GTX 580 OC Help Needed (N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC) | SPLIT [Twin Frozr II OC]

Hello Svet !
One month ago, I bought two N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC. One was OK, the other one had stock frequencies. Made an exchange. The third card was the same : stock frequencies, and unstable with correct OC BIOS, even with adjusting the voltage.
So, i returned the two M2D15D5/OC and got two N580GTX Twin Frozr II OC. Frequencies are OK now (core clock @822,shader clock @1645, memory clock @2138), but one card is crashing my computer when I play (I'm in SLI). But everything is OK in OCCT for example.
So I decided to check the voltages with AfterBurner.
One card is at 1,025V and the other one, the faulty one is at 1,000V.
So I tested with AfterBurner to put it at 1,025, and now, everything looks stable.
Could it be possible to have a new BIOS with the correct voltage? Because I've been following this thread since the beginning, and I understood that it can be corrected with BIOS update (by the way, I compared the 2 backuped BIOS of my cards, and they are the same... that's what I don't understand... is voltage really written in BIOS ?)
So here it is a summary of my needs :
    core voltage @ 1025
    core clock @822
    shader clock @1645
    memory clock @2138
Here are the serial numbers :
N580GTX Twin Frozr II OC
      602-V255-01SB1101009125
      602-V255-01SB1101009181
Thanks a lot Svet ! Congrats for your precious help here

Hi Svet !
How are you since last time ?
I've got a question regarding the new BIOS (NV255MS.104 found on the download page of the product) for the GTX 580 Twin Frozr II OC I own.
Let me explain :
Few weeks ago, you helped me by providing me a new BIOS with new voltage (1025 mv instead of 1000). Since then, everything is working fine. I can play hours without problem   :D Thank you !
My question is, if I update my card with this new BIOS 1.04, will I loose the 1025 mv voltage ?
What does this new BIOS bring exactly ?
Again, thank you for help here
Have a nice day Svet !

No, 1025mV will be kept.

MSI is following my steps, it will do the same as your current installed VBIOS vcore boost from 1V to 1025mV.
If you flash the newest MSI's VBIOS it will bring you nothing more than your current custom one,
but opposite you will lost extra performance.
Check and compare reports: [look especially for last 3 lines with performance calculations]

I just got two of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127567, needless to say, they are not working!
    SN 602-v255-01sb1101008715
    SN 602-v255-01sb1101221875
Just cause 2 will crash immediatley after loading the level with out of the box settings ie one card over clocked one standard.
-Both cards have a 1000mV core
-One card was at 800 core mhz
-Other was at 823 core mhz
-If I down clock both to 772 ... plays fine.
I raise both cards core volts with AB to 1050, then did a 823core 1069 memory 1645 shader oc, works beautifully. 85C runs just cause 2 without a hitch or stutter
I tried lowering to 1025 volts, that also passed.
Also 1013 mV wasn't enough, had lock ups.
Both cards need to be flashed.

it must have been related to some drivers, windows was throwing up some issues like explorer crashing on me, i reboot and now they are gone
im currently testing them in sli, i'll post when i get some results
You best reinstall VGA driver as normally a nice mess can come from there..
    see the most recently one:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=145981.msg1087234#msg1087234
    Reinstall VGA drivers by:
Use Driver Sweeper to remove current VGA drivers, do that in "Safe Mode"
    http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html
then reboot and load windows as usual,[in normal mode]
and re install latest drivers from Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

  • Some quick help needed with certificates and split brain dns.

I run exch 2010 and have one cas server(srv03).  I have split brain dns configured and working in my system.  I got a new certificate this year because of the new regulations that won't allow .internal names in the san portion of an ssl cert.
I have followed several tids on the internet and still when I tried to implement it today the outlook clients started getting a popup that says [the name on the certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site]  At the top of this popup
is srv03.abccorp.internal which is what it was before.
The certificate is for mail.abccorp.com and also includes autodiscover.abccorp.com and srv03.abccorp.com.
When I run [Get-clientAccessServer | fl Name,AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri] the name and the Url is correct and has the .com value.
When I run the test email autoconfiguration from my Outlook icon, and look at the log, Autodiscover URL found through SCP, is correct and it says Succeeded at the end.  In the results tab however the Server, Availability Service, OOF URL are still showing
the .internal instead of .com.  The Internal OWA, External OWA and the OAB are correctly displaying the .com.  What commands do I need to run to change these as they seem to be the problem.
I wasted a lot of time chasing the autodiscover before I found out about this test in outlook and realized the autodiscover url was correct. :-)
I have two days left on my old cert that has both .com and .internal SANs so I rolled that back into service so the users stop getting messages.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi OTS,
You can run the following command to Change the InternalUrl attribute of the EWS:
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "CAS_Server_Name\EWS (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl https://mail.abccorp.com/ews/exchange.asmx

