Guest Public Network behind 10.4 Server running DHCP and NAT

I am wondering if it is possible to use APE's guest networking capabilities while still using OS 10.4 server and my DHCP and NAT servers? Is there a way to set the Airport to run its own DHCP NAT and have everything routed correctly?
Or do I still need to use two separate Airports in order to have a public and private network at my home.

I figured it out. I just deiced to run a double NAT configuration

Oracle 8.1.6 can run xsql and JSP files?
    Thank you

Check out the [MIMES] section of webtogo.ora file which is located in %JDEVHOME%\lib. There is an entry which defines the handler for .xsql files (which in this case is the XSQL Servlet (oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet). Same goes for jsps. You can run this on any Java enabled web server.
The version of OAS which will provide this functionality is the soon expected 4.0.8.2

  • Question about RAC 10g on server running AIX and domain name changes

We have several 10g clusters running on IBM p-Series AIX servers, and our company is changing the domain name for our network. I am concerned that if we do not change the domain names in the TNSNAMES.ora file and also the /etc/hosts file on each server, the cluster will no longer function. We are using CRS (version 10.2.0.3) and ASM within each cluster.
Does anyone know where I can find information about changing the domain name that was set up as part of the CRS and database installs for RAC? Does anyone have experience doing this, and would be willing to share a few insights? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

You may be able to use the VIPCA utility for RAC to change or modify the public and private settings for your domain names on AIX. Also, the Oracle 10g DBCA "Database Configuration Assistant" should be of use to change your settings for your RAC environment.
Also, see here for a good IBM Redbook that covers Oracle 10g RAC on AIX platforms:

  • Simple network: Windows 7 file server & several Macs and Linux machines- SAMBA bombing out?

Hi guys, i know this is really more of a windows support question, but here goes:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit acting as a file server, turned off all the usual MS authentication stuff so Macs and Linux systems connect with password without issues..
except when i start copying certain files/file types/names to the system, it will break the network connection, then refuse any more connections, all macs and linux machines on the network are booted, from the PC however i can still access the Macs shares volumes.. (the macs still see the windows machine & pinging is still there, but if i try to connect i get 'check the name/ip address' error
im no expert, but its as if the Samba service on the windows machine gets killed and im not sure what to do to get it to re-connect other then restarting the system, but as the system is also a terminal server users always have apps/documents open and its 'never a good time' to do it..
if there was an alternate Samba to install, or a buffer patch, or even a 'goto this service, stop and restart' etc.
Trying to get help from the 'windows' community comes down to 'well your on a mac what do expect etc etc' *sigh*
    any help is appreciated
    Richard

Hi, just thought id update my finding regarding this, and it maybe directly affected by my only system, but in case anyone else has this issue?
I thought it may be due to the file name thats causing the lockups, but I found while trying to backup my collection of install images and updates that sure enough a simple named file 'osx10.6.3.DMG' going to the server, 850MB in it stalls and fails, now im not able to connect.
but form the PC, without changing the name or location etc, i copied the SAME from the Macs hard drive through to the windows system, all 5.7GB.
so it is something to do with my windows 7 system, but maybe more related to the size of the file then the name or non-standard characters as first thought.
as suggested by Grant above i will check on the server boards as well.
    thanks

  • HP7555 networked to Windows 2003 server goes offline and stays that way

Printer sitting on my network via ethernet connection working OK for almost two years with same configuration.  Problem just started happening.
Verified IP address and and was able to ping device.  Poked around with printer settings and server settings with no luck.  Restored server back 20 days and rebooted with the restored system just to see if something changed... problem still occurs.
Have other printers on same server with no problems.
If you send a test page to it, it will sit there with its offline status.  If you power off/on the printer the page will eventually print despite offline status but windows still says the page is in the queue.  Eventually the spool count drops back.  makes no sense to me.

  • How can I use Guest network when my internal server provides the DNS?

