GT70 BSODs 9F and x116

Hello,
Good Morning/Night,
I have a laptop, MSI GT70 with the following specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64x
Intel Core i7 3660QM
NVIDIA GTX 675M
12GB RAM
And the following problem:
A few months ago, my notebook started to show some strange BSODs, at the beginning they ware rare and only rebooted with no further issue, then after some time, Windows displayed my GPU as Standard VGA Driver with a "caution" icon, and suddenly unninstal the nvidia driver. I tried a lot of solutions on the web:
-Clean OS install with default drivers.
-Computer cleanup
-Updated Drivers
-expand nvlldksm.sys (sorry i don't remember the exact name)
-etc (i don't remember everything i did)
Nowadays i have this problem: When my computer stays turned off for a few time and i turn on, windows recognizes normally the GPU, BUT when i try to play a game, it runs for 5-10 minutes and then freezes with a BSOD, normally 0x116 (95% of the time) and when it reboots, something strange happens, it freezes before windows logo or freezes on "Welcome" screen, so i reboot in safe mode, and the GPU is still showing in Device Manager, but without loading its drivers. Then i reboot again, and when windows succesfully reboots the GPU is shown as "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" with a yellow triangle in it.
I really don't know what to do. MY CONCLUSIONS:
-Something with the driver (because the problem occurs when the driver is loading or is fully loaded)
-The hardware seems to be fine: in some rare occasions i was able to play for a few hours like when Windows installed the NVIDIA driver 327.02 and i was able to play for a few hours, note that 327.02 isn't compatible with my GPU)
Any help will be very welcome. I payed a lot for this notebook, about 8000 BRL or 4000 USD 2 years ago. It was a real sacrifice. The purpose is just gaming.
The computer has 2 years old, and always did its job perfectly.
Thank You in advance.
PS: sorry for any spelling mistakes, my native language is portuguese.

Well, i am a bit disappointed with MSI, i spent one whole year gathering money to buy this notebook, here in my country, everything is very expensive, so i payed 4000 USD for a "not very powerfull" gaming notebook, and he came with a throttling problem, was a pain in the a** to fix it, and now he is almost useless, i cannot play games, the purpose of this notebook has been compromised with those BSODs.
And i can't buy another mobile GPU, here in my country a common GTX 970 costs up to 700 USD, so imagine how much would cost a mobile GTX... and i think that i wouldn't be able to find mobile GPUs for sale here.
By the way, i live in Brazil.
And the 675m is more fragile because it's architecture is Fermi, the GTX 670m and 680m are both Kepler, which is way better than Fermi.
If anyone has any possible help, please help, it will be a great sacrifice to build a new computer.
Maybe you can send the laptop back in for RMA. I have seen a user here mentioned MSI RMA would provide GPU upgrade when they run out of the spare parts. So maybe you can get a new mobile GPU from them, it may not be cheap though.

  • GT70 BSOD or Stuck after Windows puts it to sleep mode of turns off monitor

    Hi Everyone!
i have an  issue (or 2) with my laptop.
    both happens when:
    1) whenever i put the laptop into sleep mode or either windows does so automatically (inactive period), - the laptop will go to sleep just fine.
    2) windows turns off monitor after a period of inactivity. (sleep mode due to inactivity was disabled in this case)
in both the cases i mentions above, if i wake the computer within lets say 5 minutes, it'll turn on just fine.
but after a certain period of time passes it wont.
with the sleep mode, the computer will wake and will then produce a BSOD STOP error 0x4 and restart.
with monitor turned off it'll simply wont turn on, not responding to neither keyboard, mouse or power button. - i have to do a hard reboot
    any ideas?
    anything i can check?
note the laptop just came back from a warranty repair, so all parts have been tested and been found ok!
    system specs:
    MSI GT70-0ND
CPU: Intel Core i7-3630QM 2.4GHz (Intel GPU HD 4000 included)
    Memory: 16GB DDR3
    Storage: 750GB HDD 7200rpm
128GB SSD (Patriot Pyro SE) - OS installed on this.
GPU: 4GB NVIDIA Geforce GTX 675MX
    OS: Windows 7 64bit
    Thanks in Advance!!

i dont think i have the same problem as in the other thread.
    my bios:
my laptop doesnt restart when my screen is turned off and i try to wake it. it would simply wont wake up.
and my BSOD happens only after i wake the laptop from sleep mode and only if it been in sleep mode for a while. meaning i if i wake it up within a few mins of going to sleep it'll boot justfine.

  • BSOD System_Service_Exception and Driver_Verifier_Detection on HP m9520f PC

    Hello,
I recently re-formatted and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate 64x on my HP Pavilion Elite m9520f PC.
I encountered the BSOD crashes several times a day of having the "System_Service_Exception 0x0000003B" and DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION 0x000000c4 error. The system automatically restarts when the BSOD takes place.
I have installed the most recent NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GS driver update to see if it solves the problem but nothing was solved. I also went to the Advanced Boot Options and did the last known good configuration option but did not work. More information on how to solve this problem would be sincerely appreciated.

