GTX 660 Ti - Battlefield 4 - Blue Screen

I'm getting pretty frequent Blue Screens trying to run Battlefield 4.
The card is an MSi GeForce GTX 660 Ti Power Edition 2GD5/OC
I'm looking for a couple of things:
1)  If there is any specific GeForce driver version that has been shown to work "best" with Battlefield 4 on the 660 Ti.  I am currently on the latest as of this writing - 334.89.
and
2)  What are the slider settings in MSi  Afterburner to UN-OverClock this card?  I want to see if the factory OC is killing the card in BF4, so I need to know how to throttle it back to where a stock 660 Ti would typically run.
Thanks!

Blue Screens are normally caused by a combination of hardware.
What does the rest of your system consist of, including PSU.
Nvidia drivers may cause screen tearing or a recovery of the graphics driver, i.e. a black screen and then it will state that the graphic driver has recovered.
Can you describe the exact symptoms and if it is a BSOD, what is the error code you are getting.
A stock 660 would have a core clock of 915MHz.
Rest of system specs now in signature.
BlueScreenView reports the following for the last crash I got.
Exact symptoms are that the game suddenly freezes, the audio goes into a tight loop, and then it blue-screens.
At this point, having now come up to speed on the MSi Over-voltage situation on the 660 Ti, I'm wondering how to safely throttle back this voltage, as well as the clocks, to factory specs.  I'm concerned that BF4 is simply too demanding and it's crashing the card due to either the OC or over-voltage.

  • [Problem] MSI GTX 770 Blue Screen

Good morning. I am new to this forum, my name is Karl. In December last year I bought a MSI GTX 770 Twin Frozr. The board works fine, but have had many blue screens with nVidia drivers (official site). I decided to install the drivers from the MSI jointer (331.65) which worked well for a few months. This April 15 I began to have blue screens again, I've had five so far.
I must say that my pc is in perfect condition and always keep in good condition.
    My Specifications:
    Processor: Intel I5 3570K 4.2 Ghz OC.
    Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-M
    Processor Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212
    HD: 1TB WD Blue
Video Card: MSI GTX 770 2GB
Memory: 2x4 GB Kingston Hyper Ram
Please help! Do not understand how MSI does not release updated drivers but the 331.65 are very old!

Remove current drivers in safemode using >>Driver Fusion<<. After reboot install latest Nvidia driver: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/73780/en-us

  • MSI GTX 660 Black screen on HDMI input

    Hi all,
    First of all, spec list:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE (stock clocks and voltage)
    MSI 990FXA-GD80
MSI GTX 660 (stock clocks and voltage)
    2x4GB Kingston HyperX Predator DDR3 RAM (stock @ 1333MHz)
    Corsair GS600 (49A 1 12V rail)
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
    2x Cooler Master Excalibur
    LG 50PM670T (50inch plasma 600Hz sub-field)
Right, so here goes, my issue. Ever since setting up this rig, I've noticed that if I connect it to my TV through the HDMI port on the GPU directly to a HDMI port on the TV, it works fine until I reboot. After I reboot, nothing can be displayed and it's only when I use a VGA cable directly to my TV that anything pops up on the screen. I would then have to wait a fair while (up to like an hour) for it to recognise the HDMI input again. As I'd just set this up and hadn't installed any drivers, I put it down to a driver issue.
Now I've installed the Nvidia driver included in the CD, it still does the same thing. Well, sort of. When I boot it up, nothing at all shows up on my TV. Infact, the only thing that shows up is "no signal". However when it loads into windows, if I unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in again several times I get the noise when you plug a USB device into Windows (duhh-dum) and then it displays correctly. Again though, when using VGA (DVI-> VGA on the graphics card end) it displays fine right from the get-go.
Is there something else I need to do? something in the BIOS? something in the Nvidia Control Panel? I did have the AMD Catalyst software installed as I have an AMD CPU, so I uninstalled that thinking they might be conflicting, but it didn't make a difference. Unfortunately, I don't have a DVI to HDMI adapter so I can't see if it's a display conflict with the TV or the HDMI port on the GPU.
Many thanks to those who take the take to read and respond and again, I haven't modified any settings at all, just kept everything at stock values.

check setting in nvidia control panel,
there is options for multi display,
which to be 1st, how to operate, clone, extend.
try play with them and see how its goes

