GTX 560 Twin Frozr oc Fan Speed

Just got my new GTX 560 Twin Frozr OC today. I like it alot. But I do not like the fan speed while gaming. I downloaded and installed afterburner, but it only lets me set fan speed to 40%. Is their a way to lower it to like 20% like on reference cards? At idle its quiet but on load it gets loud. It seems louder then stock at load. Is their a bios update or something that will allow this?
Thanks

Thanks for the very quick reply and solution. It is the OC version? then good news for me cause i didnt know that
will try out the instructions. Also if i happen to do a clean install on Windows 7 will i have to follow the same procedure, or does this stick even on a clean install?

Yes it will stick, and even you if place the VGA into another machine.
The changes will be done to the VGA itself[not depending of anything else]

  • Msi GTX 560 Twin Frozr II - Problem

    Hey folks,
Im having a problem with my Msi GTX 560 Twin Frozr II video card.
I can't make it work with my monitor, all I get is "No signal detected"
I know the monitor is fine, because I used it as it worked all good when I plugged it into
my laptop. It's a BenQ G2222HDL monitor btw. It has one VGA (D-sub) and one Dvi-D input.
So i've tried all types of cables (VGA, Dvi-D and even Hdmi cables), and
still, can't get no signal. What can I possibly do to make things work?
Also, my computer acts a bit wierd when it's starting up. Usually, I would turn it on, then it would turn itself off really quick. Then I turn it on again,
and it goes just fine and runs smoothly. After I changed the position of some RAM modules
and such, it changed. Now when I turn it on, the fans spin for 1 and there's just a tiny bit of noise until
it turns itself off. Then I turn it on again, and it goes just fine with all fans and stuff spinning.
So, I really need some help!

    The monitor is a BenQ 21,5" LED G2222HDL (1920 x 1080, 5000000:1, 5ms, VGA/DVI-D)
More background info; I build the computer myself. Everything went mostly fine, except for that I had to spend quite a long time to get everything right.
I started the machine, and it all went just fine (except for rebooting and then running smoothly, as it has done ever since). I did the MemOK! test and everything seemed to be fine. But when using the VGA cable that came with the monitor, I couldn't get any signal detected (I used a VGA to DVI adapter to plug the VGA cable into the Msi 560 TI videocard). I used 2 different adapters, but nothing happened. I tried with a HDMI cable, just to test, and that did not work either. Then, I figured out I should order a DVI-D cable.
So I ordered the cable, and went on to plug it into my monitor and my video card, no adapters needed. Still, no signal at all! Tried a different monitor to check if it was the monitor's fault. Nope, still no signal. Frustrated, I used the VGA cable again and tried to plug the monitor into the laptop, which worked just fine. A clear, bright image appeared. But not with my desktop computer with the Msi GTX 560 Twin Frozr II. Nothing works when I plug in the cables etc. No signal at all, although the computer itself seems to run just fine with fans spinning up and the different components making noise etc. Thus, I figured out there probably was something wrong with my Msi Geforce GTX 560 TI Twin Frozr II. Now I dont really know what to do.
Does anyone have an answer/advice/possible solution to my problem? I'm getting a tad frustrated now, seeing as I bought this computer 2 weeks ago and still haven't got to use it yet.

  • GTX 560 Twin Frozr OC - DVI Ports.

    Hello,
i am the proud owner of a new GTX 560 Twin Frozr OC but i cannot connect both my DVI cables without applying a lot of pressure.
I seem to be missing a millimeter or 2 and the hard plastic doesn't easily give in.
My DVI connectors are 4,2 and 3,9 centimeters wide.
    Is anybody else experiencing this?
Should i just connect the cables by force?
    Any advice is welcome.
    Thanks in advance.

Nice, so there wasn't difference in connections/pins, but just plastic issue

  • MSI HD7950(twin frozr) 100% fan speed .. anymore solutions

    Hi guys
i purchased a  msi HD7950 twin frozr from ebay however it runs at 100% all of the time and no software can tame it ... ive also followed the guide and removed the faulty D201 diode which also never worked as the card still runs at 100% ( speedfan reports 4000rpm )
so apart from the faulty diode and using software is there anything else i can do ....   ?
i was considering strapping 2 x 120mm fans to the card powered directly from the psu and a 3rd party gpu cooler ( such as the arctic cooling range ) also came to mind allthough these tend to be expensive
i also considered a fan limiter i got with a previous 3rd party gpu cooler .... if i reduced the fan speed power from 12v to 7v would this make any difference ?
                     many thanks

Well at what temp does the gpu/ram/vrms run at? Check with Afterburner: >>How to use MSI Afterburner<<

  • RMA gtx 560 twin frozr II oc in UK

Hi, I am in a similar situation to akin here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=148094.0
I bought the card from user on eBay who is unable to provide the receipt. The serials from the box are: 912-V238-061/N560GTX - TI Twin Frozr II/OC
The actual fault shows itself as preventing the system from powering at all, I have tried this in mulitple systems with 1000w 80a 12v+ rails and the same problem seems to show itself suggesting the card is faulty as others (GTX 480 in SLI work fine), I have also tried the card in both 1st and 2nd pci-e slots with and without another card in each slot and the same problem occurs.

    ean: 4 719072 210915
    upc: 8 16909 08191 6
Is it at all possible I can send this direct to MSI as akin has?
Thanks in advance, any help will be appreciated!

