[GTX 560Ti] Artifacts and Crashes.

I'll try to make this as painless as possible for it has been a huge pain in the rear for me. I've owned this card since April 2011 and since the very first time I used it to play games it worked GREAT!! Later on that same night I used it to watch a movie on it my projector. Half way through the movie I started to notice green dots as they started to jump around all over the screen it just went black and my projector stated that there was no signal. I hoped it was not my projector going out, I tested it out with my HTPC as it was always being used with that and always worked good. Everything was fine with the HTPC same movie was finished on it.
This is where the horror begins sort of like being in the twilight zone. I proceed to restart my pc with the 560ti with my monitor plugged into it this time around. Everything looked okay, I went on to play games, it worked fine. I started to doubt my projector or maybe a bad connection on my part or something. I decided to go watch some youtube videos and I started seeing those ugly green dots and bam my monitor goes black "No Signal" for a short second and I am greeted by the "driver has stopped working." as it powers back on. I go to nvidia and download the latest stable driver available at that time and did a clean install. Next day everything worked! I didn't see any of those little GREEN MONSTERS and thought that was the end of them. Three days go by while attempting to play rift, I saw objects all over the place Huge black triangles and rectangles. At this point I knew something had to be wrong with this card and I began my long and tiring process of trouble shooting it.
I tried using nvidia's ref clocks nothing, rolled back to the original driver nothing, reinstalled windows with latest nvidia drivers nothing. I posted in the nvidia forums on this problem and people stated that I should wait til the drivers mature. A year has almost passed I tried all of the drivers they have released and am currently on 295.73 still the same problem, only as an added bonus now it will artifact on desktop as well doing nothing. I have tried everything from switching browsers to disabling hardware acceleration nothing I mean NOTHING works. I wish I hadn't waited this long and returned it that same week I bought it. The only temporary fix for this is to shutdown your pc and remove the power cord from the power supply and then press on the power button to let all of the current from the components to discharge and then plug it all back in and you get a day or two with no artifacts.
The only thing I learned from this was well, I payed premium for a OVERCLOCKED card for them to tell me to down clock it to stock. I could have very well bought a ref card for a lot less. I don't know who's at fault here MSI or nVidia. As if it weren't already inconvenient enough that my product failed and or never worked properly, MSI says I am responsible for the shipping If I decide to do an RMA. While it's not expensive to ship I feel as if I was ripped off from day one and listening to people telling me to wait while drivers mature. I feel this incident will make me stray away from MSI even though I loved their products at a point and time.
Here's my system specs doubt it matters though.
i7 2600k @ 4.8GHz
ASUS P8P67 Deluxe
Patriot 2x4GB 1866MHz RAM
MSI GTX 560 Ti twin frozr OC
Crucial 64GB Boot SSD
2x 1 TB storage HD's
Windows 7 64bit
Before anyone says my cpu clocks are probably not stable thus causing this, I've had these things happen at stock clocks as well.

test the card in another computer
I tried this I forgot to mention it, it ran furmark and kombuster for 2 minutes without starting to artifact followed by freezing the whole system on a i7 950 which worked fine with a 6950 that was previously in the system. I even tested the known and working 6950 in my system with no problems. It's this card that is the problem the 560ti ref clocks don't even work, and it has never been over clocked maybe I was just unlucky with the chip that came with it but I have no idea how this card passed the quality check. To make it worse it seems like a bunch of us have the same problem with these cards why all of them passed quality checks is beyond me but I think nvidia should recall all of this cards and figure out what is going wrong with them and stop telling us that they can't reproduce the problem we are all having. I would be glad to send them my card to show them how badly they messed up with this one.