How can I use guest network when my internal server provides the DNS? The help article TS4505 tells me to enter an external DNS server, but I believe I can not configure my network that way...

Apple assumes that you will be connecting the Time Capsule to a simple modem....and.....that the Time Capsule is configured as a router to provide DHCP and NAT services for the network.
The Guest Network cannot be enabled correctly unless the Time Capsule is in charge of DHCP and NAT services on the network.
Another way of saying the same thing is that the Guest Network will not operate correctly if the  Time Capsule is configured in Bridge Mode or DHCP Only.

  • Internal Corporate wireless and guest wireless network

I need some technical information on hwo the wireless guest network is created on the Airport Extreme. We currently do not permit personal wireless devices to connect to our internal wireless network in order to protect out data. Several times users have presented us with justifiable business requests to have access to the wireless network from their own devices. We've been looking at using the Airport Extreme in order to do this, but we are bound by PCI (Payment Card Industry) requirements to keep our customer credit card data secure. PCI regulations do not consider VLAN a secure way of keeping the data isolated. Does anyone have any technical information on how the device creates the guest wireless network ?
Two or three of these on each floor would fit our need for such access and keep out customer data secure.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the discussion area!
+PCI regulations do not consider VLAN a secure way of keeping the data isolated. Does anyone have any technical information on how the device creates the guest wireless network ?+
I spoke to Apple Support some time ago and was told that Apple uses VLAN to create the Guest network, and also that formal documentation was not available on this topic. I was referred to the AirPort Extreme Specifications for available information.
This was some time ago, so if you need more up to date info, you might want to try to contact Apple to see if they are willing to share more information about this feature. Although, since VLAN is used, your question may already be answered.
FWIW, to use the Guest Network feature in a home situation, the AirPort Extreme must be set up as the main router controlling DHCP and NAT on the network. If you were thinking of installing the AirPort Extreme behind another router, the Guest Network feature would not be available in this type of configuration.

Trying to get iMac to print to the shared printer on home Linux Server running Samba and CUPS 1.2.10.
The printer shows up as a shared printer, however, in looking in my logs, I see that the destination packets are being sent to ip 255.255.255.255, instead of the Linux Server.
I have also tried to configure as IPP Printer, but that produced the same result.
    Thanks ::

Can you give us more detail, like printer model, what protocol(s) you've tried and what entries you put in Printer Setup Add dialog? While you're at it, how have you enabled printer sharing on the linux box?
IPP would be the preferred protocol. When you Add in OS X Printer Setup, you'll need the IP address as well as the printer "queue name" from linux.

  • Internal DNS server and NAT routing issue.

Hi -- I am not terribly experienced with DNS and I am running into an issue that I can't seem to resolve. My company.com DNS information is hosted by an outside ISP for email, web, etc... but I have configured an A record there to point to the public IP to my mac os x server (server.company.com).
We have a cisco router configured with one to one NAT from the public IP to the internal IP for our server in a 192.168.15.x subnet. The same router is running DHCP and and NAT on that subnet under a different public IP provided by our ISP.
Our server is running DNS with recursion and has a "company.private" zone set up for internal services and machine names. Thus, the server is accessible via "server.company.com" from the outside and "server.company.private" from the private LAN.
The problem is that I would like to be able to access some services simply via "server.company.com" both inside and outside the private network. Now, accessing the "server.company.com" services from the private lan does not work because the name resolves to the external IP and the external IP cannot be used internally due to NAT.
Is there a way to configure my internal DNS server to respond with the appropriate private address when receiving a query only to "server.company.com" and forward requests on for anything else on "company.com"?
I know that I could manually duplicate all entries for our domain from my ISP and host the same entries for internal clients, but it would be much easier to only have our server handle requests for itself. The server is running OS X Server 10.4.11.
    Thanks

Is there a way to configure my internal DNS server to respond with the appropriate private address when receiving a query only to "server.company.com" and forward requests on for anything else on "company.com"?
Ordinarily, no. Once your server thinks it is responsible for a zone (e.g. company.com) then it will answer all queries for that domain and never pass them upstream. Therefore you'd have to replicate all the zone data, including all the public records, and maintain them both.
The one possible exception to this (I haven't tried) is to create a zone for server.company.com that has your internal address. In theory (like I said, I haven't tried this), the server should respond to 'server.company.com' lookups with its own zone data and defer all other lookups (including other company.com names since they're not in a zone it controls). Might be worth trying.