I have attempted to submit an RMA request on both the website and through the email provided from the site you have shown me, hopefully I will hear something back.
Is the moderator Mark around who helped Akin resolve his problem at all? I'd be interested to hear what advice on how to proceed he may be able to provide having a similar problem only in April! I'm going to be forced to use an old Radeon 3870 for the time being until I can get a new card :(. No metro 2033 for me! lol.

  • GTX 470 Twin Frozr II fan bearing failing, need to RMA but don't have receipt

Hi all, I live in the UK and one of the fans in my GTX470 TFII has started to make an annoying grinding sound which comes and goes. Seems like a dodgy bearing, apparently this is common with Twin Frozr cards. Can't seem to find a replacement fan online anywhere (model is Power Logic PLD08010S12HH I think).
Anyway so it looks like I have to RMA the card. However apparently the RMA has to be done through the reseller as I'm in the UK. This is a problem as I bought this over a year ago and don't have any receipt for it, I can't even remember where I bought it from. How would I go about RMAing this card?

over a year probably means re-teller warranty is expired so it would need to go to straight to msi.
the shop you got it from would have your details just give them name address - last 4 digits of credit card and they'll be able to find you.
    support.msi.com
or similar to start an MSI RMA
it will take time so hope you have a card to use in the mean time. I had to go back to integrated when I did my RMA. - not even able to full screen youtube.

  • MSI GTX 580 Twin Frozr 2 - Fan weird nose at startup - is this normal?

    Hello.
When i start the computer the fans on the graphic cards always gets a weird nose like they dont know how fast they should rotate in the first second, after that its normal.
I recognized that if i have the computer layed down instead of standing up this doesnt happens, but i asked on some swedish forums and they said this is normal for the graphic card fans to be a little noisy for the first second when you start the computer. I recorded the sound of it and will upload here.
This is how it sounds: http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman02/4dcfc02753275_MOV00547.3gp

I have checked them but i will check again.
    Just to get this clarified:
Is it normal that i get that sound when I start the computer?
I always have the computer chassi standing up anyways, and i have double checked the motherboard standoffs and will do that again.
Just to get this cleared out:
Is it normal to hear that sound in about a second every time i cold boot the computer?
    Quote
I have checked them but i will check again.
best try with mainboard out of PC case, over a wooden table as there could a shorting issue.
    Quote
Is it normal to hear that sound in about a second every time i cold boot the computer?
Depend, but its not normal for sure to have such noise if the PC case is in UP position, and to do not have noise if its in DOWN position.
E.g. this should NOT depend of PC case position,
which suggest weird factor like mechanical issue, or some kind of shorting issue.
From hundred of VGAs tested i've noticed such forced FAN at boot only if there was abnormal shutdown before this.
E.g. running PC, then pull out the power cable from the PSU, e.g. sudden power lost.
Then at next boot, the VGA FAN is forced at max RPM for several seconds during boot time.
The is no such FAN force for any other situation, say press reset button, or from each one power up from case power button.
But only from unexpected power lost.
So i would say its combo between the mainboard and PSU.
But basically its sort of checking either there or not and not really a issue.

Hi guys, so, i'm often seeing many people getting 1k core with no problems, but i can't get 1k core stable, neither with 1.135v, i just stopped there. In any benchmark or game that i test, it fails and the driver stops to work.
980Mhz core/1.112 by far was the best stable over that i got, max temps was 75C, the driver is 266.77.
Did i get a bad chip for over?

You can't expect every GPU to OC as mad..
Each VGA is unique, OC is not guaranteed.

  • PC crash on 3d render 560 Twin Frozr II OC

On Crysis 2 shortly after first demo, WoW; in-game or character selection screen, Minecraft; first 2 minutes. I also tried Afterburner, Kombuster, Furmark benchmarks, the setting being high or low doesn't seem relevant as it can take 2 minutes with extreme settings or less than 1 sec with normal settings.
I tried various drives of gpu including latest ones from sites of MSI and Nvidia. Bios, motherboard updated.
Things that are pretty much ruled out so far.
1: Heat (When crash happens, GPU, CPU, MB all under 50º)
2: Software (I tried this with two versions of Windows 7 x64, 3 versions of Nvidia drivers)
3: USB overloading PSU. (Only devices plugged are keyboard&mouse)

I don't know how reliable it is but ASUS suite tells me the +12V is 12,000 V. I don't have the resources&mobility/time for the next week to fetch the hardware that is needed for testing. Thank you for your help. Any insights are appreciated as I suck at hardware knowledge myself anyway :P
It is a generic/stock psu and while it mentions dual 12v rails it doesn't say what the amps are. Be cautious with bundled psus bec of the reliability issue. Those are ok when word processing, web surfing, powerpoint presentations, movies, spreadsheet work, photo editing. But heavy gaming is different dude.