is my PSU going to handle MSI GTX 580 Lightning Extreme 3GB DDR5 ?
    http://www.amazon.com/MSI-N580GTX-Li...4570127&sr=8-1
as this card has ca 30W more consumption then my current GTX560. I run it overclocked and I see no problems here. (almost on 1000Mhz Core)
As on the sites I've read they tested and they had max 20-30A, so I expect there will be no problem.
Can you guys help me figure it out?

    Oks,
    625W-155W = 470W , 470W/12V = 39A
The MSI GTX 580 Lightning Extreme needs at least 42A at +12V
I would replace that PSU with better one, [more quality one, not Fortron] and single rail [not a multi rail PSU] ==> PSU's---2 x 12v---The Dual Rail Myth: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=77071.0
with Single rail quality PSU like Corsair 650TX/V2, 750TX, 850TX or above depend of your needs
Ok, I'm going to CORSAIR HX1050, just to be ready for eventually SLI, overcloacking and to not upgrade 3x times :D
    .. Thanks

Hi - About 95 degrees. Is that hot?
Yes it is, do you have a good ventilation and enough and proper airflow inside your PC case?
Have you tried to open the side door of the PC case?
Is your FAN on the VGA is at Auto?
Can you make a photo of your card?

  • Desperately need help finding MSI GTX 580 lightning.

I ordered components for the new PC I'm building last week, and parts have arrived in the mail periodically. For my graphics cards, I ordered two MSI GTX 580 Lightning (not Xtreme) cards, both from Amazon. I intended to use them in SLI, for gaming as high resolution (please do not tell me they're overkill, I already know they are. I'm a bit tired of people pointing that out). The first one is scheduled to arrive soon, but the second card was cancelled without reason a day after I placed the order. I then tried to order the second card from AVA Direct, but that order was also abruptly cancelled. I've looked on Newegg, Amazon, and a dozen or so other sites, but can't find another available GTX 580 Lightning. I don't know why they're suddenly not available... I would be really, really grateful if anyone would help me find another MSI GTX 580 Lightning card to use in my dream rig. I live in the US. What I'm trying to do here is find someone who knows a site that has an available card that I can complete my build with. So... Help find a graphics card for a devoted enthusiast?

It seems that amazon doesn't have the product anymore after searching for 'gtx 580 lightning' and 'msi gtx 580'. Try creating a support ticket to ask msi if the product is just plain discontinued, as I don't see anyone with it in stock.
And actually, I did manage to find this place: http://www.colamco.com/store/stat/product/1071363.html
But the price for the card there is over $600.

  • Problems with my new MSI N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC Please help

Hi, purchased the above card from kuala lumpur, Malaysia on the 19th February 2011 when I visited Malaysia. Installed the card on my Core i7 950 rig.
My card is MSI N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC 3DMark 11 edition.
Had issues installing the card, blue screened many times. I was using a GTX295 with a 8800GT to handle physx earlier with no problems what so ever.
So I removed my 8800GT and checked only with the new GTX580, the card runs as an OC edition, but now the problem is I experience random freezing when I run 3D Mark 11 (It says " windows focus was lost" during bench mark running) and Crysis.
Even Mafia II bench marks gives me a rather low rating as "D", where I was getting a comfortable "C" with my earlier 295 arrangement. Crysis crashed many times too.
Posted here is a screen shot of my GPU Z and afterburner shows a 1000 mv. And I am using 266.58 drivers.
My Rig specs are, if it helps:

It's like this. Managed to get 3D Mark 11 working back again after so many tries. I just disabled the screen saver, and it was okay after that. Strange isn't it?
    with 1025mV I got a reading of P6350 and with 1038 I got P6365.
we can assume this as 3D Mark 11 issue

D mark vantage running was okay. Completed Furmark bench successfully many times. No issues there.  http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/furmark_score_190.php?id=147818
Looks like to be Kombuster issue.. since Furmark can work fine. Kombuster is based on Furmark.
If you apply reference clocks from AB does the issue described persist with Kombuster ?

