GT783 Changing the Bios to raid?

Good day gentle people,
Question: i want to set up a raid 0 array in my MSI GT783 notebook, is this possible? (cant find raid option in bios)
And if needed, can install the official MSI BIOS 1761 30H for raid systems? (i think originally it comes with 1761 10H for non raid systems)
Or, is a modded bios available where in wicht i can use raid??
It would be great if someone can help me out here.
Cheers in advance!

Wow Svet, thanks!! Everything went flawlessly!
I got the raid function in my bios now, and the next step is to get 2 good and fast hard disks and get the raid 0 set up!
Thanks again mate!!
(btw i was sweating like  whe the bios was flashed..)
Cheers!

  • How to change the bios back to english. I hit a key and it changed it to Japanese

To see how to reset it or do a system restore.. Well I was checking out the BIOS and hit the wrong button and now its in a different language.  So can someone please help me figure out how to change it back to English.  And get into my laptop..I still can't remember my password.  Thank you!!

    Cherry, welcome to the forum.
You should go into the BIOS setup by tapping the "esc" key continuously as the computer is booting.  This will take you to a Menu.  Choose F10 for BIOS setup.  Once you are into the BIOS, use the arrow keys to move to the "Exit" Tab.  Press the "Enter" key to open this Tab.  Move down to the Default settings (may be a bit different wording) option.  Press "Enter" again.  You want to choose "Save and exit".  This should set the computer back to the way it was when you bought it.
Now, for the password.  The only choice that you have is do a System Recovery.  There is no way to use the computer without the password.

  • Trying to change the bios setting.

I have been trying for days to access the bios on my Notebook Pavilion g series. I have tried f2,f6, and f10. I am shutting down completely and starting over. I have tried to restart and push the function keys. Nothing works. I have tried to do a bios update and got error that it failed. System tune-up failed as well. Please help! Thanks.

You are getting into dangerous territory with a failed bios update.  If the bios is corrupt, you may not be able to even fix you machine without someone reflashing your bios or buying a replacement mother board.  I think you probably had a failed bios update because your system was not stable when you tried it.  Try a hard reset:
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c01684768&product=1132551
Then try only one piece of memory at a time.  All during the boot up try to tap the F10 key about a 1 sec pattern.

  • Portege S100: How to change the RAID in the BIOS

Changing the BIOS setting for Portege S100 from JBOD to RAID0, I hit space on Exectute Creation and enter the string key in the manual and press "enter".
The settings then return to existing settings and not the new RAID0 setting I selected.
I have been at this most of the day / evening looking at various posts, but I can see nothing wrong with the details entered.
It is the same as recorded in this link:-
[How to Change the RAID configuration|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB6901K60006R01.htm]
I am now at the end of my tether, I only wanted to install new WD HDD and do fresh install of XP Pro, is that too much to ask?

Maybe its a silly question but; did you install the second HDD in the Ultra Slim Bay?
The RAID feature is ONLY available when a second HDDD is installed in the Ultra Slim Bay.
If the second HDD has been inserted then you could change the RAID in Windows OS.
There should be a Toshiba RAID Console.
You can use this console to create or manage a RAID array.
To start the utility click Start, point to All Programs, point to Toshiba, point to RIAD and click RAID console.
Its possible to change RAID1 (mirroring) from a non-RAID configuration (default).
But note; when RAID1 is set, you cannot change your settings unless you completely restore your preinstalled software.

  • Can't boot if SATA Config changed from IDE to RAID

My goal is to create a non-bootable RAID1 mirror with two 320GB extra disks (plugged into SATA 5&6).  The boot disk is a Corsair 120MB SSD.  The manual that came with the A75A-G55 board says to use raid, first change the SATA Configuration from IDE (the default) to RAID.
Once the RAID selection is made, a new option for Legacy ROM or UEFI Driver shows up.  I left the choice at Legacy ROM.  Saved settings and exited.  During the reset then something new pops up quickly having to do, I suppose with the RAID config, then the regular POST pops through, but then can't boot to Windows.
When I went back to change the BIOS SATA Config back to IDE, I noticed that none of the SATA ports show drives.  After setting the SATA config back to IDE, everything seems to go back to normal.  I must be missing something significant, but the instructions in the manual that came with the board are pretty simple.  On the other hand, the manual doesn't say anthing at all about the SATA configuration options.
I checked the RAID FAQ, but it seems to be oriented to NVIDIA.  Nothing there about AMD raid that I could see and no mention of bios settings that looked like this.  I have come across mention of an AMD raid manager software (RAIDXpert?) in some other browsing.  Should I get that and use it, or will I still have to straighten out this IDE/RAID thing first?
    Thank you for your help,
    John

