guest password request for purplecat website in oakland california 192.168.33.112

I have the same errors occurring at an alarming rate. I did isolate it to the App Store. Specifically when checking for an update. I was hoping that you could test this out for me. Go to your console log and select all messages and then check kernel in the sender box (bottom left). I found that now is a good time to insert a marker. Now launch the app store then got to the update section. Select check for update.
Does this generate a series of the errors? I can reproduce the errors every time I "check for updates". The error would not show up when checking for updates in iTunes.
I did notice errors in both extending from CFNetwork
App store:
2015-01-15 8:40:38.047 AM storeassetd[356]: CFNetwork SSLHandshake failed (-9802)
iTunes
2015-01-15 8:53:53.986 AM iTunes[2200]: CFNetwork SSLHandshake failed (-9806)
Please compare and see if you get the same results.

  • How to enable password request for restart and shutdown?

    Hi,
I'm neither a Linux nor an Arch Linux newbie, but inexperienced regarding this particular issue.
I want to enable password request for restart and shutdown and want to know if I'm mistaken, because trial and error might become to time-consuming while working on a project.
    I read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Al … o_shutdown.
    $ ls -hAl /usr/bin/shutdown
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Apr 22 03:02 /usr/bin/shutdown -> systemctl
If I try to run $ shutdown -hP 28 or $ shutdown -c nothings happens, I need to run $ sudo shutdown -hP 28 and $ sudo shutdown -c and type a password. That's the way I want it.
If I e.g. run $ shutdown -r now no password is needed. I want to disable this. It should behave the same way as shutdown -hP/-c behave. I want to type
$ sudo shutdown -r now or $ sudo systemctl reboot etc. and then the password should be required.
    $ sudo grep -vn "#" /etc/sudoers | grep [[:blank:]]
    72:root ALL=(ALL) ALL
    73:rocketmouse ALL=(ALL) ALL
The user "rocketmouse" should have all permissions after typing a password, but not without typing the password.

You'll need to create a rules file which uses javascript.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Po … tion_rules
    // /etc/polkit-1/rules.d/10-admin-shutdown-reboot.rules
    polkit.addRule(function(action, subject) {

  • Where are passwords stored for Safari websites

I thought the place was the Keychain, but where else is are passwords stored?
I have jsut done a complete reset of the keychain from keychain Access, and the passwords page shows empty
Yet when I go to certain websites, I still get logged in automatically.
So where are these other passwords stored?

    HI,
The usernames and passwords are stored in the Keychain Access application but only if you have the Safari Preferences set up to do so.
With Safari open, from the Menu Bar, click Safari / Preferences and select the AutoFill tab.
Make sure Usernames and Passwords is selected.
    From the Finder Help Viewer...
When you set up a user account in Mac OS X using the Accounts preferences pane, a keychain with the same password is automatically created the first time you log in to the computer. This keychain is the default keychain. When you create passwords for servers or applications, the passwords are added to this keychain.
You may want to create an additional keychain for personal use that isn’t automatically unlocked when you log in to your user account. For example, you can create a “top secret” keychain to store notes, financial information, and any other items you want to store securely.
    To create a keychain:
Open Keychain Access, located in the Utilites folder in the Applications folder.
    Open Keychain Access
    Choose File > New Keychain.
Type a name for the keychain, and then click Create.
Type a password for the keychain, and then type it again in the Verify field.
For help choosing a good password, click the key button to the right of the Password field.

  • Using windows 7 and FF4, randomly when I open FF all of my username and password info for my websites has been removed and i have to re enter my login info. I did not have this problem with 3.6.

None of my security settings are being changed and this is not being caused by any anti spyware program. if I go back to 3.6 i do not have the problem. I have reinstalled FF4 and now, 4.0.1, thinking it might be corrected but still the problem persists and I get tired of having to reenter login information for 20 or more websites every couple of days.

I also had terrible issues with 2 Wire Gateway and my mid-2010 MacBook Pro.  We changed to WPA2 and that seems to have fixed the problem.  The AT&T tech support person, Phillipines, was extremely helpful.  She went through network settings with me.  One interesting step was going into my DNS tab (Network Preferences and then Advanced Button) and replacing my entries with these:
    68.94.156.1
    68.94.157.1
It's been several days and I've only seen a few random packet drops.  Still charging along at full signal strength.

