Gtx260 twin frozr OC, i need recommendation from thermal pads to replace

so i have this graphic card Msi gtx260 twin frozr OC
Replace it by mistake by one of poor quality and damaged the original and wanted to know if I can help get the original or a recommendation or if there is any way to know what are the specifications of which was bringing factory installed,
the original thermal pad with green white very soft and thin (0.2 mm I think) on the component side was bringing a very fine fiber
initial temperature of approximately 113 122 new GTX260 farenheit
after 2 years of use 122 131
and now now 1 year after the change depues thermal pad, my mistake. The temperature is 140 to 149 farenheit
these are the specifications that use thermal pad. -
Thermal Conductivity: 6.0 (W / m.K)
Hardness: 35 (shore 00)
Density: 3.20 (g/cm3)
Dielectric Strength:> 14 (kV / mm)
Dielectric Constant: 15.0 MHz
Flammability: U.L. 94 V-0
Continuous Use Temperature: -60 ~ 200C
I live in mexico and it is difficult to achieve thermal pad.
PLEASE HELP.

Any reason you are not considering using thermal paste instead ?

  • GTX660 Twin Frozr 3 OC and resume from sleep problem

    Hi,
My 660 twin frozr performs perfectly in game/bench and standard operation but I get consistent error messages when resuming from sleep 'hybrid, S3).
Messages are : either "the graphic driver did not respond and has recovered" or a BSOD "driver verifier has detected violation" or "DPC watchdog violation"
    My system :
    -Windows 8 64bits
-MSI 660 TF3 OC at stock speed
-MB: Gigabyte H77N WiFi, BIOS F2 then F3C
    -i5 3470 at stock speed
-RAM: 2x4GB Crucial ballistic tactical low profile 12800 (XMP profile 1 at 1600MHz 1.35V), OK for hours at memtest86
-PSU: Seasonic G-360. 360W seem low power but 12V single rail is 30A and it powers my system at full load flawlessly (OCCT, game, unigine bench and so on)
    What I have tried :
-reinstall windows 8, MB drivers (chipset, WiFi...)
-updated the bios from F2 to latest (but beta) F3C
-nvidia 310.90whql, then 314.07whql (using driver fusion for cleaning)
The resume from sleep issue is still there
    Then I tried:
-the 660 TF in a old core2duo with a MSI P35neo MB and vista 32bits. It resumes with the notification "the driver did not respond and has recovered successfully. nvlddmkm..." No BSOD but got this notification each time
-then I tried the old ATI HD4670 in my new PC and the resume/sleep works like a charm.

OK, I had to make a bootable USB drive with DOS because nvflash is not 64bits compatible.
My S/N is 602-v287-050B1212022370 (checked on the box).

  • N560GTX -TI Twin Frozr II/OC need help

    Hi there,
    I have a N560GTX -TI Twin Frozr II/OC serial nr. 602-V238-220B1111137319
I did update my bios following a post found here with version 70.24.2E.00.6C (P1040-0050)
The VGA card, it has become now a bit instable during game and as you may see in attached image of GPU-Z, it shows PhysX disabled but in my Nvidia Control Panel, everything is fine and the PhysX has been selected trought GTX card.
I don't understand what is happening so it would be really great if anyone could give me the .rom file of the original bios for my VGA card in way to recover it and get back to the original parametres.

    Thanks, I've fixed it up.
I've tried to update the bios cux since a few days, the vga doesn't keep 60 fps in game when recording with fraps. Sometimes it goes to 55 and then it is hard to play. The game is NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 and up to now I could play it while recording at 60fps fix.
I use AB profile overclocked to 938 (core) and 2205 (memory) with voltage at 1.012

  • GTX 470 Twin Frozr II fan bearing failing, need to RMA but don't have receipt

Hi all, I live in the UK and one of the fans in my GTX470 TFII has started to make an annoying grinding sound which comes and goes. Seems like a dodgy bearing, apparently this is common with Twin Frozr cards. Can't seem to find a replacement fan online anywhere (model is Power Logic PLD08010S12HH I think).
Anyway so it looks like I have to RMA the card. However apparently the RMA has to be done through the reseller as I'm in the UK. This is a problem as I bought this over a year ago and don't have any receipt for it, I can't even remember where I bought it from. How would I go about RMAing this card?

over a year probably means re-teller warranty is expired so it would need to go to straight to msi.
the shop you got it from would have your details just give them name address - last 4 digits of credit card and they'll be able to find you.
    support.msi.com
or similar to start an MSI RMA
it will take time so hope you have a card to use in the mean time. I had to go back to integrated when I did my RMA. - not even able to full screen youtube.