Also I could play CRYSIS 2 Demo without any issue with 1025mV and 1038mV both.
Temps were around 70-75 C. Is it okay.
    My personal preference is 1038mV.
Well, what do you think? Thanks very much.  Smiley

  • Help needed with my new GTX 770 4GB OC card settings

    Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum so excuse me if this subject already been bought up,
i have recently got the msi twin frozr gtx 770 4gb oc edition, and I'm not happy at all , as the box did not come with a manual on how to get the oc mode active etc,
the software cd that came with it has a gaming app + msi afterburner so i have installed everything, and i open the gaming app, it gives me a silent mode + gameing mode + oc mode, so i click oc mode for example and all it gives me is 1254MHz  so i run afterburner i see that my temps reaches 50c + and i try to control the fan speed of my card but the gaming mode doesn't allow it to adjust to 100 % fan speed , anyway enough said let me go to the main part, i have got the kombustor running and done some tests, i found out that i have been getting low fps with the 1254MHz and my voltage clock is 1.2v ... i used to have a gtx560ti and the gtx770 fps is the same as my old card    this is jokes , now i wished i didn't even buy the gtx770 its expensive for nothing,
and the thing that makes me  is that msi didn't put any info manual in the box apart of how to install your graphics on the motherboard,
by the way my PC specs are:
    I7 4770K @ 4ghz
    16gb corsair ram @ 1600
    TX850 corsair power supply
i have the latest graphics drivers installed , got it from nvidia website (327.23) for the gtx770
by the way the kombuster score i was getting was 190 fps
with physx on, and no anti aliasing,
here's my picture of the clocks I'm getting currently
could anyone out there that have the same card is mine confirm that my card is normal ?
or is there something i need to download or get to make my fps stable as it should be for this card ?
oh and i forgot to tell you that my friend has also recently got this card and is also stuck,
hes got lower mhz than mine and lower voltages like 1.8v or something
I'm sure that theres something that we haven't done to get the best out of this graphics card
its one of the best graphics card out there,
anyway enough of writing up an essay    waiting for someone to help me out
    many thanks in advance
    Regards

the memory clock is right as its GDDR (Graphics Double Data Rate) so it has to be doubled making it 3506 x 2 (3506+3506) total of 7012Mhz (advertised GDDR5 7010MHz Memory)
as for you low FPS its more then likely a driver problem as nearly all GTX 770's are having issues and reporting low FPS you could try other drivers from Nvidia's like the lower ones or the newer Beta Driver 331.40 and see if it makes any difference!

Dunno what.. some that control your VGA freq. in real time.
Click "reset" from Afterburner if you use it to restore your VGA default clocks.
Also don't use any others in the same time.

Need help with my MSI GTX 460 Hawk.
Sometimes it hangs and I need to restart my computer and sometimes screen goes black and then windows says that video driver wasn't responding and was recovered.
Computer hangs more often in the 3D game, but in not 3D programms computer hangs too, but no so often.

I did no overclocking or anything like this.
I use the latest videodriver from nvidia's website and the latest directx.

VGA:  MSI GeForce GTX 460 Twin Frozr II
    PSU: Raidmax 500W (22A on 12v rail)
    Intel Core 2 Duo 8500 3.16GHz LGA 775
    OS: Windows 7 64bit
The problem: Videocard began to hang:
Sometimes it hangs and I need to restart my computer, sometimes I get BSOD and sometimes screen goes black and then windows says that video driver wasn't responding and was recovered.
Computer hangs more often in the 3D game, but in not 3D programms computer hangs too, but no so often.
    What I've allready tried:
    1. Installed latest drivers from nvidia.com and latest directx.
    2. Checked temperature: maximum is 70 deg. in 3D game at 100% load. I even tried to set videocard cooller allways to 100% and it didn't help.
    3. Installed MSI Kombustor to burnin test videocard, but I can't catch any hangups with it.
    4. Checked windows system log. The last warning after driver recovery message is:
Video driver nvlddmkm wasn't responding and was recovered.
    5. Two latest BSODs were caused by dxgkrnl.sys and nvlddmkm.sys drivers.
    6. Finally installed MSI LiveUpdate, it shows that no videodriver is installed and wants to download an old videodriver ver.  258.96.

