Guest Snapshot/Disconnected Network Continues. NOT FIXED.
After about a gazillion patches, disable TCP chimney, change backup schedules, updated drivers, updated hotfixes...
I STILL have VM's whose nework cards become disconnected see
KB2263829 (this does not fix the issue btw)
Clearly it is related to DPM guest snapshots.

Happens about every other day.. .sometimes goes a week without any issue... Still happens though... I have followed every KB/MVP recommendation.. from disabling TCP Chimney on both hyper-v hosts, clients and DPM.. to reordering the binding order
of the NICs. No joy.
I guess PSS is the only next step (other than just forgetting snaps altogether)... That should only take a few weeks/months .. LOL Anyway.. just for information.. ITS NOT FIXED. :)

BTW - disabling TCP Chimney would do nothing. It is TCP TAsk Offloading settings that you need to pay attention to. Not Chimney.
Can you tell us what is happening at the time the VM goes offline?
Does the Hyper-V Server have a dedicated managment NIC? (a physical NIC that is the IP you use for management, no virtual networks attached, this would also be where DPM would stream from).
Also, are you using any NIC teaming drivers? If so, break the team and use non-teamed drivers is possible.
And, what is the OS of the VMs that go offline?
I am trying to better understand your symptoms.
For example, if it is a connection to a database that is being lost, most likely a process is interrupting the connection and the application is not reconnecting.

I can't believe it - network issues not fixed in Logic 8 ?
I like to have my Logic Projects stored on a network volume but couldn't do it because Logic 7 had one major network problem. If an audio file in your project is located on a network volume then you cannot edit that audio file in the Sample Editor. All the commands in the functions menu are greyed out. Now I tried that in Logic 8 and to my horror, the bug is still there.
I tried the scenario on different mounted volumes on my LAN and it is the same problem. Also creating cross-fades results in an -64 Error when trying to play back the cross-fade. Somehow the audio file (or directory path) is locked, at least as Logic sees it. The permission look ok. I set everything to read&write.
Can somebody confirm that behavior.

Strangely enough, if I use my iDisk as the network volume, then it works. At least that improved from Logic 7. But I have no idea why the local network volume still have problems.First of all, when I talk about network volumes, I talk about local network (LAN) not the internet, although you can do that to (i,e, iDisk).
Here are some of the reasons why:
* I like to have as little as possible data on the local drive(s): Projects, Apple Loops, EXS instruments/samples, plug-in data you name it.
* All the data is stored on an XRAID in RAID5 mode that provides maximum security and an Xserve running OSX server acts as the file server
* Easy central retrospect backups of the XRAID for off-stite storage (security)
* When running a multi computer setup, i.e multiple Logic machines configured as one "über-Logic" (think about big EXS libraries, Vienna Instruments, etc), all the 100s of Gigabytes of data have to be stored only once (on the RAID)
* Same storage access convenience when having a multi room stup: mixing room, production room or drop in with your laptop.
* When editing one sound (i.e. EXS instrument) , that edit is available on all the Logic machines that access that network volume.
* When swapping out a Logic machine, you don't have to deal with 100s of gigs of sounds and data stored on that machine.
Networking should be on Apple's top ten list and I'm sure it is. Everything is about networking: Network MIDI (in Audio MIDI Setup Utility), Logic Node, Cluster compression (in Compressor), Bonjour, etc ...
Logic is a professional DAW used in very professional setup. Putting Logic on an iMac to play with some dance loops is just one very limited use of it. Even the disaster version 1 of Cubase SX (5 years ago ?) allowed me to work with the song from the netwok volume.
Logic 8 still not working properly in a network environment is really embarrassing, unless someone can report that it works and I'm just missing something here. -
So my airport extreme recently had some nat/dns issue and in the airport utility displayed a warning about it and to correct it. I wasn't sure what to do so i pressed the resolve icon and now my guest network is not working.
Anytime you change networking hardware, it is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle of your networking components.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results. -