  • Two (separate) GTX 580 Twin Frozr OC running too hot?

I just just bought two GTX 580 Twin Frozr II OC. I can't run these in SLI yet but have tested both separately in my PC. Something doesn't seem right in the temps. Both cards when using Kombustor get to 85+ degrees. I was made to believe these cards are meant to be far cooler than the reference design (box states 19C cooler!). I tested the cards separately. Ambient temp is just under 30C.
Here are my relevant PC specs:
    Intel Core i7 920 2.67GHz D0
    Thermalright Venomous X + Scythe S-FLEX 120mm 1900rpm SFF21G
    EVGA X58 Classified E760 Motherboard
    Mushkin 6GB DDR3 1600 MHz Redline (998691)
    Corsair HX-620W PSU
    Lian Li PC-A77B (+ W75BT side window)
    Scythe Kaze Master Pro 5.25"
    5x Case fans (3 in - 2 out)
    Pioneer S16J DVD DL-RW
    Western Digital Black 1TB WD1002FAEX
    Western Digital Green 1TB WD10EARS
    Asus Xonar Xense 7.1
Also, when using one of these cards, it bumps my CPU from 40C to 63C idle!
Funny thing is, my GTX 470 was actually cooler than this and that card was heavily overclocked.

While I undertand that you will get different results I still haven't read anywhere on the internet that anybody has claimed a 19c difference with these cards or anything close to it. Have you ?   If you have read it somewhere can you please post the links here.
The actual box claims it is 19C cooler than the reference cooler. See MSI's own site: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N580GTX-Twin-Frozr-II-OC.html

Increasing intake will not do you much good, you need to increase exhaust airflow somehow. Exhaust airflow should be greater than intake. A side intake blowing on VGA cards can help but any way you do it exhaust air still needs to be greater than intake air.
This is a good point. I'll be buying some 2200RPM Yate Loons soon from my water cooling set up (will be throttling them to 1200-1600RPM), I will install two of these in my case as a test to see if my temps drop. I'll then install more as intake as well and observe the difference.

    Hi guys,
Been searching everywhere but I can't find out what has changed on the MSI Twin Frozr 3GD5 V2/OC 7950 from the original (not V2). Anyone have any idea if it is just a bios revision or a slight hardware (cooler/fans) change?

  • Do I need another RMA? N560GTX Ti Twin Frozr II/OC

    Hey folks. Hi Svet.
Question: So, uh, is there something wrong with 560 GTX Ti based cards?!
I bought the card in February. It went flaky and was RMA'd in June.
    Thread here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=149374.msg1109239#msg1109239
They sent me someone elses' repaired card, or a new card, but it hasn't lasted even 5 months of near zero use! I put in the replacement, and it seemed to work fine; ran all benchmarks and tests when I first installed it. And never gave it another thought.
I haven't had much need for 3D or gaming, I certainly haven't had time to game all summer. I mostly web browse and photo edit, and for that it's working fine. I'm mostly in linux and the only OpenGL work I do is rendering/modelling in Blender. In case you don't know, consumer 3D like 3D Vision doesn't work under linux.
Fast forward to today. Some family were over, the kids wanted to play with the cool 3D glasses, so I fire up Win7x64 and an OLD game (TOB: HL2 & Portal) and it looks horrible!
The white "fire flies" are everywhere, it looks kind of like a sports stadium filled with camera flashes going off. The textures are not only tearing, but the colors are freaky (mostly primary colors - white, magenta, blue) and tons of flickering. The textures are flickering individually. 3D or non-3D it's the same. You can still play, but of course you can't see. And eventually, it locks, and you have to reboot.
Trying to run Kombustor at just 1280x720 results in garbled video and finally the app crashes or hangs. The "furry" text is all interconnected, like there's extra faces or something.
The card has never been overclocked (beyond factory OC)... 880/1760/2100 MHz. Re: temps, in 2D it's always around 34C (and it never gets over 54C before crashing.)
The system is stable and runs just fine, until you throw something graphically-intensive at it, like gaming. Then the card goes boom.
This is with the 285.62 driver, I've also tried the 280.26 from the MSI site with the same results.
I'm pretty sure this is a hardware issue, the reason I'm posting before RMAing is, what should I do here? I do NOT want to RMA this thing just to have it die again. I want a stable system, period. The card should last indefinitely, at least until it's so old no one would bother using it! And with solid caps replacing that first-to-fail point of electrolytics, this should be easily attainable! I know MSI won't ever say if there's a design flaw with the chip nor the card, but you guys are another story. Could I, for example, get an RMA unit and then flash it so it will be a slower, ordinary 560GTX? Obviously I could, what I mean is, would this make the card survive longer? I'll take stable over speed any day of the week.
As you can imagine, I'm frustrated. And POOR, which makes matters worse - I can't swap it out even if I wanted to.
Well, thanks for reading. Any help appreciated.

