 7xx series of the cards, some said you need some kinds of system tools to modify the hardware ID of your graphic card to cheat the SSE.

  • MSI GT70 2OC Realtek audio driver problem

    Hi,
I am having MSI GT70 2OC-065US. I am using Roccat Kave headphones. Headphone is real 5.1 surround one, hence it comes with four 3.5 mm audio jacks. It used to work well and there was sound from each speaker. But since I have upgraded to latest sound drivers provided on product support page, my rear speakers have stopped working. If I exchange the jack with some other then they work, but speakers which are plugged in rear jack don't work. This means new drivers have probably disabled my rear jack.
Kindly suggest a solution to this problem.

No sorry my friend. My PC is not with me on my holiday so can't help as much as I'd like to.
Restore to previous settings, apparently there is nothing newer (in most cases) just simple bug fixes, and I believe you had no probs before?
Thanks for replying and sorry for disturbing during your holiday. I switched back to my old drivers and everything started working perfectly fine.
I guess there is problem with new drivers.

  • MSI GT70 2OC wins MUST HAVE award by KitGuru

    link: http://www.kitguru.net/laptops/zardon/msi-gt70-2oc-gaming-notebook/24/

Here's what I would personally do....
    Install the SSD.
    Remove the HDD.
Install using the Restore disks, doing a full install.
When it's done, go into Windows and using the Computer Management tool (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management, then go to the "Disk Management" link) and remove the restore partition and leave it as empty, unpartitioned space.
Re-install the HDD into the second bay.
Ensure that the computer is booting from the SSD and not the HDD.
Copy over whatever files you might have on the HDD, and remove all partitions from it, and format it as one large drive.
That should complete what I would do, if it were me.
The reason for leaving the space unpartitioned on the SSD is it essentially gives you more TRIM space, allowing the drive to work more efficiently over a long period of time (ie over years) without 'slowing down' at all. This can happen if you fully partition the SSD and nearly fill the drive. By leaving extra, unparitioned space there, you give it more room to work and make the drive be able to operate more quickly in the long run.

Title says it all - after startup the MSI utilities are loading on my GT70 2OC-065US-SCM/SBCenima & KLM popup with dialog boxes stating that these three have stopped working via > Prob Event Name "BEX"  in the appropriate app .exe
Any Idea as to why this is happening - I have uninstalled these utilities for now and can see no other issues but would like to know if anybody has similar experience as these utilities have value
    Win 8/64
Have not updated to win 8.1.

*Be careful that you're posting in the wrong board. Here is only for the workstation series.
Do you have the pre-installed OS on your GT70 2OC?
Those utility are needed with their value for sure, but for getting a BEX error message isn't normal for sure.
If you have the original system, then I'd suggest to use F3 recovery to restore the system back to the factory settings.
    Tutorial video:
Otherwise, if the OS is installed on your own, then re-install it and use all official drivers from MSI website.

To re-install the system is most suggested (in case there are more unknown problems popping up), but if you don't feel like doing it.
Here I found a work around which might help with the current situation, you can also give it a try.
    [Disable the DEP for programs]
    1. Right click on my computer.
    2. Go to properties.
    3. Click on advanced system settings, under performance, click settings.
    4. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
    5. Click Add, browse to the executable file for the program and add it.
(BEX refers to Buffer Overflow Exception. For more details on BEX, kindly visit http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc738483(WS.10).aspx)

  • GT70 2OC-239XPL SSD installation

Hi, I am going to buy this laptop (GT70 2OC-239XPL) in a few days. It has one 750 gb 7200rpm hard drive by default. I would like to add an ssd (Samsung Evo 840 120 gb) to it. What should I do to have the maximum performance from the ssd I will install. In some websites, I read that adding ssd like this can create some performance issues. I am waiting for your advises. Thank you.

    Quote from: James D on 18-November-13, 11:04:36
Nah, you searched wrong. No way it could cost twice more and you looked at 256GB. 128GB costs 117$ shipped on Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820249032
M5S should cost less but it is rare in the USA. Plextor is faster copy of Crucial so if not 1-st then buy 2nd (M500 or M4).
Speaking about SF. On any good SSD forum or general PC/notebook forum people already know that you can't trust SF. Yes, Intel is doing better than other. I guess because Intel writes IRST drivers and writes good firmware. But everybody who looked good at history of SandForce starting from OCZ 2 BSODS and dissappearing and further will do what many other people... just turned away from it.
Why not if SF offers good speed in compressible data and so-so in non-compressible + bad reputation + totally different algorithm of writing to chip like Durawrite etc etc etc.
The best reason to move to Marvel or Barefoot or Samsung is because many SSD manufacturers run away from SandForce to other controllers: OCZ and Corsair did it for more than year and they use advertisement that they are no more slow as they were.
To sum up. I believe that everyone can prefer what he likes. I surely will stick with my and will continue to advice what other people do not have problems with. I am free for new info and will not advice Samsung Pro if people got troubles with it in MSI laptops even though on other MSI forum I have never heard this. You can offer Intel or any other SSD if you want to.
So you are right. I did look at the wrong one.
As for samsung, if you haven't seen it on other forums (I already know you frequent notebookreview....its there too....) then thats probably because you haven't looked or seen it cause people found out it was terrible.
As far as others, they moved on because they used the original SF controllers, and I won't deny they were bad. But that's not the same with the SF2281. As has been proven time after time. But go ahead, keep using their old controllers against them. How about Marvell? How about their insanely horrid controller that was so bad you couldn't even multitask with one of their SSD's? You aren't holding that against them.....and you sit here and promote a drive based on one of their controllers but continue bashing Sandforce. So get off your high horse and stop the bashing on Sandforce, unless you're going to hold Marvell to the same standards and stop recommending a SSD from a controller company with a history of very bad and slow controllers. Double standards such as those really reflect badly.
Samsung 840 Pros are well known to not work well, usually only running at SATA2 speeds, sometimes not even showing up in the BIOS. I'm not saying they are bad drives, or they don't perform well, I'm stating that they just don't work well in these laptops.
As far as Plextor, sure, go ahead and buy it.

