Guide to connect Adobe drive with Alfresco CE

Hallo everybody!
Since adobe remove version cue, i search for a replacement. Can somebody please write a short guide how to configurate Alfresco CE to optimal work with adobe drive? Its drive me creasy, bljad! I think, i am not alone with this problem. Feel free to write here everethink, you found about it. Together we find a solution, i think.
The interest were (after connect Adobe drive to Alfresco CE):
- how configurate the space, where Alfresco CE saving the files ?
- how to set permissions to Alfresco CE drive to chek in the files from adobe programms?
- in bridge i cannot see the thumbnails of files (only the standart thumbs, maby it has something to do with the permission rights?)
- how can thomebody else from anywhere connect to Alfresco Cmis that is locally on my pc, like earler in versioncue, to callobarate)

To work with Adobe Drive, you just need to install and launch Alfresco CE server. No special configuration.
Section 'Using the CMIS Connector' in CMIS CONNECTOR FOR ADOBE DRIVE 2.1: TECHNICAL NOTE doc shows the detailed steps on how to connect Alfresco server with Adobe Drive 2.1. Below is the link for the tech note:

For simply try, use admin account to connect Alfresco Server with Adobe Drive. CMIS CONNECTOR FOR ADOBE DRIVE 2.1: TECHNICAL NOTE doc gives the detail info about how to browse, check in, and check out files.
For "in bridge i cannot see the thumbnails of files (only the standart thumbs, maby it has something to do with the permission rights?)", Adobe Drive 2.1 with CMIS connector doesn't support it. But Adobe Drive has exposed API to retrieve thumbnails of files. If you have interest, you can download Adobe Drive SDK ( http://www.adobe.com/devnet/adobedrive/eula_21.html ) and try it.
For "how can thomebody else from anywhere connect to Alfresco Cmis that is locally on my pc, like earler in versioncue, to callobarate)", Adobe Drive 2.1 with CMIS connector support it. Just replace 'localhost' with you external IP address in Server URL when connect to Alfresco server.

Adobe Drive and Alfresco Enterprise Fails to Check-in With Custom Content Types

I've been struggling with some drive limitations over the last few weeks as we try to utilize the CMIS connector to Alfresco. I am currently testing with Adobe Drive 3.2.0.41 and Alfresco 4.0.1 Enterprise but have tested this behavior with Drive 4.0.2.6 paired with Alfresco 4.1.1.3 and seen the same behavior:
The issue I am seeing is that I am unable to Check in a new document into the repository when there is a rule set up to apply a custom content type from our model. After entering my check-in comment and pressing OK, I get an unknown error from Bridge, InDesign, or Photoshop. It works fine if I do not specialize our type with a rule (leaving the content as cm:content). The error I recieve in Alfresco is: org.alfresco.service.cmr.repository.CopyServiceException: The source and destination node must be the same type.
I understand that this might be a limitation of Drive and Alfresco working together, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this issue or any potential workaround, since it is pretty limiting for alfresco to not have any non OOTB content types.

Adobe Drive CC still has this issue. I can dra-n-drop a .PSD into Alfresco 4.2 and it will work perfectly - unless I use Adobe Drive to edit and check-in the file.

Connect Adobe Drive to CQ 5.5 using SSL

I recently changed my CQ 5.5 server to use HTTPS (SSL) to connect to it so that it could be accessible from outside our network securely. The browser URL works fine using SSL and the new port, but now Adobe Drive won't connect. CQ Support told me to contact Adobe Drive Support, but I can't find that anywhere.

What is the behavior you're seeing with regard to Adobe Drive not connecting to your CQ 5.5 server? Are you using the latest version of Adobe Drive (related to Hema's question)? Recently released; Adobe Drive CC (compatible with CS6 and CC desktop applications). Is your CQ 5.5 server using a trusted certificate?
Overall, can you please send to me the case number that was provided to you when you contacted CQ support about this issue? I'll have an agent reach back out to you.

Adobe Drive with OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Hi,
since there is OS X 10.10 to be released within the next days we installed the latest available version today to check some stuff we build using Adobe Drive, but on OS X 10.10 Adobe Drive does not start.
Will there be an update available soon?

It's not working for me either for the Yosemite release. What behavior are you seeing? I can bring up adobe drive, but can't connect with the connector. Is that the basic problem everyone is having?
I tried to attach to a CMIS drive I've attached to before and I see these errors in the AD4ServiceManager_java.log.