  • Server 2012 R2 RRAS NAT VPN connectivity issues

    Hello all,
I'm having trouble making IKEv2 connections to my VPN server from the Internet after changing my home lab network infrastructure to use Server 2012 R2 RRAS NAT routing. Despite all of the appearances of a proper configuration, it appears that NAT-T is not
    working properly.
Let me preface my questions/issues with some critical infrastructure disclosures/explanations to help troubleshoot this issue:
    1. This is a home lab environment with no impact to corporate production systems in any way. All information garnered from help in this session is understood to be as-is.
    2. The entire environment is on Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V. I’ve configured trunking on all of the layer 2 (Cisco Catalyst switch) etherchannels, and I’ve configured trunking on the Hyper-V vSwitches. I have no issue with internal routing or NAT or with attaching
to VPN from an internal VLAN, which indicates that routing (Layer 3) is not at issue here since everything goes where it should.
    3. The NAT server and the VPN server are two separate Windows Server 2012 R2 Std. Hyper-V VMs. The NAT server has 1 NAT uplink to/from my ISP and 5 router interfaces (NICs with no gateways specified). I have a static IP, so it’s not an IP changing anywhere.
I have all of the port forwarding on the public NAT interface configured properly. Email, web, and application access work fine from out-to-in. The VPN server has 2 NICs: one on a VPN VLAN and the other on an internal VLAN.
    4. I ran Netmon from my corporate office and saw that IKEv2 traffic to my host over UDP 500 was successful (I got a response back), but the connection to UDP 4500 was attempted 3 times and then fails. Since UDP 4500 is the NAT-T port, I’m thinking this is
where the fault is occurring. I also ran Netmon from the NAT router itself and found that traffic was flowing from the Internet to the VPN server up the stack to Layer 3.
    5. As a test, I turned off Windows firewall on both the VPN server and the NAT server. This made no difference, so firewall is not at play here.
    6. My certificates are configured properly with my external VPN address and appropriate SANs pointing to the public IP address. These same certificates worked without issue prior to the migration to Server 2012 R2 RRAS as my NAT router.
The actual error I'm receiving is Error 809 which indicates a problem with the connectivity to the VPN server, presumably through the NAT router. Prior to the change to virtual routing, I was using a Linksys E3000 with L2TP/PPTP passthrough enabled and had
no issues connecting to my VPN server remotely.
Some questions I have specifically regarding Server 2012 R2 RRAS and NAT:
    1. Is NAT-T "turned on" by default? Are there any settings required through netsh or elsewhere that I might have overlooked to enable NAT Traversal?
    2. How can I test if NAT-T is working outside of VPN testing?
    3. Is it Microsoft's recommendation/requirement that VPN and NAT be collocated on the same server? I noticed in the NAT forwarding rules that the pre-defined L2TP forwarder says "L2TP on this server." Does that indicate that L2TP can't pass beyond
that server? What are the security implications for running VPN from the router?
Any help would be appreciated. I've been troubleshooting this issue for 2 weeks and cannot seem to find any documentation or help on this issue. I'm hoping if others have similar issues, this post will help point them in the right direction. I have netmon
captures to assist with troubleshooting if it comes to that. I'm certain this is NAT-T at this point, but I just can't prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt, and I have customers who have asked about using Microsoft RRAS for routing. I can't, in good conscience,
recommend it if NAT-T is problematic since most companies want some sort of VPN solution for their environment.
    Respectfully yours,
    Ron Arestia

