Gt72 dominator pro constantly crashing

I ordered this notebook and upon receiving it plugged it into the wall then turned it on. After the initial windows 8.1 setup stuff, it will boot into desktop just fine.
However, once the laptop is in windows and I try to download anything or install anything I get an error screen saying my computer has ran into an error and it is gathering data about the error, and the error code is the same every single time (0x000001d2).
I've tried googling the error code and have not found any helpful information whatsoever. So, I returned the notebook to the vendor and got a replacement.
The thing is, I am having the exact same issue with the replacement that I received.
Does anyone have any idea of what might be going on ?

As far as I know, Killer NIC is only for Ethernet, so this might be crashing because wired connection is not enabled/connected and WLAN is interfering with this.
If the internet (WLAN and LAN) works fine without this Killer driver, then uninstall it and leave as it is.
Well.....there's more to this than one would imagine.
Windows itself has NEVER handled Wired and Wireless connections well together. My tablet at work, which is almost always on wireless (now), used to crash all the time if I used the ethernet port when it was docked. I quit using the Ethernet port because of the crashing.
As far as the Killer NIC is concerned, on the newer GT and GE (I believe) notebooks, both the wired NIC and the wireless are Killer Networks based devices. Usually an E2200 for the Wired and a 1202N for the wireless.
Anyway...just some info for Nichrome.
As far as the user, there are 2 stickies at the top of the forum. 1 for the drivers (there's both Wireless and wired, if you look), and 1 for how to use the Killer drivers from the Killer Networks website and then remove the 'extra software' they include so you're left with just drivers. This method tends to work rather well.

Considerably improved over the GT70, purchased from Ken at GenTech PC, I am one of the first official GT72 owners on the planet.
So, what improvements does the GT72 bring to the table?
     1. Improved chassis design.
     2. Larger touchpad, smooth and seamless with the palm rest.
     3. A large, cool to the touch, glass-like polymer palm rest.
     4. More USB 3.0 ports.
     5. A 230W PA.
     6. A 1080p webcam
     7. Revised Steelseries keyboard, flex-free, with brighter back-lighting.
     8. Dual fan cooling solution, with improved chassis vent design, a better fan control profile, ergo.....
     9. Better overall temps, with quieter operation.
     10. Re-designed chassis, and finally a new model designation.
     11. Gone is the problematic capacitance touch bar, replaced with positive touch switches.
     12. Gone is finicky Optimus switching, replaced with a simple dedicated GPU switch.
     13. mSATA SuperRAID 2, is replaced with M.2 SuperRAID 3, increasing speed, and the capacity of the RAID set. ( M.2 should improve significantly with the Intel 9-Series chipset)
     14. Killer Doubleshot Pro, wherein Ethernet and Wireless can be used independently, or simultaneously for improved bandwidth.
     15. And finally, due to the overall re-design, a more intuitive gaming experience.