Is it possible to connect to Drives with the same name simultaneously on Windows?

I have used Adobe Drive to create two connections to two different servers which both have the same setup:
Server one: Adobe Drive webservice which is connected to a database called "DatabaseA"
Server two: Adobe Drive webservice which is connected to a database called "DatabaseA"
Both databases are called "DatabaseA", the servers are not connected to the same database.
I can add both servers as a Drive in Adobe Drive but I can't seem to manage to connect to them simultaneously on Windows while is does on Mac.
Are there any restrictions for this setup on Windows?

on Windows, you can't mount two drives using AD, this is a limitation, we may support that in the future releases, thanks for your patience

Help using connect hard drive with Time Machine

My iMac and the two wirelessly connect apple laptops all recognize the Western Digital MYBookWorld 500gb external hard drive. We can all write to it and retrieve files. We are using a Lynksys router to which the iMac and WD drive are connected directly while the laptops connect wirelessly.
We are trying to use it with TIME Machine, but when we try to set up time machine, the drive does not show up as an option for the back up disc.
I have read through several old discussions about not recognizing the disc at all, but this is not our problem. Anyone with ideas?

In short to use the External HD for the current backup and TimeMachine you will need to repartition it creating a partition for each. The down side at this point, is that in order to repartition the external the current data on it will be erased. When setting up the External for TimeMachine set the Partition Map Scheme to GUID Partition Table and the Format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
A couple of options:
1. Backup the current files on the External HD to one of your Mac's, then repartition it with 2 partitions, then use the 1st for TimeMachine and copy back the files to the 2nd partition.
2. Safer and easier way is to pickup a second external and set it up for TimeMachine.

Advice on connecting external drive with all of my media

My old computer stopped working and I took out the drive that contained all of my photos and videos that I use with LR and I am now using the drive as a bare bones drive connected to a docking station to another Mac.
The Lightroom folder was on another drive of the broken computer, so I copied that entire folder to the desktop of the new Mac. Everything seemed to open on its own when I opened Lightroom on the new Mac.
I want to add LOTS of new photos to LR, and I just want to check to make sure that this workflow will not cause any problems before I begin.
1. I plan to just copy new photos to the bare bones drive in the docking station and add keywords to them in LR, and when I'm done, eject the drive and place it into a protective case.
2. The Lightroom folder containing the catalog is currently on my desktop, it was previously stored on the other Mac inside the Pictures folder. I might keep it on the desktop for now, though I might move it somewhere else later. Are there any issues with moving it around like this?

Error when connecting Adobe Form with PayPal

We are trying to integrate an Adobe Form into a PayPal purchase so that after a customer has purchased something, they are directed to a form to enter some personlization information. Is it possible to connect Adobe Illustrator with my application?

I have an application that creates 3D objects from 2D sketches and visualises these 3D objects using OpenGL. For example you pass it 2D square it creates a cube, if you pass it a circle it creates a sphere. These 3D objects can be rotated, moved, changed color, also the view(camera) can also be rotated, zoomed.
Is it possible to create a plugin for Adobe Illustrator to pass its 2D sketches into my application? May be I can embed my application into Adobe Illustrator? How can I do this?
Example. In Adobe Illustrator I draw some 2D geometry: squeares, circles etc. Then I press a button "Move to 3D". Then the 2D data is transfered into my 3D application and gets processed. After this user see 3D objects into a 3D scene and can manipulate them.

You can have panels in Illustrator that take their content from native Windows or Mac components so you should be able to display the same rendering components that you use in your application in an Illustrator Panel. I would suggest looking at the EmptyPanel sample as a starting point as this shows how to create a panel that uses native components. You should be able to change this sample so that it displays OpenGL and then work from there. Panels are dockable so it sounds to me like that might fit your needs well.
If you still find that you need some IPC I would suggest using the CS Communication toolkit which is provided with CS Extension Builder 2.0 it has a C++ (and actionscript) library that makes sending and receiving messages to the CS applications easier. Along with some convience functions for starting up the CS applications.

Xi Fi Platinum, in need of wires that connect the drive with the c

Hey I've had a xi fi platinum for more than a year now but only now am I attempting to use spdif optical rather than analog. the only way to do that is to connect the dri've (which previously i didn't have connected) to the card. but i lost the wires that connect the card to the dri've. does anyone know where I can get them, or if it is possible to purchase them from creative? or, is there another way to connect optical to the platinum?