  • [Tech Help Needed] GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC Fan Stops Working

    Hello everyone.
It's extremely rare for me to have computer issues, but this time it happened.
MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC, and here's the issue:
Whenever i turn on the computer the gpu fans spin for around 5seconds and after that they stop, for now they seem fine since i'm usually idling for the 1st 30minutes or so, but when i start playing games the gpu temperatures skyrocket to around 60-70 idling  in-game and the fans just won't start working, yes the the psu cables are connected to the gpu, bla bla ( duh ). i've had the gpu for around 2years and it worked fine but all of a "sudden" the fans just seem to not work and it starts getting very high temperatures, i've read someone complaining about the same issue and he was told to replace his gpu bios with some uefi bios and he said that the uefi update solved his fan issues which were the same as mine.
Now my problem is, i've never done that "Bios Flashing" and things like that and i don't know if my Board is compatible. If it worked for that person then it should work for me since the symptoms are literally the same. I've tried uninstalling the gpu drivers completely and installed again, the issue still persists.
If it's of any reference i own the following setup:
MB : ROG Asus Crosshair IV Formula
CPU : AMD Phenom II X6 1090T BE
GPU : MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC
    RAM : 2x4GB G.Skill Ripjaw X 1600Mhz
PSU: Corsair GS 700 Gaming Series ( yes its more than enough and good enough )
I've literally had no problems whatsoever with my system for a few years now, and just like that the fans don't want to work, i can play games and what not, but at around 70ºC with no fans running ..... i've tried using MSI Afterburner to boost the fan speed, the fan speed setting gets set but the rpm stays at 0. i also made it to run on windows start and its still at 0 RPM.
Will the uefi bios solve my problem like it did to the other person with the exact same issue?
Thank you for your time spent reading, hopefully it will be solved.

Still no reply after 2 days, impressive support right there ... every other post that came after got replied ...
Anyway, if its also relevant about my issue :
    - Fans briefly spin after i press the power button to turn on my computer and stop right after around 3-5s and never spin again until i shutdown and power on again for the same brief spin.
    - If i force the fans on Afterburner to 90% or above ( 100% ) they spin and make unsupportable noise.
Also if its of any relevance :
    N660 TF 2GD5/OC
    S/N: 602 - V287 - 050B1302044857
At least provide me with the most up-to-date uefi/gop vbios or whatever that is, to see if it fixes my problem, otherwise recommend me a substitute cooling system that i can use ( a good one, not 3rd rated ) to replace the stock cooling in this because i don't have the money to get another card, and if i get one it won't be from msi for sure.
    Very dissapointed.

I have two PC's. Both with one MSI Twin Frozr II O/C GTX 580 card inside. It seems to me that both are working according to specifications, GPU-Z reports:
GPU clock 800 Mhz, Memory 1024 Mhz, Shader 1600 Mhz for the borth of them.
Now, one of them seems not to be totally stable (this is the newest I bought a few days ago). It locks up/crashes in some games. The other seems ok, I've been having that one for a while. Could this be a GPU core voltage problem? GPU-Z reports for the both of them:
    VDDC 0.955 v
I've tried running MSI afterburner, changing core voltage to 1025, and in afterburner settings enable "Force constant voltage". Still, GPU-Z, which I keep running at the same time, still reports only 0.955. I thought this setting in Afterburner would change voltage to 1.025?  This situation is for both the old one and the new one.
    Now to the Bios "problem".
The newest card (the not so stable one) reports through GPU-Z: Bios Version 70.10.20.00.01
The oldest (stable) card: Bios Version 70.10.17.00.01
So... which one has the newest bios? Seems to me it is the newest card.
BUT - when running MSI Live Update 5 (newest version) it says for both the cards that they have the the newest bios version, and there's no need to upgrade??
SO - I go to the MSI webpage: http://no.msi.com/product/vga/N580GTX-Twin-Frozr-II-OC.html#?div=BIOS  to download the newest bios manually, just in case.. But there it gets more confusing. The Bios version found there is :NV255MS.104(.zip).
And also, on that page I can not find how to use that file. Extracting it just gives me the file NV255MS.104    and no extension.
So, which bios is the newest one? 70.10.20.00.01  (the highest number, in the new card, but not stable in some games), 70.10.17.00.01 (in my old card, but seems stable in the games I've tried), or NV255.104  (which I don't know how to use).
I've flashed my main board bios many times over the years in various set ups, the bios on two different SSD disks and so on.. never had a problem with that, or finding out if I have the correct bios, how to do it and so on.
Maybe I'm stupid, but this MSI Twin Frozr II O/C GTX 580 bios thing confuses me a lot... So, how do I solve this situation?

I am also interested in the answer as I have 2 MSI N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC cards. I can find the latest BIOS file "NV801MS.KG4.zip" and know the version is "KG4". But how do you relate this to the current BIOS version Afterburner or GPU-Z provides? The version they each provide is "70.10.17.00.01" for both cards. The only other way to determine if they are up to date is to install and run MSI Live Update. MSI Live Update responds that they are up to date with no current version or online version information on the Live Update tab. At least the information on the Home tab states the same VGA BIOS version as GPU-Z and Afterburner. I can can only assume that the BIOS is updated by using MSI Live Update.
Also just for the additional information GPU-Z displays my VDDC as 1.039 briefly then 0.995 constantly when switching between cards. I actually have the cards set to 1.050 with Afterburner to be stable when running Crysis 2 DX11 updates.

