GUI transparency bug?

I have been experiencing this problem for a while now. All apps show contrasted parts of my desktop wallpaper through GUI parts that should not be transparent. If I take a screen shot to register this "bug" it does not show on the screen shot, so I had to photograph it in order to get a visual.
Does this sound/look familiar to anyone? I have the latest updates for my mid 2009 iMac 24" and do not run any customization apps.
Image of the visual bug: http://i47.tinypic.com/1j1dfr.jpg
This is the visible part of the wallpaper that is being let through: http://i50.tinypic.com/2dqvd2.png
Note: My screen is not dirty at all, at happens on a software level and is not baked into my LCD because when I change the wallpaper the pattern changes along with it.

I'm not quite sure what you are seeing...
But try removing the following files:
~/Library/Preferences/systemuiserver.plist
~/Library/Preferences/byhost/hitoolbox.plist

  • Acrobat Transparency Bug?

    I was wondering if anyone has this bug and a solution to fix it in regards to pdf created containing transparent images. Any time I place any kind of image with transparency on a page, the colors of the that entire page are rendered incorrectly in Acrobat. The colors are only effected on the page with the transparent image.  The pdf's colors render fine when opened with Photoshop, Reader, etc.  I thought it may have been a problem with just that individual InDesign document, but I created a fresh one and was able to test and recreate that same bug.  This is with CS3 / Adobe Acrobat 8.
    I've attached a before and after to show you the color error in Acrobat.  Does any one know the solution to this?

    It's good that you'll be submitting a bug. This sort of thing has happened before, and I think it's related some to the fact that InDesign is capable of generating field appearances that you can't set up in Acrobat (transparency in particular).

  • Tracing an image with transparency - bug?

    Try the following: import a PNG or PSD that consists of WHITE-coloured line art on a layer (background is transparent).
    Now run autotrace (did I just date myself?) Image Trace. Now expand. Look at your document in outline mode (preview mode turned off). All you got was a solid white box. Try tracing again with "Ignore White" turned on. Now you get nothing at all.
    This is kind of lame. If I have line art on a transparent background, what could be better for tracing?
    Workaround: in Photoshop, flatten the white artwork against a solid black background, invert and then save as a TIF with layers off.
    So, Adobe, is this a feature? A bug? Will it be addressed?

    All you had to is to select the image in Illustrator and go to Edit>Edit Color>Invert Colors then perform your Live Trace or Image Trace works like a charm
    This was all white art on a transparent background in photoshop I opened the psd in photoshop converted to illustrator objects and then used the invert command and performed my image tarce no problems
    You will have to use the ignore white option and then delete everything  in the layer panel except the compound path that describes the art as such
    You end up with this
    then you can fill it as you wish like such

  • U3D: Transparency bug (?)

    Dear All (and Supportpersons Adobe in particular),
    I believe I have come across a bug that surfaces
    when one part of a transparent mesh has to be seen thru another.
    Please, take a look at the following examples:
    "Real-world"
    http://www.iaas.msu.ru/tmp/u3d/surf_alpha.pdf
    - if you rotate it around, at some camera positions the mesh is transparent,
    at other not.
    "Test-case" (simplest sample from Intel U3D Sample library)
    http://www.iaas.msu.ru/tmp/u3d/box.pdf
    if "doube-sided rendering" is enabled in 3D Preferences and Model Render Mode is set to Transparent via Toolbar some triangles differ in color and are not transparent.
    Does the effect appear on your systems?
    It looks like a bug to me, but I may miss something obvious about 3D graphics
    (i.e. may be it is the case like "it does not work the 'natural' way you expect it to - but it should not and can't"). May be there are known workarounds?
    Oh mighty people of Adobe, please, confirm my report or diffuse my skepticism (end reeducate me if necessary)!
    Sincerely, Michail
    PS.
    I have tried both OpenGL 1.4 and Software rendering in Adobe Reader 9 on my MacBook.
    It does not look like it is related to Lights, Textures, Vertex Colors etc.
    It may be correlated with double-sided rendering and looking on the other part of the same mesh as opposed to another mesh.

