GTX 460 1GB CUDA support in CS5.5?

I've read the list of supported CUDA boards for CS5, but does this mean that the GTX 460 1GB boards will never have support in CS5.5?

Think what could be done with 2, 3, or 4 GPUs.
Hey, no one else at this point even has one.  So we Premiere Pro users are lucky in that regard.
Personally, I still think the move away from the proprietary CUDA are towards OpenCL is more important than adding SLI  That opens up ATI cards as well.  And for the money, ATI cards often have double or triple the number of stream processors over nVidia's cores.  That can mean significantly better performance out of ATI cards for the same or less money.

  • Geforce GTX 550ti 1GB or GTX 460 1GB or other?

I have a 2 year old homebuilt i7 920 with 12GB ram built on an Asus P6T MB with a Seasonic 650W PS.  I'd like to upgrade the current Graphics card that was fine for Photoshop but not for Premiere Pro which I'm just experimenting with. I'd like to get a better card for it without going crazy because this will not be my main computer.  I never OC'd it either as for Photoshop it seemed fine at the time.
It will be used typically for making under 5 min videos that consist of a around half doz clips each from my Canon 1DM4 in HD 1080.  Not too much in the way of effects currently with unsharp mask, color correction and transitions etc.
The ones I've sort of narrowed down to are the GTX 460 1GB or maybe the GTX 550ti 1 GB might do as well for this use?  I don't like limiting myself if I'd see much of a difference between them.  I'm also totally open to any suggestions for others as well.
As a side note, I'm also in the planning stages for building a new computer from scratch and that will be my main computer that I'll most likely put a better card in during the coming month or two.
While I've built several computers over the years I'm finding this graphics card choice bewildering to say the least!  I hope that's enough info to go on and I greatly appreciate any help as most review sites for cards pertain mostly to gaming.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

I don't know the power needs of my GTX 285 (in a file somewhere) but I wasn't worried 'cause I have an 850 power supply
I do know that the card has 2 power connections... I presume one for the GPU and the other for the onboard fan
Before you think your PS will work... check your total requirments

Also Eyefinity is AMD feature, Nvidia cards doesn't have such.
Read more about it at: http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-eyefinity-technology/Pages/eyefinity.aspx
And yes, SLI isn't possible as Bas mention.
To run SLI you need latest MSI's AMD platform board for AM3+, named 990FXA-GD80:

  • Dead GeForce GTX 460 1GB OC

    Hello,
When I started my computer today, the screen was blank. I thought it's something with graphics card, so I tried connecting screen to my on-board video card. Desktop showed up. I also tried putting card into other computer = same story, screen is blank. I assume the card somehow died. I bought it in the USA but I'm using it in Poland right now and there's no way I could ship it to USA and RMA it.
Is there any way I could RMA it in Europe/Poland? Or the warranty isn't worldwide?
    Thanks for useful replies.
    /Matt

The warranty isn't worldwide, since you purchase it in US you can't RMA it in Europe

  • MSI GTX 460 1Gb questions

what's the recommended or lowest settings for this cards fan speed at idle? and would it affect the auto control when the card's temperature rises.
also I've read an article on how to overclock it but it only mentions roughly how high the core clock can go(825MHz). if i were to increase the shader and memory, how would i approach this or should i?
haven't tampered with a graphic card before so any additional help/info would be appreciate.

There's a minimum fan speed in place already if you check in Afterburner. I'd suggest you just leave it to adjust the speed accordingly.
Overclocking varies on each card. You need to test it youself to find the limit, though be careful you don't push it too far or you may break something. Afterburner is a good tool to use for overclocking the graphics card.