  • MSI gtx 570 twin frozr III - Dual Screen Windowed mode issues

Ok, so... I was running a solo monitor 1440x900 resolution, i recently purchased a brand new asus 24 inch 1900x1080 monitor. Basically what is happening is when i play WoW or Battlefield 3 in windowed mode on the 1080p monitor the colors are not perfect. When i go full-screen on the new monitor no issues, but that is not what i want to have to live with. When i say the colors are not perfect what i mean is, for example when i look @ the sky instead of being a smooth transition or blend from one shade of the sky to the next it is bars or stripes of each shade as if i am looking at the sky in 8 bit color instead of 32 bit color. Another thing to note is that when i login to windows 7 the blue screen where i input the password has the same effect. The 1440x900 monitor is running everything just fine. the only issue is with the 1080p monitor.
I am using DVI cabling for both, and have swapped them around to see if that was the issue, and sadly it is not. I am running the updated gpu driver, which i uninstalled and re-downloaded and installed again tonight.
When i use the HDMI cable,  that fixes the issue but i need the HDMI for my 42 inch tv.
Also in windows, just to cover my bases with this post, i have the native resolutions properly configured, as well as in the game for the given monitor it is being played on.
Anyone know of a fix for this?
    i7 2600k
    asus PBZ68-v Pro/Gen3
    Msi gtx 570
    Samsung syncmaster 953bw (1440x900)
    Asus VS248 (1900x1080)
I am more than happy to re-explain anything that may not be as descriptive or clear to you just let me know!
    EDIT!
When i run the 24 inch 1080p new monitor as my only monitor on the system, everything runs perfectly...
    Edit #2
Ok so i have pin pointed a possible cause
This msi gtx 570 struggles with operating multiple displays with different resolutions, while dual screening with my 1080p television and the 1080p display, everything runs as expected. Having to also render a 1440x900 display is probably the reason i am having the graphic issues. Is there any type of utility, setting, or other fix to this type issue? also this gpu is certainly less than 2 weeks since i purchased i could get a different card to remedy this... any suggestion? if you suggest a different card can you say so with certainty that it will work properly under the condition in which 2 resolutions will be required?

Ok, the problem is fixed and Svet i skipped a step or two. I installed the new driver with the clean install to save time for an initial attempt. What is interesting is that with the Geforce driver, only one 1920x1080 resolution was available
The msi driver gave me 2 options, 1920x1080 and 1920x1080 (native). The latter resolution fixed the issue for whatever reason.
The solution to this problem is so easy, when i purchased battlefield 3 it prompted me to download the geforce.com driver and i did not think anything of it at the time, lesson learned.

  • Safe mode blue screen

After booting in safe mode with "directory recovery" (or something like that). This is one above "with network." It stops at a blue screen with only "ease of access in LL corner, and "shutdown" in LR corner. These work, but don't do anything useful. This is not BSOD.  My best theory is that it's doing something that takes a long time and I should just leave it alone, but it's been a few hours. I've tried pulling the power cord, but restarting still the same thing. If the PC came with a boot CD for rescue or restore of backup image, nobody can find it. There's no CD-writer here either. If I can order a rescue boot CD by mail, I'd like to do that. This has Windows 8, recently updated to 8.1
**next day Situation the same. I think I should try to restore the backup system image. I tried hitting F2 during reboot and got a diagnostics screen. I was hoping for a screen to boot from the backup image partition. I got the following info from the system information in the diagnostic.
    Model: 23-B012
    Serial: 3cr30806p9
    Bios: 8.09
Any suggestions on how to proceed from here welcome.
Thanks for reply. Now Tuesday morning. As it happens, I was led through a system recovery by HP on the phone. The magic key is F11 during boot. The recovery went OK, but at the end system was still in safe mode and would not allow me to proceed. HP said I needed a recovery CD. One came with the product, but had been lost or thrown away by the owner. As I write, I'm waiting for a replacement CD to arrive  by mail. Should arrive today.

  • BlackScreen and System Reboot with MSI GTX 660 OC TF

Please Svet, or another adm/technnical supporter, I need help!
    I have a MSI GTX 660 2gb/ddr5 TF OC s/n 602-V287-04SB1208202249.
I'm having some issues in some games (like Batman Arkham City, Dead Island, Mirror's Edge, Tomb Raider 2013): A few moments after I start to play I just receive a blackscreen, sound bug (like a CD scratched) and the pc reboots.
I already uninstalled the driver with driver sweeper (not in safe mode), reinstalled, installed a old driver and the issue continues. I updated the bios to the NV287MH211 bios. Not helped. I formatted my system too.
I bought another psu, the problem persists.
    My system is:
    Intel Core i5 3570k 3.4~3.8ghz
    Board Gigavyte GA-Z77X-D3H v1.0 (F16 bios)
    8gb ram ddr3 kingstom 1333mhz
    Psu OCZ ZT550w
    Windows 7 64bit
I have a Zotac GTX 460, I tested him and have no problem with the  games.
I have no idea what to do anymore.
I will attach  a screenshot from bluescreen viewer, the error that appears when I can finish the game without system reboot (ctrl+alt+del) and a log from gpu-z with the moment of the crash.
Thank you for the help, and sorry for my english.
    Blue Screen viewer:
    Batman crash error:
    Gpu-z log:
    http://www.mediafire.com/view/?ywskyvjfwyj3ub3
    Edit:
I tested Borderlands 2 and after few minutes playing the blackscreen happened, then I just hit ctrl+alt+del, the screen goes white and I listen the sound of disconnected hardware. NVidia Kernel mode sttoped work. I also installed NVidia 320.00 beta driver without solution to the problem.
Apparently, this issue only happens when I play some games that need more gpu use. I'm not sure about this.

