Guest Sign In

Can anyone tell me how to have a "Guest Book" on my site where people can sign in and say hello?
thanks,

    Hello,
Is there a separte sign in available for a guest to sign into my home network?

    Try the following:
    - Refer to the following Apple Article on how to connect Macs to third-party routers using WEP: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106424
    - Reset your Belkin router back to it's factory defaults and trying setting it up again. Most third-party routers have a reset switch on the back of the unit. You should check with your Belkin's Owner's Manual on the exact procedure.

  • Lion Disabled Guest Sign In

I have Undercover (Mac Tracking S/W) on my MBP. If my Mac is lost or stolen, I can locate it if someone logs on.
Previous to Lion I have my login that requires a password and a guest login.
Lion has disabled my guest login. After playing around I discovered that if I have filevault on, Lion will disable my guest account.
If I turn filevaut off I can enable the guest login, but I lose my encryption.
Does anyone know if there is a remmedy?

Same problem here. I'm running Prey (http://preyproject.com/) and it needs someone to have the computer on for like 10 minutes.
I solved this, previously, by having the guest account in Snow Leopard.
But since I also like disk encyption (I use my pc for my work too with confidential info) I like filevault on in Lion.
I disabled the old filevault of Snow Leopard (which I should not have done for scenario 1 thinking afterwards):
    Scenario 1:
Thief gets hold of my macbook while it's in suspend. Opens it, I want him to be able to login as guest so I can trace him. He should be unable to get into my personal account stuff. If he reboots he should not be able to
    do anything.
I was able to do this as following (although I'd rather just have that guest account)
      1. Add a firmware password http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1352
      2. Enable Filevault
      3. Add the login-box tekst in Privacy and Protection > General > Show message
      4. Create a user with parential control called Guest, and have the password be Guest. Also give this as a hint .
Do not allow this user to login from filevault/reboot, but if the mac is still running he should be able to login.
      5. Have 'fast login switching' on so the thief is able to login.
      6. Don't forget to enable that sleep needs password to open again .
    Scenario 2:
Thief gets hold of my macbook while I've switched it off (probably my vacation or so). In that case I always present him with the correct lawtext's and my phonenumber. He should not be able to see the contents of the disk in any way.
    So:
      1. Add a firmware password http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1352
      2. Enable Filevault
      3. Add the login-box tekst in Privacy and Protection > General > Show message
Apple probably thought about both scenario's and thought: It's your data, or tracing the Mac down.. But I guess many people like both! Maybe have a sort of 'find my mac' on the boot?

  • Why can't I sign into the Support Communities on iOS unless I'm using Chrome?

I'm in Safari, on this website, and I see Welcome, Guest | Sign In in the upper left corner.  I tap Sign In, and get brought to the screen where I enter my ID and Password.  I enter both, and get right back to the Home page, but I am not signed in!  Nothing tells me I entered any information wrong.  What's wrong with Safari?  I am currently typing this on Chrome on my iPod touch.  When I use Safari, I can't sign in.  Any suggestions?

Okay, I had Private Browsing turned on and Cookies off (I'm still kind of learning what Cookies are).  Thanks!

  • How do you share a Guest's file to the owner's files - detailed instructions needed

Previously I asked how to save a file created by a Guest user into the owner's files.  Matt Clifton answered "Put files in the Users/Shared folder, they will not be deleted when guest signs out."
I can't see how to do that.  I am creating a recording on Microwave-Lite App and want to save it in my owner's files.  I don't see a Users/Shared folder in Guest
or if it is to be done in Owner I don' know how to do that.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

Open the Owner's User folder, in it should be a folder called "Public". Inside the Public folder is a folder called "Drop Box." You should be able to drop files into "Drop Box" (though you can't open the folder).

  • Mac OS10.9 Quark 9.5.4 - font leading issues

    Mac OS10.9 Quark 9.5.4
Recently upgraded OS and Quark and my documents that use the font Avenir are not displaying correctly. Fonts leading has expanded so anywhere Avenir is used, the leading changes the layout and most text boxes are overset.
    - leading is set to Auto
    - do not use a font manager, I use FontBook- checked usage and font is not missing
    - deleted Avenir, emptied font cache, restarted and issue still exists- made a new user, packaged a file, opened in new user and issue still exists
    - not just one file, issue exists in every file I made that uses Avenir in my archive- had my colleague open the same archived files on their computers and files were correct
    - had colleague send me Avenir font, deleted out of my library, reloaded font and issue still exists
    - deleted font out of my library and just used Avenir system font, issue still exists- deleted Quark and re-uploaded, issue still exists
    - re-uploaded OS, issue still exists- did a thumbnail transfer of items from old doc to a new doc, issue still exists
    - have spent over 6 hours on the phone with Quark support and have numerous messages back and forth in a job ticket, no resolution
I would not normally use Quark, but a client reuqests it. I suspect I might have a corrupted system font but I am unsure. 3 weeks behind schedule on my project and am desperate for help. Any ideas?