I'm an very very casual gamer, i play games once or twice a week; in the last period i didn't played games for one month; i've used my pc for mail, office, watching movies, messenger, facebook, web browsing, hdd data recovery, programming php. Before upgrading to 970A-G43, i had the same configuration - except MB and RAM (i used for 4 years K9A2GM V3 with 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800 KingMax and the actually N650-1GD5/OCV1; played games with no problems).
After the upgrade, i installed OS Windows XP SP3 with clean install, AHCI Mode, latest drivers - no problems 'till there. I have installed latest version of DirectX 9.0c and some games: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Euro Truck Simulator 2, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed. All with same problem: pc freezes with artifacts and then freeze - sometimes after 3-4 minutes of playing, othertimes after 10-15 minutes.
I've checked the RAM with MemTest86 for one night, no errors. I've checked the CPU and GPU Temperature, all stable (CPU around 40, GPU around 70 under full load). I've stressed up the system with Prime95 and Furmark latest version running at the same time - all stable (Tested for 30 minutes, CPU around 43 C, GPU around 85 C - no freeze, no crash).I installed 3D Mark 06, i ran it and it freezes in-time of first test or after it.
VGA driver was 320.49 WHQL initially, downloaded from nvidia website. I uninstalled it, cleaned my OS with Driver Sweeper, installed latest version from MSI Website (MSI Graphics Driver 306.81 ). Both drivers, same problems.
I'm pretty sure that there is no problem with PSU or MB's VRM (VRM supports 125W TDP, CPU is running 65W. My old boad K9A2GM V3 has only 65W and there were no problem). If there were problems, the system would crash in prime 95 and furmark running at the same time, i think.
I didn't tested yet my VGA on other PC, neither another VGA in my PC.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated.
P.S.: In BIOS, all is set on AUTO - except DDR Speed - Manually set to 1333 MHZ with auto timings.
C1E Enabled, Cool and Quiet Activated, EUP 2013 Enabled.
I have flashed MB to latest BIOS, v10.3; same problem
    Any suggestion is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards!

VGA Card is dead. Probably at least one memory chip died or has errors on it.  Testet on another PC and results are same, in 3D Mark and Crysis 3 too.
I sent the card to warranty services.
    Problem is solved.
Thanks a lot to all of you who read my post.

cause my computer cost alot of money, anyways there must be some solution to the problem..? Everyone is saying MSI Afterburner will fix the problem
for you i've tried that ALOT, i'm even running it right now, i've increased the volt, decreased clocks, i mean.. can someone tell me a good setting for the
video card? Like seriously it's not stable..
    I've tried this....
    1. Use Afterburner [Just need a good stable setting maybe?]
    2.Reinstalled my computer.
3.Updated drivers also i've tried to change to beta drivers.
4.Picked older versions of nvidia drivers..
    Please help me? :(

Also maybe change PCI-E cabel? that's connected to the graphic card?..
I think the warrenty is off, i contacted MSI for a while ago they said i had it left and they were able to change it to a new one that's working but
.. yeah, don't know what i should do! Some people that got their card replaced didn't help, they still have the problem..

Well MS-7673 can be a couple of boards: http://www.msi.com/service/search/?kw=MS-7673&type=product
None the less let's concentrate on the vga. When does it show artifacts. Right when starting 3D, after some time or randomly? If possible add screenshots.
It's very random when It's going to crash, i have 2 pictures showing how it could look, also just want to say that sometimes when My computer tries to reset The card, i can get a bluescreen.

  • Gtx 560ti hawk problems

    Hey guys!

    gfx: msi 560TI hawk

    soundcard: creative x-fi titanium
    case: coolermaster storm enforcer
    issues
since building this system I have had a collection of issues mostly based around battlefield 3:
    1) when playing battlefield 3 there are a lot of black triangles normally between players and objects, objects and objects etc. This was briefly fixed with a beta driver update from nvidia but started again a few days later.
    2) similar to above but the triangles / shapes are the colors of textures. same as above with driver.
    3) sometimes battlefield will 'minimize' but you are unable to switch back to the game, from here the game has basically crashed and you have to end the task.
other issues outside of battlefield are:
    4) When playing A-10 warthog the textures go all rainbow colors. (this also happens in battlefield but not as common)
    5) when watching youtube, the graphics card has artifacted and crashed.
    my testing:
I ran some tests using msi afterburner to measure temperatures and furmark to stress it. It seems that once the card reaches 80 degrees Celsius it starts to artefact, I then lowered the clock on the core and shaders and it still happened. upon lowering the memory clocks it stopped artefacting. and as long as the card is kept under 80 degrees it seems to not crash and a all of my problems (so far) are gone.
I believe that this should not be acceptable, I paid for a factory overclocked card to save the hassle of overclocking it myself, but have had nothing but problems. Could a bios update on the graphics card fix these issues or should the card be RMA'd straight off the bat?
    Cheers, Dave.

