GTX 8800 OC Continuous beep

Hi all.
My drama's this time seems to be a problem with my primary Card.  At random times, and often the PC freezes, screen goes blank but not necessarily black and card emits a continuous beep till I reset.  It also happens at startup time as windows is trying to load, but does not seem to happen if I boot to Safe mode.  I'm also now having issues with how to rebuild my array after a single disc error.  I have raid 0+1 on 4 discs by the way.
I am using Nvidia driver 176 after I rolled back from the latest just to see if it made a difference, it didn't.
It's a worry.
Any idea's?
Cheers
Rod

I was hoping that wouldn't be the first answer.  Here's my problem there.  I am running a liquid system and both cards are attached to each other by a solid link, I thought to disable the second card by pulling it's power leads but it protested so bad I had 2 cards beeping in harmony.  I have already tried disabling SLI.  I just checked PCI-E voltage via Dual Core Centre (which as a rule I don't run), I lowered voltage to 1.80, it was at 1.85 (not my setting).
If I have to pull the plug out of my system to remove a card I'm looking at major surgery.  Is there any other way?
I have run memory checks on all sticks and they are fine.
Could the PSU be to blame?  It is only a 600W after all and I am running a lot from it according to overclockulator.
I really value your opinion and if removing and testing the cards one by one might lead to an answer then so be it.
Raid fixed itself by the way, just needed time and no input from me
Cheers mate

  • Continuous Beeping noise on Startup and at other times

My iMac is over a year old. I have no idea what is wrong or happening here but below is what happens.
I hear a continuous beeping noise from my iMac at times. I had Firefox open and when it started beeping, a little search bar opened up at the bottom left of the browser so I assumed it was a sticky key on the keyboard so I pressed the spacebar and the beeping stopped and the search bar disappeared. This happened a few more times while I was using the browser.
The other day I started up my iMac and before it opened to the desktop it showed a small iMac HD icon so I clicked it and it started up normally, but then the beeping started so I just hit the spacebar and it stopped. Now I do remember after I turned the iMac on I accidently pressed some keys on the keyboard so this maybe why it showed the HD icon but I don't really know.
Yesterday morning I turned the iMac on and came back to hear it was beeping again. It was just a fast non stop beeping, too fast to count the beeps. It had loaded into the desktop so it was all good apart from the beeping, again I pressed the spacebar and it stopped.
Yesterday afternoon I got more beeping. Beeping is not just on startup it must be something else. I was using Firefox and was trying to scroll down the page, yet it kept jumping back to the top not letting me scroll down. This happened the other day when the beeping started. Anyhow I closed the browser and the beeping starts. I was able to turn the sound down and that got rid of the beeping, turned the sound up and the beeping still there.
    I tried this so far...
unplugged keyboard and started up mac = no beeping
plugged keyboard in and started up mac = beeping
Again this morning I turned my iMac on, and beeping happened again, this time I clicked System Prefrences and the beeping stopped. I then clicked the Sys Pref folder red icon to close it and it made a different noise, but closed. I then opened up Firefox and went straight to my bookmarks to find a link, it wouldn't let me scroll down my list of bookmarks either, then the beeping started so I closed Firefox. Then I heard a loud sratchy type noise, it was much louder and hearing this has now made me think, something is not right.

  • No boot, continuous beeping

    Hi All,
My wife's macbook air (13 inch late 2010 model) no longer boots. The screen does not come on (no grey boot screen) and when powered on there is continuous beeps. ~1 second beep, 2 seconds silent, 1 second beep. It will continue to beep as long as you let it. Pressing the power button turns it back off. The fan will start to run on high if the computer is allowed to keep beeping for more than about 10 seconds.
    Any ideas? Thanks

Hardware failure; most likely bad RAM.

  • IMac continuously beeps three times when FireWire HDD is attached

    Hi there,
Whenever I reboot my iMac while my external FireWire HDD is attached to it, it continuously beeps three times in a row. I detach it, and restart the iMac, and voila, it boots again!
Any ideas why it can't boot while my FireWire HDD is attached to it? It doesn't seem to be a RAM issue as is specified here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2674?viewlocale=en_US

It could be a firmware issue with the firewire drive.
Have a look at the article in this link

  • Satellite P10-504: continuous beeps when it is turned on

My P10-504 emits continuous beeps soon after it is turned on. It will stop beeping and reboot itself but go back to the continuous beeps. The way to get it to boot is to hit F2 and go into BIOS and then exit, then it will boot up OK.
I have depressed the keys when booting up to see if it might be sticky keys, but that has no effect.
If I take the all the memory out when it boots up it beeps to tell me I have no memory. If only one bank is in the continuous beeps return.
The one then it tends to do in Windows is to automatically bring up the search tool and constantly refreshes the screen unless esc is hit.
Any ideas or other tests to do??