  • Open Gl Issue with Nvidia GTX 460 & Photoshop cs5

open gl has become disabled and preferences window doesn't show the detected video. card cache level is set to 4. help>system info still shows the card and drivers but I can't use any of the open gl features. I have already downloaded installed the latest drivers so Im not so sure that that would be the problem.
I know my graphics card supports it because I was using the rotate tool on this same document yesterday. How ever when i started it up today It no longer worked. I haven't installed anything since I used the rotate tool last (except for the latest drivers for my nvideo geforce gtx 460 gfx card, how ever this was an attempt to fix the problem)
I tried running the 64 bit verision of Ps but the results were the same.
    My system is running
    windows 7 64 bit
Intel core 2 duo 3.0 Ghz (dual core processor)
    8 GB ddr2 ram
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 460
(with 2 identical moniters connected via dvi)
Adobe Creative Suite CS5 Design Premium
Wacom Bamboo pen and touch w/ matching drivers
Belkin N52TE gaming pad with photoshop short cuts mapped to it.
Im not sure what else I can list that might be related
I made no system changes since the last time i ran photoshop.
I unplugged the wacom tablet for 5 minutes last night in order to install the drivers on another computer and when it was done i moved it back (Im fairly sure this couldn't have caused it but better to give all the info i guess...)
I would greatly apreciate any help you might be able to offer.

some one i know suggested that I try an older driver in case it was a bug with the latest one. I did so and once again It worked untill i closed photoshop. I closed and reopened the program to test it and sure enough when i reopened it all open gl functionality was gone once again. I don't believe nvidia drivers are the problem because i have tried 3 different version with the same results. each one works untill i close photoshop and the second time i open photoshop it quits working.
do any of you at adobe have any idea what might be causing this?

  • Issues with cs5.0.03- cannot use CUDA, cannot find cuda support text file

    Hi,
I am working with a big project and recently upgraded my video card to a GTX 570.
I cannot enable the CUDA engine in project settings, it is completely greyed out..  Doing some searches, everyone seems to point at a cuda support text file...
    Kicker 2-
I go to the Root directory of where adobe is installed, see the CS5 folder- with NO Cuda supported list.... Do a complete search of the whole machine, nothing.
    Updated adobe, no change
Most up to date video drivers from Nvidia are already installed.
Went through Nvidia control panel to manually set it to render using the GPU- no change...
I am at a loss here, any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your time-
Ok, I remoted back into the machine and took a closer look again,  Somehow half of the CS5 suite is on the C drive, and the other is on the storage- CS5 primarly. How I personally do not know, but from there was able to locate the needed folders, and created the text file.  All is well now, I just told them to finish the project first, before we move it over where it belongs.
Joe Bloe P. Thank you very much.

  • Adobe AE, GTX 780 Ti CUDA ray trace support?

Adobe AE, GTX 780 Ti CUDA ray trace support? When will this card be on the white supported list?
    Thanks

Thank you, I have found this working for me.
preference for bypassing whitelist for GPU acceleration of ray-traced 3D renderer
In After Effects CS6 (11.0) and CC (12.0), the GPU Information dialog box has a Ray-tracing menu from which the user can choose GPU or CPU. If the installed hardware is not on the list of tested and supported GPUs, the GPU menu item is disabled (grayed out) and below the menu is this text: “GPU not available – incompatible device or display driver”.
In After Effects CC (12.1), we have added a checkbox: “Enable untested, unsupported GPU for CUDA acceleration of ray-traced 3D renderer.”
Enabling this checkbox will do a couple of things:
After Effects will use the GPU-accelerated ray-traced 3D renderer with any GPU that meets minimum requirements (which include 1GB of VRAM and CUDA 5.0).
The text “GPU not available – incompatible device or display driver” will change to “Unsupported GPU enabled for CUDA acceleration” if the GPU meets the minimum requirements but is not on the whitelist. If the GPU doesn’t meet the minimum requirements, the text remains as the original.
In the CUDA section at the bottom of the GPU Information dialog box, “(unsupported)” is added to the Devices entry if the installed hardware isn’t on the whitelist but is enabled.
When the user enables this preference, a dialog box appears that tells the user that using an untested and unsupported GPU is something that they do at their own risk and that technical support is only provided for supported configurations.

  • GTX 460 display driver not working in AE CS6

Hi everyone im currently having problems with After Effects, My GTX 460 is currently undetected by AE CS6 when i check out the gpu information it says (GPU not available - incompatible device or display driver)
I don't see how i am getting this problem as i have the latest drivers and the the gtx 460 has 336 cuda cores therefore it should be compatible with After Effects Should it not ???
Any help will be much appreciated unless it has to do with drivers, believe me it's not the drivers -.-

Same old, same old: What's not listed on the product pages is not officially supported for the respective features and the GTX 460 is not listed as supporting Raytrace 3D. It should support all conventional OpenGL stuff and fast previews without issues, though, so update your graphics driver or try a different version and configure it properly so AE can detect it.