As far as I can tell, the A75A-G55 does not support RAID with WindowsXP no matter what the chips are and sales literature says.  I've been running around with this too long and still have nothing to show for it.
If anyone has actually been successful with installing a "data" RAID (not a boot disk) on this motherboard I'm all ears, but I don't think such a critter exists.
Here is what I've done tonight.
Set BIOS to RAID, Legacy ROM, save & exit
Cntl-F to enter Option ROM utility
All drives show up, use the utility to create an LD named FamRm_Array from two 320GB drives, save and reboot.
    Windows doesn't boot, resets
    Del key to enter bios
Main tab shows no SATA drives - all are "Not Present"
Boot tab shows boot option for hard disk as "Hard Disk: FamRm_Array"
(no sign of the Corsair boot disk)
Advanced tab - selected SATA Mode - IDE, save & exit
Got the "Windows didn't start last time" screen, selected "start normally" and Windows came up OK.
Checked the status of the disks with Disk Manager and both 320GB disks show up individually as unallocated, no indication of an array.
Tried again with reboot, selected RAID in bios, save & exit
F11 to enter boot menu - both the Corsair and FamRm_Array are options.  Picked Corsair.
    Can't boot to windows, reset
Cntl-F to option ROM, array still configured OK, escape and reset
Del to BIOS again - No SATA disks shown, boot tab shows Hard disk:FamRm_Array
F11 to boot menu again, pick Corsair again.
    Still can't boot
Del to bios again, boot tab still shows HardDisk:FamRm_Array, no sign of Corsair as any option or priority.
Changed back to SATA Mode IDE, Windows boots fine.
Giving up on a disk array with this board and software.  Either it just doesn't work, or the process required is so mysterious and undocumented that the effect is the same - doesn't work.
I'll check back a few times over the next few days to see if anyone points out a major flaw in what I did, but I have no real hope it will ever work.

  • SSD not recognized by the bios of my GT70 2OD-056AU

    Hello there,
    I have a GT70 2OD-056AU since 3 months ago.
I  tried to add a SSD in the second bay but it isn't recognized in the bios. The SSD is seated properly, it is a SAMSUNG SSD 840 EVO 2.5"
I changed the bios setting from AHCI to IDE and nothing changed.
I tried to replace de HDD with the SSD (add the SSD on the fist bay), and then it worked, but couldn't make both SSD and HDD work at the same time.
Do I need to update with the other bios (supporting the RAID) if I want to install another drive? Even if not necessarily in RAID?
Is there anything special that needs to be done when installing a 2nd drive on this system?
    Thank you.

  • Can't boot into Windows 8 Single Language 64 bit or access the BIOS screen with the F1 key

I have in my possession right now a Lenovo E49, Model name: 3464
I am unable to access the BIOS settings at POST by pressing the F1 key.  Neither does it respond to the Enter key when it displays the message "To interrupt normal startup, Press Enter".  I am also unable to boot into the installed OS Windows 8 Single Language 64 bit.
For your informtion, these are the events that led to this issue.
I accessed the BIOS settings at startup using the CHANGE PC SETTINGS option in the CHARMS menu in Windows 8 Single Languge 64 bit followed by GENERAL and ADVANCED STARTUP.  Then I chose Restart Now.  Windows restarted to produce the startup screen where I chose Troubleshoot, followed by Advanced Options and UEFI Firmware Settings, followed by Restart.  This took me to the BIOS settings screen. Once there I changed the boot settings in BIOS so that SECURE BOOT was turnned OFF.  It was in ON state prior to that.  I also changed the BOOT MODE to LEGACY ONLY.  I also changed the BOOT ORDER to boot from DVD drive first followed by the Hard Disk and USB Hard Disk.  I saved the changes by pressing F10.
Now the computer is able to boot from the DVD Drive.  I tested this by inserting a Windows 7 Repair DVD and also a Linux Live DVD.  Mind you, I didn't mke any changes to the Hard Drive.  I'm also able to boot from a USB Hard Disk.  This too was tested by inserting a bootable USB HD that had both Windows 7 and Windows 8 OS installers.  I used only the command prompt feature in the Repair option on the Windows 8 installer to ensure that I could access the partitions on the HD.  I did not in any way install Windows 7 or 8 on the HD.
If there is no bootable DVD or USB HD inserted, the laptop is involved in a loop that restarts followed by a message that says the following:
    "Intel Undi, PXE-2.1 (build 083)
    Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
This product is covered by one or more of the following patents:
    US5, 307, 459,  US5, 434, 872,  US5, 732, 094,  US6, 570, 884,  US6, 115, 776 and US6, 327, 625
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Series v2.41 (06/08/11)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM."
I am positive that the current state of the BIOS is such that it does not accept any input keys like F1 and F12 at POST so that the BIOS can only be accessed through Change PC Settings in Windows 8 as I had done prior to the occurence of the issue.  Since I cannot boot up Windows 8 I cannot use this method to access the BIOS.  And since it is not possible at this stage to access the BIOS settings through the F1 key, I believe Lenovo must have surely provided another alternative to enter the BIOS.  Can you kindly tell me what other way is there to do this.  In earlier days, one could reset the BIOS by shorting the BIOS through pins on the motherboard.  Is that possible now?  Or is there some Lenovo BIOS utilily that enables me to change the BIOS setting to boot with Legacy and UEFI?  Or do I have to install Windows 8.1 64 bit in Legacy mode?