    Hi,
I don't know where the problem is, but maybe you should try reinstalling the BIOS.
If it doesn't help please contact the ASP in your country.

  • PB G3 333 - Continuously Beeps - Won't Start-up

As the subject says - I push the on-off button, I hear the Mac start-up sound, the hard drive starts to whir, then a continuous beeping starts. Not just 1 or 2 or 4 beeps - but a continuous beeeep, beeeep, beeep, beeep ... The screen is black and nothing else happens.. The beeping continues until I pull out the battery (no problem there) and the power supply.
I have tried removing and swapping the RAM chips - no change.
    Any ideas?

    terry,
I am unfamiliar with that symptom. Here are the POST tests for your Lombard:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58183
What is interesting is if it were in fact one of the above, you would not hear the normal startup chime.
Since I don't know what the answer is, I would try the basics:
    - disconnect any and all peripherals and remove the optical drive from the media bay;
    - reset the power manager and PRAM:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
    - if still a problem, remove the HD and see if it will start to the flashing '?'; if so, replace the optical drive and see if it will boot to a CD.

  • Can anyone help me with my Imac that won't start up and continuously beeps

When I turn on my Imac it chimes then goes to a grey screen and starts a loud continuous beeping sound. It's only 6 months old - I put new memory in when I first got it and up until now there was no problem at all. Can anyone help me get it up and running again?
    Thanks so much.

Thanks everyone for your kind advice. Reinstalled the RAM - still no difference - what I am getting is the start up chime, a grey screen, and then three loud beeps in a row then a pause then three beeps again and so on.
Tried starting up holding down D key - no joy. Any other suggestions gratefully received.
    Thanks again.

  • Dell Inspiron 15R wont turn on (continuous beeping)

Dell Inspiron 15R (5537) suddenly wouldn't want to start. When boot up, nothing seem to appear, blank screen, no logo, no text, nothing. there is a continuous beeping, it not 2 beep or 5 beep or any number of beep, it just beep continuously, never ending, until I turn off the laptop.
Did some searching around on the web, forum, and so far I attempted:
-Checked ram and hard-drive to see if it fully connect.
-Turn off computer, unplug battery and ac power, press the power button for 30 sec.
still haven't resolve the problem yet.
Next, I try to do a Pre-boot System Assessment, FN+Power. Took SEVERAL attempt to finally got it to run Pre-boot System Assessment. Hold FN + Power, hear beeping, turn it off, Hold FN + Power, hear beeping, turn it off.
Did that for about 20 times and finally got Pre-boot System Assessment instead of the beeping.

This is the result I got from it, Currently doing the remaining memory test. It taking a long time, ill have an update once that is done, it stuck on 98%.

This paper discusses troubleshooting steps for notebooks that are not turning on.  Typically it could be one of three issues,  No power (no power to the notebook), No post (the system has power but is not fully turning on), or No boot (the system has power, it is turning on, but it is not booting to the Operating system).
From your post it is obvious that the notebook has power,  but it isn't fully turning on.  I would have to say that this is a No post problem. This paper will go over further troubleshooting steps to help determine the problem.
If the notebook is not starting up or showing a blank screen:
Remove any peripheral devices that are attached to the computer.
    Peripherals include:
    Printers
    Scanners
    Media Card Readers
Mobile devices such as smart phones or tablets or portable digital assistants or MP3 players
    Digital cameras or video recorders
    USB storage devices
Remove the computer from a docking station if it is in one
Remove any CDs or DVDs in the optical drive
Remove the AC adapter from the computer and remove the AC power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove the computer's battery. For instructions on how to do this, consult the Online Owner's Manual.
Press and hold the computer power button for 15 seconds.
Insert the AC adapter plug and make sure it is seated properly.
Plug in the AC power cord to a known good working outlet.
Press the power button to see if the computer turns on.
If the computer starts, turn it off and put the battery back in.
Press the power button to see if the computer turns on.
If the computer starts, turn it off and continue replacing peripheral components until you determine
which one is causing the failure.
Please let me know if this helps out.
    TB
I did what you told me, there is power coming it, it just wont start, like i can hear the fan running, the power led is lid up, it just wont boot into anything, screen is blank and there is a continuous beeping sound, beep ... beep ... beep .. beep..  beep ... beep ... beep .. beep..  beep ... beep ... beep .. beep..  beep ... beep ... beep .. beep..  beep ... beep ... beep .. beep..  beep ... beep ... beep .. beep.. it goes on and on.
if i keep turning it on and off, if im lucky, very rarely, it boot into the OS or into Pre-boot System Assessment. Once it boot into the window OS, i attempt to do a factory reset, but as soon as it restart it fail to continue and just beep.
    any other suggestions?