  • Blue screens when playing games

    hello people
I bought not long ago the msi  K8T Neo-FIS2R
It worked great and i got good benchmarkresults.
But when i installed battlefield 1942 and played it , it would give me a blue screen wich says:  he would dump his memory.
i installed the latest via drivers and nvidia detonators. (lifeupdate)
now when i play halflife (counterstrike) thers seems to be no problem at all.
i know halflife is a lightweight game and battlefield is not, so more heavier load wil make my windows crash.
Reading almost every thread on this forum i can say i found my solution for the problem.
I read here that you recommend a pcu of at least: 12V > 20 ampere
but mine is only 16 ampere on 12V
    I have 4  case fans> a WD raptor > dvd player, burner . etc. >>>> i think i will buy a new psu.
    now i have another problem.
when i install the newest via drivers and i install the via 2.0/3.0 agp driver > i have this very strange problem.
when i install the nvidia drivers , the installation is ok > i look with the drivers , and there are none installed. > not even nvidia logo in the left corner (next clock)
    >> what driver i want to install, it doesnt mather. >windows wont use it.
when i install the via drivers without de agp driver>>> i do not have any problems.
    any suggestions?
(ps sorry for grammar mistakes > i am dutch

    hello people
    (geertje > dark half)
now i've installed windows xp 64
after some driver problems i've managed to create a very solid and stable system.
AND when i install the via 4-1 drivers from via my problems seems to be solved.
NOW after the install of the agp driver > i do not have any problems installing the nvidia graphic drivers.
    strange isn't it.
in win xp (32 bit) i cannot install the latest via AGP 2.0/3.0 driver.
but with windows xp 64 i can without problems.
there are no blue screens anymore.
tyresmoke: you have advised me to buy a better psu. (i didnt buy one yet).
But the problem lies with the agp driver from via.
when i install this one and reboot> it always gives a blue screen> without the via driver > no blue screens   (only blue screen with battlefield 1942 or vietnam)
there is something with my agp slot or hypertransport??
    anyone suggestions?
ps . > ive tried mem test 86 for 16 hours and found NO PROBLEMS
ive run prin 95 and toast for 12 hours> no problems

  • Lightroom 4.1 (3, 4 or any version) causes computer to blue screen and crash

Recently bought the new Lightroom 4.1 in an attempt to fix this issue, which had been occuring off and on for some time.  I have major difficulties with importing and/or rendering previews or editing Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 5D Mark III images using Lightroom.  The computer abruptly blue screens, then reboots.  The blue screen code is 124.  I'll attach a record of minidumps (all caused by editing or importing images using LR4.)
Not sure if that can be viewed, but please ask so I can send you the dump file for inspection if necessary.  It essentially shows the Bug Check Code as 0x00000124, caused by address ntoskrnl.exe+4b09bc.

I have an 850W PSU.  Running Windows 7 Ultimate on a 150GB SSD.
I find this very frustrating because it's a PC that I built and that can do any complex task--anything from using PS CS4 with multiple layers, playing top-end games like Crysis 2 and Diablo 3 with graphics on full.  Other than this RAW development issue, the computer is flawless and VERY fast.  Anyone have any ideas, or see a hole in the system specs?
    Cheers,
    _E

The video driver is up to date, and I would assume compliant with LR4.
My BIOS version is default, and I tried installing new BIOS updates but ran into troubles.  The Asus motherboard uses ATI Catalyst to introduce new system updates, but it fries my PC (assuredly a conflict with my nVidia card) making the rig run even slower.  In fact, using the ATI Catalyst disc (the one that came with my mobo) crashed once I had tried to install any motherboard utilities!  I've gone through the BIOS configuration and turned off all of this mobo's overclocking features and set everything to default.
No overclocking going on whatsoever--not once, and never will.
Reseated the memory and tested the memory with no negative feedback.
The PSU is relatively new and of high quality.  I replaced an old PSU because of exactly what you mentioned above.  It's a Corsair GS800 (not 850W, 800W).
I'm at the point right now where I suspect the motherboard is failing me somehow.  I only bought it because I was in a rush and would have normally opted fro a "non-overclocking-enthusiast's" board.  Perhaps there's a way of updating BIOS without utilizing the disc (the ATI Catalyst, more to the point?)
The PC is new in a sense.  I seem to recall a point where LR3 worked with fewer crashes.  I built the thing April 2011.  Just reinstalled Windows 7 and all the software again.

