    Hi,
    check etc/services for sapmsSBX entry. If missing - add it (i.e. sapmsSBX      36XX/tcp - where XX is your instance no.)
    Add an extra [Enter] after last line of etc/services.

  • SAP Gui 640 for windows.. what is compilation?

    Hi Experts,
    I went to service market place to see/dowload the latest patch for gui since we are using patch 11 and the latest one is 27. When I click on the "info" line, it opens a new window with the detail description such as:
    Patch name = gui640
    patch level= 27
    compilation= 5
    My main question is what is compilation is? and the number with it 5?
    Thanks,
    I appreciate your help
    I will post points for sure!!

    Hi,
    Installations and Upgrades -> A-Z Index -> G -> SAP GUI FOR JAVA -> SAP GUI FOR JAVA 7.20 -> Installation -> Dowloads
    Once you have gone to the above path, you just have to click on the DVD number 50105790_5, you will get a pop up to Open File, Save File, here you select save and it will go to the download directory in your Mozilla.
    Once the download is complete, it will prompt you a message about the completion in the mozilla download maanger, right click on it and select Open containing folder. It will take you to the file.

  • Need help -how to use a GUI to compile a file

    hello peeps,
    I have this problem, let's get directly into it, i have a program that has GUI with a Text Area that im going to copy a text file into it (using JFileChooser FileReader and readLine() ...) so i have radio buttons like (view, compile and execute) and an OK button to get the selected option, what i want to know is how to compile the file that is in the text area, like how to get to the MS-dos console and javac to start. i hope this description is clear, and i'll be very appreciative for any help!

    thanks for your response, but its not working it keeps on throwing IOException, i tried to put a direct string into it like (Runtime.getRuntime().exec("javac MyClass.java"); and same thing happend. Am i missing something? like is there something to add before calling that line of code? i did import Runtime
    ok here is how my code looks like:
       if(compile.isSelected())
                       try
                       //name of the file im pasting into the text area
                       String filename = file.getName();

                       catch (IOException e)
                         System.out.println("error compiling program");