Unplug the PC from household power.
    Remove the memory modules.
Put a single stick of memory into the slot nearest the CPU.
Once that is done you can plug the PC back in to see if it boots up.
If it does not boot up then unplug the PC.  Remove that memory module and put the other module in its place, plug in the PC and try booting up again.

  • BSOD's and boot errors on HP Blackbird 002

    Hello,
I have a HP BLACKBIRD 002 LC with Quad Core - Intel(R) Core2(TM) Quad-Core 2.4GHz Q6600, 2 GB 1066MHz CORSAIR PC2-8500 DDR2 SDRAM, ASUS Striker Extreme, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX, with 768MB of GDDR3 SDRAM running Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate.
I’ve had it since December 2007 and have had no problems whatsoever until this past December (2011).  Around the 30th or 31st of December, I started getting Blue Screens of Death (BSOD’s) at random points all with multiple and variable errors.  I’ve tried going into SAFE mode and SAFE mode with networking to resolve the issue, but would eventually get a BSOD.  Sometimes now, it won’t even power on the monitor or it shuts down completely when I try to enter the BIOS setup.  Other times, it boots into the NVIDIA boot agent and then exits due to some error.
Prior to December 2011 and the errors, I did not install any new hardware nor any major software, besides routine software upgrades that would pop up.  I conducted weekly scans with AVG virus software.  Last major thing I did was uninstall a game.
Since then I have tried changing the power source cabling, checking the seating of components and cabling inside, recovering Windows to earlier images (20 and then 15 December), re-installing Windows, replacing the CMOS battery, and running whatever memory or hardware diagnostic tools that I can find in the internal menus and the Vista CD.  My brother-in-law, who works as an IT help desk guy, took a look at it remotely and couldn’t figure it out.  I sent him some of the Minidump files(which I still have and can send) and the best he could isolate was consistent errors in the Minidump files with this “ntkrnlpa.exe    ntkrnlpa.exe+1026e0    0x82411000    0x827cb000    0x003ba000    0x4ea6b87e .”
I did not make a recovery disc since the shadow copy backed everything up.  I do have a full system image from earlier in December that I can use to recover my files, so at this point I’m fine with restoring the factory settings if that’s even possible.
I have no idea what to do next, so would appreciate any advice.  Thanks.

I'd pull the "backplane" (the PCB out) and run power and data cables to the drives which I would keep in there caddys.
...and as you said if you need the LED lighting, you can always find a power source for those somewhere.

  • Windows BSOD - IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

Having a bunch of issues with my pc.. i ve built this a while ago (1.5 years ago-ish).
Recently one of my ssd failed (i had win installed on it). I couldn't install windows successfully on my second ssd because the installation process kept failing.. turns out one of the RAM sticks must ve been corrupt. After I singled out which one it was,
    it all went fine..
Now my win has been running just fine for a day but I started getting BSOD's when in a game or running a video.
Most of the time it gives the error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, and one time it gave the UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP error.
I did 3 mem tests; my 3 remaining RAM sticks seem to be fine from the memtests' perspective.
I used FurMark GPU Stress Test to see if the video card is one at fault, and got no BSOD as it was pushed to the limit.
The only other things I can think of are PSU and mainboard ?

    Thanks,

These crashes were related to memory corruption (probably caused by a driver).
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.  Please run verifier first.  You do not need to run memtest yet unless you want to.
If you are over-clocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
    In other words STOP!!!
If you do not know what this means you probably are not
1-Driver verifier (for complete directions see our wiki here)
2-Memtest. (You can read more about running memtest here)

We have two users, one with a T420 and one with a T430, both with Windows 8 who are getting BSOD's up to 20 times a day.  The reason is Reference_By_Pointer.  Both users have applied all Windows updates as well as all driver updates from Lenovo System Update to no avail.  This has been very frustrating.  Any help/input would be greatly appreciated.

BlueScreenView might be able to pinpoint the exact driver causing the problem.

  • Blue screen error (BSOD) during and after installation of Windows 7

I had to reinstall Windows 7 via the recovery partition. During the installation I kept getting Blue screen errors and even now I am still getting BSOD within minutes. I have no problem in safe mode.
My laptop is a Satellite C650D-12C. I wanted to update BIOS but I can't in safe mode. What should I do next?

Recovery image saved on HDD is tested so everything should be OK with recovery image installation.
What you can try is to use Microsoft installation disc to see if the same will happen again.
If yes, Im afraid you need professional help with this. Notebook has probably valid warranty so the service guys should check this.
    Have you created recovery DVD?
BTW: I think BIOS update is not solution. Recovery installation must work with this original BIOS version.