  • Setup Modem/Router and AirPort Extreme running DHCP, NAT

I have a basic modem/router from my ISP which didn't always work very well, so upon suggestion instead of upgrading to a new one I purchased an airport express to use with the modem, since we mostly use apple devices at home.
The idea is to use the old modem/router strictly as a modem and use AirPort Express for everything else (routing & access point).
However I need some technical info to set this up, since I not very familiar with networking.
This is what I understand: In my old modem/router, I need to turn off wireless (it will be connected to the airport via Ethernet cable) and DHCP and NAT (if I can figure this out) as well as the firewall. After that, I should connect the airport to create a new wifi network and have it run DHCP & NAT (which will also provide firewall services)
    Does this sound right?
Also, the Airport product page mentions that it can also run/provide the following: PPPoE, VPN Passthrough (IPSec, PPTP, and L2TP), DNS Proxy, SNMP, IPv6. Sorry if it sounds ignorant, but do I need to bother with any of this? Specifically PPPoE, which sounds like a modem function.
Again, since we're talking about a crappy modem here, the idea is to let the Airport do most of the work, and leave the least up to it.
    Thanks in advance.

I found the answer in an Amazon review:
    1. Auto-Configure the modem with your ISP by directly connecting the modem to your computer. Follow the instructions given in the booklet/user manual/ISP letter to enter the PPPoE username & password.
    2. After configuration is complete, confirm that you are connected to the internet.
    3. Click 'Advanced Setup' on the Main Menu.
    4. Turn off DHCP Server on the 'DHCP Settings' page. Click Apply.
    5. Go to 'WAN IP Address' page and click Yes on the warning. Select RFC 1483 Transparent Bridging. Click Apply.
    6. The Internet light on the modem will turn off and always remain off in bridged mode.
    7. Remove cable from computer and plug into WAN port of your Router.
    8. In your router settings enter the PPPoE username & password. Follow instructions in your router's user manual to enable DHCP on your router.
You should now be connected to the Internet using your modem & router in bridged mode.

    Sconan,
Yes theres several issues you're facing that we solved.
Here's what you need to check
    1) Are you using a 64bit system?  Netsuite ODBC doesnt work with 64bit.
    2) BOXI and Netsuite OpenSSL driver conflict and wont work on the same box.  You MUST seperate the systems.  We have one server running SQL and the ETL, and then a second server running BOXI.  THIS IS WHY CMS WONT START.  THERE'S NO WAY AROUND THIS.
    3) We went through the same steps your describing several times and pretty much pulled our hairs out before we figured it out...because we also were getting valid connections through CR and excel querys.
What were facing now is that we cant get SSIS to bring over the correct table size values.  Everything is comming over as text with 0 lenghts.

  • Network configuration: fully manual vs. DHCP with manual IP

Are there any OS X Server services (e.g. AFP, DHCP, DNS, OD, LDAP) that specifically require a server's network settings to be manually configured, or can they all get my with just manual IP and the rest of the configuration supplied by DHCP?

Oddly enough, I set up a server with DHCP and manual IP and added its IP to a DHCP subnet. But it was also the DHCP server. It did not accept the DHCP-delivered configuration (e.g. it couldn't find the router).
Is it the case that a DHCP server cannot serve itself with network config information?

when i use 10.8 mail application to  setup pop mail account it does not connecting . But  i used the same account to connect imap it connect on 10.8 machine.
the same mail account connect to another 10.7 machine  with POP and IMAP for testing reason , it works with out any issues
POP server is running and this email account's users profile enable POP and IMAP mail settings.
    thanks in advance.

Try checking the Authentication Type for the POP account.  It is located in Mail > Preferences > Accounts > selected account > Advanced
10.8 tends to use Apple Token.  I think you will need to use a type of MD5 Challenge-Response or Password.