Now a question for all of you digital experts. Is there any particular reason why the S/PDIF connection from the X-Fi to my HT receiver is sounding inferior to the S/PDIF connection from my DVD player? The cable run from the X-Fi output is a bit long (75 ft.), but I didn't think that would matter as it's impossible to distort a digital signal. Is there perhaps a setting in the audio console that is messing up the signal?

Help: Set up Time Machine Drive with Airport Extreme

I've read a few posts on this topic, none of which addressed my specific issue, but all of which stated that this functionality is not officially supported. I really hope this is not true because I bought my Airport Extreme and Hard Drive based on numerous Apple Store clerks assuring me that this was possible. So any help would be most appreciated. Here's the details/story:
I have a 13" MBP 2.53ghz, running 10.5.8 I've been backing up to a local 1TB HDD over FW800 since July with no problems.
I bought an Airport Extreme and am trying to move the drive to the AE to back up wirelessly. Here's what's happened so far:
1. I connected the drive with USB to the AE. It mounted no problem and I could see all my backups easily, but Time Machine did not recognize it as my back up drive. When I used the "Change Drive" button in the hopes of "finding" the drive, it just tried to start a new Time Machine back up set, wirelessly. So I think the broad concept is working, it just a matter of getting TM to recognize the back up set.
2. I plugged the drive in locally with USB (rather than FW800) and did a back up, no problem. After doing this, and plugging the drive back into the AE, TM no recognizes my backup set as mine, and tries to start the next backup, but I got an error message about not being able to write to the drive.
3. I did some reading online to get some ideas, I used Disk Utility to verify and repair the drive (over USB locally) Disk utility did find some errors, but it didn't seem like anything major.
4. Now, TM really starts to get going doing a backup, but when it actually comes time to transfer/write the new data over, I get an new error, that my drive is not formatted as a Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I use disk utitilty again, which confirms that the drive IS Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and is partitioned GUID (which I read is also a requirement)
And this is where I am. Any one have any ideas?

Though you seem to hate it, you have indeed hit the nail... I also had issues with USB attached drives on my AEBS (Airport Extreme Base Station). This problem occurred before Apple had the policy statement in place and they ended up exchanging my AEBS, since it was crashing the AEBS when the USB drive did not become accessible (it was a WD brand that didn't play nice with any USB connection, as it later turned out). I suspect there was nothing wrong then with my original AEBS' USB connection, but the replacement was more reliable overall however, so it proved a boon. Perhaps Apple learned something from my previous problems.
Anyway, Apple is not without its reasons for this policy. That's the long story.
Short story? Use supported configurations only if you want a reliable backup. In my case, can easily move my drive to a Mini and have it run in a supported configuration whether by sparse bundle format or otherwise.
Network connections do indeed format the way described. You can check this very thorough article...Suggest you read the unofficially sanctioned discussion list article by Pondini (kudos for your thoroughness, sir/madam!) first. Many great suggestions and nifty storage ideas to maximize your use of available media in your particular situation will come from a careful reading.

Can Adobe Drive cs4 be used on a NAS

I use Adobe Prod Prem CS4. I have also aquired a 4TB network storage device for use with my video media storage. I'm interested in knowing if I can set up Version Cue to be used on the NAS. I've had problems thus far trying to connect to the NAS by trying to connect to the NAS server manually. I can find the NAS on the network thru Bridge, but thought it might be faster if I can connect adobe drive to it instead.

Although I would not place assets, project files, render files, etc on a NAS due to the slow access, I originally had MY DOCUMENTS mapped to the NAS rather than the system disk as the NAS is a mirrored array. I found that Premiere sticks the preference files in MY DOCUMENTS. For some wierd reason, Premiere could find the MY DOCUMENTS on the NAS when writting the preference files out, but couldn't find those preference files on a read. I had to restore the MY DOCUMENTS mapping back to the system disk to keep Premiere from restoring the default workspace every time I started the program. As such, I agree that the post that states that Premiere doesn't like NAS drives.

Does Adobe Drive 5 have a size limit?

I have connected Adobe Drive to my instance of CQ5.5. I was running a file size test* and it seems that I can't upload or "Check in" a file bigger then aound 120mb.
I can't find any documentation on this limitation could someone please inlighting me? Is this a known issue?
*I copyied a 2gb file into the Adobe drive network drive and then checked it in, it started to transfer but when finished it only has uploaded about 120mb.

I certainly haven't come across a limit.... and I have added 'YES' lyrics for 20 minute tracks and they are huge.