  • [SOLVED] Blue Screen Of Death help? Info included

    Hello everyone,
First of all, I'm new to this forum and I am probably posting this on the wrong section, sorry about that. :(
Lately I've been having a lot of Blue Screens (some were the same problem repeatedly), I've managed to solve some as I already had experience with them, for example internet connection cards and some software problems. I'm an experienced windows user and very
good with tech, so don't be afraid to post "not noob friendly" answers.
But this one I'm having quite some trouble dealing with it, I can't figure out what's the cause and I'm getting desperate because it happens often (every 2 hours, more or less, it depends), I had a virus last week but I managed to deal with it and eliminate
it, it broke my browsers and lead them to crashing every time I opened them so I removed them and I will install them in the future, hoping they will work again.
Sometimes I have blue screens while playing games or just when browsing or even when my computer is idle. Based on the computer management events, the frequency of the blue screen errors has increased a lot last week, (ranging from 1/month to 3/day).
Here are my system specs if that helps:
    Operating System
     MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
    CPU
     Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550  @ 2.83GHz

Windows didn't create a minidump for any of the errors I had so I went to computer management and I got the xml info on the latest bluescreen.

By the way, my power supply is underpowered for my current system build, I know it sounds like it's the PSU fault, but I always had this PSU and the same system for over 2 years and the Blue Screens didn't have nothing to do with it at first (STOP: DRIVER_IRQL,
etc.. that were easily fixed), and when I push my pc to some limits while playing Crysis 2 or some other graphical intensive game, it shuts down. It is
NOT a bluescreen, just a power failure, I tried with a new PSU and it didn't shut down and I actually beat Crysis 2 while using it without a single shutdown.
I've done all the recommended stuff to fix bluescreens, (Defrag, Disk Check, Full antivirus run, clean up, and so on..) but nothing has worked and I can't do specific fixes to the problem because I don't have any clues on what's causing it.
Sorry for being boring and any grammar erros you might find, and
thanks in advance guys! Oh, and if you have any questions or need any more information, just say what you need! :D

  • Windows 7 Ultimate Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)

    Hello,
I have Windows 7 Ultimate and very recently I have started experiencing this BSOD with an automatic restart.
I took a photo of the BSOD but I'm not sure how to attach it to this post. I even downloaded that Nirsoft BlueScreenView program but it doesn't show up on there. Should I change some setting?
    The message says:
    STOP: 0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF80002AC32C2, 0xFFFFFFFFFF880009A9230)
I ran the CheckDisk program and there were no errors. I ran MemTest86 (2 passes) and there were no errors with the memory. I have an NVidia GTX-295 that I downloaded drivers for and it was working fine until a couple of days ago.
I did however install my old ATi Radeon X1900XTX along with the other card and downloaded the drivers for that. It worked fine for a couple of days and then it crashed (BSOD) a couple of times. I have 2 monitors so I removed the ATi card (pulled it out) and deleted every single file related to ATi in the Program Files folder (forgot to "uninstall" the drivers before physically pulling out the card). Connected both monitors to my NVidia GPU and things were back to normal. A few days later, I got the BSOD while playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (through Steam) and then it started happening when I was just surfing the Internet. Now it happens more often and it is extremely frustrating.
I spent several thousand dollars on a BRAND NEW custom SYSTEM BUILD and I am now faced with this BSOD problem.
    PLEASE HELP ME!!
I have an ASUS P6T7 WS Supercomputer Mobo and the release version of the BIOS; have not updated it because I was told I could ruin the whole computer if I screwed something up.
Have 2 SLC SSDs (G-Skill) for my OS drive in RAID-0. This is where Windows 7 Ultimate is installed.
My mouse driver (Logitech MX20 Laser cordless) is from 2006 but I am unable to update it even through the Logitech website. Not sure why.
Every other driver is up to date (or it says 'best version currently installed').
    PLEASE HELP!!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Suzerain,
First of all, upgrade BIOS to the latest version, remove all unnecessary hardware devices from the computer and try entering Windows safe mode to test whether it is a third-party software/hardware compatibility issue. If so, please download and run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to check the reason for the issue. If the issue is caused by some incompatible driver, you might go to Device Manager, right click your hardware device in the list and select Update Driver Software; then click Search automatically for updated driver software.
If you still get the BSOD error after installing the latest driver, please understand that Windows system uses separated user mode and kernel mode memory space, stop errors are always caused by kernel portion components, such as a hardware device, third-party drivers, backup software or anti-virus services (buggy services).
The system goes to a blue screen because there is some exceptions happened in the kernel (either the device driver errors or the service errors), and Windows implements this mechanism: When it detects some errors occur in the kernel, it will kill the box in case some more severe damage happens. Then we get a blue screen or the system reboots (it depends on what the system settings are).
To troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. A suggestion would be to contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged call.
To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERS
If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for regional support phone numbers.
I hope the problem will be resolved soon. Thanks!
    Andy