    My first problem is that i can't use a true extended monitor configuration (1 dvi + 1 vga, 1920*1080 + 1280*1024).
Dual monitor work in CLONE MODE but not in extended.
Extended mode use 1 monitor or turn to clone mode automatically :/
EXCEPT after a NEW driver installation. So if i want to use dual screen extended mode, i have to reinstall driver each time i boot...
I have use DriverSweeper in safe-mode but this trick don't work for me. I have the last nvidia driver 270 and i have try the 270 beta driver too.
Into game? That work fine (except some artifacts who appear occasionnaly (one time in metro 2033 and one time in battlefield bad company 2) but it's not fine for a new gpu i think :/)
Can you help me to fix that dual screen problem?

  • GTX 570 Twin Frozr II OC Fan

The fan on my GTX 570 Twin Frozr II OC is locked in between 40%-85%. I would like to have the full range of 30%-100%. I believe I have the latest bios. I don't want to have follow the process listed by msi for updating my bios, which involves downloading one program so you can configure something so you can use another program......
EVGA has a simple executable file which unlocks the fan speeds. Does MSI have something similar?

i can feel it , i pass my finger near the fan
then it could be your illusion/imagination...
what hapends if you force/apply max FAN speed from AB?
Does the FAN2 will speed up or keep the same state?
    And FAN1 will speedup too?
Apply max FAN RPM from AB, then observe and compare both FAN's again

  • [Tech Help Needed] GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC Fan Stops Working

    Hello everyone.
It's extremely rare for me to have computer issues, but this time it happened.
MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC, and here's the issue:
Whenever i turn on the computer the gpu fans spin for around 5seconds and after that they stop, for now they seem fine since i'm usually idling for the 1st 30minutes or so, but when i start playing games the gpu temperatures skyrocket to around 60-70 idling  in-game and the fans just won't start working, yes the the psu cables are connected to the gpu, bla bla ( duh ). i've had the gpu for around 2years and it worked fine but all of a "sudden" the fans just seem to not work and it starts getting very high temperatures, i've read someone complaining about the same issue and he was told to replace his gpu bios with some uefi bios and he said that the uefi update solved his fan issues which were the same as mine.
Now my problem is, i've never done that "Bios Flashing" and things like that and i don't know if my Board is compatible. If it worked for that person then it should work for me since the symptoms are literally the same. I've tried uninstalling the gpu drivers completely and installed again, the issue still persists.
If it's of any reference i own the following setup:
MB : ROG Asus Crosshair IV Formula
CPU : AMD Phenom II X6 1090T BE
GPU : MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC
    RAM : 2x4GB G.Skill Ripjaw X 1600Mhz
PSU: Corsair GS 700 Gaming Series ( yes its more than enough and good enough )
I've literally had no problems whatsoever with my system for a few years now, and just like that the fans don't want to work, i can play games and what not, but at around 70ºC with no fans running ..... i've tried using MSI Afterburner to boost the fan speed, the fan speed setting gets set but the rpm stays at 0. i also made it to run on windows start and its still at 0 RPM.
Will the uefi bios solve my problem like it did to the other person with the exact same issue?
Thank you for your time spent reading, hopefully it will be solved.

Still no reply after 2 days, impressive support right there ... every other post that came after got replied ...
Anyway, if its also relevant about my issue :
    - Fans briefly spin after i press the power button to turn on my computer and stop right after around 3-5s and never spin again until i shutdown and power on again for the same brief spin.
    - If i force the fans on Afterburner to 90% or above ( 100% ) they spin and make unsupportable noise.
Also if its of any relevance :
    N660 TF 2GD5/OC
    S/N: 602 - V287 - 050B1302044857
At least provide me with the most up-to-date uefi/gop vbios or whatever that is, to see if it fixes my problem, otherwise recommend me a substitute cooling system that i can use ( a good one, not 3rd rated ) to replace the stock cooling in this because i don't have the money to get another card, and if i get one it won't be from msi for sure.
    Very dissapointed.

  • Broken Fan Blades on MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr

    Greetings,
I quite recently purchased an MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozer OC and have been extremely happy with it, but today I had to replace a faulty motherboard and upon pulling the guts out of my computer I found two smashed up fan blades in the bottom of my case. The two blades in question seem to have snapped off completely from the bottom and I cannot figure out why.
The card still works perfectly so I'd prefer not to have to send it to Holland for repairs, is it possible to get a spare fan from MSI or from elsewhere?
    Thanks in advance.

Fans aren't sold separately by MSI. Some guys here could obtain those on ebay from China but you'd need to check for the right ones as they won't be sold as Twin Frozr replacement fans. Alternatively MSI would need to repair it (not for free of course as it is physically damaged). Other than that you could get an aftermarket cooler.
