GT70-2OD BSOD after BIOS /EC update

Hello all,
I was having wireless disconnect issues with the Killer N1202. I had changed a couple of my wireless router's settings and updated to the latest Killer drivers / network manager and turned off the application monitoring. I still had the disconnect issue.
In my zeal to fix the problem, I decided to flash the BIOS and EC firmware. The notebook is the GT70-2OD (1763) RAID, full color backlit keyboard, Windows 8 64-bit so these are the files I used to flash:
BIOS - w8_E1763IMS.70E.zip - flashed with EFI_Boot process
EC firmware - w8_1763EMS1.505.zip - used winflash in Windows 8 - made sure i closed as many apps as I could beforehand.
Followed the flashing instructions to the letter. After each flash, disconnected the AC and removed the battery for no less than 5 minutes.
When I booted the notebook back up, I got the BSOD - VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (igdkmd64.sys) when I tried to log in to Windows. At that point, had to go into safe mode and disable the Intel graphics driver. This allowed me to log in. I then tried updating the Intel graphics driver to the latest Win8-64 version. Still got the same BSOD at login.
With even more zeal, decided to rebuild to the factory Windows installation with the MSI recovery.  It pulls up the initial config screens in Windows, but still the same BSOD. Can't even get to safe mode now or get past the configuration screens. Safe mode isn't an option either. Windows throws an error that it cannot enter safe mode because setup has not completed. So much for zeal.
Just looking for some suggestions.
Is there a way to roll back the EC and BIOS? If I can, and if it's even advisable at this point, where would I find the older versions? The product and download sites only list the most recent.
Thanks for any help on this.

I haven't tried any different drivers other than the ones I mentioned in my post. I will try a fresh install of the OS and go from there. Ran the memtest86+ util for three passes and the memory looks good. Unfortunately, I didn't record what versions of the previous EC and BIOS.
I will post the results of the fresh OS install soon.
Thanks
George

  • Satellite Pro L300: BSOD after BIOS update

    Hi
after update the Bios of Satellite Pro L300, the windows not start!
Its show the blue dead screen!
    What can i do?

    Hi
Are you able to access the BIOS settings?
Im not quite sure why this BSOD appears but possibly the SATA mode settings have been changed after BIOS update
Usually the SATA mode should be set to AHCI if the SATA drivers are installed.
But if the SATA drivers are not included the SATA mode should be set to compatible.
    Please check this!
Furthermore you could set the BIOS to the default settings and could try to boot the machine again.

  • Bsod after bios update 1.4 - 1.5 + Windows automatic repair loops

After i updated my bios with liveupdate5 my computer started acting up with endless automatic repairs for w8.1 and random bsods for w7. Changing bios settings and restoring defaults does not solve the issue :-/
Is it possible to revert back to the 1.4 somehow?

Quote from: RemusM on 07-March-14, 21:50:06
v1.5 was released 3 months ago.
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H87MG43.html#/?div=BIOS
Did you clear the CMOS (and reload the default settings) after the BIOS update?
hm true, weird how they just now was displayed in the live update. No, I havent done any type of manual cmos clearing, but it would seem that the live update takes care of that as far as the instructions goes.
Patching back to 1.4 without any light in the tunnel. The computer still does no longer boot futher than the windowslogo before bsod. Reinstalling windows does not help :-/

  • T61 - BSoD After BIOS Update Attempt

    Hello everybody,
I was attempting to update my BIOS since I had problem with my hard-drive(enclosure) being recognized by my laptop and I believed that would solve the issue. Now, my biggest problem I have is a blue screen turning up after the failed attempt of updating the BIOS.
How do I go about this to fixing it? troubleshoot? recommendations?
I would greatly appreciate the help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Bios rarely (virtually never) fixes problems, unless it is specifically released to fix a problem that you are confirmed as having. No one should attempt to update a bios on a system with a problem, you're likely to destroy the system board, however in your case this may be very simple. If your operating system was installed with the sata controller in compatibility mode, then the bios update will set it to default SATA mode and windows will "blue screen" upon boot. Enter bios and change SATA setting to compatibility mode and report.
If that doesn't do the trick, post more info about your system, everything on the bottom label except the serial number. and your windows version.

