GTK theme with Pango Font File?

Hi,
Has anyone gotten GTK theme to work with a custom pango font file? I am not familiar with GTK themes in general. Can anyone tell me how do I specify my own font settings with a GTK theme? Or, where can I find documentation on this?
Thanks.

    You may have a corrupted font. Try substituting fonts to see which one is the problem.

  • Wrong with font file when printing InDesign

    I get an error message when press print and the message is "There was a problem with the font file" (translated from Swedish) I have tried to change font but it dosent help. Anyone that have a solution to fix this problem?
    I have started to use latest InDesign CC when this happened after used it for a couple of weeks. Running a HP 64 bit workstation with Windows XP

    Sounds like it is warning you are missing a font in the document when printing it.
    When you open the InDesign document, In the lower-left corner of your screen, do you see any errors?
    Double-click the error. This will display the Preflight panel.
    Click on the Expansion arrow next to Text.
    Do you see a 'Mssing font' error? If yes, keep expanding until you can select the actual error.
    At the bottom of the panel, click the expansion arrow to the left of Info. You'll be able to see a bit more information about the error, and also a tip on how you can fix it. E.g. you can either install the font on your computer, or replace it with another font before printing. If you click on the link to the far right of the error, it will take you to the text in the document that is formatted with a missing font.

  • Flash Player 10, strange problem with emdedded fonts and movieclips

    Hello, developers! I have a big problem with font embedding
    and I can not debug it myself. So I need you help.
    I' ve done a simple list of attached movieclips with
    textfields inside them, with embedded fonts. I have no problem with
    flash player 9 in order to see the list, but in flash player 10 I
    can't see it. The font is very common, Arial actually so you can
    test it very easily. I am using a font symbol in the library, a
    class and an xml file for my data.
    Also you can see it online in (if you have flash player 10
    you can't see a thing)
    http://www.forestonfire.com//research/flash/fontproblem/index.html
    I have compiled the file as an exe projector in order to see
    it as I do in flash player 9
    http://www.forestonfire.com//research/flash/fontproblem/fontinflash9.zip
    I have zipped also the source code in order to compile it
    yourself.
    http://www.forestonfire.com/research/flash/fontproblem/fontembedded.zip
    and the same example without embedded fonts (I have the same
    problem there so perchaps are not the fonts)
    http://www.forestonfire.com/research/flash/fontproblem/fontnotembed.zip
    Please, check it and tell me if there is a solution
    available. Thank you in advance.

    I've included also a much more simple example without the xml
    and the font symbol, only the class and a movieclip from the
    library, but I can't still see it on flash player 10
    http://www.forestonfire.com/research/flash/fontproblem/simplyfied.zip
    I have no clue about this problem.

  • How to get the actual font name from a font file?

    Hi
    I have only the font Path I have to get the font name from that path. Any idea how to get the actual font name?
    Thanks,

    I would ask you these questions:
    Why do you need to do this?  What are you ultimately trying to accomplish?
    Are you really asking about the InDesign SDK?
    Do you really need to get the "name" of a font from an arbitrary file?  Or do you want information about a font installed on the system?  If so, what OS?
    Do you need to be able to handle any font format?
    Which font "name" do you mean?
    What language do you want the name in?
    (1) It's not clear what you're trying to accomplish.  A bit more information about your ultimate goal would be helpful.
    (2) This question is not at all specific to the InDesign SDK.  Are you really trying to do something in the context of an InDesign plug-in?  If so, you probably want to look at IID_IFONTFAMILY and the IFontFamily::GetFamilyName function.
    (3) If you are asking more generally, Windows and Mac both have system API calls to get this information, although those tend to deal with installed system fonts, not with arbitrary font files per se.
    Also, you can parse the name table from a True Type or Open Type font without using any system APIs; as True Type and Open Type are well-documented standards.  I would start by reading these:
    The Naming Table
    Font Names Table
    (4) Although there are other standards, such as Type 1 (PostScript) fonts, and True Type Collection files and other formats, especially on Mac.
    (5) Also, when you start down this road, you will quickly realize that your seemingly simple question is actually ambiguous, and that the answer is kind of complicated, because a font can have many names (a family name, a full font name, a style name, a PostScript name, etc.).
    (6) And not only does a font have multiple names, it can have each of those names in multiple languages and encodings.
    Any clarification would make this a better question.

