Nokia might add this feature in the future, but bear in mind that what happens now is the logical thing for any portable audio device.
What happens if you disconnect the headphones from a transistor radio that you're listening to? The sound starts coming from the radio's loudspeaker.
What happens when you disconnect the headphones from a portable cassete/CD player? The sound starts coming form the sound system's speakers.
Do you see a pattern emerging here?

[iPhone SDK] Using audioQueue automatically stops music player.

This is a PR I recently submitted.
+Using the audioQueue in an SDK application automatically stops the music player.+
+STEPS TO REPRODUCE+
+On the device :+
+Play a tune in the music application.+
+Launch the LunarLander sample+
RESULTS
+The music is stopped.+
NOTES
+I use the Audio Queue to generate different tones (sin waves) in my program (reacting to touch screen presses).+
+As far as i understood, only the audio queue can let me do that.+
+I want those sound effects to be in parallel to the music, if the user did not choose to stop the music by himself.+
+At least, the stop of the music play should be explicit when using the audio queue SDK (i cannot find a way to do it).+
My PR was closed because it 'Behaves correctly' with the following comment :
+We want people to use AudioSession (to behave better when an incoming call is rejected), so they can set it how they want it.+
+If you look at the AudioSession API <AudioToolbox/AudioServices.h> we recommend setting your category as "ambient" and this will:+
+(1) Mean you can't use formats like MP3 or AAC+
+(2) Means that the iPod will be able to play in the background+
Since i cannot find a way do discuss with the resolver of my PR (other than submitting a new equivalent PR), I hope that someone here will be able to help.
I cannot find any "Audio Session" API that would allow me to feed some sound data (to play a specific sine tone effect) while the user touches the screen.
The only API I can find (other than the ones for Audio Queue and Open-AL) is dedicated to play files (as it is used to play short sound effects).
Moreover, when I look, as suggested, at the <AudioToolbox/AudioServices.h> file, I cannot find anything related to "category" nor "ambient".
Could this be a problem of the current beta ?
Does anyone know a way to generate (on the fly) some sound effect while keeping the (iPod) music played ?

Thank you for the reply. The podcasts i was referring to are audio only. I checked the video app and it is blank.
New information: The last day of podcast downloads that worked properly was 6/13. I was able to find the newer podcast downloads by searching the phone and they will play in the music player when selected in the search results. They still don't show up on the music player's list of podcasts and they won't play sequentially. It's like the music player refuses to acknowledge the existence of any podcast after 6/13.

Why does my iPhone 5 automatically launch iTunes Player when I plug it into my car stereo?

Whenever I plug my iPhone 5 into my car stereo using my Apple USB, the iTunes Player automatically launches and starts playing music from my library. I'd really like to know how to stop this from happening as it's annoying as heck! When it happens, I have to open the player, select "now playing", pause it, swipe the player closed. I'm fully updated to 7.1 also. Thank you for any help you can offer!

Surely there's a relatively easy fix for this but no Apple Rep wants to enlighten me Yet
Come on guys .. this really drives me crazy a minimum of 5 times a day.

Do you mean the actual music app or an mp3 track starts playing? The only thing I can think of is that you have an mp3 set as a notification and that is what is happening here. You are receiving a notification.

dat? dis? Dear me! It's fortunate that I could understand that query at all.
Just to confirm that this chap is not going mad though, I have experienced the same problem too where the music player opens up of its own accord. It's happened a few times when I've been responding to a message. Very odd behaviour but I've simply closed the application and got on with my life. I guess it's a bug which manifests itself under specific conditions.

E66 Music Player gets stuck and end of some tracks

I'm trying to use my E66 as a music player when I work out, but it gets to the end of some (but bizarrely not all) tracks and in the last 5 or 6 seconds will start looping the same short (.5sec) piece of a track, and will continue to do that after the time has hit 0 and not move on to the next song. Some tracks seem to be ok, but others don't. The player and the phone haven't crashed - I can move to the next track by clicking the skip track button, or just pausing and playing again. The music is stores on a MicroSD, mostly in MP3 format if that helps anyone diagnose the problem. It's driving me nuts - can anyone help??!

Usually you get a dialog asking if you want to resume from where you started off, or play from the beginning if it was played on the machine before. If you aren't, it might be hiding behind your player window. Try to reduce its size to see if it is hiding. If you've never played those discs on your computer before from any other vendor, and this a machine you bought from Apple, dust might have gotten on the lense in the drive to cause this problem. Take it in for service in that event.

E63 & E71- Music player's equalizer does not work ...

I would advise to all the owners of the E71 and E63 that Nokia disenable the equalizer of the music player when you put the headphones in appliances. After updating the unit note that the equalizer only works with the sound of the speaker and the equalizer does not work with the headphones anymore.
I ask you to please click the link below and make their complaints about this new firmware that "destroys" the equalizer for the music player that Nokia fix this terrible problem!

