Guest LAN and DHCP Options not passing through

Managed to get the Guest LAN up and running for wired clients and all's working well.  Users are sat behind a proxy and if I force the use of a appropriate wpad file I can get the WLC auth to happen and then push off to the proxy.
I'm trying to use option 252 in DHCP to present the WPAD url.  Only issue that happens is that while the DHCP server on the egress interface is handing out addresses to clients on the ingress interface correctly, the WLC doesn't appear to be handing through the option 252 I have set in DHCP.  I've used network monitor to see what the dhcp request process is dishing out in terms of options, and all look good if I'm not behind the WLC.
Anyone know if theres a limitation on the WLC that prevents DHCP options being passed through to the guest LAN?
TIA

When configured as a DHCP server, some of the firewalls do not support DHCP requests from a relay agent. The WLC is a relay agent for the client. The firewall configured as a DHCP server ignores these requests. Clients must be directly connected to the firewall and cannot send requests through another relay agent or router. The firewall can work as a simple DHCP server for internal hosts that are directly connected to it. This allows the firewall to maintain its table based on the MAC addresses that are directly connected and that it can see. This is why an attempt to assign addresses from a DHCP relay are not available and the packets are discarded. PIX Firewall has this limitation.

  • CK-20W Music and Voice does not pass through Car A...

    Hi...
I just bought a CK-20W from a store and install in the Car Audio shop, guess what I bought a new head unit in order to use the multimedia function through out the mobile phone Music Player.
All installation is 100% follow by the instruction.
The problem is the Music or Voice just went through the Mono Speaker, which provide with the set.
There's Beep sound in background some like 1-2 times every 5 minute through the Car Audio System.
However I went to two Car Audio Shop and both of them confirmed the installation is 100%. We also try to use MP3 direct into AuxIn of the head unit and it works fine.
So I confirmed, there's nothing wrong with the installation, or the Car Audio System.
Can somebody tell me what I did wrong or some settings might need to complete.

    Dear Jonphelps,
I really appreciated for your reply.
    a) My Phone is Nokia N80 (V5.0719.0.2) 24-05-2007 RM-92
    b) My car head unit is Pioneer DEH-P7950UB
    c) My installation option is B1
    d) My CK-20W has stereo mode, tells from low beep and indicator light flashes in the rhythm of the beeps.
When I connect MP3 direct with 3.5mm with the same cable to AuxIn of the head unit the music is fine.
When phone paired to the CK-20W and then call my phone the head unit did not mute the MP3 audio because I disconnected the car radio mute.
The beeps or buzz sound comes from all speakers in the car like in stereo mode. I try to disconnected the AuxIn cable from CK-20W no beeps or buzz sound at all, so it must be from the CK-20W.
*** What I can do for now to play MP3 out of my phone is to be able to use only the supplies speaker, which the quality of the sound is not quite good. ***
I really thank you for your kind question, I hope I'd answer all the question correctly.
Please let me know what I should do with this because in Thailand CK-20W is quite new, and I asked NOKIA Thailand they said it must be less than 50 people who's using this.
    Thank you again,

  • Guest LAN and WLAN on Controller

    Hi,
While creating new ssid, i can see the option guest lan and wlan, whats the difference? which one is preffered?
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
I remember answering this few days and also George joined the thread.. or max week back..
    Guest LAN WLAN =
1> The clients connecting to the WLAN will have a time limit on the connectivity, for example you can configure the Guest WLAN for 24 hours or something which you want..
2> I guess George pointed this in the previous thread.. Can be used for Wired Guest Users configuration as well , here is the link..
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a008070ba8f.shtml
    WLAN =
Just nothing but a SSID with security which doesnt have any time limit.
    which one is preffered? =
Its your network and what ever meets your requirements you can use that.. however both of them does its job with different features involved.
lemme know if this answered your question..

That link is addressing only iOS 7 in general, not the iPhone 4S specifically. I have already answered your question here: airdrop and airplay option not showing iPhone 4S, iOS 7.1.2. It is the same answer as what wjosten have provided in this post. Air Drop is compatible with iPhone 5 and later.

