Hello Projkl,
Welcome to Apple Discussion Forum!
You can check out the website: www.dualbootguru.com for detail information about Boot Camp and how to install Windows XP on your MBP. In addtition to the Apple Boot Camp website, this website is built by one of the Apple members here and it contents pretty much everything you need to know when running Windows on Mac. Credits are given to its owner, not me!
Hope this helps,

  • Error occurred in deployment step 'Activate Features': Feature with Id 'GUID' is not installed in this farm, and cannot be added to this scope.

Really frustrated!!! Using SP 2010 with VS 2010. Created a simple project with just 1 elements.xml file for adding 2 columns. Scope of the feature is "Site". When I right click and deploy it gives below error.
Error occurred in deployment step 'Activate Features': Feature with Id 'GUID' is not installed in this farm, and cannot be added to this scope.
If I look at the CA, I see the wsp is installed but NOT deployed (Status = "Not Deployed", "Deployed To" = None). I have checked the GUID in the error and its my feature id.
Please let me know what is going wrong here! Thanks for your help.

    Hi Sagir,
Try to check the GUID in error message to see if it’s in Feature1.Template.xml file.

  • Need simple guide to re-installing 10.7

What I would like is a simple guide to re-installing 10.7 (I have the disks) without losing all my itunes play count and having to reimport all my pictures?.I have backed up all my files. I have a MacBook Pro with 4GB memory no extensions apart from Sophos antivirus.
Why I wish to do this? 10.8 and above are completely unuseable because of speed issues and the spinning beachball of death (this is due to the fact that launching an application that also accesses the network whilst another network application is open causes the spinning beachball of death on anything above 10.7, so itunes, safari, mail cannot be used together). I also like my scrollbars and apps such as iphoto to work properly. At the moment I am using a cheap PC and an old 10.6 machine for everyday work where I need my computer to be functionally useable.

The mesage boards are flooded with slow mac problems. Flat denial (or the declaring black is white strategy) does not help those who have severe problems. For your information, I bought a brand new top spec MacBook, only used the software that came with the machine and still had severe speed and useability problems. My main solution was to buy a cheap PC so I had a functional computer for everyday tasks, it was less effort than the two weeks I spent following the speed up advice in the forums. What users need is simple solutions, apple have lost their easy to use and maintain ethos.
It is no good saying follow all these tedious hard to understand steps, that defeats the idea of a useable easy to maintain machine.
It is no good saying don't install extensions, most users want to use flash player and install privacy extensions to Safari. Computers and OS's have to be fit for purpose and changing their capabilities is a retrograde step.
It is no good saying scrollbars are an optional extra (that don't work as well as they used to), this decreases the useability of the interface.
It is no good saying upgrade your machine, this is the microsoft strategy of old and it ****** off users.
In short apple have dropped the useability ball and it *****. Mavericks and the previous system are unuseable for a significant proportion of normal users. What are needed are fixes to the actual problems caused by network access conflicts.

  • Viewing the installation guide while you install

I was thinking about trying the Arch. And I'm just wondering if I can view the installation guide or newbie guide while I install Arch.
I didn't find any txt of html files on the installation disk.
Does this mean that while I'm not very confident with installation process I should print out the installation guide or have another computer nearby to look into it?

hi, I never tried it but..
    (from the wiki) http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Off … tall_Guide
"At any point in the install process, you can switch to your 5th virtual console (ALT-F5) to view the output from the commands the setup is running. Use (ALT-F1) to get back to your first console where the installer is running, and any F-key in between if you need to open another console to intervene manually for any reason."
at this point you can use:
    extra/lynx 2.8.6-1 (a text browser)
this is an opportunity but I can't suggest it... it's better to print the guide

  • Problem Installing RAM in MBP...

So, today I decided that I would install some new RAM in my macbook pro.
I went out and bought two 2 gig sticks from Buffalo, specs can be found here:
    http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000F S10098937&catid=
So, I followed apple's guide to Install RAM, and managed to fit it in without any problems. But, after I installed it, My computer won't turn on. The light on the front just stays on.
    can anyone help me out?

    Hi deathcubek,
I bet Kappy hit the nail on the head. That RAM (FYI) is compatible with your Mac (see here: http://www.buffalotech.com/). I had a similar problem when upgrading my MBP a couple of months ago. What my problem was, is that I did not seat the SODIMMS all the way into the sockets. I was afraid to put too much force when putting them in. The first time I did it, only 2 GBs of the 4 GBS registered, and the second time I got the same symptoms as you. So, I opened her back up, and made sure to seat them fully. Problem solved! Good luck!