    Initial thoughts......
Well, here it is..... the MSI GT72-2PE Dominator Pro-007US, and the photos below do not do it justice. It's Bold, it's Bad, it's Fast, it's Powerful, and honestly, there is not much, not to like about this notebook. If there is one thing I feel could have been better, it would be the display. The Chi Mei CMN1735 has good brightness, color, and contrast, but lacks decent viewing angles.
Anyhow, I have already spent a lot of time with tweaking, photos, benchmarks, etc., so I am going to cut-to-the-chase, and try to make this as short as possible.
As to performance, the benchmarks below attest to the GT72's awesomeness, so what about noise, and the redesigned dual-fan cooling solution? Simply put, it is quieter than the GT70, has a better fan profile, and temps are well managed. Given the hardware, of course you will hear the fans spin up when the system is stressed, but it is not at all disturbing..... and when doing common task, the fans are only noticed if you get close and cozy with the system. Ambient room temperature was 78F, and the system's idle temps were CPU@38C, and GPU@36C. Without the use of Cooler Booster ('stock' fan profile only), during benchmarks the CPU reached 78C, and the GPU averaged 80C, peaking to 82C during the 3DMark Sky Diver benchmark. The palm rest remains cool to the touch, it's polymer is smooth as glass, and it's surface is seamless across the touchpad. Only a mild warmth rises from the keyboard.
The Steelseries keyboard is indeed flex-free, keys are very positive and responsive, and the back-lighting is brighter..... which I attribute to the keyboard's re-design. Looks awesome!
So what about SuperRAID 3, is it fast? Oh YEAH! Performance exceeds SuperRAID 2, as expected, and the system boots to desktop in as little as 6 to 7 seconds. HD Tune Pro reports an average read time for the Toshiba M.2 SSD's, as 1535MB/s..... while the previous SuperRAID 2 Sandisk X100 mSATA SSD's was an average of 1411MB/s. On the other hand, SuperRAID 3 really shines in the Crystal Disk Mark scores. To best evaluate the 'Real-World' performance of SuperRAID 3, I used the PCMark 8 Storage Test. For those unfamiliar with this benchmark, the performance score of 5014 is very respectible. The duration of this grueling benchmark is generally 1 to 3 hours, and the GT72 sped through in just 1 hour and 8 minutes. All in all, I applaud MSI's use of the new M.2 SSD's, but I think performance will most improve with future 9-Series Intel chipsets.
With all the attributes I've mentioned above, it is when gaming, that you understand the mastery of it's intuitive design. The re-designed flex-free keyboard, the large smooth & heat-free palm rest, the spatial Dynaudio speakers, and vivid display, all lend to an immersive gaming experience. So much so, I found myself playing my test game, far longer than originally intended.
To run the GT72 through it's paces, I chose the recently released, AMD optimized title, Sniper Elite III, by Rebellion. With settings max'ed to 'Ultra', the GTX-880M smoothly sliced through the frames like a hot knife to butter, with frame-rates from 54 to 82Fps, averaging at 65Fps. Game play was extremely smooth and fluid, and never a hic-cup or artifact.
To represent the 'Out-of-the-Box' experience, I played with the stock fan profile, and Cooler Booster was never used. Like with my benchmark testing, the fan noise was not disturbing, and game audio though the Dynaudio speakers easily comes to the forefront. Fan noise was never a distraction. Temps of the GPU peaked to 82C, but averaged 64C, and the CPU peaked at 68C, averaging 54C. Again, with hardware like this, and without the use of Cooler Booster, these temps are outstanding.... and the new dual fan design is a success!
Initially I intended my game session to be an hour..... in no time it became 3+ hours, and playing on this notebook is simply FUN!
The look and feel is very stylish, and smooth finish is actually somewhat fingerprint resistant. Overall, with these great looks, it's fully loaded system specs, and stellar performance scores, the MSI GT72 Dominator Pro not only entitles bragging rights..... it DEMANDS them!
All of this has me VERY excited for the upcoming next-gen 9-Series, Maxwell, X-treme Edition GT72! Can't wait!
    Enjoy!

↑ GT72 using their own motherboard, which from MSI.
↑ The only different between a MYR9,999 and a MYR11,999 GT72 Dominator Pro is the capacity of the RAM: 16GB and 32GB.
↑ It getting 604 in CPUmark.
↑ GT72 equips with Super RAID 3 512GB SSD, which provide a 5 seconds start up time(From button to desktop). Average getting a 1,586 MB/s READING speed, and 1,325 MB/s WRITING speed on ATTO Disk Bench Mark.
↑ And the HDD getting an average 133 MB/s READING speed and an average 131 MB/s WRITING speed.
↑ Tested it with another software, and got a result of 1422 MB/s READING speed and 1081 MB/s WRITING speed on SSD, isn't that much differences from the test above.
    ↑ A 125 MB/s READING speed and 105 MB/s WRITING speed on HDD.
    ↑ Take a look on GTX980MB
Benchmark by using 3DMark Professional Edition:
    3D Mark 11 Advanced Edition:
    ↑ On ENTRY level
    ↑ On PERFORMANCE level
    ↑ On XTREAME level
Besides on gaming performance, it's very important to make sure it support casual works as well.
↑ On PCmark 8 HOME for some common home computing test: 4653
↑ On PCmark 8 CREATIVE for experts and proffesionals: 5445
↑ On PCmark 8 WORK for some simple office productivity test: 4401
↑ On PCmark 8 STORAGE to test SSD & HDD: 5017, and getting a average 330 MB/s Storage bandwidth.
At last, we'll be doing CPU heat test:
↑ Before we run the test, the cores temperature is around 40 degrees, and 33 degrees on hard disk.
↑ After we had run for a 30 minutes maxed performance test, with full fans on, we're getting 75 - 80 degrees on CPU cores and unbelievable still 33 degrees on hard disk.
To be honest, after tried on GT72 Dominator PRO, I just can't live without it anymore.
The BattleField 4 running smoothly with photoshop on background, I can finally play some video games while taking a break on my photo editing and graphic design works, in the coffee shop of course.
Although it looks pretty heavy, but it's actually much portable than I thought, in facts it's phenomenal thin for such a powerful performance beast.
Carry around with the backpack it provided isn't a difficult task at all.
Besides, one last thing to show:
↑ Sexiest design that let the heats never became an issue anymore.

yeah.... with so much different angle and good quality, they are truly good photo shooting pieces!

    hello
what bios version you are using?

