Gtx 560ti hawk problems

Hey guys!
specs:
cpu: i5-2500k
ram: 16gb g-skill ddr3 ram
gfx: msi 560TI hawk
mobo: asus p8z68-m pro
powersupply: 750w (can't recall brand right now)
soundcard: creative x-fi titanium
case: coolermaster storm enforcer
issues
since building this system I have had a collection of issues mostly based around battlefield 3:
1) when playing battlefield 3 there are a lot of black triangles normally between players and objects, objects and objects etc. This was briefly fixed with a beta driver update from nvidia but started again a few days later.
2) similar to above but the triangles / shapes are the colors of textures. same as above with driver.
3) sometimes battlefield will 'minimize' but you are unable to switch back to the game, from here the game has basically crashed and you have to end the task.
other issues outside of battlefield are:
4) When playing A-10 warthog the textures go all rainbow colors. (this also happens in battlefield but not as common)
5) when watching youtube, the graphics card has artifacted and crashed.
my testing:
I ran some tests using msi afterburner to measure temperatures and furmark to stress it. It seems that once the card reaches 80 degrees Celsius it starts to artefact, I then lowered the clock on the core and shaders and it still happened. upon lowering the memory clocks it stopped artefacting. and as long as the card is kept under 80 degrees it seems to not crash and a all of my problems (so far) are gone.
I believe that this should not be acceptable, I paid for a factory overclocked card to save the hassle of overclocking it myself, but have had nothing but problems. Could a bios update on the graphics card fix these issues or should the card be RMA'd straight off the bat?
Cheers, Dave.

Hey Svet, Sadly we don't have access to another computer to test on, I'm going to pop down to our local pc store tomorrow to ask if they can test it for us.
I've been doing a little more testing with furmark and afterburner - I reseated the card today and cleaned up some cabling, tomorrow I'm going to look at increasing the case airflow as we currently have one intake and one exhaust fan in the case.
after reseating and cleaning the case up a bit the card doesn't reach 80degrees while playing games or running furmark - it does still get to about 75-78. after some more testing and playing around (Forcing it to go above 80 by turning the fan down still causes the card to have issues.)
I've read about these cards going to 100 degrees with no issues, should I be RMAing this card or work on keeping it cool and find another computer to test it in?

  • GTX 560Ti Hawk high temperature and noise

First of all I want to say "Hi" because this is my first post here!
Second, I have problems with my GTX 560Ti Hawk! The problems are high temperature and very loud fans! I bought this card less than a month ago and it didn't work properly from the first day but I wanted to give it a chance so I kept it for a while so I could monitor symptoms. I haven't even tried to OC it. I monitored it the way it came from the box.
In idle card doesn't go over 40°C which is fine by me considering the weather but when I play games it goes all the way to 85°C and it's loud as jet taking off! It's is pretty much intolerable to be near this card when playing games! This product is advertised to be very cold and very silent but now that isn't the case. What bothers me most is that the card was running on open bench table which has very good air cooling ( I made it myself and decreased ~10°C compared to my case). That means that my Hawk would have burned if tested inside the case, or it would fly away!! :D
Everything is good until card hits 76°C - that's tolerable temperature and the card is still silent, but when it hits 76°C and goes up, all hell breaks loose!
Card doesn't crash and it runs perfectly (got performance increase ~30% from my GTX 460) but way higher temperatures and noise above advertised makes me wanting to crash it with a sledgehammer! :D
I RMA it today and waiting for answer which should arrive in two weeks tops (quick when taking money but very slow when support is needed)
I wanted to ask if RMA is even possible when card isn't crashing??? I RMA cards with similar problems before with no problems but that was Gigabyte - not sure what can I expect with MSI because this is my first MSI product since 2003. RMA should be possible because card has failed to fulfill expectations which are guarantied by MSI...
If they refuse to send another card or return the money, what should I do???

  • MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk SLI not available

I have 2 MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk and when I go into Nvidia control panel SLI is not available as an option.
Both cards are visible and working properly in both the Device manager and the Nvidia control panel and the bridge is installed between the cards.
I am using Nvidia driver 285.62 which I have completely removed and reinstalled to try and solve the problem.
The only strange thing I noticed when installing the cards is that there is a small switch next to the SLI bridge that is marked Performance and Silent. When I opened the boxes one card had the switch was set to performance and the other was set to silent. Looking on the net I found that this was how aggressive the fan control was so I set them both to silent. After running into the problem of no SLI I also tried shutting down the machine and moving both switches to Performance but this didn't fix the issue.
Motherboard is a MSI Z68A-GD65 and Live update 5 says its up to date.
Any pointer on where to look would be appreciated.

K  problem sort of solved. I installed an old nvidia driver 270.61 and it works perfectly. Guess I'll just use the old drive until a game is giving me major issues and then see if a new drive is safe.