  • Windows 2008 Hyper-v Guest - BSOD after Integrated Services updated

    Hi,
Hyper-V single node with Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter - the VM had its Integrated Services update and rebooted properly. After that, Windows 2008 start and shows BSOD as listed below - safe mode doesn't work. Any tips?
    Vinicius Deschamps

    Hi deschamps,
Is the VM brand new setup ?
Did you try to attach the VM's VHDx file to another new created VM ?
Also you can try to mount the vhdx file and copy Dump File (default path  %SystemRoot%)then analysis it :

  • W7 BSODs after installing Bootcamp update

My machine is MBA which is configured to be OSX/W7 dual boot system using Bootcamp.
I installed updateds of Bootcamp 3.2 121.25MB and Apple Software 2.1.3 2.22MB. The udates were downloaded and installed on W7.
After the installation, W7 does not boot or BSODs, but OS X 10.6.8 still boot fine.  What could be the remedy?

The rollback was used to fix the same problem about three months ago. By this time since, I am wondering if Apple or somebody has come up with a better way to fix it. That is a way to repair without undoing the updates installation.

  • GT70 2OD failure to configure Windows update

I've tried a system restore and did a fresh Windows install. After doing a Windows update and restarting, it will day failure to configure Windows update reverting changes. It's done this 3 times now. Could it be something going on with the ssd? Mine is preconfigured with the 3 x 120 SSD super RAID0.
I can system restore or refresh install, but after updating, same issue.

Sometimes Windows update got some priority for programs,
make sure some programs you should install in advance.

  • GT70 2OD downloads bios driver firmware

    i have GT70 2OD-019US
i tried to update my graphic card driver from  http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT70-2OD.html#download
it didnt work it said not compatiable
im using latest beta driver from nvidia webiste
you guys have right stuff on the website
there is so much variation i didnt see GT70 2OD-019US link so i guess i could use downloads from GT70 20D
    maybe im wrong
download was hard to find and stuff not working
    support sucks

Quote from: spacealien on 17-September-13, 04:21:57
im confused just as you are.
I like to keep my stuff updated to the latest so i went to nvidia website
download the driver for geforce gtx 780m
i tried to install the driver but it wont let me install cuz it's not compatible with my card
so i went to the link above download the oem graphic card driver which im not too clear it's right one for my laptop
cuz it's doesn't say gtx 780 it says something like nvidia n14 chipset i have no idea what it mean
i installed it cuz that's all i can find for my laptop. it let me install but my geforce card doesn't work
my laptop switch over to intel graphic card and my nvidia card has red x on it under device tree
fortunately i found the latest beta nvidia work on my laptop otherwise i could ended up with non working video card
    the title
all the downloads im not sure they are right stuff for my laptop
i updated bios, firmware, and some of the driver
they are working so far i haven't found any problem with them
the graphic card driver make me think that maybe the stuff i updated might not be right for my laptop
im confused with many gt 70 series
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win8-win7-64bit-326.80-beta-driver.html
    Try that driver.
The problem with the 320.49 'release' drivers is that they don't include the proper information to work with the newer GTX7XXM video cards on MSI laptops. You need to download the latest beta drivers, as they have the proper information to work. The next release, whatever that might be, should work just fine then.
As far as the other drivers...
    http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT70-2OC.html#download
should have all the drivers you need. You can try going to the individual manufacturer website to update them too, such as Intel for the Intel iGPU.

Yes it is,but you may need to use attached archive. [.1xx and .3xx and Win7 BIOSes, your current one is Win8 BIOS]
by extract all files then executing FLASHWIN64.BAT
once flashing is done change Sata mode from RAID[default] to AHCI

  • GT70 2OD Random BSODs

    Hi,
    I have a new GT70 2OD 058au (less than 2 weeks old).
I ran updates the day I received the computer which included updating to Windows 8.1. I have been getting BSODs randomly most days since I got the computer, sometimes with different codes and while doing different tasks.
I have updated all the drivers I can through Windows (have not done firmware, Bios or the F6 IRST)
If anyone could help me with why this might be happening it would be greatly appreciated.
please message me if you need minidump files, I guess I am not supposed to add links in here.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Sorry for the delay, fairly busy as the moment so not getting much of a chance to check on here.
BSOD errors have been a few different ones. I cant remember off the top of my head.
I have a zip file on skydrive with driver list and minidumps etc..
I know im not supposed to put links on here, but I cant seem to find a way to upload the info. So I do apologize for this, but Im not capable of looking into the code stuff to be able to help you help me.