  • Cisco 4402 Guest lan and product lan DHCP assignment

I'm currently setting up a wirless lan with a Cisco 4402 Wireless Lan Controller and 1 cisco 1242AG Access points.
    All the devices include:
    Cisco catalyst 6505
    Cisco 4402
    D-Link broadband router
    Connection between them:
6505 trunking with 4402 (dot1q and trunk vlan 1 and vlan 3, but i found that all vlan on the 6506 will trunk together), wlan 1 is production lan while vlan 3 is Guest lan)
6505 vlan 3 is connecting to D-Link broadband router as a guest lan
both vlan 1 and vlan 3 have DHCP server for production PC and guest notebook respectively.
On 4402, i have two interfaces and 2 WLAN. one interface for production lan pointing DHCP server to product DHCP address and the other interface for guest lan, which pointing to guest lan DHCP server.
when a notebook connec to guest lan, it will assign an address from guest DHCP server, while connecting to production lan, a production IP will be assigned last week. But the things change w/o changing the structure, when i connect to guest lan SSID, the ip suppose assign by the Guest lan DHCP, but it failed, the notebook got ip address from production lan.
Is it trunking makes those all Vlan "mixed", and get ip from the DHCP server with faster respone time?
How can i make sure when i connect to guest lan, the ip will be assigned from Guest Lan DHCP server and vice versa?
    Many thanks!

  • Cisco 300 - VLAN DHCP packets not passing

I am seeing a problem with our Cisco 300 switches. We use these switches as access switches, with a stacked 3750-G at the core, two 2960-S at the distribution layer, and about 10 300 Series switches at the access layer (10 port and 28 ports, all PoE).
We use Voice VLAN (VLAN 14) for our Mitel phones – there is a DHCP server on the Mitel system. Phones come up, get tagged VLAN 14 (LLDP), Traffic flows (including Broadcast for DHCP etc…). The system works, and has worked for months.
One day, suddenly, I find that all the Mitel phones on a particular access switch are not working. I look on the Mitel system and the lease on DHCP has expired, and the phone is stuck on renewing its DHCP IP address. I run port mirroring on the switch for VLAN 14 to see what is happening. The phones are stuck on DHCP discover, and I see the DHCP Discover broadcast packets on the switch but nothing else, no DHCP offer packets – hence the phone stuck at boot cycle.
I then do a port mirror from another access switch (that is currently working) – I can see the broadcast packets from the Mitel phones on the broken switch, but on this switch I can also see the DHCP offer packets from the Mitel system. I run two port mirrors simultaneous from the two switches (one working, one not) and I can see that the DHCP offer packets are not coming through to the broken switch. Panic ensues – I look at the distribution layer and there is no problem what so ever.
For some strange reason, the Cisco 300 28 port has stopped passing DHCP broadcast packets on a particular VLAN, even though they are being sent. I power cycle the switch – and hey presto, DHCP offer packets are coming through, and the phones get an IP address and boot properly.
I wipe the sweat off my brow, note the issue down and carry on my daily duties.
Forward a couple of weeks later, and to today. I have another phone that is showing the same symptoms, luckily it is the only phone on this particular Cisco 300 28 port. The same issue is occurring as described above. I gather as much diagnostic information I can then reboot the switch – but still no joy. I then remember that this switch is not directly attached to the distribution layer and instead gets trunked to another Cisco 300 28 port. I give that a reboot and 5 minutes later, DHCP broadcast offers are passing and the phone boots.
I am listing this problem as not just a ‘one off’ now, and is recurring. It has happened to two of my 300 28 port switches.
    All Switches running 1.1.2.0.
No link to up time – first instance of the problem, switch was up for 14 days – second instance (another switch) uptime of 39 days
LLDP is working fine on the switches, as is Voice-VLAN (Port is tagged and broadcasts out DHCP Discover which is seen by other devices throughout network)
Nothing in the log file on the access switch
Nothing on the Dist/Core regarding STP – Spanning tree set up is fine throughout
Has anyone else experienced same? I’m hoping this is a bug that is getting fixed.
    Many Thanks
    Tim