    Hello Veer .
    Please try to do the following  ...
    <b>ORA-01017: Invalid username/password; logon denied</b>
    Message ORA-01017 can occur both in step 1a) and in step 1b) or 2). Depending on this, the problem can be corrected as follows:
    1a) log entries:  Logon as OPS$ user to get <sapowner>'s password
                      Connecting as /@<sid> on connection 0 ...
    ERROR => OCI-call 'olog' failed: rc = 1017
    ERROR => CONNECTfailed with sql error '1017'
    If you intend to use the standard password for <sapowner> anyway, you can ignore the error message at this point, as the OPS$ mechanism is not needed at all and the connect is carried out using <sapowner>/sap successfully afterwards. Note, however, that BR*TOOLS require a working OPS$ mechanism when executing via DB13!
               Otherwise, make sure that an appropriate OPS$ user is set up. To do this, proceed as follows:
    Check whether the parameter
    os_authent_prefix = ops$
    is set correctly in init<sid>.ora. If you have to make a change, restart the database afterwards.
    On Windows, make sure that the following parameter is set in sqlnet.ora:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
    Determine which operating system user <os_user> wants to create the connection. If this involves a connect initiated out of the R/3 System (for example, work process connect, DB13 actions), user <sid>adm is used under UNIX and user sapservice<sid> under NT. If you manually called the program that executes the connect, the user you are using is decisive here.
    Use SVRMGRL to check whether the user OPS$<os_user> (or OPS$<domain>\ <os_user> for NT with Oracle >= 8.1.5) has been created at database level:
    SELECT * FROM DBA_USERS WHERE USERNAME = 'OPS$<os_user>';
    (for <os_user>, always use upper case)
    If the system does not return an entry, create the user:
    CREATE USER "OPS$<os_user>" DEFAULT TABLESPACE <user_tsp>
      TEMPORARY TABLESPACE PSAPTEMP IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
    Note that the name of the OPS$ user must be specified completely in uppercase letters (also the host and domain names in case of NT and W2K), since a logon as OPS$ user will not work if it is not:
      wrong:   CREATE USER "OPS$c11adm" DEFAULT TABLESPACE ...
              CREATE USER "OPS$sapdom\C11ADM" DEFAULT TABLESPACE ...
      correct: CREATE USER "OPS$C11ADM" DEFAULT TABLESPACE ...
               CREATE USER "OPS$SAPDOM\C11ADM" DEFAULT TABLESPACE ...
    Tablespace <user_tsp> is used when newly creating objects, when no explicit tablespace name is specified. In connection with R/3, this is almost never the case. Therefore, you can specify any tablespace. Proposal:
             R/3 <= 4.6D:  <user_tsp> = PSAPUSER1D
            R/3 >= 6.10:  <user_tsp> = PSAP<sid>USR
    Check whether the OPS$ user has sufficient authorizations. The following statement must at least return CONNECT and RESOURCE:
    SELECT GRANTED_ROLE FROM DBA_ROLE_PRIVS
      WHERE GRANTEE = 'OPS$<os_user>';
    If CONNECT and/or RESOURCE is missing, you can grant theseauthorizations as follows:
    GRANT CONNECT, RESOURCE TO "OPS$<os_user>";
    If all the settings described above have been made correctly on NT/ Windows 2000, but the error ORA-01017 is still displayed during the OPS$ Connect, the cause may be a start user set incorrectly for the SAP Service. Change to the services overview of the operating system and check the user who starts the service SAP<sid>_<instance_number>. If the user is not sapservice<sid>, enter sapservice<sid>. Other users (such as the local administrator) do not have an OPS$ user in the database, which leads to error ORA-01017. Check also whether the start user sapservice<sid> is a local user or a domain user. Domain users can be identified by the preceding domain name. Depending on this, the following OPS$ user should exist on database level:
    Domain user:    <domain>\sapservice<sid>
    OPS$ user:       OPS$<domain>\sapservice<sid>
    Local user:      sapservice<sid>
    OPS$ user:       OPS$<local_host>\sapservice<sid>
    1b) log entries:  Logon as OPS$ user to get <sapowner>'s password
                      Connecting as /@<sid> on connection 0 ...
                      Now I'm connected to ORACLE
                      Got <sapowner>'s password from table SAPUSER
                      Disconnecting from connection 0 ...
                      Now I'm disconnected from ORACLE
                      Try to connect with the password I got from OPS$-user
                      Connecting as <sapowner>/<pwd>@<sid> on connection 0
    ERROR => OCI-call 'olog' failed: rc = 1017
    ERROR => CONNECTfailed with sql error '1017'
               An ORA-01017 message at this point indicates an incorrect <sapowner> password in the SAPUSER table. In this situation, proceed as follows.
    Set the password consistently in SAPUSER and in the Oracle DDIC using the following BRCONNECT call (BRCONNECT >= 6.10):
    brconnect -u system/<password> -f chpass -o <sapowner> -p <password>
    Otherwise, change the password in the SAPUSER table:
    DELETE FROM "OPS$<sid>ADM".SAPUSER;
    INSERT INTO "OPS$<sid>ADM".SAPUSER VALUES ('<sapowner>', '<password>');
    Important: The SAPUSER table should only exist once in every system: for OPS$<sid>ADM. For this reason, only execute the above-mentioned statements for OPS$<sid>ADM - irrespective of the operating system user actually being used. All other OPS$ users can access the SAPUSER table using a synonym.
    If the connect still terminates in the same way, check once more the section "General checks".
    2) log entries:  Try to connect with default password
                    Connecting as <sapowner>/<pwd>@<sid> on connection 0
    ERROR => OCI-call 'olog' failed: rc = 1017
    ERROR => CONNECT failed with sql error '1017'
    If you want to use the standard password sap and do not need the OPS$ mechanism, reset the <sapowner> password to sap:
    ALTER USER <sapowner> IDENTIFIED BY sap;
    If you do not want to use the standard password, the error cannot be avoided at this point. Set up the OPS$ mechanism as described above instead.
    Regards
    Rahul

  • A short dump occurs when accessing SAP BI 7.0 using GUI 620

    hi,
    i'm getting this error while executing..DTP.
    solve this .....

    Hi,
    BI 7.0 will not work with SAP GUI 6.20.
    Take a look at this SAP note.
    Maintenance strategy / deadlines 'SAP GUI'
    SAP Note Number: [147519|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_bc_fes/~form/handler%7b5f4150503d3030323030363832353030303030303031393732265f4556454e543d444953504c4159265f4e4e554d3d313437353139%7d]
    Compatibility - 6.20
    SAP GUI for Windows 6.20 is compatible with products based on SAP Web Application Server 6.40/7.00/7.01/7.02 and all earlier releases of SAP Software which are still supported by SAP (this includes extended maintenance).
    Exceptions to this rule are
    BI 7.0: Requires new frontend components shipped only together with SAP GUI for Windows 6.40 as of compilation 4. For BI 7.0 you definitely need at least this compilation CD. For further information on this please check the master guide for SAP NetWeaver 2004s components and documentation center at

    SCM 5.0: Requires a new frontend component which is integrated into SAP GUI for Windows 6.40 (also see note 889989).
    SAP GUI for Windows 6.20 is not compatible with SAP Systems based on SAP Web Application Server 7.10 and higher.