  • Password Requests for Safari and Entourage

I've been through several forums this week trying to resolve iMac challenges. After all of those fixes were incorporated or tried, I now see dialogue boxes in Safari asking for my keychain password as well as in Entourage. Do I need to change a setting someplace, or is this just to be expected from now on?

OK; too simply stated. I did find pop.charter.net as an Internet password. I clicked on the "i" and another window with two selections appeared: Attributes//Access Control. When I select Access Control, the new window shows only one button clicked that says, "*Confirm before allowing access*." The sub-level button, saying "Ask for keychain password," is not clicked. Nor is the upper level button, saying "Allow all applications to access this item." In the lower window it says, "Always allow access by...Entourage...." What should I do about this? Do I need to change it, delete it or just punt?

  • Stop password request for Cloud? Stay off Cloud?

My IMAC with Maverick keeps asking me for Cloud Password.... how do I stop it from asking? I don't want my stuff on Cloud, how do i Prevent Cloud from saving anything?

Try going System Preferences/iCloud and check to make sure you aren't signed in. Also check Internet Accounts and if iCloud is set up there, select it and delete it.

  • HT4623 password request for  Ipad backup.

in restoring Ipad to a previous backup in Itunes, the software asks for a Password 'Enter the password to unlock your IPad backup' is the specific wording.  What password does this refer to?,Apple ID password and Ipad 4-digit code didn't work.

Sounds like this backup is encrypted (a separate password option on your iPad Summary in iTunes) and if you don't know that password you can't install it for security reasons.

  • Cable company's request for admin password?

Comcast is now offering phone service via cable modem in our area. Since I don't currently have a land line for phone and have relied on cell phone coverage for years, it seemed like a good idea to subscribe. Cable guy comes out, big new modem gets installed, and all seems well. Since I don't currently even own a phone other than a cell, he puts a splitter in the cable so both modems have service, telling me I can activate the new modem at my leisure.
So today, internet service gets interrupted and I'm directed to a Comcast homepage. Two options exist on the page: one for customers, and one for techs. So I click on the one for customers. Immediately a .dmg file begins to download. I'm a little amused that the host instantly knew that I needed a .dmg file as opposed to an .exe, but no matter. I move on and open the file. Lots of stuff goes on, and then I get the typical OSX dropdown asking for an admin password, as you would normally see when you install software. Therein lies the problem: there's nothing normal about this dropdown window. There's a little Comcast icon infused with the window, and I immediately get the impression that this install process on my hd isn't necessarily, entirely local. It seems to me that everything I'm doing at this moment is being shared with the host. And don't let me forget to add--the install process had already admonished me to disable any firewalls, which of course I didn't do.
If anyone has any experience with this and can assure me I'm just being paranoid, that would be great. I've already changed my admin password just to be safe. I just don't ever recall seeing any software specific icon associated with the OSX admin password request for an install, and being hardwired to the internet during this exercise just doesn't seem like a good idea!
    -Mark

Just a little follow up on this thing...
I continue to have problems with the original modem; for a while now I've just used an air card for an internet connection, I was so disgusted with Comcast. Ever since I had installed (or started to install) their software, my airport wouldn't work. Today I downloaded an uninstaller and ran it, and whaddya know--my airport is back. I'm running on another network as we speak. I thought I had rid my hd of everything related to this Comcast software, but apparently not so until I ran the uninstaller.
Anyway, in the process the prompt window that I referred to in my original post came back up, and I thought I'd post a pic of it so you guys see what I was talking about:
Moral of the story is take care when you are prompted to install software from an internet provider.

  • ICloud password request at start-up

During the past week or so, I've noticed a persistent request panel that appears during startup and asks for my iCloud password. I've never seen this request before. The first time it happened, it was accompanied by several other password requests for Apple related items. Now it only asks for the iCloud password. Is this a new security feature?

No, it shouldn't be doing that.  If this is happening on your Mac, go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts (your data will still be in iCloud), restart your Mac, then go back and sign back in (your data will download back to your Mac).  See if that stops the prompts for your password.