    Hello Tim
    Brayton Hackworth had a similar post as yours, found here;
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3684179#3684179
Brayton is using the Mitel 5330 phones where the LLDP no longer fed VLAN information to the phone network. But, he reverted to use a DHCP server to provide the VLAN information.
Unfortunately, I (personally) cannot test any Mitel resources (since I don't have them) so my labs usually only consist of either 7900 series or SPA500/900 series phones.
    The best thing I can really recommend to you is to make a package of data consisting of;
    Topology which consists of;
    Modem type
    Router including IP
All devices including IP of switches
    Servers / relevant workstations
    # of attached devices and # of users on the LAN
Switch config file + show tech on a notepad
    Syslog output from the switch
    Working PCAP
    PCAP showing failure
PCAP legend showing what IP address are who (unless topology contains all IP)
Where the PCAP is taken from and method
We then can create a service request for you and pass it for review.
    -Tom

  • HT4241 Audio not passing through

I purchased my MiniDisplay port to HDMI adapter from Apple and it doesn't pass the audio through.  It doesn't make sense to me that they would sell an adapter that doesn't work like the article above describes.  Any advice?  Am I missing something?

The adaptor almost certainly works as described.  How old is your MBP?  MBPs earlier than mid-2010 do not support audio through the mini-displayport - as described in the article you reference. If your MBP is a recent one, then option click on the speaker icon on the menu bar and check under 'Output device'.

  • PXE, WDS and DHCP Option 66 and 67 PXE-M0F: Exiting

    Hello,
I have configured DHCP options 66 and 67 to point to my site server running WDS and SCCM 2012 R2 with a DP with PXE enabled.
My DHCP server is on 10.1.54.199 and my sccm server is on 10.1.184.60 whilst my client is on 10.1.141.245. I have set the options in DHCP to 10.1.184.60 and SMSBoot\x86\wdsnbp.com
When i boot my client I get
Client MAC:xxxx GUID:xxxxxClient IP: 10.1.141.245, MASK: 255.255.254.0, DHCP IP: 10.1.54.199Gateway IP: 10.1.140.1TFTP.PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
Can anyone offer any help on where to begin troubleshooting this? Previously this has all worked but the server was recently moved to a new IP address and VLAN where IP helpers are not configured. This method worked a treat for us in 2007 but for whatever
    reason not in 2012?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gerry, Yes When I added the second DP to the All DPs Distribution Point Group it then went and distributed some 70 or so packages, among these were the boot images. I just double checked and the second DP is listed in the content locations tab for both
    boot images.

    Any suggestions?
EDIT: I dont think I have imported the web server certificate on the second DP or configured IIS to use this cert for https, I am guessing that is what these error are all about? Not sure why this would effect PXE though especially as it should be getting the
content from the first DP. I will crack on sorting this cert problem tomorrow and see if it fixes the issue I am having with PXE with no IP Helper.
EDIT 2: I also changed the DHCP option 67 from SMSBoot\x86\wdsnbp.com to SMSBoot\\x86\\wdsnbp.com. It may have been the \\ in here that also helped solve my problem.

  • Anchor Guest controller and DHCP configuration

I checked the cisco documentation about the DHCP configuration but I´m not 100%sure which DHCP server address I must use.
I  used as example the scope 10.240.97.0/24 for our Guest Users. In this range are the DHCP scope and the Guest interface configured. For the management I used as example the range 10.240.96.0/24.Now I configured our Guest WLC and I insert on the Guest interface as Primary DHCP address the Guest interface address. After I applied I got the message I can´t use this DHCP address. Now I checked the cisco and found following description:
“If DHCP services are to be implemented locally on the anchor controller, populate the primary DHCP server field with the management IP address of the controller"
Means it now I must insert as the IP for the Primary DHCP Server on the Guest interface  the IP from the management
Interface and the controller will then forward the traffic to the internal DHCP scope on the Guest subnet and wil sent it back ?
( DHCP proxy is on the Guest WLC  enabled ) .
    Thanks
    Al