I just found out my E3000 was no longer compatible with making a Guest Access password.  Spent a ton of time online chatting with a Linksys/Cisco rep who told me it was not longer compatible with the newer operating systems...BUT THIS IS A LIE! My E3000 works great with Yosemite.  A couple of things you need to know.  1.  You can no longer use the Cisco Connect CD to set up a Guest PW.  It has been replaced by a handy App, that you can download from the App store:  http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=156285 2.  You can change the settings on your Wifi router directly from this app.  No need to go into the 192.168.1.1 site and configure it but if you want to, you still can do this.  On the website, there is no way to configure the GUEST settings unfortunately.... 3.  You can configure a Guess Access code and set the number of computers allowed to use it at one time on the App.  After you set the code, it will bring you off line then online again.   Make sure you log in to your WIFI network under both Guest and your WIFI network to see if works.  For some reason, it took some time for my iPhone to bring me to the Guest sign-in page, but I eventually switched the ON/Off button on the Guest Password setup and it worked.  All guests should be redirected to a CISCO SIGN-IN page where they can log in with the guest Password. 4.  I can't believe the customer reps didn't tell me immediately about this app!  I gave it 1 star as it wasn't working very well until I reset everything and started over.  Maybe that was just my incompetence.... Good luck!  My 5 yr old dual band router is still working very well!  No need to get a new one to be compatible with Yosemite!

  • Ibook layouts in iPhoto 6.0

I know that this issue has been addressed earlier, but I have not been able to find answers to this problem. We want to manipulate the layouts that exist, like move panoramic photos to the left side instead of the right, or move the four photos in the six photo layout to the bottom or to the left instead of the top right corner. How do I go about this? Is it even possible? Another question is that the book is for my wedding as a guest sign-book, and we wanted to leave some parts blank. I notice that when there is no photo, it shows up grey. Will that become white when the book is published, or will it be grey? Obviously, we don't want grey spots in our book, and if they are white, that is perfect so people can sign it. I hope this makes sense and i hope someone can help us. Thanks.

    clarity23:
What you have to do is create your own layout image in the size 8.5 x 11 inches at 300 dpi with a 3rd party editor that will handle layers. Photoshop Elements for Mac is, IMO, the best option (more bang for the buck) for that. If the theme you've chosen has a specific color background and frames around pictures then it's much more difficult. You can create a book with no photos but the different layouts. Then follow the instructions in Tutorial #6 for getting each book page into iPhoto as a separate jpg file at 200 dpi. You can then up that to 300 dpi with PSE and then cut and past the various frames, etc. into a blank page of that theme. Then select a one photo per page layout and add your own page.
It can be difficult if, as I said, you're trying to use some of the elements of the theme. If you want to make your own layout from scratch, then it's relatively simple. Just create a blank canvas 8.5 x 11 x 300 dpi and add your photos to it. If your photos are large enough then will up to 300 when you resize them to put on the blank canvas.
When there's no Photo it will not show gray. Just pick a blank page layout or create a sign in page in a text editor, landscape oriented, do a Print to PDF/Send PDF to iPhoto and add that file to a one photo per page layout. It will look something like this rough example of a landscape text demo.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • I lost the administrator in Users

When I open my MacBook Air Mavericks, there is a Guest sign in and Others sign in. My sign in is gone. When I go to Users and Groups in Preferences there is no Administrator. I have a working Apple ID. What are the steps to add me as the Administrator of my MacBook Air?

Reinstall Mavericks if you never had an account. Or create a new account by trying this:
How to Create a New User Account if You Cannot Access Your Admin Account
Reboot the computer. At the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-S keys to start into Single-user Mode.
You will boot to a black screen with scrolling white text, release the keys and wait for it finish.
Enter the following lines at the command prompt pressing RETURN after each:
    mount -uw /
    rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
    reboot
After you reboot the computer you will be taken to the Setup Assistant. When you get to the point where you are asked to setup your new user account, create a new admin account. Be sure to name this user account something different than the admin user account that already exists on the system. When you finish the Setup Assistant, it will automatically log you into the new account.
You can transfer your files from the old account to the new one. See: Transferring files from one User Account to another. Once you have moved all your files into your new account, you can delete the old account using Accounts or Users & Groups preferences.

