Guest Account cannot use wireless

I tried to create a "Guest" account for my laptop so that I can let visitor use it without worrying that they might be sneaking a peak at stuff in my account.
However, whenever the laptop wakes up (i.e the cover is opened) it searches for the available network and then wants an administrator password to be able to connect to the wireless. Is there a way to configure the account so that this isn't necessary?

I have the same problem with my T61 running windows XP.
Did you have any luck in solving it?
I'm trying to connect to a 802.11G network with WPA 2 (AES) security.
All my other computers connect fine, but my IBM laptop connects ok, but then disconnects only a few minutes later, this constantly happens.
In the router logs it just says it received the normal request to de authenticate and as the other computers work fine It has to be a problem with this Lenovo Laptop.
In the Access connections diagnostics log i see these errors:

WRT160NL - Guest Account cannot be modified

All,
I just installed my WRT160NL. I was able to set it up and also get my storage connected and working. My problem is I cannot update any credentials for the Guest account and the scary part is it is part of the admin group which means super access. How do I get around this issue - Please advise?

Follow this link to change the storage user password.
If it is still not working then I think you may need to reset the router and reconfigure it.
Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and then reconfigure it.

New account cannot use FTP service

Hello everybody,
I got the following problem:
I have set a new network account in the server.app under Mountain Lion.
This new account has no local folder but has access to dedicated group folder through the participation in certain groups. The login by SNB and AFP works perfectly. The account takes over the service access fro the group services. In the group services filesharing and FTP are activated.
Now, I activate the FTP with preferecnes to provide Groups.
BUT: when I try now to login the connection is denied and I get the error message: Server response: '530 User <account> may not use FTP.'
If I use my admin it works.
Does anyone can help me out of this ?

Do you have restrictions enabled? Settings>General>Restrictions>On? If you have it set to on, you may have disabled making changes to mail accounts in which case you would not be able to add another email account.
If that isn't the case, try the basics ...

Why does one of our iPhone5's revert to the guest account on our wireless router?

My wife and I have identical iPhone5's. At home we connect wirelessly to our Ethernet network through a Cisco E2000 wirelous gigabit router.
We set the default in Settings/Wi-Fi to the main (secure) path into our router, which also offers a guest path requring password entry.
My phone remains in that mode. Hers "loses" that info and defaults to the guest path. We can still re-select the main path manually but it is a PITA to have to do this all the time.
How do I get the main path to remain the default?

The iPhone wouldn't be reverting to the Guest network if the iPhone had not previously joined the Guest network at some point, which had to be done manually. Has your iPhone been manually connected to the Guest network in the past?
If reverting from one to the other, connection with the primary is being lost at some point by the iPhone. A restore is probably not required. Try resetting network settings on the iPhone which will erase all saved wi-fi networks and settings from the iPhone and require re-joining every wi-fi network the iPhone has access to when returning within range of such a network. Join the main network with the iPhone and don't manually select the Guest network to join so the iPhone can't revert to the Guest network.

You will have to work that out with your IT department. Not related to the software itself, you simply don't have the proper user privileges.

WLC - guest account multiple users

Hi,
I have been looking at guest access features of the WLC and I can see the ability to specificy an account duration as a Lobby Ambassador but does the WLC support multiple logins per guest account?
I.e. I want to create a single guest account for use by 100 users. Is there any way to achieve this or would I need to create 100 individual guest user accounts?

If you have WCS available, you can import a .csv file that contains the proper information for usernames/passwords:

Example file would look like:

The other option I can think of would be to build a list of command line configurations for the WLC, and manipulate the list with your already created usernames/passwords in a text editor. The command to configure a guest user on the WLC CLI is:
config netuser add wlan userType [lifetime ] [description ]

ISE purge unused guest accounts

My customer has ISE running 1.2.0 for its guest service. Today, they ask me about a way to purge guest accounts that never were used.
I know the 1.2 user guide stand this:
You can force expired guest user accounts to purge immediately without waiting for a scheduled purge. If a guest account created using FromFirstLogin is not used (user never logs in), it does not expire and is not purged. You must manually delete it in the Sponsor portal.
My question is about release 1.3, the manual does not indicate the same thing, so I like to know if the unused accounts can be purged in some easy way, or they can be included in the regular purge process.

Guest account issues

After having fully restored my Mac HD, I played a bit with the Guest Account (following this http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20080205095429448 guide). In my previous installation I had my Guest Account configured using the above guide, but didn't back it up so had to start again the tweak. However this time I did something *ridiculously smart*: after all settings were changed through Server Admin Tools, I changed the Guest Account name to something else, which screwed it up completely. For i.e., when I try to log in it Leopard pops up an error message since it can't find the "guest folder where it's usually stored". Also, I can't log out.
My aim now is to restore the Guest Account back to how it was by default, since just disable and re-enable the account as is wouldn't do the job.
Any suggestion?

Acrobat pro X error: Cannot use this product under a guest account

We are installing acrobat pro with GP on XP systems. The install goes fine but on some users machines when they launch the program it comes back with
"Cannot use this product under a guest account". The users are admins on the system. If I uninstall acrobat pro 10 and reinstall in manually the same error happens. (note these systems had acrobat pro 9 installed, but was un-installed with the acrobat pro 10 MST)

Adobe WTF???!!! I have wasted a whole day on this problem and it's pissing me off. I'm trying to do something very simple.
I have Acrobat Standard X. I installed the software on local administrator User A and it works
I login as local administrator User B and it doesn't work, says "Cannot use this product under a guest account". Fine.
I uninstalld software as User A and reboot
I login as User B and installd the software. Software doesn't run, still says "Cannont use this product under a guest account". Why???!!! This is ridiculous. User B, is a local admin acount, it is not a "guest account". I understand that with this license I can only run the software with one account. I want to run the software with User B, why are you forcing me to run it with User A???!!!
Can someone from Adobe please give a solution to this ridiculous problem? I'm losing my patience with your products and I am considering going another route...

I installed Photoshop Elements 12 today and registered online. I tried to use Photo Editor and get a dialog box "cannot use this product under a guest account". I went to the Organizer side of the program and tied to log in under Help, but that didn't work. Please tell me how to correct this issue.

OK, we have a fix. My Administrator noticed that there was an Adobe Acrobat issue found at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/783362 that was almost identical to what I was experiencing. In that thread, the user was a member of a group called “Administrators” but was also a member of the group called "Guests". The program saw both user accounts but allocated the user to the Guests account and gave the same error “Cannot use this product under a guest account”. With that background, my Administrator tried to remove me from the Guests group. However, I have Windows 7 Home Premium as my operating system and it doesn't allow access to the Local Users and Groups Snap-in under the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). Therefore, he had to:
Open a command prompt (run CMD as Administrator)
net localgroup Guests /delete
Log off user
Log back on as user.
When he did that, I had a fully functional PSE12. So tomorrow I will begin to explore the new program and have high expectations that it will be as great as its reviews. Thanks again for all your help.