  • GT70 2OC: Quick keys

  • MSI GT70 2OC Questions (Unlocked Bios, upgrade VGA drivers)

Hi Iam looking for some answers, from what I saw, there are few really awesome helping people here. So Hi to everyone!
AS I noticed there is no GT70 2OC topic here, so there is now.  I will update infos How-to´s and other stuff for everyone that have this revision.
    1. Update VGA drivers, Set as default there is nvidia optimus (Intel+nvidia switching mode)
         Pros:  Battery life
Cons: Faulty switching in some games, just sporadic driver support, 2 VGA drivers at once couse problems with CAD applications and some older games.
Comment: Iam using this as Hi-end mobile solution for work and games, extra 4th hour of battery live comes as real nonsense to me in exchange for ale the troubles.
Possible solution: Unlocking hidden/advanced BIOS options should reveal control for wheter to swithing mode od discrete graphics only. Setting it to discrete graphics only would mean no driver troubles slightly better performance and most importanly possibilyty of regular VGA driver updates from nvidia.
I already send PM to Svet about unlocking bios. But Iam still asking any ideas anyone?

Sadly most of those concerns aren't really valid.
While I have the old GT70 0NE, even on this unit there were no issues ever getting any program (be it Autocad/Solidworks/whatever you like, or games either, even if they were older) to work with the card(s) properly. It's all a matter of making it do what you want, which is actually handled rather well by the drivers. Optimus is much better than it was a while ago, and it functions very well now.
While your your point of just making it default to the NVidia card is valid, it's a very moot point. Every program I've tried (be it 10+ year old games even from the mid-90's, to even the most recent applications and games) works just fine. Again, it's all in how you make the driver work. If you tell it to use the NVidia card when you run this program, it'll work.
I wouldn't worry about making it use only the NVidia card exclusively, it really isn't worth the effort. While it is possible, it's much more difficult than one would think....

  • GT70 2OC SSD upgrade possible?

    Hi everyone,
I am looking into buying the GT70 2OC (-014BE) notebook. Only downside here is that it only comes with a 750GB HDD. It does not come with the MSata SSD's like most models.
My question is if it is possible to install a extra 2,5" SSD without any modifications? So pretty much if there is an open 2,5" slot with sata connection to plug an SSD in.
Or is the MSata controller present (even if it doesn't come with the actual SSD's) and could I just buy and use MSata SSD's instead?
So far the research I done about this has been very conflicting and giving me pretty much every possible answer

From what I can gather by doing a google search, the GT70 2OC-014BE is a european model. It comes with only a single 750 GB mechanical HDD installed. There will NOT be a SuperRaid adapter, which means you will most likely have a spot for a normal 2.5" SATA drive. You could install a 2.5" SSD into that spot if you desired.
Have a look at the assembly/disassembly guide sub forum FAQ to see how to take apart the laptop in order to install the drive. It's not really that hard. About 16 screws on the bottom panel, and 2 more to hold the HDD caddy into the laptop.

  • GT70 2OC Win8 Various BSOD's?

So I got my new GT70 2OC with windows 8 pre-installed, and started having BSOD's, so I decided to run all the windows updates and update all the drives. Well now I keep getting various BSOD's, including but not limited to; PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, as well as MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM. I have tried, multiple times; sfc /scannow, chkdsk, windows memory test, as well as the DISM variants. I also uninstalled bluestack, since that was generating errors in the Event viewer logs.
The system is not overheating as far as I can tell via core temp, and I was planning to install an SSD and install win7 to that.
Should I RMA, or just go ahead with win7 on an SSD?

Quote from: GendoIkari on 13-November-13, 04:48:21
Ok, so after a few more BSODs, I noticed that having the killer wireless on seems to be a factor, so  I tried to re-install the Killer wireless/LAN drivers with the ones off the DVD the notebook came with, but that caused another BSOD. SO I disabled both the wired lan and wireless, and it uninstalled the drivers. I just re-installed the drivers and I'll see how this works. I hope I don't have to  try and RMA this thing.
The Killer Networks drivers were REALLY bad....I fought them for MANY months....
I would suggest trying out the latest drivers from their website. They tend to be much better the past few releases now.