  • Replacing jpg's with cr2 raw files

    I have a new T2i and apple nor adobe support its raw files. Right now I am shooting RAW+JPG in the camera. If I bring all of my jpeg's into aperture 3 now, can I then replace them with the CR2 files later on when aperture supports the raw files? How would I replace them file for file.
    thanks

    You can import the RAW+JPEG pair and use the JPEGs for now. If/when Apple supports the RAW files, you can just tell Aperture to re-render the RAW files and use those.

  • Having difficulty setting up transparent GTK themes

    I've been trying to set up a minimal dark transparent GTK theme to go with my i3/tint2 setup, using compton.
    This is the theme I had in mind: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/?content=149606
    Unfortunately, the end result has always been a pitch black gtk theme with no transparency whatsoever :(
    The wiki, multiple forum posts, and endless RTFMing has lead me to a dead end... so I'm coming here as a last resort!

    Welcome to the Arch Linux forums!
    In such cases, it's mostly the best thing to ask the one who made those screenshots for how the transparency effect can be achieved.
    As a more general note: Given the information you have provided us, it is difficult to determine what you have already tried, hence difficult to provide any useful help.

    Have you read the compton man page? It seems the -i option may be right for you.

  • Tialing window managers (dwm) and gtk themes

    Is it posable to use GTK themes with tialing window managers?, i.e. to make firefox less ugly.
    Also would it be posable to combine a tialing window manager with a pannel aplication, i.e. gnome-pannel. to make a more productive desktop expiriance?
    I like tialing aplications (Blender), but sofar the tialing window managers I have tryed(wmii and dwm) dont seem terably useable. I am looking for somwthing that works more like Blender, create tiles by hovering the mouse over a border, right click, split. this prosess would be folowed in reverce to get rid of a tile. currantly running aplications can be assighned to a tile from a drop down list in the corner. aplications started from eather a terminal, or a auto hiding pannel at the top of the screen, which also displays system infomation.
    Are there any DE's like this, or should i start coding one

    rson451 wrote:As for the rest, I've never used Blender so I have no clue what you are talking about.
    In Blender to subdivide the main window you right click on the border between two windows and select "Split Area" from the context menu, then you move the mouse to the place you want to split and click. If you start from a horizontal border you make a vertical split, and if you start from a vertical border you make a horizontal split. To remove a division you select "Join Areas" from the same context menu, and then click the window you want to remove. Windows have a sort of menu/status bar, and it has a popup menu from which you can select any of the "programs" (3d view, text editor, preferences, &c) that are part of Blender. Window borders can be dragged for resizing, of course.
    And no, I don't know of any WM that works like this. The closest is probably StumpWM or Ratpoison—you divide and join windows in the same way, but it's keyboard controlled: "^t s" makes a horizontal split, "^t S" is vertical, and there's keystrokes for entering resize mode and removing a division as well. The keystrokes are fine for creating and deleting windows (and even better if you rebind them to use the 0, 1, 2, 3 keys like Emacs), but resizing is a pain.

  • Need some help with editing my GTK theme...

    I'm editing the colors in my GTK theme...I'm using a theme that uses images for a bunch of the elements (Dyne for GTK 3...Only editing the GTK 2 part of it for now).  I'm almost done, but I can't figure out how to get rid of this line in the below image...I've tried everything I can think of.

    It comes only with oxygen-gtk, with kde desktop effects activated, only in gtk applications, only for text in pop-up menus.
    Even other texts in those application are normal.

  • Can't save file with futura font?

    Hi
    I'm having a problem saving a file that contains the futura font. This is a font my company had to buy. I never had a problem with CS1 or CS2 using this font.
    Once I place the font in the document it will let me save it once. After making changes and trying to save again I get a window that simply says "can't save file". I've tried unchecking the pdf compatible option and the compression option with no change.
    I found one thread on this site about clearing out the font cache (by deleting the file C:\windows\system32\FNTCACHE.dat) and that didn't make a difference.
    When I'm done with the document I'll be converting the text to outlines but I need a fix will I'm working on the doc.
    Thoughts?