    Hi pacnow,
Re flash the card which comes with 823MHz with BIOS attached below.
    How to:
    Create a USB key bootable
How to make USB key bootable: http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm
Then get attached file, and extract & copy all files nvflash.exe, CWSDPMI.EXE and 103.rom
    to the USB key.
Then reboot the computer and boot from the bootable USB key,
when you see A:\ or C:\ type:
    nvflash.exe -b old.rom [ENTER]
Wait process to finish, this will backup/save your current VBIOS.
Then flash the new VBIOS with:
    nvflash.exe -4 -5 -6 103.rom [ENTER]
Wait process to finish, then reboot the machine and you're done

  • [Tech Help Needed] GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC Fan Stops Working

    Hello everyone.
It's extremely rare for me to have computer issues, but this time it happened.
MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC, and here's the issue:
Whenever i turn on the computer the gpu fans spin for around 5seconds and after that they stop, for now they seem fine since i'm usually idling for the 1st 30minutes or so, but when i start playing games the gpu temperatures skyrocket to around 60-70 idling  in-game and the fans just won't start working, yes the the psu cables are connected to the gpu, bla bla ( duh ). i've had the gpu for around 2years and it worked fine but all of a "sudden" the fans just seem to not work and it starts getting very high temperatures, i've read someone complaining about the same issue and he was told to replace his gpu bios with some uefi bios and he said that the uefi update solved his fan issues which were the same as mine.
Now my problem is, i've never done that "Bios Flashing" and things like that and i don't know if my Board is compatible. If it worked for that person then it should work for me since the symptoms are literally the same. I've tried uninstalling the gpu drivers completely and installed again, the issue still persists.
If it's of any reference i own the following setup:
MB : ROG Asus Crosshair IV Formula
CPU : AMD Phenom II X6 1090T BE
GPU : MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC
    RAM : 2x4GB G.Skill Ripjaw X 1600Mhz
PSU: Corsair GS 700 Gaming Series ( yes its more than enough and good enough )
I've literally had no problems whatsoever with my system for a few years now, and just like that the fans don't want to work, i can play games and what not, but at around 70ºC with no fans running ..... i've tried using MSI Afterburner to boost the fan speed, the fan speed setting gets set but the rpm stays at 0. i also made it to run on windows start and its still at 0 RPM.
Will the uefi bios solve my problem like it did to the other person with the exact same issue?
Thank you for your time spent reading, hopefully it will be solved.

Still no reply after 2 days, impressive support right there ... every other post that came after got replied ...
Anyway, if its also relevant about my issue :
    - Fans briefly spin after i press the power button to turn on my computer and stop right after around 3-5s and never spin again until i shutdown and power on again for the same brief spin.
    - If i force the fans on Afterburner to 90% or above ( 100% ) they spin and make unsupportable noise.
Also if its of any relevance :
    N660 TF 2GD5/OC
    S/N: 602 - V287 - 050B1302044857
At least provide me with the most up-to-date uefi/gop vbios or whatever that is, to see if it fixes my problem, otherwise recommend me a substitute cooling system that i can use ( a good one, not 3rd rated ) to replace the stock cooling in this because i don't have the money to get another card, and if i get one it won't be from msi for sure.
    Very dissapointed.