  • Gtx 460 cyclone bsod

I recently bought a gtx 460 cyclone to replace my old 8800gt. It worked fine for the first few days, but I have been getting a lot of Nv4_disp.dll bsod lately when I'm playing certain games. About once every hour to hour and half. I did a clean install of windows and the latest nvidia drivers, that did not help. I tried to roll back to older versions of the drivers, that did not work either.
I ran the furmark benchmark and burn-in test. Everything seems to be fine. The temperatures are ~25 degrees idle and 65 degrees under load. I have a XFX 750w black edition, so I doubt that would be the problem.

  • Mercury playback with GTX 460 still not working

Hey all, sorry if this has been answered before, but I searched and didn't find aynthing.
I just got a GTX 460 2gb GPU and I put it in the cuda approved file, but I still don't think that it is working. When I go into premiere, I have the option of setting mercury playback to use the GPU instead of "software only", but when I render files, I see that my CPU is being used almost 100% and the activity of my GPU does not increase. Is there something else I need to do?

You also have to make some change in the Nvidia graphics control panel for the MPE to function.
Go to Manage 3D settings, click Add and browse to the Premiere Pro.exe file, select this and Premiere will appear in the drop down list.  In the field Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration, select "Compatibility Performance Mode".
You should now be able to activate CUDA in the Project Setting, general tab in Premiere.

  • After Effects CC Lost CUDA Support

We're having an issue using CUDA GPU rendering on both Premiere and AE.  The editor has mentioned that output has recently begun to stutter and skip, and after a bit of digging he noticed that neither program was utilizing CUDA as expected.
We're on a Mac Pro 5,1, 12GB RAM, 3.06 GHz 6-Core Xeon CPU, on Mac OS X 10.8.5.  The graphics card we're running is an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 680.  We have reinstalled both the CUDA (v. 6.0.37) and NVIDIA (313.01.04f01) drivers without any change in behavior.
What we're seeing in After Effects is this:
In Preferences>GPU Information, we are unable to select 'GPU' from the Ray-tracing dropdown.  The message "GPU not available - incompatible device or CUDA driver' appears.  Under the CUDA section, it is entirely greyed out and Driver Version is listed as 1.0, despite us having version 6.0.37 installed.
After some digging around I found a tutorial for setting up CUDA support by adding entries to the cuda_supported_cards.txt file.  Our card is already on the list, but I noticed something interesting when I used the GPUSniffer (as suggested) to get the card information: there is no entry for CUDA, despite the GTX 680 (supposedly) having CUDA support.  I do, however, see it as an OpenCL device.  GPUSniffer output is:

I found a fix to this!
I too noticed when I checked out the Preferences in AE that it said there was no CUDA driver installed. When I looked at my CUDA driver via System Preferences on my Mac it stated that there was no update available for my CUDA driver at v 6.0.54
So I popped over to CUDA Downloads and there was a 6.5 version that also supported OSX 10.10 Yosemite.
I installed it and now After Effects 2014.1.1 uses my Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 GPU in Ray Trace mode!

  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti Mecury GPU Acceleration CS5.5

    Hi all!
I am having problems with my GTX 285, so i am looking to upgrade it. I have found the GeForce GTX 650 Ti card quite cheap, but i need to know, does the Premiere Pro CS5.5 Mecury GPU Playback engine support this card? It ain't listed in the list of supported cards, but it's an Nvidia card so i just wanted to be sure I also need to know: is the new cards on the list, that was added in CS6 also supported on CS5.5?

Sorry to say this but your AMD CPU is not a fast CPU when it comes to video editing.  If you search around on our 1100 record data base of PPBM5 benchmarks the fastest AMD single chip unit ranks at 502 out of those 1100 tested configuration.  This is because AMD does not have some of the latest SSE 4.2 instructions on the chip.  This is why Intel is so highly recommended for video editing.  If you are using any of the MPE accelerated effects or features an you want the highest quality encoding with minimum encoding time you need an nVidia GPU