I'll see if another member of the team can jump in here and offer more help...
What I might imagine is that you can only access BIOS from a cold boot. Windows 8/8.1 have hybrid shutdown and don't completely shut down the machine normally, so even when it powers off, it isn't fully off and the next boot is not really a cold boot.
Please see this KB.  I realize this assumes you can get into windows.
As you suggest, it also seems as though you have set legacy vs UEFI and that may be why your drive is not currently booting.   Can you remove the battery on your system?  If not, is there a reset hole on the bottom?  Removing battery and AC and pressing and holding the power button several times, then re-attach AC and Battery and try to restart and press F1 to get into BIOS.  (Not familiar with models that use enter for BIOS).

  • Switchable Graphics Mode in the BIOS is not listed(seen)

    Hi everyone!
    I've read that:
NOTE: If you do not see Switchable Graphics Mode in the BIOS or it cannot be selected, see the following section Updating the BIOS to enable Fixed Mode .
However,  I didn't see that switachable craphics mode is seen in my BIOS:
    Product Name: HP Pavilion dv6-6093ex
    Product Number : LM610EA#A2N
    Version of BIOS is: F.05.
    Vendor of BIOS is: Insyde
Also, I would say that my BOIS is not a UEFI BIOS because I cannot navigate the menus with a mouse but only just with the keyboard.
However, I really was told that I shouldn't update the BIOS unless I am having a problem with it.
Thus, I am afraid that if I had updated it, I would be encountring some problems not loading my machine well. However, I really want to know how to switch to external or internal adapter, thus I read here:

  • Why can I not change the location browser I have moved from Indianapolis IN. to Columbus OH. and when I search it takes me to Indianapolis can I change this?

when doing a internet search it takes me to Indianapolis news, weather, local businesses, ECT. can I change this to reference Columbus Oh. and not Indianapolis ?

This seems to have been asked a lot around the net, however, there doesn't seem to be an adequate answer to it.
    I am running:
Operating system is Windows 7Motherboard is Q67H2-AM v1.1
    Bios is ACER ver. 2.10.1207
    GPU is GTX 770
    PSU is 700w
The Graphics card is plugged in to the 16x slot, the fans spin, but no display and no device is recognized in device manager.
I have tried a few solutions including uninstalling my onboard graphics driver from the device manager and going to upgrade my 600w power supply to a 700w one.
I think the issue is that I need to change the BIOS to PEG or PCI Express. However, in the Bios the settings for both "Primary Video" and "Onboard Graphics" are grayed out, meaning that I can't change them.

  • Has anyone ever succesfully used the bios recovery feature?

i have a p35 platinum that im working with, cant get it to do right. so i was wondering anyone. ever? on any board? seems like as much as i paid for this thing it would work.

it depends on the severeness of your system. In most case, where BIOS is destroyed/corrupted completely, there is really no way for recovery except changing the BIOS chip. Some the damange is not that worse and it's still possible to do the recovery.
and yes, it did work for me before. and of course, it didn't work for some of my systems too.

  • Satellite A660-18N - Screen it too bright so how to update the BIOS?

Hi guys, I need your help with this laptop because it is giving me a lot of problems.
I have changed the screen of this Satellite A660-18N because the one that was fitted in was damaged. I have installed it and is working fine but I'm having problems with the brightness. When I click - on the brightness it goes up and when I click + it goes down. It's way too bright and want to do something to fix it.
Does the bios help to fix this problem and how do I flash the BIOS on these laptops? I did flash BIOS on desktop pc but on this I can't see any way of doing it. Is there any way of fixing the screen without changing the BIOS? Some people said that I have to flash the BIOS because new screens wont work 100% with old BIOS.
    Please help
    Thank you

Thank you very much Xardas for your reply.
It is 3rd party screen. I bought it from ebay. They said that it's original. It says made from Samsung. The original one was also made from samsung. The guys from Toshiba said that you might have to update bios so that it will accept other screens. I told them which one I bought and they did confirm that it should work fine.
I wanted to flash the bios with the latest bios and maybe it could work fine. I just don't know how to do it? I did create a bootable usb and placed the bios in it but don't know the command to flash it. I did go in bios but did not find anything that would be helpful to flash.
I also was thinking to use some kind of software that makes it little bit darker. It's way too bright. My eyes hurt to use it. I always have to use sunglasses.
If you know anything it really would be helpful.
    Thank you