  • Lost Bluetooth after Self Install HD Upgrade MBP CD

I just installed a new (larger) Hard Disk in my MBP CD. Everything seems fine Hard disk wise, but I have realized that the computer now does not see any bluetooth hardware in System Profiler. Anyone have any ideas? (such as if bluetooth hardware is near the HD and maybe I messed it up?)
    Russell

According to the following guide, the Bluetooth board needs to be moved in order to access the hard drive. It's likely that you may disconnected or partially disconnected the BT board.

  • Leopard completely trashed my HDD and now won't install on my MBP

I only moved away from Windows in the summer and now I feel I'm no better off. I've just upgraded my new MBP (only a few months old) to Leopard and it failed. Not only did it fail with some Sibling Link error (which fsck_hfs -r and other internet search result recommendations failed to resolve) but it resulted in my having to completely reformat my drive!
I then let the install disk do a format of my drive and install and now I get this "The installer was unable to create the folder BaseSystem.pkg on the volume ...." or words to that effect. So now I have a new MBP that won't boot and won't install an operating system!
    What is this? Apple's Vista?
Is there anything I can do to get this operating system to install???

do you have a software install disk that came w/ your computer. If so, load it up, go to disk utility, zero out your HD, and then reinstall the OS from that disk. Leopard absolutely, completely, totally, and irreversibly hosed my pbg4, so much so that not only would it not eject the fri@@@@ Leopard DVD, it wouldn't even cotton pickin' START UP, save for booting into Open Firmware.. I decided that before I trashed it, I'd try one more time to start it up, hold down the **** eject key, to see what happened. I waited 30 minutes to let myself cool off before using the **** thing as target practice and, well, what'd'ya know, it started up, ejected the Leo DVD, immediately following which I inserted the disc for 10.2.7, shut it down, started it up, it booted immediatley into the installer for that OS, I went to disk utility, zero'd out the HD, after which I went about installing 10.2.7. I'm now on my pbg4 w/ that system installed and it's working (so far) flawlessly. What an absolute crock of rat @@@@ Leopard is turning out to be. Oh, btw, on this pbg4 there were no haxies, no 10.4.10 widgets, nothing fancy, save perhaps for Nisus Express and Firefox. I have Leo on a separate HD on my g5 dual 1.8 which is exactly where it's going to stay until all those bright bulbs at Apple can figure out what the **** is going on.
    Hope you have better fortune,
    tony

  • New fresh instalation of 15" MBP fails at 36%.....MAC OS X

    Hello,
I'm trying to install a fresh copy of MAC OS X on my MBP 15" I5 500Gb, (a very jong MAC user deleted some core files :-(
When I'm booting from the original dvd the setup is starting, the whole process of fixing the drive has been done, the setup is detecting that a new instal is needed, the setup start's but @ 36% the GUI is given the yellow mark that some files cannot be coppied and is aborting the installation.
By rebooting the installation is starting again but, it still fails at the same point.
Can somebody help me out with this. Writing this on a windows pc is painfull enough !
    Thanks
    Marcel

When booting from CD open Disk Utility at the top.  Try erasing the disk (500GB) and format to "Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)".  Then install from scratch and you should be all set!

  • Installing OSX from MBP to a G4

I have previously posted how my G4 is on it's way out. Before I finally bid it farewell I thought I would try to re-install OS X on it. Found I could not open the drive on the G4.
So I bought a 3.5 inch external caddie and wired it to my internal drive of my G4 the ran the USB cable in to my MBP and I got full access to my drive. Sweet.
Stuck in Tiger into MBP and it tells me I can't install this, to this computer (being my MBP) Fair enough. Looked in Startup in preferences. No disc showing. Tried holding down C, on reboot, it went straight to my usual log in and didn't start from disc.
Tried this on the first OS X disc too. This let me open this disc. But it won't run it and same result with Startup and holding down C.
    My Questions.
How can I get my MacBook Pro to show the OSX disc in start up so I can boot from it?
How can I get the MBP to Boot from Disc?
How can I Install OSX to my G4 from my lap top?
Help if you can. This has been the bane of my week!
    Jamie

It might work. G4 on its way out previous is that for some reason it will power on, hard drive spins, no sign of life from screen, no Apple chimes, no nothing.
I can't force open disc drive with C key or do Command Option F O thing. It won't pop out. I have tried changing battery reseting PSU. Removed USB cards, etc. Memory chips.
The only thing I have not done is try re-installing system discs to it. Which I can't as I can't open the drive.
So I was going call my insurers and get them to take it away and I bought a external 3.5 inch caddied to pop my drive into so that I could remove any files I might need. Then it dawned on me that maybe I could reinstall through the the caddie onto my G4 internal drive. Which I now know I can't
So I may try the clone option as final stand against the machine.
How would one clone system disc to another drive?
    thanks again,
    Jamie

  • Will the Win 7 Upgrade work on a fresh install on an MBP?