    Mike,
    Glad you got it sorted out. After I sent you back the regenerated fonts, I discovered something which I'm posting here for everyone's benefit.
    Myle nailed it when he suggested an "an issue with font embedding." The fonts you sent me were all embedding-restricted. It's possible you could have saved your documents had you turned off the PDF compatibility option, but it's moot now.
    It's doubtful the fonts I regenerated for you will solve the problem because putting them through my font editor did not remove the embedding restriction. I would bet dollars to doughnuts that your replacement fonts do not have embedding restriction.
    To check for the embedding restriction, you don't need a fancy program. Just download this Windows extension from Microsoft and install it. Then, right-click | Properties on any font file will give you a lot more information about that font, including licensing/embedding restrictions.

    Another possibility is that you have the correct theme but don't have the associated theme engine installed.  Poke around the themes a bit:
    For a GTK2 theme: in the "theme/gtk-2.0/gtkrc" file look for the line that says "engine" and a name.  Make sure you have that name installed.
    For a GTK3 theme: in the "theme/gtk-3.0/gtk.css" file also look for "engine" and the name.  Also make sure that engine is installed.
    Themes are almost always in "/usr/share/themes/theme_name"
    The files you look for to see which engine a theme uses may be in different files than the ones specified above, poke around in the files.  The file that specifies the engine will be a text file so you can look at them using "less" or an alternative.

  • Font file(ttf) use with application

    i am create a servlet base web application.i want to use the font file(ttf) in my applicaion but not install in system. so how to attach this file and use in my application

    You can use OpenType fonts if you encode them as PostScript Type 42 fonts. That means a PostScript dictionary with some font information, including some font metrics, an encoding table and a table giving glyph indexes for various glyph names. The actual OpenType font is included in the dictionary as an array of strings with hexcode data. The strings have to be, due to limitations in older rasterizers, be maximum 64KB each and you can only break the strings at boundaries between SFNT tables or between glyphs. It can support multi byte international fonts by using CID fonts.
    If you just have one constant font I suggest you convert it by using a program and then include the result in your CAD software. The open source program Fontforge can for example do this. Writing your own converter is relatively hairy.

  • Dark theme in Linux screws up Firefox 4.0, help with userContent.css file

    OS: Fedora 14 x86_64 / Gnome 2.3x
    Problem with: Firefox 4.0
    Using dark gtk themes changes the background color of common form controls (input boxes, text boxes, radio buttons, etc...) into the same dark color used in the theme, so you end up with dark controls with black text, which makes them unreadable.
    While searching I found that there's a way to make Firefox override the system colors, and that is by creating a userContent.cs file.
    Here's the userContent.css file:
    ===========================
    body {
    background-attachment: scroll !important;
    input {
    border: 2px inset white;
    background-color: white;
    color: black;
    -moz-appearance: none !important;
    textarea {
    border: 2px inset white;
    background-color: white;
    color: black;
    -moz-appearance: none !important;
    select {
    border: 2px inset white;
    background-color: white;
    color: black;
    -moz-appearance: none !important;
    input[type="radio"],
    input[type="checkbox"] {
    border: 2px inset white ! important;
    background-color: white ! important;
    color: ThreeDFace ! important;
    -moz-appearance: none !important;
    .*|*::-moz-radio {
    background-color: white;
    -moz-appearance: none !important;
    button,
    input[type="reset"],
    input[type="button"],
    input[type="submit"] {
    border: 2px outset white;
    background-color: #eeeeee;
    color: black;
    -moz-appearance: none !important;
    body {
    background-color: white;
    color: black;
    display: block;
    margin: 8px;
    -moz-appearance: none !important;
    ===========================
    This css code fixes text boxes, input boxes, etc... but I still have dark radio buttons, dark check boxes, and dark drop down menus, does anyone know what might be causing this problem?
    Examples:
    http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac211/0xGFX007/001.png
    http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac211/0xGFX007/002.png

    FWIW, an alternative to going back to a light theme for whatever reason: there is a theme with several variations called "Shiki-Colors", in which only half of the stuff is dark.