  • GTX 580 OC Help Needed (N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC) | SPLIT [Twin Frozr II OC]

    Hello Svet !
One month ago, I bought two N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC. One was OK, the other one had stock frequencies. Made an exchange. The third card was the same : stock frequencies, and unstable with correct OC BIOS, even with adjusting the voltage.
So, i returned the two M2D15D5/OC and got two N580GTX Twin Frozr II OC. Frequencies are OK now (core clock @822,shader clock @1645, memory clock @2138), but one card is crashing my computer when I play (I'm in SLI). But everything is OK in OCCT for example.
So I decided to check the voltages with AfterBurner.
One card is at 1,025V and the other one, the faulty one is at 1,000V.
So I tested with AfterBurner to put it at 1,025, and now, everything looks stable.
Could it be possible to have a new BIOS with the correct voltage? Because I've been following this thread since the beginning, and I understood that it can be corrected with BIOS update (by the way, I compared the 2 backuped BIOS of my cards, and they are the same... that's what I don't understand... is voltage really written in BIOS ?)
So here it is a summary of my needs :
        core voltage @ 1025
        core clock @822
        shader clock @1645
        memory clock @2138
Here are the serial numbers :

    Let me explain :
Few weeks ago, you helped me by providing me a new BIOS with new voltage (1025 mv instead of 1000). Since then, everything is working fine. I can play hours without problem   :D Thank you !
My question is, if I update my card with this new BIOS 1.04, will I loose the 1025 mv voltage ?
What does this new BIOS bring exactly ?
Again, thank you for help here

MSI is following my steps, it will do the same as your current installed VBIOS vcore boost from 1V to 1025mV.
If you flash the newest MSI's VBIOS it will bring you nothing more than your current custom one,
but opposite you will lost extra performance.

This will be useless and gamble, without known the exact BOMs of both cards..
Etc: big change to flash to wrong BIOS if its received by someone else with same VGA,
as there is more than one models and variants which are using different VBIOSes,
so you can easy flash to the wrong one.
So best ask MSI. [tell them the SN of your card when asking for it]

a question from Vietnam, need to help so much
    Thanks alot
    Waitting for Harm recommend

I concur with Harm's recommendation. The Quadro 1800 is obsolete: It is based on the equally-obsolete GeForce 9600 GT but with only a 192-bit memory bus instead of a 256-bit memory bus. As such, the only memory configuration that was available on the Quadro 1800 was 768MB. Unfortunately, Premiere Pro CS5 requires a minimum of 765MB of free, unused graphics memory just to even enable GPU accelerated mode at all even with the hack. But since Windows itself eats up some of that 768MB, you'd be left with less than 750MB of free, unused graphics RAM with that Quadro 1800. As a result, Premiere Pro CS5 will be stuck in software-only mode even with the hack if you have the Quadro 1800 as the primary card.

  • Per recommendation from here, I am running CAT6 from DSL modem to TimeCapsule through previously buried empty conduit. Do I need direct bury CAT6 cable or, since I have 600' plus left of indoor CAT6, can I bury indoor CAT6 in conduit?

Per recommendation from here, I am running CAT6 from DSL modem to TimeCapsule and Airport Express in separate buildings through previously buried empty conduit. Do I need direct bury CAT6 cable or, since I have 600' plus left of indoor CAT6, can I bury indoor CAT6 in conduit?

I am not sure the distance you are running.. ethernet max is 100M.. around 300 feet.
It must also be solid core not stranded.
Run a spare .. if you are only doing a single run.. put an extra run or two in the conduit.. for later!! And a string. Not that you generally have much hope of pulling another one through.. If the distance is great.. a marked access point somewhere.. in the middle.. and slope the hole down to it from both sides.. so you have a possible central drain.. because almost no matter how hard you try.. moisture gets in.

@SVet, I can do that if I get any issue. Just installed the card on a new machine and was thinking preventitive. I had heard that the N580GTX/OC had stabilitiy issues that required bios upgrades. Before I start crashing my machine, I was hoping to just go with a bios change that has worked for someone else.
It can't be used as each VGA is unique and require custom attention if issue occur.