  • Gt72 Dominator Pro

I just bought the gt72 dominator pro and was wondering how easy would it be for me to upgrade the ram, install a new ssd drive, or upgrade the processor? Also I was wondering for those that own it has it been a good computer? Pros/Cons?

Doesn't look too hard to upgrade the ram or ssd but it has a BGA CPU, so I'm afraid you can't upgrade it.

Ok, I have some more infor for you guys:
The cover underneath my mac is kinda bulky, could that make it touch a sensor of some sort? Because when I get the RAM 3-beeps I usually just knock underneath the mac and turn it on again and the problem is solved until I touch the cover again. Could this mean a defect sensor or cable?
I also lost the two black dots on the cover on the left side.
Today the screen started flickering. I tried to close the Mac and see if it helped and when I moved it down the flickering stopped and when I moved it back up it started again. Could this be a loose cable?
The problem with freezing is still there in safe-boot.
    Here is the latest crash-report:

  • Premiere Pro Constantly Crashing!

I have recently downloaded Premiere Pro trial and then upgraded to Premiere pro CC.
Since moving to Premiere Pro CC the program crashes without warning and I'm loosing
hours of work due to this. I save constantly but the saved files keep reverting back to older
    work.
I uninstalled premiere pro and reinstalled it straight from the Adobe Site and it still crashes constantly!
Please advise as this is extremely frustrating not to mention a complete waste of my time!
    Gareth Hubbard

    Hi Gareth,
If it crashes immediately (without giving you any error messages) after you load a project or create a new one, it is not able to authenticate the license. Here is what you need to do:
Sign out from the Creative Cloud app and Quit it (Quit option will be available after a few seconds).
Now move the following folders to desktop:
    1) SLCache
    Windows: OS Drive\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
    Mac: Library/Application Support/Adobe
    2) SLStore
    Windows: OS drive\ProgramData\Adobe
    Mac: Library/Application Support/Adobe
    3) OOBE
    Windows: OS Drive\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe

  • Urgent: Final Cut Pro constantly crashes

I have never had this problem before.
I use a Canon HF G10 camcorder that records in AVCHD, and the files from my camcorder are imported just fine.
I used another camcorder, a Canon XA10, which also records in AVCHD, for a different angle.
Although the camera was supported in Final Cut X, the files were not imported nor detected as a video file.
So I got a media converter and then converted all of the files into .mov files. Although the file split in about 15 videos, the videos are just fine and play back perfectly both in finder and quicktime.
The problem starts from here. I tried importing the files several times into Final Cut Pro X, however the files do not show in the events browser.
When I try to drag and drop into the project window, the application crashes. I have tried reinstalling Final Cut Pro X and also deleting the files from the event browser and re-trying it, but it doesn't work.
Just to list my iMac's specs,
it's a Mid 2011 21.5 inch with 12GB of RAM. That should be enough for Final Cut to do its work.
The same symptoms also occur with these particular files in my 15 inch Retina MacBook Pro as well.
    Please help :'(

Do these files play in Quicktime Player? Post a screenshot of the Movie Inspector from Quicktime Player.
Also, is the second camera recognized - i.e. does it appear in the Cameras area of the Import window?
If so, does any content from that camera show up?

  • Why does my Macbook Pro constantly crash?

    Hi,
For several months now my Macbook has been driving me crazy by crashing over and  over.  Prior to installing OSX, my screen just went black and I had to force a reboot.  Now when it crashes it automatically reboots and I have to relog. However, it often crashes during the reboot after I type my password!  Today it is particularly bad. I am working on an important assignment and trying to gather data from Powerpoint slides and it seems to hate Powerpoint. I have crashed about 7 times in a 5 minute period.  It is incredibly frustrating because I have to go through relog process and then re-open Powerpoint and then find the last slide I was working on, click a couple more and BANG x 9203423!
This is a copy of my last crash report - it makes no sense to me but hopefully some Mac guru out there in the forums might be able to help me!

Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:
Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):

Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The unfortunate thing is that many people have passed the “three years from date of purchase” now and Apple is not honoring the free logic board replacement for many users. Some dealers seem to be making some exceptions for those past the three year mark, but don’t count on it…
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • 2011 MacBook Pro Constantly Crashing

    Hi guys,
So I have a mid 2011 MacBook Pro. Up until recently it has worked great, only the occasional app crash here and there. But lately various apps (especially safari) have started crashing all the time. Now, not only do apps frequently crash, the whole computer crashes, several times a day! What happens is I will be going about my business on my laptop and everything seems to be working fine, then out of nowhere it will abruptly shut off and restart without warning. When it restarts I am greeted with the grey screen that says "Your computer restarted because of a problem etc. etc." and then turns back on.
After going through and trying all the "standard" diagnostics such as resetting PRAM and verifying and repairing disk permissions without success, I am left without any idea what to do. Browsing online forums like this only yields a hundred different people with a hundred different solutions, all for the SAME problem. So I decided to go the more drastic route, making a backup, formatting the hard drive, but manually migrate my documents and files, as well as what I consider my "safe" apps. I did NOT restore from the cloned backup, only copied over important files as well as my safe apps, because obviously restoring everything would put my computer back in its original "bad" state. This has not fixed the problem. I still am having frequent crashing of apps such as safari, as well as the entire computer crashing.
Here is the log of one of the most recent computer crashes:

The crash report I previously posted was actually from yesterday. Here my latest one.
BTW do these constitute "kernel panics"? I have been reading about the concept of a kernel panic, and was thinking that my problem does not qualify as a true kernel panic since when the crash happens, the computer completely reboots spontaneously. It doesn't freeze first or display the message telling me I need to restart my computer.
I do have AppleCare on my computer, but live 2 hour away from the nearest Apple store.
    Thanks for any help!

  • Macbook Pro constantly crashing and beeping

Hi all. This is my second attempt at typing this problem out, so I hope it doesn't crash before I'm done.
For the last month my Macbook Pro 15" mid 2010 has been crashing at least 2 times a day. It is not even kernel panics, but good old hard crashes to a black screen. The crash is then followed by 9 beeps: 3 short - 3 long - 3 short.
Not 3 constant beeps which would mean a RAM error, or 3 long - 3 short - 3 long which would be a firmware issue. No, this is litterally a SOS signal, and I have no idea what causes it.
I have upgraded my macbook with more RAM and a 750 Momentus XT drive. My first suspect was the ram because of the beeps, but switching back to the old RAM made no difference. The other suspect was the XT drive which has recieved mixed reviews when used in older macbooks, but switching to a cloned drive has also made no difference.
I have also tried all the old tricks like reinstalling the OS and resetting SMC and PRRAM.
And many of you will probably mention the problem with the NVidea cards in the 2010 Macbooks, but I had mine tested at the apple store my macbook passed the detailed video test, so I hope that is not the problem since I'm way past the extended warranty.
I hope some of you can suggest what to do next.

But what kind of problem are we talking when I have tested two sets of RAM seperatly, ran MEMtest on all of them, and cant find the specific beep sequence on the link you just posted?
I have had the "normal" ram error with 3 repeating beeps on an older mac, and that turned out to be a bad stick. This is not like that.

  • Premiere Pro constantly crashing on startup. Please help!!

I have a lot of work done on a video I started yesterday, but now Premiere won't start, always crashing on start up and saying that there has been a serious error. I'm so annoyed. Nothing I've read might work has been working to fix. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but that didn't help. I'm using the trial version. Aside from this problem, the program is so great, and I was so happy with it, but now I can't even get all of the stuff I worked so hard on off of it!!

Is your media loaded on an external drive?  Try moving it to an internal drive.
If Pr isn't crashing immediately after starting, wait for a while before doing anything in the program (up to several minutes) to see if the Media Pending screen goes away and your clip appears in its place.
Try starting Pr from a shortcut (not by double-clicking a project file) and hold down the Shift+Alt keys until you see the welcome screen.  Then select or navigate to your project file and open it.
Try creating a brand-new project and then import your old project into it.
    Cheers,
    Jeff

  • Gt72 dominator pro processor

I just wanted to know why the processor was downgraded? The gt70 were carrying i7 4800 and higher, but the gt72 us 4700.

You are wrong, GT70 also have i7 4700MQ version, and GT72 with 4170HQ.
Because Intel were forced notebook makers move to HQ version with BGA.
