Guide for becoming SRM-Techno_Functional

Hi all,
Am an ABAPer.AM aiming to become a SRM techno functional.
Plaese tell me to what percent it is technical and to what percent it is functional.
Please tell me if learning java is required for this role.
Also please provide some basic material on SRM domain.
I also have option for BI.Please tell which role will be better from earning point of view.

SRM is good for technical consultants also...but only thing is if you are having good exp in advanced ABAP then you can learn SRM easily...it also requires littlie bit MM funcational knwoedlge..
SRM techno funcaitonal role very good market is there......

Hi Krishna,
You can find all configuration guides at http://service.sap.com/ibc. For SRM server 5.5 (SRM5.0), the configuration guide has to be downloaded from Solution Manager.
Solution Manager is must for all new version implementations now.

In the related business scenario config guides at the end they have given necessary BW integration with SRM.

Mostly you should refer the 'spend analysis' guides as it talks mostly on integartion and reporiting in SRM through BW.

Else you could browse SdN - Download - Portal content portfolio - search with the business package name.
If you have permissions, u can download the package. Sometimes you may face problem with downloading business package and documentation using IE. You may then need to try with mozilla.

[Wiki] Condensed Installation Guide for beginners?

Hello,
I believe that the beginners' installation guide could be condensed and simplified somewhat.
Would it be useful for me to add such a guide to the wiki (which would particularly apply to virtual machine installations)? Won't touch the existing guide, of course!
By "over-complicated" I mean dhcpcd should work right off the bat (especially with a wired connection), and NetworkManager can automatically handle internet connections for installed systems.
By "condensing" I mean to add user configuration, etc., in the same article.
Idea is this should work as a "first attempt" guide for users, who could then refer to the more involved beginners' guide if they run into any problems.

No, as jasonwryan says, if you want you can add some personal installation notes under your User page. However what VM are you using? Have you noticed that we already have articles for virtualization software that explain how to install an Arch guest? See Category:Virtualization.

This is absolutely the kind of articles we want to avoid on the wiki: a good guide should link to specific articles, not duplicate their content, otherwise it will become impossible to maintain. If you feel the article for your VM, or those on networking (see Category:Networking) like Network Configuration or NetworkManager are not clear in some of their parts, you are invited to help improving them.

GUID for category approvers

Hi Experts,
We are working in SRM 5.0, in which shopping cart approvers will be getting from a customized pool of approvers.
Now we have to change the approval process so that depending on the approval type(before or after existing approvers)
the approvers needs o be appended to approvers list.
At present based on the shopping cart item GUID, the workitem needs to be send to new approvers.
But I couldnt get the GUID for category approvers ,as there is no item in shopping cart.
I tried using GUID of one of the items, but its populating the details of that item in approval inbox.
Is there any FM to generate GUIDs and popualte the details of workitem as required.

Hi all,
we are currently struggling with our AE. We are going to migrate from Xi 2.0 to XI 3.0, we run into problems while configuring our old J2SE AE (for which I have found a good PDF document on the SAP Service Marketplace).
Now we would like to test/configure the J2EE AE on XI 3.0.
But I cant find any guide for this on the SAP Service Marketplace. Does anyone know where to find this?

Query on components to be used for SAP SRM Installation

We have a requirement for SRM Server.. I need some help on what installation objects should I download. This is on AIX and DB2
for "EHP1 FOR SAP SRM 7.0 -> based on SAP NetWeaver 7.02"
I'm sure that I'll need :
1) Installation Master
2) Export (SAP SRM 7.0 EHP1 Installation Export 1-3 of 3) 51038765_1
I have queries on this:
3) For Java stack, the component available is BS7i2010 Java Components 1x4 of 4
I have NW 7.3 based EP system. Can that be used for Java or Do I need to install another stand alone Java ?
If it can be used:
- Will it not create problems b'coz portal is on 7.3 and SRM is based on 7.02
- are there any SRM Java specific components in this installation object or is it a plain NW 7.02 Java stack ?
4) What is SAP SRM 7.0 EHP1 Components in terms of functionality given?
5) We need MDM Server:.
For MDM Server: Where do I need to download MDM Server from ? I am not sure If we have license under our S-user.. Can you give me the path where download starts ?

Download relevent OS copy as its AXi and DB2. What ever It can be: OS Bit 64 or OS Bit 32.
As it's DVD so it contains all version info in lable.sca file. Read it before you start installation.