For Anchor you can use either internal or external dhcp server.
Means it now I must insert as the IP for the Primary DHCP Server on the Guest interface  the IP from the management
Interface and the controller will then forward the traffic to the internal DHCP scope on the Guest subnet and wil sent it back ?
Yes. WLC forwards the unicast dhcp req to management ip for guest interface. All cpu generated traffic by default uses management interface as source address i.e., snmp, radius, ping...
Is your question whether you need routing between guest and management interface.
No, routing is not required in this case bcoz the interface residing on WLC's management. Also for proxy it uses the virtual ip address for dhcp instead of actual dhcp ip. And only wireless client can get ip from WLC's internal dhcp server.
If you're using dhcp proxy on wlc and having external dhcp server on different vlan then yes you need routing between the two vlans.

  • Environment variables not passed through to player in flexunit 4.1.0-beta3

fyi, to get flexunit-4.1.0-beta3 FlexUnit4AntTasks invocation of flashplayer to not be rejected by the vncserver, i needed to modify the FlexUnitLauncher to pass through the environment variables to the command environment.
the reason this is required, i think, is the use of Runtime.exec() directly in CustomPlayerCommand -- in flexunit-4.0.0, the same function was accomplished using the ant executor, which does passthrough by default.
anyway, curious if anyone else has seen this issue, or if i'm doing something dumb.

ok. i went looking for a JIRA link somewhere around here and couldn't find it.  do you have a URL handy?
there are a couple of other things too:
you probably want trustDirectory.mkdirs() rather than mkdir() in TrustFile.java
you probably want CustomPlayerCommand.setLocalTrusted() -- my player command isn't in the machine's path, but i still want to be able to touch the trust file.  So I copied the trustFile.add() stuff from FlashPlayerCommand.launch() into CustomPlayerCommand.launch().  probably a better solution would be refactoring CustomPlayerCommand to be more like FlashPlayerCommand.
anyway, if you want patches, tell me where to put them and i'll post some.

  • Drag and drop option for hierarchy through Web Template

    Hi All,
I have 2 hierarchies in one report. For example Product Hierarchy and Customer hierarchy. I would like to have an option in query where I can select the node from each hierarchy and the report is displayed only for the selected node/nodes. I am using Web Template. I used "Hierarchy filter" web item and was able to achieve this. But I would like to have a drag and drop option.
I mean when I use Hierarchy filter web item, I have to select the particular node in the hierarchy. and then the report (Web Item - Table) is displayed based on the selection. But I would like to drag the node from the hierarchy and drop it to the report (Web Item - Table) and the report is displayed for the selected hierarchy node.
Is this possible? How? Do I have to write any Java code or we can achieve this with BI Standard functionality.
    Regards.
    Parin Gandhi.

This is not possible using Standard BI web functionality.
If you are an expert with JavaScript and BI Web APIs you can probably write JS code to do this.

  • 'Install Updates and Shutdown' option not appearing for Windows 8.1 users

Windows 8.1 users are reporting, and I have verified, that they are not being prompted to install Windows updates while shutting down, even though the updates are downloaded.  Here are the relevant Windows Update gpo's from a sample Group Policy Result
for a typical user on one of our Windows 8.1 workstations:
(Note: The "Specify intranet Microsoft update service location" is the last policy in the updates section, and the value specified there is not relevant to this question.)
These same settings when applied to Windows XP workstations used to prompt users to install updates at shutdown.  That is, the default shutdown option was "Install Updates and Shutdown".  That was a great workflow because all client workstations
were shut down every night and the user didn't have to worry about updates installing while they were using the workstation.  All client workstations are now running Windows 8.1 Pro and the only way updates are getting installed is by manually pulling
up the Windows Update dialog and initiating updates from there.  That is even worse than automatic updates that install during business hours.
    I do notice that
a notification that updates are available appears in the login screen, but one can not take action upon it from there, and most users don't know how to find the update screen once they sign in; and
once updating is begun, then the Install Updates and Shutdown option becomes a default - but by that point its rather cosmetic: that is the only option (to configure the partially installed updates during shutdown) and there is nothing
that could be done to NOT do that at that point.
Is anyone having similar issues?  As far as I can tell right now, there is no ability to actually switch the user's default option to