  • GT70-2OD BIOS and may need blind-flash

    Hi,
I update to the latest bios yesterday, i can still access the bios settings but no system will boot. No cd/dvd will boot  in any mode be it uefi or legacy.
Should I do a blind flash? How do you do it on the gt70?
    Thanks for your help

Did you originally have system in the laptop? Did you mean it won't boot after updating BIOS?
If so, go to the BIOS -> Boot menu and find something like "UEFI Hard Disk Drive BBS Priorities" and make sure it is set to "Windows Boot Manager".
If you just want to boot up from CD/DVD, you may need to press F11 to open booting menu and select your CD/DVD device. Make sure your disc supports the boot mode you selected (UEFI or legacy).

  • GT70 Dominator screen and touch buttons issue

    Hi guys
Got myself a GT70 Dominator and everything works well except for the screen and touch buttons sometimes.
First of all the screen. It works well BUT it starts to flicker sometimes. The screen is working and then suddenly it just starts to flicker and everything is doubled for 20-40 seconds. I have the latest GPU drivers for my nvidia and intel GPU's.
And the thing with my touch buttons is that, the G button, the one left of the G button and the Media player button are not working(Plane mode, keyboard lighting and cooling buttons are all working).
    Any help is much appreciated!
UPDATE: The touch buttons started working again just out of the blue ...

I've never heard of something like that with the screen. If it's still rather new, I'd probably consider sending it back to MSI for them to look at it.

  • BSOD, restart and bugcheck

The computer is used to watch cameras - 4 Mobotix on IP, 1 IP 1920x1080 and 15 analogue. When I connect to it everyday in the morning I see both programs which show cameras closed. I've read somewhere on Windows 7 forum, that it might be from the small amount RAM. Constant traffic from the cameras is avg 12-14Mbps. It has only one HDD, which I've recently changed., because of bad sectors.  It does it since they're watching these all cameras - so about 1-2 months or even more.
This is the log from event viewer from today. There was also problem with the LAN cables from looses connections, but I've fixed it last night and all night till 11:30AM next the cameras were showing up.

For the bugcheck information, please see:
    Bug Check 0xC000021A: STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED
The result shows that The Winlogon process terminated unexpectedly.
The cause is explained as below:
This error occurs when a user-mode subsystem, such as WinLogon or the Client Server Run-Time Subsystem (CSRSS), has been fatally compromised and security can no longer be guaranteed. In response, the operating system switches to kernel mode. Microsoft Windows
cannot run without WinLogon or CSRSS. Therefore, this is one of the few cases where the failure of a user-mode service can shut down the system.
Mismatched system files can also cause this error. This can occur if you have restored your hard disk from a backup. Some backup programs might skip restoring system files that they determine are in use.
To resolve this issue, you may take a try with the following command:
    Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    Reference:
    Fixing component
store corruption in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012
Or you may take a PC refresh.

  • GT70 20C Reimage and Supress or Stop 3rd party software.

    Hello,
I am wondering if anyone knows of a way I can run the system restore but only install windows 8 with out the out dated drivers or extra software?
    Thank you.

As long as you install the same version of Windows 8 (ie Windows 8 Home, or Windows 8 Professional) that came with your laptop originally, it should work and activate just fine. There's plenty of tutorials about this online, but I don't have one offhand. Google it and you should be able to figure it out.

  • GT70-2OC BIOS and may need blind-flash

    Hi,
I need a latest working BIOS. it's just that I seem to have a problem of not being able to access BIOS using DEL/F2 on boot.
I tried updating to E1763IMS.50V which works, then E1763IMS.518 where it doesn't seem to boot anymore. I'm hoping someone could also help me out with this.
Is this somehow bricked? Can anyone provide a better instruction on how to recover this? So far I've tried CMOS reset, and battery drain.
Need guidance and support. Thank you

I just stated that I can't even boot at all. So no OS.
I'm hoping not to get go with RMA. I'm a technical guy and I know almost what I did, yet got totally unlucky on *518* BIOS.
On other hand, just thinking ahead for worst case scenario... can anyone here point out exactly where the BIOS chip on the mobo? A screenshot will be very helpful. And also, is it possible to ask for support to provide me an actual chip-image of the BIOS so I can reprogram it when needed.
    Thanks in advance

  • GT70 2PE FN and CTRL keys swapped!

    Hey guys,
So this is a very weird problem: recently after a reboot, my FN and Left CTRL keys got swapped.
I understand this happens at BIOS/EC level, but haven't touched/flashed those in a while. I've been using a custom BIOS provided by Svet for about 4 months, and never had any issues with it or keyboard problems such as this one.
Anybody know what's happeneing here? How do I fix this? Thanks in advance

    huh
can you check if they are swapped in windows only or also in bios setup or outside windows?
and have you done EC reset? https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/how-to-reset-the-ec-embedded-controller
Hey Svet, thx for fast reply,
Currently I have a dual-boot configuration (Windows 8.1/Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, both 64-bit) and I can confirm it also happens in Ubuntu, so it must not be Windows related.
Also I noticed one thing, when I went to BIOS to check current EC version all I found was something like this:
    EC Version: Sve???? Ver?.??
EC Build: <a large string of numbers>
if you want I can post a photo of this. So should I still reset the EC like you said?