  • SAP GUI 710 installation with BW 3.5 addon - BW Browser has disappeared

    Dear all,
    I hope someone can help with a BW 3.50 add-on problem following SAP GUI patching.
    I'm doing a local installation of SAP GUI 710 Compilation 3.
    I have selected the following three options:
    1. SAP GUI for Windows 7.10 (Compilation 3)
    2. BW 3.50 Add-On for SAP GUI 7.10
    3. Business Explorer
    (We require both BW add-ons for version reasons.)
    Following this I have applied the SAP GUI Level 13 Patch (gui710_13-10002995.exe).
    Up to this point, everything works as expected and I can still see the BW Browser at Start --> Programs --> Business Explorer --> Business Explorer (SAP BW 3.x) --> Browser (SAP BW 3.x)
    However, when I apply the BW 3.50 Add-On Level 6 Patch (bw350gui710_6-10004473.exe) the Browser disappears from the menu and I can't locate it anywhere. A reboot wasn't required although I did this anyway with no visible effect.
    I did try uninstalling everything and attempted the same process, but with SAP GUI Patch Level 12, and combinations with BW 3.50 Add-On Patch Level 4 but with the same result.
    Has anyone else come across this issue, or know what has happened?
    Thanks.

    We have a similar setup, utilizing all 3 as you do.
    Since we are currently at Browser patch 4, eventually headed to patch 6, I threw your situation into our VM enviroment and tested the installation of Browser patch 6.  Interesting enough, a clean install of Windows XP, Office 2003, and then GUI 7.10 with patch 13 and Browser 3.5 sp4 works as normal.  Once I applied SP6 for the Browser, I still have the icon under the Start menu but the wdbbapp.exe is gone.
    Thanks to the VM test enviroment, I was able to recreate the scenario in a few moments and this time prior to installing the patch 6 for the Browser, I set it up to catch all the changes the SAP installer makes when applying sp6.
    The installation performed the following activity:
    13 files added
    4 files deleted
    141 files updated
    363 registry entries added
    522 registry entries deleted
    129 registry entries updated
    Of the 4 files deleted, one of them is the BEx Browser (wdbbapp.exe) - which is why my shortcut won't work
    Of the 13 added, none of them are the file being replaced.
    Of the 141 modified, none are this file either.
    I am still going through the log but have not seen anywhere it will make a difference if the file is not there.
    Again, I am not saying there is a problem, perhaps they changed the way it is accessed, I am not fully up on the process of the BEx Browser.  SAP may have something mentioned about it on their GUI/BEx site or a note, this is just my preliminary findings.
    Regards,
    Zecher

  • Excel upload FM that works in multiple GUI versions

    Hello all,
    I am looking for some standard SAP functionality that has been released for customer use to upload Excel files into SAP.  We have been using the following two function modules for a number of years successfully.  Now the data is not uploaded correctly into the internal table with GUI 620 patch level 65.
    ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE
    KCD_EXCEL_OLE_TO_INT_CONVERT
    SAP's response was that these are not officially supported and they would be happy to charge a consulting fee to help us find a solution.
    The following function module works successfully in all the different patch levels of GUI 620 and GUI 640 that I have tried.  However this function module has not been officially released for customer use either.  Meaning at any point in the future this function module could break as well.
    TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP
    The Excel file that we are using contains a macro.  I get very strange results when I try to upload the file using GUI_upload.  The characteristics and the parameters of the macro are being intermingled with the actual data in the Excel file.
    Is anyone aware of a function module or method of a class, that has been released for customer use, that works successfully in all patch levels of both GUI 620 and 640? We are using SAP version 4.7.
    Thanks

    April,
    Thanks for your reply.  HR_PK_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE does not show up in our system when doing a search on function modules.  It is good to know that TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP has been released for customer use in newer systems than we are currently using.
    I think that I'll use this function module, TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP, and call it a day.
    Although, I am still interested in other solutions if anybody out there has one.

  • Report Designer missing 'group level' area - GUI problem?

    Hi all -
    I have a few questions here that I think are related, so I'm posting in one thread.
    1)  As far as what I've been reading on, we can upgrade to BI 7.0 even with a front-end SapGUI 640 (patch 19).  True or False?
    2)  One can <u>only</u> use Report Designer with SapGUI 710.  True or False?
    And here's a long one...
    3)  When you open Report Designer  should we see "Group Level" on the right-hand side (if it's checked to show)?  Mine (having sapgui 710 at patch 1) was showing just the ruler, but not the "Group Level" areas... is this a gui issue?  What's the fix?
    [my history of GUI install:
    Before upgrade:  Sap GUI 640 patch 8
    After upgrade:  Installed NW4s BEx components only
    (then getting dumps in the r3 back-end) so installed SAP GUI 710 from 50083078_4 cd.
    Report Designer missing the group level areas... I thought, might as well install patch 01. But that did not help.]
    Any input would be great!
    Thanks guys (and girls!)!
    Cheers...

    I had a couple issues to 710 with the report designer. i didnt had anything similar to ur issue, but all my default and specifics of format catalog were blacked out and not allowing me to change that. I downgraded to 640 and everything works fine now. (I tried installing all possible latest and greatest on the GUI but nothing worked and it costed me a whole day to acknowledge the fact)