  • Msi gtx 560ti hawk running always max clocks

    Hello.
My msi gtx 560ti hawk running always max clocks.
OC core clock up to 1000MHz gives similar results.
OC core clock past 1000MHz will stuck it at 1000MHz. Example i set core clock to 1040MHz and run 3DMark11,but
during the test it never exceeds 1000MHz.
Card is 15 months old and worked normally so far.
    My OC results before was
core clock 1000MHz Core Voltage 1.075V
core clock 1040MHz Core Voltage 1.088V
core clock 1100MHz Core Voltage 1.100V max temps ~78C
I never raised core clock over 1100 and memory clock over 2275.
    Things i'm done so far
    used 310.90 310.70 306.97 306.23 301.42 drivers
    disabled antivirus
mounted card out of the case and switched vbios in silence mode
used Afterburner 2.2.3 Evga Precision X
    reinstalled windows7
    reverted cpu to stock clocks
    Any advice?
    System
    MB: msi z68-gd65 (B3) bios V22.8
    cpu: i5-2500K
    gpu: msi gtx 560ti hawk
    psu: corsair TX750V2 (62 amp 12 rail)
    ram: G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 2x4g 1600
    os: Windows7 SP1

No! Nvidia controlpanel was set to max perfomans and windows power options to high perfomance.
I changed nvidia to adaptive (windows stayed high perf) and now the clocks to come down again.
    Thanks Svet!
There is still a OC problem when i set core clock over 1000MHz.
I just ran 3dmark11 at following overclock core     1040MHz
                                                                  shader 2080MHz
                                                                  memory 2100
                                                                  core voltage 1.075+0.013
In results window the 3dmark11 says core clock 1040.
Afterburner 2.3.1 monitoring window says max core clock 1000
                                                                              shader 2000
                                                                              memory 2099
Although i´m not seeing shader adjusting bar in 2.3.1, there are  only core clock adjusting bar.
But adjusting a core clock will adjust shader x2. Am i right?

  • MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk Temps & Cooling

    Good Day ...
I have had my pc for around a month now and have noticed that while folding and gaming ... I am hitting between 75 and 87 degrees with the fan profile never going lower than 80% ...
    My question is ...
Are these temps still in a safe range and if I change cooling will it void warranty ?? ... (looking at the Arctic Extreme 2)
Also ... What is that little switch and 3 pin connector on the top of the card ...
    My Rig.

    Corsair T650W V2
All information would be greatly appreciated.

Temps listed are in safe range, if you change the cooling yes this will void the warranty.
You can try to reapply GPU's thermal paste and to retest, also ensure that you have enough room inside PC case along with good and enough airflow.
    Quote
Also ... What is that little switch and 3 pin connector on the top of the card ...
It is switching between 2 different vBIOSes, one is performance one and other is silent one.
    It's related to FAN behavior

  • GTX 560Ti Hawk Getting REALLY Hot - Faulty?

    Hey,
Around a year ago I got the GTX 560Ti HAWK. What with its super special TFIII HAWK cooling, I would have expected it to stay - well - COOL. Especially under load. The fans are incredibly loud, but I don't mind as long as they're keeping my card cool, right?
Review websites state around 63 - 65 degrees when load.
I slapped on a game on GTA, even with my 60FPS limiter it ran at around 50FPS anyway, and the card rocketed to 82 degrees. 82 degrees for a supposedly super cool super special non reference card? Although this specific game was today, it's always been happening and only now have I realised there's an official MSI forum.
Is it faulty? I read somewhere that MSI may have applied thermal paste poorly to some HAWK cards. What do I do?

My case got hot and started to smell, it's really scary when it gets hot. Again I reference the review temps which promised much better.
I have an MSI Z77A GD65 mobo, I don't know anything about a performance or silent setting besides the fact I OC genie'd my 3770K to 4.2Ghz....??

  • Help GTX 760 Hawk Problem?!

    Hello there.
Recently I bought a MSI GeForce GTX 760 Hawk 2GB GDDR5, but I can't play games like Battlefield 4, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag, etc, with Default Clocks. (games like, DotA 2, Diablo III, Fifa 14, Team Fortress II runs fine)
When I play, it's just crash the game and shut down to desktop with a message "X" of the game. I need to Underclocking to 1006mhz (-105) on MSI Afterburner (Default 1136) to play!
I arealdy tried everything, Core Voltage (Memory Volt, Aux Volt), Update Drivers, on Windows 7~8.1 but still happen!
Any solution for this? defect graphic card?

Try the attached (101 is normal and 110 is the LN2 version)
Decompress the provided .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Then flash the desired file with Nvflash for dos: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/nvflash_download.html
To do so rename the desired file to .rom and create a dos bootstick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0)
Put nvflash and the vbios file on it and boot from the stick. Then type nvflash -4 -5 -6 gop.rom (if renamed vbios that way) and hit enter. Confirm the questions and let the tool flash.
What you edited in this bios? equal the default clock/gpu clock? ps: I downgrade this on msi afterburner, my mistake if I sent it downgranded.
I'm creating a DOS Flash with HP USB Disk Storage but this is taking too long...
Sorry I'm New on modifying bios!

  • MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk Question

Just a quick question to start with, how many RPMs should my fans be doing at 100%?
I have a feeling something is going horribly wrong with my new card.

