Guest User from Login Screen

Hello,
Under Snow Leopard, I was able to have a guest account show on the login screen and anyone could log into this account which would delete all data upon logout.
In have enabled the guest user in Lion and it does show up at the login screen. When the guest user is selected at the login screen it gives a notice that the computer must be restarted into safari only mode rather than loging into the guest account as before. If a regular user is already logged into the system and the guest account is selected from the fast user switching menu it logs in to the account just as it did on snow leopard.
I would like to know if there is a way to revert the login screen functionality of the guest user so that users can actually login rather than having to restart into safaro-only mode.

I erased my HD and installed Lion again. First thing I did was run all software updates. Once I got around to enabling the guest account it now functions as it should and how it did under snow lerpard.
My previous install of Lion was also a clean install on a blank drive so I don't know why it was a problem but it's working now.

Can someone tell me how to remove the Guest user account from the ogin screen and what its login iD and Password? I thought this was not suppose to have a password so as to enable in the tracking of the Mac. I do not have the tracking enabled in my iCloud account and The Guest account is disabled. Good news! Removing "other user" from login screen.

I got a brand new macbook pro days ago. All are amazing, except the annoying "other user" on the login screen. I have googled and tried every possible solution such as disabling root user, changing user's name, deleting and etc.

Migrate Guest Users from Prime Infrastructure 2.1 to ISE

I have just installed a new Prime Infrastructure Server and have discovered our list of guest user accounts from the discovered Controllers. We are implementing ISE 1.3 and would like to move all the guest user accounts from Prime to ISE without doing it manually. Is there a way to either export or pull the guest users from Prime or the WLC and import them to ISE?
I would be very interested to find out if this can be done.

How to redirect user from login page to "Set Challenge question" page

How to redirect user from login page to "Set Challenge question" page (NOT custom page) after 3 un successful password attempts?
Meaning when user types wrong password 3 times they will be redirected to set Challenge question page. If user answers the challenge question then password reset page should be appeared other wise (after remaining 3 un successeful challenge question answers) account should be locked out.

Thanks for your answer. Let me ellaborate more on the requirement here.
- Password Policy and Lost Password management are set up in the identity system
- Configure login tries allowed= 5. Verify accout is lock out after 5 unsucessful login.
This is what need to achieve.
1) If a user attempts to login 3(not 5) times using an incorrect login credential he/she should be redirected to set challenge question (security question) page.
2) Then if the user attempts (remaining) 2 times incorrect challenge answer then his/her account should be locked out.
3) If he/she answers the challenge answer correctly then he/she should be redirected to password reset page.
Is this possible?

Restricting the Oracle user from Login

I want to restrict the users from login depending on two parameters usind Database logon trigger,
i.e
1. MODULE (like SQL*Plus...)
2. USERNAME
I can get USERNAME from
select SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV','CURRENT_USER') from dual
But, select SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV','MODULE') from dual says invalid parameter.
Can anybody help me?

Priventing WLS user from login into OBIEE 11g

I have 100+ users in Weblogic. Only some users say 60 are allowed to access OBIEE 11g.
How do I prevent other users from login into OBIEE (When they have OBIEE url :) ).

You can put those 60 users in a group say OBIEE_Users and use this group in All Users Filter in WLS.
User Base DN : DC=CORP,DC=NET
All user Filter : (&(memberof=CN=OBIEE_Users,OU=BIUsers,DC=CORP,DC=NET)(cn=*)(objectclass=user))
User from name filter : (&(cn=%u)(objectclass=user))

Unable to login network user from login windom. SSH login ok.

I have a MacOS 10.6 client and ldap network users server by MacOS 10.4 Server. Trying to login via the login window I get "Logging in..." which tries forever (or until I reboot).
* SSH login works fine with network users.
* Local users can login.
* Network access is allowed by all users (Preferences->Login)
* Removing ~/Library/ from the network user doesn't work.
Logging in via SSH while the login screen is hanging I get:

I cannot create the mobile account (real username replaced here with '<username>'). This is true whether I run the command as root or as the user in question (via ssh):

Keys broken, need to enter Password? How to open onscreen keyboard from login screen?

I have a macbook (just the original white one...I want to say it's a 2008). I haven't used it in a while because my keyboard is broken. I had to have some work done on it (other than replacing the ketboard which I will do later), and when I got it back and cut it on, it came to the login screen where I need to enter my password. My password contains some of the letters on my keyboard that are broken. How do you open the on screen keyboard (where I can use my mouse to type it in) from the login screen? There's no options or anything that I can click on other than where I enter my password. Thanks in advance for any help!!!

I do not have an external keyboard...well I do, but I can't find it at the moment. So if there's any other way around it, that would be helpful

I just updated to 10.9.4 Maverick, and now I get a guest user at login. It was never there before. I'm concerned someone has tried to hack in.

Could I have been hacked?

Could be two reasons
1.Have you turned on Find My Mac? Guest user is enabled if you have as a trap for the thief.
2. Check System preferences> Users and Groups. Is there a guest user here? If so uncheck the Allow guests to log into this computer.

What profile option do i need to be set to deny user access from login on to different machine. I mean a user that logon to Machine A if he/she tries to logon to machine B. Machine A must be disconnected telling him/her that he/she had already logon to a machine before.

Windows 8 tablet touch keyboard DISAPPEARED from login screen!

I recently bough an Asus VivoTab Smart running windows 8 and everything was fine up until today when at some point the touch keyboard stopped disappearing whenever i needed to log in to the tablet! its annoying to have to find the on-screen keyboard and
i would like to have the touch keyboard back.
I have tried restarting many times and that does nothing, i have tried updating the driver but i cant as it says that it already has the driver up to date and that its running properly!
Any help is appreciated! thank you,

I don't know if this will help you but it solved a similar problem I had on my Windows 8 touch PC:
If you are able to reach the Start/app tile screen or desktop and from there "view local services" which you can find by typing "services" in the Start screen scroll down the list until you come to the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service" which
should say "Automatic (triggered)" and "Running"
From there "right-click" that service (or otherwise get into its properties), click the "Log On" Tab, click the first option under "Log on as:" (circle button "Local System account") and make sure to Check box "Allow service to interact with desktop"
For me this box somehow became unchecked when I "Refreshed" my windows 8 to solve another issue. Once I checked the box, the keyboard started to reappear at the login screen.

Missing user from login window at startup

I upgraded to Yosemite a few weeks ago and have had a problem with a user I migrated from Mavericks. The user won't show up in the login window at startup but will once I login with a different user and then logout back to the login window. How can I get my migrated user to show up in the login window at startup?
I did a clean install of Yosemite and then used Migration Assistant to move over my old user from a Mavericks install. My original plan was to import my old user's Document and other data directories and copy them over to a new user's home directory so that my data would be available but I'd clean out old application settings by not moving that as well. Due to how Migration Assistant worked and my disinterest in diving into the details to make this work, I ended up using the migrated account instead.
Here's the problem, the migrated account was using a different home directory path than I preferred ("user_migrated" rather than "user"). I modified pertinent settings in the advanced configuration form available in the Users & Groups preference pane. Everything appears to work fine, except this user does not show up in the login window when I first boot up the machine. If I login to another user, then log out, my migrated user appears and I'm able to login.
I've looked around in Users & Groups and checked settings, but I'm not seeing any difference between my migrated user's settings and other user's (who does show up in the login window) settings.
If anyone has any suggestions, please share!

Found the answer in a post from 2012:
User accounts not appearing in login window
The problem was the migrated user was not authorized to unlock the disk. This is easily fixed by opening up FileVault settings and enabling the missing users.

I just received the same login for the first time in a while.