Oh my. That is a big problem. Fortunately for me, I don't use the equalizer so it doesn't really affect me all that much. But still, I have no idea how they could just randomly break something like that.

N97 Music Player Keeps On Refreshing

I recently updated my N97 V.20 and the phone is way better than before.. I have problem in my music player when i copy files on my internal 32GB memory and refresh the library it keeps on refreshing then i have to remove battery. When i on the phone and check the music library it will not show any music tracks but the details shows that 273 songs have been added..
* When i hard reset my phone the music files will be displayed on my library
* When i add new music files and refresh my music library the same error occurs "music library keeps on refreshing"
Can anyone suggest me how can i solve this problem?? Because of this bug i am unable to listen to music on my phone :-(

I also had the "Problem".
1. Restart your Phone ( OFF and ON ) after transferring the Files.
2. Start Music Player
3. Go to "options"
4. Got to "refresh library" or "update library" I don't know the exact wording because i've got the German Version.
5. The amount of imported Files will be displayed. Finished.

Music player in nokia n70

have no music in music player when i try and save some all it says is not enough memory to complete this operation can any-one help

Generally the 'E' should be choosed to save the music files.
E is your RSMMC Card. The Cellphone's own capacity is very small,so you'd better leave them to save some important file for example some system software.
And you'd better check the free space of your card and phone.You can buy a large RSMMC card,and it's very cheap now.
More,When some MP3 files' tags are not suitable,the tags of file should be changed.You can try to clear the unnecessary information tags of Mp3 files by the audio software.(tag conventer etc.)

Ipod touch music player is frozen

My Ipod touch froze while I was using the music player and now it wont work at all (the music player) when I try to open it, it shows a white screen then returns to my home page. If I get lucky it will go to playlist page but wont do anything from there. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help

Terminate the music player. To do this double-click the Home button to bring up the recent apps tray. Locate the music player icon and touch the music player icon until an "X" appears at its corner. Now touch the "X" to terminate the player.
You may also want to reset your iPod. Press the Home button and the On/Off button together and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

5800 - Stop ringtones playing in music player - ho...

As the subject suggests - does anyone know how to do this?
I find it very annoying when I choose to listen to all music and the ringtones or message tones play

I've found a workaround for this problem that seems to work for me on my 5800 XM Nav Ed. After I was done adding all of my music to my phone and refreshed my music library I too found that the ringtones that I'd downloaded in the past had showed up in the music player when I displayed all songs. So what I did was remove the ringtones from the "Sounds\Digital Sounds" folder on my external memory card and moved them to the "Other" folder on the phone's internal memory using the built in file manager application. Then I went back into the music player app and low and behold the ringtones were no longer displayed in the music library when I displayed all songs. I did however have to go back to the phone profiles that I had customized (i.e. Normal, meeting, etc.) and reselect the appropriate ringtone because when you first go into the profile to customize after having moved the tones from their original location to the "Other" folder you get an error message that basically states the ringtone cannot be found so a default will be used. When you select the ringtone to change it however, the original ringtone that you used will be displayed in the list of available tones you just have to reselect it to make it work again. If however you do add more songs and do a refresh on the music library the ringtones will show up again when you display all songs in the music library. Hope you find this works for you as well. Like I said it is a workaround and not a permanent fix.

i have nokia5800 v 40.0.005,but in music player when i switch next button to change songs then it keeps hanging and i have to restart the phone.

Music Player for N73

After updating to the lastest firmware V 4.0735.3.02 I notice that AMR formated files are not playing by Music Player when I open from X plore.. when I tried to open from Gallery I mean sound clips it plays.. can somebody please advise whats wrong and how to fix this.. I have COREPlayer also in my devices which plays everyting without any problems..

IOS music player audio gets paused when switching to AIR app

Hi,
iOS default music player's audio gets paused automatically whenever I switch to an AIR app. Is there a way to keep it playing?

I believe this issue occurs only between songs that iTunes has converted to a lower bitrate for you during transfer to your iOS device and songs that it has not done this for. Take this Between the Buried and Me album, for instance. I have marked all of the transitions that should have been gapless but probably aren't in red. I know for sure that most of these marked transitions are indeed broken and that the most of the transitions not marked in red work flawlessly... I honestly can't remember whether or not some of these transitions were gapless or not, but the many transitions I do remember working or not working match up exactly with whether or not the songs on either side of the transition were also on other sides of the 256kbps threshold, the threshold at which I enabled iTunes to convert tracks to 256kbps AAC.
I'm going to try re-sync'ing my library with that "feature" disabled and see if it fixes my gapless playback problem. Will post the results once I test it out.