Use MSI Afterburner to adjust the fan speed - you can draw a graph and dictate how much the fan should be working against a given temp.
Is the MSI GTX 560 Ti Hawk the most problematic card.....i mean EVERYONE complains about fan noise and temps. If i had read the forums first before buying the card....i wouldn't have bought it.

  • Superb temp/noise control by undervolting the Gtx 560ti Hawk!

I bought Msi N560GTX Ti Hawk a week ago..was initially disappointed with the noise the card would produce with heavy gaming.. any fan speed above 50 % would become intrusively noisy...the default core voltage on my card is 1.0500v (1050 mv)...I undervolted the card to 1.000 v (1000 mv)...Now my temps never rise above 71 C and fan speed remains at or below 50 %...card still operating at 950 Mhz core and 1900 Mhz shaders..system is rock stable and LOT less noisy...what do u guys have to say about it?..Are there any deletrious effects of undervolting the card? is 1.000 volt adequate for such high a clock as 950 Mhz on the core?

If the card is stable with a given voltage, even though it might appear to be lower than usual, then you're usually alright.

  • GTX 760 HAWK problem

I bought a new video card last month. From my Hd4670 this was a big jump, but i only enjoyed my GTX760 Hawk just for 2 weeks. After i decided that my 22 inch lg monitor was too small for movies I bought a HDMI cable to connect my Toshiba LED display to my new video card. Everything worked fine the first night, but in the morning while i was watching TV something went wrong, smoke started going out from the tv and sparks from the back of my video card. The pc was turned off so i tried to turn it on and I realized that everything was functioning including the GPU but I had no signal on my monitor. The TV was dead, it didn't even start anymore. I took the products back to the stores from which i bought them and today the answer was: "The warranty was canceled because the products broke down because of your fault."
I was wondering, considering that in the plug where i had the PC and Laptop is working and i am using it right now, the pc works, the laptop works too, and my router that was with the tv in a separate plug also works what do you thing that could cause this and what should i do to next because o payed a little too much than i wanted for this two devices.

If the pc still works most likely an issue with the TV caused this. The answer from the shop is quite hilarious. From your report I can't see why the products should have "broke down because of your fault". If you haven't done any modifications to both devices or spilled water across them there is no explanation from the shop why the warranty should be void. For the vga contact MSI about it: >>How to contact MSI.<<

  • Problem with GTX 560Ti Twin Frozr II OC SLI

Hi. I just bought another GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr for SLI and when I ran BF 3, the images are shaky. Here's my specs:
    i7 920 2.66GHz
    Asus P6T
    6 x 2GB Corsair 1600 DDR3
    2 x GTX 560Ti Twin Frozr II

    Windows 7 Pro 64bit
    Cooler Master Silent ProM 850W
I'm using the 290.36 beta driver (the others failed as well).
My motherboard BIOS is the latest version (1408). My GPUs have different BIOS (I bought the first in Feb and the new one today), is that the issue? The problem isn't just in BF 3, I also have it in Skyrim.
    Thanks!

  • GTX 460 Hawk SLi Problem

    Hello
I have this "small" problem with my MSI GTX 460 Hawk 1 GiG SLi.. Softwares like 3DMark Vantage and Bad Company 2 just dies/stops/vanishes/crashes in a wierd way... Once you are playing and then it just goes back to desktop like u didnt ever play the game or so.. like *puff*
I have tryed many things to resolve this issue, mostly these common things what u can find from every forum.. reinstal drivers and change power rails and so on... Now i have tryed drivers 258 + 259 (msi recommended) + 260 + 260.93 beta and 3dmark 06 works fine with everyone of those.. But vantage and bad company 2
gives me a problem and i guess some other games also but havent had time to try other games yet..
Tho i got vantage work once when i runned it in vista sp1 mode and 258 drivers.. wierd.. ehh?
I have already tryed so many things to resolve this that i dont have anymore ideas... What can it be? Can it be just a driver problem? I run both cards in 16x slots... Manual says slots 1 and 3 are x16 when sli so... directx is also updated...
    My comp specs are these..
    I7 930 @ 4 GHz (Stable)
    Asus Rampage 3 Xtreme
    6 gigs 1600 MHz DDR3
    850W Corsair HX850 (SLi Ready)
    MSI GTX 460 Hawk SLi
    WIN7 x64
What info u guys/girls still need?
Everything worked fine with cpu oc when i runned GTX 275... ofcourse its single card but cpu is stable anyways tested with intel burn and prime95..

    Hmmmm...
Looks like @ this point that newest nvidia drivers solved the problem... 260.99... Vantage runs fine... one crash first.. then some driver bug or smth (RTTI crash or so)..  but third run went ok and over 31k points... So didnt have to remove any hdd´s or oc to get some more power ^^ thnx anyways for the replys, always great ^^

    two things:
    First:
I noticed that the gpuz, report it when VGA is under load ( furmark )  the voltage  VDDC value the higher value is 0.96, is a low voltage ? 460gtx under load  must be near 1.02 ?
    Second:
My reseller told me that behind the card must have an sticker "void warranty if removed " over OCP protection but the card does not comes with that sticker is that possible ?