  • Password request keeps popping up in itunes

I know this question has been asked before, but how do you stop the password request for your Apple ID from popping up continuously in iTunes, even after you entered it?

Chances are that you have slightly different 'Artist' labels for those songs.
This could be as simple as 'The Rolling Stones' vs. 'Rolling Stones' or more difficult to spot due to leading or trailing blanks, such as:
' Rolling Stones' or 'Rolling Stones '.
You'll have to figure out your own specific situation.

  • Password rejected for KcSync

For some weird reason I get a password request for the computer for something called KcSync. Whichever password I've used over the years as my Mac password is never recognised and the dialogue box closes. I can't find KcSync anywhere on the Mac so can't figure out what this is all about.

Are you using dot Mac (MobileMe)?
This sounds like a "KeyChain sync" application error. I found this in an old macosx.com forum (probably related to Tiger, but the command itself still looks valid in Leopard):
After backing up important data, please proceed with the Master Keychain reset procedure. To reset the Master Keychain password, follow these instructions:
    1. Open the Terminal application. Terminal is located at /Applications/Utilites/Terminal.
    2. Type the following command:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/SecurityFoundation.framework/Versions/A/Resources/kcS ync.app/Contents/MacOS/kcSync -reset
    3. Review the text entered in the Terminal prompt to make sure it exactly matches what is listed above.
Note: You may find it easier to copy the complete command provided in Step 2 and then paste it into the Terminal application at the prompt as opposed to typing it.
    4. Press the Enter key on your keyboard to execute the command
After the command has executed completely, you should receive feedback in the Terminal similar to this: "removing /Library/Keychains/.syncinfo/login.keychain.syncinfo.plist was successful."
    5. Quit the Terminal application.
You may need to re-enable Keychain Synchronization an any synchronizing computer after taking these steps. Additionally it is possible that Keychain will prompt you to update your settings in a variety of applications. If prompted to update you settings, click the update button.
After following these steps and then ensuring .Mac Sync has been enabled in your .Mac System Preferences, you should be able to Sync normally.
    Cheers,
    Rodney

  • Hi! i have a question. When I start macbook, the guest user request me password, how the off? (Sorry for my english, i speak spanish, la pregunta en españo: al encender el macbook, el usuario invitado me solicita contraseña, como la quito?)

Hi! i have a question. When I start macbook, the guest user request me password, how the off?

  • Firefox always asks for a username/password from a proxy for any website I try to visit. "No proxy" is selected.

Firefox is installed on my work computer (v16 on windows XP). When I go to any unsecure website, I get a request for a username and password from a proxy. I don't have one, so I press "cancel." I get the following message (I put the asterisks in):
    "This Page Cannot Be Displayed
Authentication is required to access the requested web site ( *******-webproxy ). A valid user ID and password must be entered when prompted.
If you have questions, need assistance with your login information, or feel this is an error, please contact your corporate network administrator and provide the codes shown below.
    Notification codes: (1, WWW_AUTH_REQUIRED, *********-webproxy)"
The website in the address bar is: http://*******-webproxy/B0000D0000N0001F0000S0002R0004/http://www.whatever.com/
This started after it upgraded (to which version, I don't remember). I also had another version of firefox installed to my "Local Settings" directory since I can't (un)install programs on the computer. That one was working fine until I upgraded to v.15 or v.16 (or maybe 14... I don't remember), and then I started getting the warning screen for an untrusted connection whenever I went to a secure website (https), I had to confirm a security exception, etc. And even then some pages only appeared as text.
I uninstalled that version, and then installed 17b4, and I'm back to the same problem as the original firefox: unsecure websites always seem to be redirecting through a proxy, and secure ones always tell me the connection is untrusted and I have to confirm an exception. I have "No proxy" selected in the network options. I tried v16 with the same results.
I would love to be able to just go to a website and not have to confirm security exceptions or get web proxy errors.
    Internet Explorer works fine, btw.

Not sure from your example but it appears that the address doesn't have a full domain, i.e., the part between http:// and the next / is not a valid internet domain name, e.g.,
    http://sometext-webproxy/
In that case, it's probably something running on your computer, either as part of your security software, or as a Firefox add-on, or malware.
A standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If you can access sites normally, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
To also disable plugins, you can try here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Plugins category
    Any change?