    Dear Michail,
    The surf_alpha file contains one mesh for the complex surface, and Acrobat sorts by object. Sorting by triangle would give visually fewer artifacts, and would also be incredibly slow as every triangle in the scene would be sorted for every frame. Z buffer rendering does not deal well with multiple simultaneous transparent objects, and even sorting the triangles does not always work if there is self intersection within or between objects. Some algorithms do deal with this issue properly, but would require significant pre-processing, hardware or time per frame.
    One partial solution you could try is to break the mesh into multiple objects. Minimizing concavity within each mesh will minimize artifacts due to transparency.

  • SAP GUI Scripting  bug?

    Hi there,
    I developed a custom transaction with only one very simple screen. I disabled the application toolbar in the screen settings (checked "Without Application Toolbar"). But when I start SAP GUI via Scripting API, the application toolbar is always shown. I wonder is this a bug or by design?
    Does anyone know the work around for this? It's a real show stopper for me
    Igor

    Hi Gunnar,
    if You log via myProgram.exe to SAP, then SAP GUI is running in so-called classical design. This also appears to selected design, if the following to be set:
    START -> All programs -> SAP Front End -> SAP GUI Configuration -> Applications -> Add -> myProgram.exe -> Open -> OK-Button

  • Creating drop shadow on semi transparent bug

    I have to put a client's logo on the bottom right of the screen. I have appliyed the keying effect on it to make the rectangle frame dissapear so that only the logo appears. However, I would need to surround it with a thin black line or shadow so that it doesn't disappear over certain backgrounds. Ho do I achieve that (the inspector doesn't provide any ''drop shadow'' effect for that clip as it would if it were a title) ?

    If you have FCPX 10.0.6 or later, in the Effects browser > Stylize, you should find a Drop Shadow effect you can add to the watermark clip.

  • Bug: IconUIResource doesn't paint an animated ImageIcon

    I was recently playing with Icons and found that javax.swing.plaf.IconUIResource doesn't paint an ImageIcon that contains an animated GIF. Found the reason in these bug fixes.
    [http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4215118]
    [http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4215118]
    From that, I could arrive at a workaround: extend ImageIcon to implement the UIResource marker interface and use this class instead of wrapping an ImageIcon in a IconUIResource. Interestingly, NetBeans autocomplete revealed the existance of sun.swing.ImageIconUIResource which I determined to be a direct subclass of ImageIcon, with two constructors that take an Image and byte[] respectively.

    Animated gif is working fine for me.
    You can check the delay time between the images in the gif, to see that it's not too short.
    Here's a simple example:import java.net.URL;
    import javax.imageio.ImageIO;
    import javax.imageio.stream.ImageInputStream;
    import javax.swing.ImageIcon;
    import javax.swing.JDialog;
    import javax.swing.JFrame;
    import javax.swing.JLabel;
    import com.sun.imageio.plugins.gif.GIFImageMetadata;
    import com.sun.imageio.plugins.gif.GIFImageReader;
    public class AnimatedGifTest {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            try {
                JFrame frame = new JFrame();
                frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JDialog.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
                URL url = new URL("http://www.gifanimations.com/action/SaveImage?path=/Image/Animations/Cartoons/~TS1176984655857/Bart_Simpson_2.gif");
                frame.add(new JLabel(new ImageIcon(url)));
                frame.pack();
                frame.setVisible(true);
                // Read the delay time for the first frame in the animated gif
                GIFImageReader reader = (GIFImageReader) ImageIO.getImageReadersByFormatName("GIF").next();
                ImageInputStream iis = ImageIO.createImageInputStream(url.openStream());
                reader.setInput(iis);
                GIFImageMetadata md = (GIFImageMetadata) reader.getImageMetadata(0);
                System.out.println("Time Delay = " + md.delayTime);
                reader.dispose();
                iis.close();
            } catch (Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();}
    }

  • Toolbar bugs

    Bug #1:  Customizing the file toolbar to add a "close standard" option does not retain the new icon I've added onto the toolbar after re-starting Multi-Sim.  I'm not sure if other toolbar customizations are the same way or not.  I think this is a bug because I haven't seen an option to NOT retain customizations after exiting (that seems to be not the point of customizing the GUI).
    Bug #2:  Toolbars don't 'go back' to the position they were in if the window gets resized, or if you're in the options and select large icons, and then de-select it.  Selecting large icons spaces the toolbars at the minimum distance with the bigger icons and then when you de-select then all the icons are back to normal size but the toolbars are spaced out.  Having to rearrange all of the toolbars when something happens to the window or whatnot shouldn't be necessary.