Hey Svet, Sadly we don't have access to another computer to test on, I'm going to pop down to our local pc store tomorrow to ask if they can test it for us.
I've been doing a little more testing with furmark and afterburner - I reseated the card today and cleaned up some cabling, tomorrow I'm going to look at increasing the case airflow as we currently have one intake and one exhaust fan in the case.
after reseating and cleaning the case up a bit the card doesn't reach 80degrees while playing games or running furmark - it does still get to about 75-78. after some more testing and playing around (Forcing it to go above 80 by turning the fan down still causes the card to have issues.)
I've read about these cards going to 100 degrees with no issues, should I be RMAing this card or work on keeping it cool and find another computer to test it in?

  • MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk SLI not available

I have 2 MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk and when I go into Nvidia control panel SLI is not available as an option.
Both cards are visible and working properly in both the Device manager and the Nvidia control panel and the bridge is installed between the cards.
I am using Nvidia driver 285.62 which I have completely removed and reinstalled to try and solve the problem.
The only strange thing I noticed when installing the cards is that there is a small switch next to the SLI bridge that is marked Performance and Silent. When I opened the boxes one card had the switch was set to performance and the other was set to silent. Looking on the net I found that this was how aggressive the fan control was so I set them both to silent. After running into the problem of no SLI I also tried shutting down the machine and moving both switches to Performance but this didn't fix the issue.
Motherboard is a MSI Z68A-GD65 and Live update 5 says its up to date.
Any pointer on where to look would be appreciated.

K  problem sort of solved. I installed an old nvidia driver 270.61 and it works perfectly. Guess I'll just use the old drive until a game is giving me major issues and then see if a new drive is safe.

  • MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti "Twin Frozr II" crash at 50 degrees Celsius

I get artifacts (pink squares all over screen) in heaven benchmark, fluid benchmark and gta 4,  a few seconds  later I get a black screen and then an error message there windows tell me the driver has crash but praise msi it was successfully recovered. All this then the card is nearing 50 degrees Celsius.
    I have:
MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti "Twin Frozr II", (BIOS: 70.24.0a.00.00)
    Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H, Socket-AM3

    Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz 4GB CL9
    Windows 7 64bit (with sp1)
    DC OUTPUT    +3.3V +5V  +12V -12V  +5Vsb
    MAX LOAD    24A    30A  52A   0.8A   3A
I tested driver on msi site and the latest nvidia driver, even tested some beta driver. All give the same result as stated above. I also tested to set the clocks at reference speed but no go. Also tested voltage at 1025.

Got a new card today, same card but new.
No problems now, seem the new card has newer bios and lower  core voltage. Maybe that is a way to fix it, just upgrade bios.

  • GTX 560Ti Power Edition always crashing!

    Hi,
I just got a new MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti OC Power Edition "448 Edition" OC Twin FrozR III.
Every time i try to play a game. a few seconds in and the pc crashes and restarts.
    My pc specs are:
    -Intel i5 2500k

In Afterburner i can see the temp running ok just above 40c so that seems ok so im not sure whats up with it.
I got this just in time for xmas and i can't play with it  :(
    please help!

I was afraid of that. means i will have to buy a new PSU then. I'm looking at these..

I'm thinking of getting the 850w one because it only costs a little more and will be future proof.
    What would be your recommendation?
wish i could test tho before buying but i don't have any other PSU's and don't know any one that does have a good one to use.