  • K9vgm-v continuous beep on boot sometimes, reboot and it stops

    Hi All,
Yep it's intermittent, the computer is now about a year old and never had a problem until about a month ago when on switching on, mid way through the boot process I got a continuous beep, I could still log in to my session whilst beeping all the while. re-starting the pc resolves the problem, until next cold boot it would seem and then, not always.
It's an award phoenix bios. I have 2 x 1gb dimms installed, is the continuous beep a memory problem do you know please? Is it possible that memory problems can be intermittent?
    Thanks,
    Brownster.

  • Serious prob w/long continuous beep

Ok, first off i'm not a noob but have no clue whats wrong.  You would think an A+ tech would be able to figure this out, but hey no ones perfect.
I just got this board last week and its been absolutely perfect.  Today I decided to sleeve all my power supply wires.  Went just fine with the little tool for molex pins.  Anywho, as soon as I powered on I got a LOUD continuous beep!!  Freaked me out so I just hit the switch on back of PSU.   FigureD I had put the wires back into molex connectors backwords.  Went back and checked them all THOROUGHLY and they were fine.  Hit the swich back on in the back (didn't press power switch in front) and the CPU fan started up and there was the beep again.
So now I'm worried.  What does one long long long continuous beep mean?  Anyone had this prob?  What can I do?  Its brand new and I need my PC or I can't function!! HELP!!!!

Ive been to hell and back with configuring my 875p neo but ive never had one long continuous bleep, only missing bleeps from devices not recognised.
One long bleep or a a very fast burst of short beeps ?
I had a very fast burst of short beeps from a different mobo when I had an ide cable in the wrong way round (no raised bump in middle on cable) so the red side of the ide cable was on pin 40 and not pin1. Hang on, have I got that the right way around ?
Anyway, it sounds like a connection issue but who am I to advise an A+ tech
There are some really helpful guys on this forum and im sure you will be sorted in no time.

    Udupi,
As Dan stated, it might be an issue with your RAID. In the past, I have experienced similar beeping when there was an issue with the RAID group. Except for the LSI controller, I'm not aware of any other componentt that would continuously beep on the server during operation
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/sw/raid/configuration/guide/MegaRAID.html#wp1105151
Table 5-3 gives a translation between the beep intervals and potential issues.
If you can reboot and interogate the LSI OptionROM during POST, you may find what it is complaining about

  • Loud continuous beeping With Garageband and my MIXER.

I Just got a Peavey PV 8 USB Mixer with 2 MXL 990 Phantom powered condenser mics.
Every time I connect my Mixer and open garage band there's a long continuous beep in the backround. No matter what I do I cannot drown it out. I've disabled the Audio MIDI Set up. I've gone into my preferences and disabled the internal mic and speakers and still nothing. The strange thing is that the mixer is fine if I have GarageBand shut down. But as soon as it even gets to the new project window The beeping starts again. Someone please help me.

I had this same problem, exact same problem!
After googling for hours for an answer, I decided to just call up Peavey.
Come to find out the PV6 USB Mixer is only outputting 15v of Phantom Power. Most quality condenser mics need 48v.
I asked him why did I see on the box and read online that the PV6 USB said it had 48v phantom power.
To which he replied, "Only the Non-USB PV6 has 48v of Phantom Power."
    LAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To fix this problem you would have to buy an external Phantom Power Supply
    Like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XUUXB8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&p sc=1
    It is only $20
    Hope this helps!

  • Nothing but continuous beeping

That's all I get when I start up my computer. Continuous beeping.
    I have the KT3 Ultra2 board.
I came home and it looks as though it had been restarted. It was at the Windows XP OS selection screen (for some reason I have XP home and pro edition installed so it has this when I start up) and it was locked up. When i hit reset, it wouldn't boot up, just the continuous beeping thing. The lights come on the drives, I can open and close the CD trays, but nothing on the screen. The beeps are infinite, the same pitch, and at equal intervals.
I just got a new processor, motherboard and RAM. After switching to a new power supply, I fried my ABIT KT7A motherboard. I don't know how it happened but it stopped working.  Now I've had this motherboard for less than a week and it won't start up either.
I read some stuff ont he internet and I tried reseating the memory and video card. I've also tried switching power supplies, to no avail. I haven't been able to find out what the continuous beeping means on an AMI bios.
Anyway, if you can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Went to the store and got a new stick of DDR 2100. Made sure it was seated well and tried it in all three slots. Tried a different video card as well, no luck there.
A memory problem, though, makes sense. The little LEDs on the USB bracket show that the system gets to the memory check part (lights 1, 3 and 4 are red, light 2 is green) and stalls out. I read somewhere that if there is an error in the external cache, the system might read it as a memory error and I was advised to reset the external cache. However, I have no idea what this means or how to go about doing it. Could this be a possibility?