possible ram issue, try to swap ram sticks first.
if it doesn't work, re-seat or seat one of the ram sticks ( remove another one ) and try.
i think it'll fix your bsod.

  • Premiere Pro CC Blue Screen Crash on Export or Playback

I just  bought a new hard drive, reformatted, and thought maybe this time I'll evaluate Creative Cloud because I've been wanting to purchase but have been holding back.
I signed up for the trial and installed Premiere Pro CC.
Well the application gives me a blue screen of death and hard reboot every time after either a few minutes of project playback/scrubbing or a few seconds after rendering. Same blue screen if I just open Media Encoder and try to export a Premiere sequence from there. No crashing with Photoshop CC, even when manipulating 3D Extrusion layers.
I contacted chat support and they said this avenue is my only option for support because I haven't bought yet. Well I have a hard time buying something I know doesn't work from the beginning...
    My setup:
Freshly installed Windows 7x64 SP1 w/updates and latest drivers.
    Nvidia GTX 770 2GB w/ latest nvidia driver 334.89
    Intel Core-i7 970, 12GB DDR3, all stock timing, no O/C.
Passes all stress test and diagnostic test, no hardware faults found.
I suspect this is CUDA / MCP related issue. Maybe the GTX 770 and/or drivers 334.89 are not compatible.

  • Premiere CC (2014) Blue Screen Restart During Export

I have been having an issue where my PC will enter a blue screen and restart when exporting a video in the newest version of Premiere. I tried creating a smaller sequence, rather than the 15 minute export I was doing, and the same BSOD appeared during the export. I am exporting to h.264 and I have tried changing the GPU acceleration to software only. I ran checks on my hardware and nothing came up. Games are running fine, I even was able to export a video in AVID... I don't know what it could be and I even tried re-installing Premiere.

Do you have a utility to check your computer temperatures?
You MAY have a hardware problem, since video editing puts a LOT of stress on all components... below is not exactly the same, but worth reading

  • CS4 Blue Screen Crash on opening

The program opens normally and after 3-5 seconds I get a blue screen crash. Just before the crash, photoshop displays a message about a problem with the display driver and GPU.  I am unable to read the entire message before the system crashes.  I re-installed the video driver and CS4 but the problem persists.
This is a recent phenomena (two days ago). The program operated normally with the current OS/software/hardware configuration for over a year.
    Windows 7, SP1 (64-bit)
    Intel Core2 Q9550 @ 2.83gzh, 8gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti video card (updated driver)

A blue screen means that you have defective hardware, or a low level driver bug.
Applications cannot cause a bluescreen by themselves.
This could be caused by the driver, or it could be that your GPU is going bad.
Did you update the driver from NVidia's website?

  • MacPro randomly shuts down after upgrading to GTX 660

So I've had the EVGA GTX 285 mac edition in my MacPro 3,1 for a while now and decided to upgrade to the EVGA GTX 660 because I wanted a card that would provide more power for my 3d work and allow more gaming potential when I'm not working. After the upgrade I have been experiencing random shut downs. At first I thought it was during heavy loads (from my 3d software) but yesterday a shut down occured when I was just typing up an email with hardly anything running in the background. I've tried to diagnose the problem but to no avail. I believe the power supply is enough because the older card uses 2 of the power ports inside the MacPro while this new card uses just one. It's not overheating because everything runs at around 30C - 50C (rarely spiking to 58C.) Anyone know what could be the cause? I am working on my Windows partition by the way.

How interesting...we've noticed the same thing on 3 different occasions as recently as this a.m.. My wife was online for school, and the screen suddenly went "almost" black. There was nothing to do but shut down and turn it back on.
In 3 years since we've had this iMac, and running on 10.4, we never had this problem, so we're also hoping the community out there has some input on this issue.
    Thanks!