    Hi,
    I was not able to replicate bug 1 in Multisim 10.  Is this the same version you are using?
    Can you try this procedure again and see if it works, there is a known issue (bug 2) were the toolbar changes occasionally and I was wondering if this is the same thing that is happening to you.

  • Transparency issue within linear wipe effect

    Hello,
    my client wishes some special linear wipe transitions for his new image movie. Due to the fact, that the transition should have a specified angle i used the "linear wipe" effect to make some presets.
    To get a smooth transition i tried to use the feathered edge option. As soon as i choose a value above 9 pixels, the whole layer gets a little bit transparent (approximately 5%) and you can see all video tracks underneath the clip.
    I have no idea how to solve this problem. First, i thought that this issue occures only in the preview monitor, but you can see the slight transparency even in the final render. I am surprised that the "linear wipe" effect works perfectly within After Effects, even it is the same plugin file (.aex).
    So i tried to import the whole premiere project file into after effects. unfortunately without success.
    My current version of  Premiere is "Adobe Premiere Pro CC v7.2.2"
    Thanks for any support.
    Feathered Edge: 9px
    Feathered Edge: 10px

    Hi BB,
    Sorry you did not get a response here. Did you ever resolve this issue? There is another user on the Red User forum experiencing the same issue. Here's a link: Linear wipe transparency Bug
    Any details on your system and media would be most helpful in trying to resolve this issue.
    Thanks,

  • [SOLVED] Transparent Minecraft screen

    Hello, I've been having issues with my graphics for Minecraft lately. Ever since the upgrade to Mesa 10 and above along with the Intel drivers that go along with it, I have had a major transparency bug with Minecraft. I've included some screenshots below on imgur.
    I'm running a system(Dell Inspiron N5110) with:
    Intel i5-2450m (2.5GHz at 2 cores)
    6 GB RAM
    Intel HD Graphics 3000 (integrated graphics)
    My system is currently up to date, and I also did a reinstall yesterday(I had the issue beforehand too, I just downgraded to mesa and all required libraries to 9.2.4 - the last version that didn't happen with this - I just want to get it fixed and run on latest versions now). Minecraft is completely up to date(1.7.5). Doesn't matter what launcher I use either.

    Thank you for pointing me towards that post, I had not seen that one while searching. All I found was old posts that didn't lead me anywhere.
    Edit: Issue solved, close if you'd like.

  • Runtime error dialog hidden by custom C# GUI

    I have a sequence file that has a front end GUI written in C#. When the MainSequence is run, it calls ShowForm() on the C# GUI in a separate thread. The GUI is used to select which other sequences to run in the sequence file as well as display percent complete status, etc.
    My problem is that if an error occurs, I do not see the Runtime error dialog until I close the GUI. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the runtime dialog box to show while the GUI form is displayed? Or even some way to update the GUI to show there is an error?

    The simplest solution might be to make the GUI transparent so you can see the form and what is behind it.
    Set the forms Opacity property to %50 just before showing the form. (Form.Opacity = 0.5). You can adjust the forms transparency until your satisfied that you can see the gui and what is behind it.

  • Adobe Muse Windows XP bug?

    My Adobe Muse website does not render correctly in Internet Explorer on a computer running Windows XP.  It works fine on computers not running XP.  In partiicular,  a tiled image for a header/footer  with 45% opacity on a master page does not show up at all. In addition, for a composition with triggers having rounded corners, only the first trigger shows up with rounded corners while the remaining triggers are square.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

    IE7 and IE8 have a lot of bugs related to transparency and transparent images. Muse goes to great lengths to workaround many of these bugs. In other cases Muse resorts to an either effect A or effect B approach in cases where two effects simply don't work well together in IE7 and IE8.
    I think you can get around the IE7 and IE8 transparency bugs in your case by simply making the PNG images that are being used for the tiled header/footer background and trigger backgrounds opaque. Given your design, you can put a white background behind the image in Photoshop, Fireworks or similar and then flatten the result to get an opaque PNG, or JPEG. for the trigger buttons, you'll need to create separate opaque images for each state that has a unique appearance. If the images are opaque, I believe the rendering issues you're encountering will go away.