My brother's laptop, a Portuguese Classmate PC (aka "Magalhães", version MG2 -- unfortunately, I can't find the corresponding international version, but have a picture) doesn't has any network at all, be it wired or wireless, with the updates of 3/August/2011 installed. I think the problem is udev.
I have no problems when using an installation media, at least for wired network.
Even after reinstalling, I still have no network.
Wired
The problem with wired, is that the eth0 interface is gone. Have tried network and NetworkManager, and it's just gone. In the output of ifconfig I only have the loopback interface (and would have wlan0, if I had the firmware for the wireless card installed).
Wired problem solved! Sorry, I actually searched the Internet for a solution and couldn't find anything useful, and only now noticed there's already a thread here about it. I should have searched this forum, instead of the Internet... sorry!
Wireless
Previously, I only had to install the rtl8192se chipset drivers from AUR.
But now, with the latest updates, the kernel [size=1](or the udev, I don't know which it is)[/size]was constantly giving me errors through tty, regarding to wifi. It could scan for networks, but not connect. I have tried with WPA and no security, result was the same.

Primary network does not work, guest network does work
I updated the firmware on the Time Capsule, after which we had a power outage. When the Time Capsule came back up, after a bunch of fiddling around we discovered that although the primary network cannot connect the Internet through our phone system router, the guest network works fine. The primary network does not work with the guest network turned off. Resetting the Time Capsule had no effect.
After an entire day of messing around, we went into Airport Utility, selected Internet, selected DHCP, and changed DHCP Beginning Address to match the one showing on the guest network (172.16). Now the primary network can see the Internet.

My Airport Extreme guest network is not connected to the Internet. The main network is fine. And all of it worked yesterday and before.
If everything was working before, there may have been an interuption of service on the network, so devices may be out of sequence.
Suggest that you power cycle the entire network as follows:
Power everyhing down....all devices...order is not important
Wait a few minutes
Start the modem first and let it run a few moments by itself
Start the AirPort Extreme and let it run a minute
Start other devices one at a time about a minute apart until everything is powered back up
Check the network for proper operation -
After loading Maverick iTunes will not launch. I get an error code: -45054. I am the administrator and have no groups or guests. Sharing options don't fix this. Also Fetch will not launch, I get error code: SSL error 9807. These worked perfectly before installing Maverick. Also everything that loads, all programs, take twice as long to load. I have MacKeeper and have cleaned and discarded all the garbage.
Remove "MacKeeper" as follows. First, back up all data.
"MacKeeper" is a scam with only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
If you have incompletely removed MacKeeper—for example, by dragging the application to the Trash and emptying—then you'll have to reinstall it and start over.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Click the Uninstall MacKeeper button in the dialog that appears. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Reboot.
☞ Quit MacKeeper before dragging it to the Trash.
☞ Don't empty the Trash. Let MacKeeper delete itself.
☞ Don't try to drag the MacKeeper Dock icon to the Trash. -
I am desperate!! slow choppy network speeds (not actual inability to cnnct)
I have a 13" macbook air that has the following problem: I can connect to wifi networks (including at home WPA and also tried WPA2 settings) but even though I may get proper speed at first, I soon lose that and it becomes much slower and choppy (if I open activity monitor I can see the speed going up and down like crazy...). My internet speed at home is 12mpbs set by my provider. When I perform speed tests (vis speedtest.net or downloading files from other speed test sites) on my windows PC that is also on this network I get the full download speed. However with this MAC while I initially did get the full speed, it is now down to an average of 3-5mbps and the activity monitor, again, shows choppy behavior so it will be at 8 then at zero almost and then up and down again but never near the full speed. I tried to connect to other networks and I have the same problem - once this happens it stays. I tried removing the airport connection in network preferences and adding it again it does not help.
I TALKED TO APPLE AND HAD MY COMPUTER TESTED BY THEM - they didn't find any hardware issues (they said it was fine - but it isn't) but they still replaced the airport hardware in the computer - both the chip and the antenna (which meant replacing the entire screen). I brought the computer home, ran a speed test and everything was fine. I thought GREAT but then something happened and the problem returned. What I did (which I think was unrelated) was connect via SMB to a PC at home and I tried to stream a movie file. I noticed it kept 'pausing' so I opened up activity monitor again and to my HORROR I saw the choppy wave with network speed very inconsistent going up and down like crazy... I tried connecting to my slingox using the sling web access after disconnecting from my home PC but got partial speed and lots of drops too. I tried the speed test again multiple times, nothing seems to work.
SO I don't know what to do at this point. I have 10.6.6 running. I heard something about a firmware update but I am new to mac so not sure how to even do that or what else I can do to solve this problem or what is causing it. BTW - logging in now from the guest account still does not fix the issues and they remain the same.