  • GTX 560Ti Hawk high temperature and noise

First of all I want to say "Hi" because this is my first post here!
Second, I have problems with my GTX 560Ti Hawk! The problems are high temperature and very loud fans! I bought this card less than a month ago and it didn't work properly from the first day but I wanted to give it a chance so I kept it for a while so I could monitor symptoms. I haven't even tried to OC it. I monitored it the way it came from the box.
In idle card doesn't go over 40°C which is fine by me considering the weather but when I play games it goes all the way to 85°C and it's loud as jet taking off! It's is pretty much intolerable to be near this card when playing games! This product is advertised to be very cold and very silent but now that isn't the case. What bothers me most is that the card was running on open bench table which has very good air cooling ( I made it myself and decreased ~10°C compared to my case). That means that my Hawk would have burned if tested inside the case, or it would fly away!! :D
Everything is good until card hits 76°C - that's tolerable temperature and the card is still silent, but when it hits 76°C and goes up, all hell breaks loose!
Card doesn't crash and it runs perfectly (got performance increase ~30% from my GTX 460) but way higher temperatures and noise above advertised makes me wanting to crash it with a sledgehammer! :D
I RMA it today and waiting for answer which should arrive in two weeks tops (quick when taking money but very slow when support is needed)
I wanted to ask if RMA is even possible when card isn't crashing??? I RMA cards with similar problems before with no problems but that was Gigabyte - not sure what can I expect with MSI because this is my first MSI product since 2003. RMA should be possible because card has failed to fulfill expectations which are guarantied by MSI...
If they refuse to send another card or return the money, what should I do???
    Computer specs:
    AMD Phenom 2 X4 955BE
    Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4
2x2 GB DDR3 Mushkin Blackline Stiletto
MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk (previously owned Gigabyte GTX 460 768MB which never went above 65°C even highly OC-ed)
    Seasonic 620-GM
Patriot Pyro 60GB and WD 640GB Green

  • GeForce GTX 560Ti TF2 OC (Artifacting)

Good evening, or morning, or whatever it is where you are. I bought myself this card about 7-8 weeks ago, and it's been doing splendidly. However, in the past few days I have started to notice some artifacting, tonight, the artifacting went balistic. 3d models/shapes/objects were blown apart to hell and back.
    The long and skinny
Temps are fine, peak 59°C under load
I have removed any Overclocks on the system
    I updated the drivers
I ran ATiTool for artifacts,a nd it found none
I ran Kombustor, and it too popped up some artifacts, and after 5 or so minutes, it shot a ploygon out the side of the I

All temps are fine, and the card diagnoses ok, but there's definetly something going on.
Any ideas? because I can not fathom the idea of RMAingsuch a new card. I'm going to run back over to Frys and beg and plead tomorrow, but my hopes on that reality coming to fruition are not high.
If I have to RMA, does anybody know a way to both expedite it, and/or have MSI pay shipping both ways. I'm fed up as a consumer of having to pay a shipping "penalty"  for rubbish quality control/engineering.

Voltage was untouched, and I had a mild OC to 925Mhz and 2300mhz on the memory. Not exactly abusing the thing. Although, I don't run that OC unless I need it, and I haven't needed it, so it's been running stock. :(
Last night, I decided to pull it out and reseat it, and the artifacts appear to have stopped. but that kind of concerns me anyway, so I'm going to put the card through it's paces today, stress the heck out of it, and see if it holds together, then I'll call Frys, and see if they'll deal with me, if not, then I guess I'll have to go down the RMA path. Which I'm seriously tired of the RMA path.
It's not like I'm violent with the stuff either....
PC is a 24/7 rig, but power management stays in tact,
Mild non-24/7 OCs on everything but CPU, which is a 24/7 OC.
    UPS for power filtering
I've always researched and bought good quality PSUs
    I keep it dust free
    I keep it well ventilated.
Yet I seem to be able to kill a lot of hardware. :(