  • MSI GTX 580 Lightning + Asrock Z68 Pro 3 Issue

    Hi!
I just bought a new computer with gtx 580 lightning and asrock z68 pro 3 motherboard. I am having issues with the pci-e slot and the graphics card. My motherboard doesnt recognize the card. I have updated my MB bios to newest one but it didn't help. I also tried the lightning in my old gaming rig and it worked fine there. Also tried my old graphics card in my new rig and worked just fine. Power wise I should be fine because my old rig has 600w power supply and it worked, new rig has 50 wats more and is more quality PSU.
Also the red and green leds on the gtx 580 lightning are on and fans are spinning but when I try to attach the monitor it just doesnt give anything out.
I am really running out of options here and dunno what to do. I have the intel i5 2500k processor so I can use the onboard graphics to prowse the web. Also managed to install win7 64bit and MB drivers.
Anyone having this same issue ? Or any solutions to my problem? Would be nice to get my rig up and running fully.
    Thanks!

AsRock already tested the combination and it works:
    http://forums.tweaktown.com/asrock/45683-asrock-z68-pro-3-msi-gtx-580-lightning-issue.html
Maybe the motherboard has broken PCI-e slots, as Asrock suggested, goto a dealer and check it out with them.
The combination is not a problem, but if a PCI-e slot is broken it can explain all of this.
As the card works in other systems, it's hardly possible it's the card, else it would fail too.
And yes, because an ATI card works it doesn't mean the PCI-e slot is good, have seen such before.
He replaced the board with new one Asus P8P67 Pro and still doesn't works on-board led shows VGA init error.
So 2 different brand new boards with broken slots is very unlikely. [both of them worked fine with different video cards]
The MSI's GTX 580 Lightning worked fine in meantime with the same PSU [he also tested with different one and it works fine with both PSU's on 3th board] on 3th different mainboard.
It's some kind of compatibility issue [based on all facts]

They test it but not with the same card Lightning card, they used reference card instead [MSI N580GTX-M2D15D5].
The VBIOS structure of the non reference design used on Lightning cards are very different compared to regular versions,
as well the card itself compared to reference one.

  • Two (separate) GTX 580 Twin Frozr OC running too hot?

I just just bought two GTX 580 Twin Frozr II OC. I can't run these in SLI yet but have tested both separately in my PC. Something doesn't seem right in the temps. Both cards when using Kombustor get to 85+ degrees. I was made to believe these cards are meant to be far cooler than the reference design (box states 19C cooler!). I tested the cards separately. Ambient temp is just under 30C.
Here are my relevant PC specs:
    Intel Core i7 920 2.67GHz D0
    Thermalright Venomous X + Scythe S-FLEX 120mm 1900rpm SFF21G
    EVGA X58 Classified E760 Motherboard
    Mushkin 6GB DDR3 1600 MHz Redline (998691)
    Corsair HX-620W PSU
    Lian Li PC-A77B (+ W75BT side window)
    Scythe Kaze Master Pro 5.25"
    5x Case fans (3 in - 2 out)
    Pioneer S16J DVD DL-RW
    Western Digital Black 1TB WD1002FAEX
    Western Digital Green 1TB WD10EARS
    Asus Xonar Xense 7.1
Also, when using one of these cards, it bumps my CPU from 40C to 63C idle!
Funny thing is, my GTX 470 was actually cooler than this and that card was heavily overclocked.

While I undertand that you will get different results I still haven't read anywhere on the internet that anybody has claimed a 19c difference with these cards or anything close to it. Have you ?   If you have read it somewhere can you please post the links here.
The actual box claims it is 19C cooler than the reference cooler. See MSI's own site: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N580GTX-Twin-Frozr-II-OC.html

Increasing intake will not do you much good, you need to increase exhaust airflow somehow. Exhaust airflow should be greater than intake. A side intake blowing on VGA cards can help but any way you do it exhaust air still needs to be greater than intake air.
This is a good point. I'll be buying some 2200RPM Yate Loons soon from my water cooling set up (will be throttling them to 1200-1600RPM), I will install two of these in my case as a test to see if my temps drop. I'll then install more as intake as well and observe the difference.