Thanks a lot!Have you been able to reproduce your problems on other wireless networks other than at your house? It appears you are saying that this occurs on all wireless, but I'm not sure from your comment. If it's only at home, it would appear to be a compatibility issue between your wireless access point and the Macbook Air, which isn't uncommon. Sometimes a firmware upgrade to the access point can fix it, sometimes it might require switching to a different brand of access point. It would be great if you could borrow (or buy and return) a different access point/router to test. An Apple airport would be the best to use of course. Not the easiest solution, but lets you help rule out a hardware issue with your air.
My isp provides 15mbps but my wireless devices such as my iphone, ipad, laptop usually only get 6.5-8 mbps when testing speeds to the internet. I don't expect it to be as good as the wired due to interference, signal, etc. I don't get the choppy behavior however. Firware updates from Apple will appear in the same manner as standard software updates. If there is one available for your system it should appear when you check for software updates. That being said, I believe you can also manually download them from the Apple site. -
APPLE - you have not fixed the WiFi issues
OK, I admit that wifi has improved, bit it's not fixed. WiFi still stalls on loading pages.
Yes it's faster, yes it is more reliable, but after a while, it does still stall. The same fix as before is anwork around, but it's not over yet. Not by a longshot.
My current work around is to forget the network and re-join it. I'm down to twice a day now, not every five minutes, but seeing as my laptop can connect for over a week with out re-booting, this is definitely an Ipad issue.
Come on apple, get your thumb back into the sunlight and fix it once and for all.I think a distinction between a router dropping connection a an iPAD that cannot maintain connection needs to be drawn.
I have now taken 2 iPADS 3g back with exactly the same problem as in it cannot maintain a connection to the router from a distance of less than 20ft.
I have six different items connected to my router, they are a printer, a nokia phone, 2 laptops, 1 Netbook and for a shortime an iPAD as well as my home pc
NONE of the aforementioned items save for the iPAD have had connection problems to my 14 month old router.
I can connect to my router with the laptops and netbook from my back garden without any problem, the printer remains in the same place which is quite close to the router, the Nokia phone connects anywhere I choose to connect.
The Ipad can connect to my network 20ft from the router but cannot maintain a connection with it dropping out every couple of minutes and when it is connected it is very slow in loading pages. The netbook and the laptops and nokia from the same location report a good signal and upload/download times are fine...
I have changed channels on the router, I've reset and updated the Ipad and rememberd to mess with the brightness but still I cannot maintain a connection.
My router shows that it has been connected to broadband continuously for 5 weeks except when recently rebooting it as per the notion that it would help the iPAD reconnect.
Simply put the iPAD does not perform, it is wholly unreliable where it's wi-fi is concerned and I do not think the latest patch was anything more than a tickle of the signal indicator etc....
Neither do I think that routers should be reset with it changed from wep to wpa as suggested by others. My usual pc is an iMAC5, it has no connection problems, it talks to my router without any problems as do all my other items. There is nothing radical in the hardward used in an iPAD that requires a new router or even for an established router to be reset. -
Save on Network path not possible

I download a Adobe Reader file and want to save it on a network path, but I get a error message "Data media full or data media for temp files full". I can save the file on a local partition and copy the file to the network path without problems. The network partition has enough space. With other pdf-reader, I don't have a problem.