  • N460GTX Cyclone 768D5/OC blue artifacts and stopped responding

In the last month I have been having issues with my graphics card to the point that I can't play any game (at all, always stops responding), flash on websites cause video driver "stopped responding" error, vlc or media player videos cause stopped responding error, and any 3d screen saver preview in windows 7 causes artifacts and sometimes the stopped responding error.  I can still do anything 2D fine but always haver little blue artifacts all over the screen.  Current drivers are Nvidia 266.58, I have tried MSI drivers, Nvidia 260.* drivers and a set of older Nvidia drivers that supposedly didn't have the stopping issues but all had problems even after fully wiping the old drivers on every install.
Given the power issues I have seen in past threads I hooked up my Kill-a-watt again (I always baseline my systems on burn in with that), and I am finding my Wattage draw hasn't changed.  Kill A Watt measures 188W avg Draw, Peak 250W.  All drives set on RAID to spin up sequentially so I don't get the max draw you'd expect.  I ran this with superPi, prime95 and memtest and all run fine with max draw I saw at 250W.  I tried to run 3d benchmark tests but like all 3d apps they all crash after video card not responding error.  When building this I carefully specd out the power supply with conservative numbers and multiple online calculators, this PS should be able to handle adding 2 more 1TB drives as long as I don't do SLI (don't have room in case anyway with RAID controller).
I have tried all I can think of to resolve this but nothing helps and I'm thinking it's got to be an issue with the card since nothing in my config has changed.  Is it the card for sure and will need RMA?

  • GTX 580 artifacts

    Hello!
I am using a GTX 580 Twin Frozr II and I am getting green artifacts in demanding games etc, haven't really noticed it in older games/simple programs.
What happens is that the game freeze and there are green artifacts and then it crashes back to desktop.
I have been reading some about this issue and I've seen that people either rma their card or some people suggest that you could increase the voltage or something similar. I have never overclocked and things like that so I'm not really comfortable with doing that, I want the card to work fine as it is, I mean I don't want to buy one of the most expensive cards on the market and then have to overclock/underclock it to get it to work.
I did try to rma my card, they did a lot of testing with it,they ran benchmarking programs like heaven dx11 and furmark, but unfortunately it was all good when they tried it so I got the same card back. And of course it is still happening. For example 10 minutes ago I started Just Cause 2 and played for about 1 minute untill the green artifacts appeared.
    I have a Corsair AX850W so my psu shouldn't be a problem. 4GB Ram, Asrock P55 Extreme motherboard and a i5 750 at 2.66GHz.
I would really appreciate allt the help I can get! Thank you in advance!

If you download it and use something like Nibitor, it shows you the BIOS version as 70.10.17.00.01 (date: 03/01/11).
add: as it's factory OC then you should be able to RMA (IMO) no problems. But that's painful / slow and a quicker fix would be to raise the volts very slightly until you get stability back (I doubt it'd be a huge increase). Or you can always try the older 'official' BIOS.
Hi. I did RMA it, sent it back to where I bought it from. and they ran some tests but found that it was working perfectly so I got it back again..
Should I increase the voltage by one at a time and test?

  • MSI GTX 560Ti TWIN FROZR II 1GB GDDR5

Currently I'm experiencing a problem where no matter what I'm doing, whether it is gaming or browsing, green/orange chequered squares appear exactly as in the picture below:
The problem lasts for a matter of seconds and then windows informs me that the drivers have recovered from a failure. This is very remininsant, but not identical, to when I had a 9800GT that died. This issue has only started within the last month and the card is over 6 months old. Is this likely to be a GPU issue?

    Seagate ST3500418AS 500GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 16MB Cache - OEM
    Thermaltake 500W PSU

Sadly I've no way of testing the card in another PC or a different PSU.
What is the likelihood that it is the PSU even though the card has been performing flawlessly for almost a year? Also I could understand if it was causing artifacts just when gaming due to power load, but it happened when I was merely surfing the net, where power draw doesn't even reach 300W.
Is a known solution to this issue an increase in Watts or is there a chance that it is a problem with the GPU?