    Hello,
If I want to install Windows on a new partition on my MacBook Pro, will it work if I use the Microsoft Windows 7 Professional UPGRADE (found on this page http://www.microsoft.com/student/office/en-au/default.aspx)?   Meaning, do I need to have a previous version of Windows already installed for this to work (since it says Upgrade)?
Is there a specific version of Windows 7 that I need to be able to run XP programs on the MBP?   For example, Ultimate, Professional, Home?
Should I get the 32-bit or the 64-bit version and why?
    Many thanks!

    Hi,
I'm not sure whether it's legal, but it's possible to use the upgrade version of Windows 7 to perform a clean install.  Simply install it once, then re-install over the top.  The second time you do it, it'll recognise that you've installed over a previous installation of Windows, and properly accept an upgrade license key.  I've done it and it works.  For more details, just Google
Regarding XP in Windows 7: go to the Microsoft website and look up a comparison of the various Windows 7 versions - you should see that only some have the Windows XP Compatibility option.
As for 64-bit or 32: it depends. Windows 7 is not so forgiving (as OS X) when it comes to using 32 bit drivers with the 64 bit OS, so that, in my case, I can't use a piece of external sound hardware with Windows 7 64-bit because the drivers are only available for the 32-bit version.  So, you'll have to examine your needs and see whether 64-bit would break anything vital.
    Good luck,
    S.

  • Install Yosemite on MBP in Target Modus

    Hello all!
I tried to update my MBP from 10.9 to 10.10 but the install is hanging and not finishing. I have to finish it by pressing the ON/OFF button for some seconds. No repair possible in target modus.
Now I wanted to reformat the FusionDrive (SSD 249.7 GB - HD 749.8 GB). I made in my shell the command:
diskutil cs create FusionDrive disk3 disk4
    With command
    diskutil cs list
the FusionDrive is showing with "Logical Volume Group" and two "Physical Volumes". But I am unable to mount this volume to make a clean install in Target Modus.
    Any Help?
    Thank you!

  • Vista SP1 Integrated install on new MBP (late 2008)?

I have never used Boot Camp before, but have found I still need Windows for a few programs.
I have a new MBP and wanted to confirm I can install from an integrated Vista Home Premium Sp1 32-bit disc. I read the Vista Sp1 DVD boots differently from a non-Sp1 Vista install DVD.
Do I have to find a Vista disc that does not have Service Pack 1 integrated?
    Thanks for the help!

No... You should be just fine with Vista and SP1 on the same disc. I have installed Vista with and without SP1 with no problems. Its actually much easier to have the updates on the same disc.

  • Screensaver installed on Mountain Lion still works with Yosemite but Attempting to install on later MBP it won't work with Mavericks or Yosemite

I installed Porsche's 911 Screensaver on my 2011 MBP when it had Mountain Lion.  It still works after upgrades up to Yosemite.  I attempted to install the same on my late 2013 MBP Retina (Mavericks and Yosemite) and though it installs, I get the message that the screensaver isn't compatible with this version of OS X.  How can a piece of software work on one MBP and not another?  The 2011 is 15", quad-core i7 and the 2013 is about as powerful but 13" and all SSD.  This is confusing
    Thanks for the help

so return it for another one if its within the 14 day return policy.  If not, bring it in for repair.

  • Missing guide screws for installing a second drive in my G5

Hi, I just purchased a G5 and went to install a second drive and found only one guide screw in the unit. Has anyone found an inexpensive place to purchase replacement guide screws? I guess I could always use normal screws with some sort of electrical tape on them but I would prefer to get the proper ones.
    Thanks.

Did you really purchase a G5 or did you purchase a Mac Pro? The computer in your signature is a Mac Pro, but perhaps you haven't updated your signature for your new purchase. Mac Pro has two optical drive slots whereas the G5 has one.
Anyway, the official hard drive screws for the G5 are here. Notice that they are incredibly expensive. Some have had luck with the drive mounting screws that usually come with a new drive.

  • QT not installed on new MBP?

I'm a Mac noob (got a MBP about 2 weeks ago) and I'm trying to open a .wmv file and I'm getting a message that tells me that I need to install QT. I check out my apps and I have QT player installed. Is that not the same as QT? Do I need to purchase a full version of the program? Thanks in advance to any all who reply.

http://flip4mac.com has a "beta" version of their software for Snow Leopard users.
If QuickTime player 7.6.3 is not in your Utilities folder you can install it from the Snow Leopard DVD (Optional Installs).