Usually, for group policy drive mapping to work, we need to log on twice continuously to apply the settings. Otherwise, we can try to enable the follow policy setting:

Hi, Just started to play with Hyper V on win 8.1 enterprise, before this I was using VPC 2007 for (32 bit guest) and vmware (64 bit guest)
Here is the problem I have, I have windows 7 32 as a guest running till date using vpc 2007, now I am trying to use the vhd file in hyper v

Tried configuring the same vhd file in hyperv by uninstalling (addins) and removing network card configuration and shared folder

Tried converting vhd to vhdx using hyperv gui and ps command line
In the both the options when I start the vm on hyperv, the cursor just blinks
In the event log I get to see this, any solutions for this would be of great help

SathyaUninstall the VPC VMAdditions from within the VM - they are trying to do something that Hyper-V does not allow.
Hyper-V is not Virtual Server and the Virtual Server VMAdditions are not compatible with Hyper-V.
Also, you have to set the HAL to re-detect. VPC relied on a custom HAL, and if the OS in your VM is old enough, it won't automatically detect the change and will continue to use the VPC compatible HAL.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

Calling Card Problem: "Disconnected. Could not acquire credentials. The Rescue Gateway..."
Surely I cannot be the only LogMeInRescue customer experiencing the following issue with their Calling Cards failing to allow them to connect to their client computers. Ever since July of 2014, I experience this problem multiple times a week when trying to connect to client's computers who have had my Calling Card pre-installed on their computer. THE ERROR MESSAGEThe Calling Card displays the following message on the client's computer after they click on the Connect button:"Disconnected. Could not acquire credentials. The Rescue Gateway has refused the connection with the following message: Channel does not exist. It may have been recently deleted or modified." I believe the problem began on 7/16/14 when I generated a new calling card msi file (note that I have since generated new calling card msi files but the issue continues). About a month later (Aug 2014), I had experienced enough calling card issues that I began calling Logmein support for help. -This calling card issue occurs randomly and with different clients and with different Windows versions. -Once the problem occurs, the only fix is to completely uninstall my calling card from my client's computer and then re-installing the calling card using the msi file that I generated from my LogMeIn Rescue admin panel. Simply re-installing the calling card doesn't fix the problem...it must first be uninstalled and then re-installed. -The calling card can work fine on a client's computer on one day but then a day later it can fail to connect. -Some client's haven't experienced this problem at all. Some client's have experienced this problem on multiple occassions requiring that I do an uninstall/reinstall. -The issue has NEVER occurred when I first install my calling card. -I have noticed that if the calling card checks for and installs an update, the issue will often times occur. Therefore I believe it has something to do with the update that LogMeIn automatically pushes to the calling card. I instruct my clients to hit cancel if an update is available BUT oftens times they have already installed it. -I have generated new calling card msi files from my admin interface but this hasn't prevented the issue from occurring -
Glad to hear from someone else having this same problem! Supposedly there are a just a handful of us having this problem so I fear that LogMeIn developers aren't putting alot of effort into resolving this issue. I got hit first thing this morning on my first remote of the day with this assinine error message. It has happened several times in the past on this same customer's computer. It will work fine just after re-installing the calling card but then a week or so down the road it will fail again when I try to remote in. So **bleep** aggravating. So tired of eating hours every week walking customers through alternative ways of getting connected. When I say to customer, "ok, go to www.logmein123.com" and they reply "how do I do that" and I tell them to open their internet browser and all I get is dead silence....I know I'm about to eat more unbillable time! The following outlines how to stop services pertaining to Windows Update, rename system folders, register related DLL files, and then restart the previously mentioned services. This troubleshooting generally applies to all Windows Update related issues.
Stopping services pertaining to Windows Update
1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.
2. If you receive a notification from User Account Control simply click Continue.
3. At the command prompt, type the following, commands and then press ENTER after each command.
net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
net stop cryptsvc
Please do not close the Command Prompt window.
Renaming folders pertaining to Windows Update
1. At the command prompt, type the following commands, and then press Enter after each command:
2. ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 Catroot2.old
3. ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
4. Please do not close the Command Prompt window.
Registering DLL’s pertaining to Windows Update
1. Please copy and paste the following text into a new Notepad document, and save the file as WindowsUpdate.BAT
2. If saved correctly the icon will change from a Notepad file to BAT file which has two blue cogs as its icon.