  • Dynamic pass parameter URL iview Portal

    Hi guys
i have url iview, this iview is assigned to a rol of anonymous user,
    http://XXXXXXXX/irj/portal/anonymous?guest_user=Guest01
the ivew set automatically and i can see when user guest sign in.
this iview have 2 parameters i need this parameter, has set values with a link, like this
    http://XXXXXXXX/irj/portal/anonymous?guest_user=Guest01&parameter1 = value1&parameter2 = Value2
    i appreciated any help
    Angel G.

    Hi Angel,
So you are trying to pass two parameters to your iView that is embedded in a portal role that is assigend to an anonymous user... is that right?
What problems are you having? Does the iView not see the parameters if passed as part of the top level URL (e.g.
    http://XXXXXXXX/irj/portal/anonymous?guest_user=Guest01&parameter1=value1&parameter2=Value2)?
Not sure if it is just a typo but you have blank spaces between your "=" signs in that URL you posted, there should be no spaces.
A bit more info and perhaps I can help more,
    Simon

I have this exact problem, when I try to sign in to icloud control panel it just hangs. I read on one of the other forums that it is something to do with the user profile on the PC and using another user id sometimes works. Interesting thing is if I use the 'Guest' sign in facility on my PC it allows me to sign on to icloud control panel. Still trying to establish what is different in the 2 user profiles?

  • Skype (for Windows 8)

    Skype (for Windows  Setup/Signup
As with every modern Windows 8 app, you acquire and install Skype from the Windows Store. This means updates are handled by the Store, but it also means you can’t install it from a disc or USB stick if you have no internet connection. After the quick installation, you click its large familiar-logoed tile on the Start screen to get going. On first run, the app asked permission to use my webcam and microphone, and then to let it run in the background. Then of course, I had to sign in to my Skype account. If you don’t have a Skype account yet, you can use the Microsoft Account you used to sign into the Windows 8 PC, and if you do, you can merge the two accounts, which I did. This adds the large number of Windows Messenger users into the fold of potential conversation partners. One limitation in this version of Skype is that it doesn’t let someone else easily sign into Skype for a quick call on your machine. The friend could create and sign into a separate Microsoft account on the Windows 8 PC, but that’s far less simple than the guest sign-in available in most other Skype clients. Interface and Using
Skype for Windows 8 sports the full-screen, touch-appropriate interface conventions you find in all good new-style Windows 8 apps. You’ll start out in the Skype Home screen, which is divided into three main zones—recent, favorites, and people. The first two are pretty obvious, displaying overviews of your recent conversations and large tiles for your favorite contacts. Touching or clicking the People section head opens a grid of small tiles for all your contacts. Unfortunately, you have to scroll through to find a particular one: at this stage, Skype for Windows 8 doesn’t support the Search charm, which for most apps lets you search whatever is searchable in the running app. Further, you can’t sort contacts into groups such as “saved phone numbers” or create custom groups of contacts. But it is easy enough to see who’s online and who’s a Favorite.    Skype does go further than many others with its Windows 8 integration by inserting itself into the People app, meaning you can start conversations—either IM, voice, or video—from within this main contacts hub of the OS. As with other well-behaved Windows 8 app, swiping up from the bottom of the screen or right clicking the mouse brings up and app bar of choices across the bottom of the screen. In Skype’s case, you get buttons for adding a contact and adding a phone number. When you’re on a contact’s profile page, the app bar lets you favorite her or him, view the profile in People, or delete them. Skype for Window 8 also lets you make calls to landlines and cell phones if you have some Skype credit in your account. Rates are very reasonable. To start making a phone call, you click the telephone receiver button next to the Skype logo on the home page, which presents a large dial keypad, along with a summary of your account balance and recent calls. The call quality at this point is very nearly landline quality, and in most cases better than cell service.

Not sure where you're getting your data, Entegy, but I have found Skype to work quite well, especially considering the cost.  It's less buggy than a lot of expensive software.
I've been collaborating using Skype for some 7 or 8 years now, often in tandem with screen-sharing software, and sometimes on calls that last all day with folks on Macs and PCs alike, even iPads.  I've transferred files with it from bytes to gigabytes
    without error.
Skype is not without a few little glitches but I count it amongst the top productivity applications I've ever used.  It has always "just worked" for me.  Perhaps it has to do with how tightly you run your ship when it comes to keeping
    your computer well-maintained.
Why would anyone consider installing Skype for Windows 8 while the Windows desktop
version is still available.  What could a person possibly hope to gain by trying to use the Metro/Modern side of Windows?
I just installed the Skype Windows desktop version 6.3.59.105 on my Windows 8 test system and it works just fine.
