Guide TV Show Names

Who progams the TV show names on the guide? The DVR does not work correctly because of the wording on the guide. For example MTV Real World, instead of it saying just Real World our guides say Real World "San diego" then "Chicago" or whatever city the show is in during that season, but now our DVR thinks it is a totally different show and will not record it. Same thing happened with Party Down South our guides call the new cast Party Down South 2 so the DVR did not record the show. I checked Direct TV, and Time Warner Guides and neither of them have this issue. The shows say Real World and Party Down South. This happens on other channels as well any time the guide gets too "detailed."

Like most things in life, it's marketing's fault and they most only care about their 'brand approval synergy' or somesuch drivel.
... and don't EVEN get me started on the latest nonense of slapping pop-ups or 'social content' into existing content and trying to pass them off as new episodes. i.e, Naked and Afraid becoming Naked and Afraid Pop-Up Edition, The Little Couple becoming The Little Couple Big Updates)
Repeats w/tweets that add no value except to the people who's tweets make the show.

Films can currently only be downloaded once from the store, which I think is a requirement from the film distributors, so they won't show in the Purchased section for re-downloading. Have you not got a backup of it on, for example, an external drive or CD/DVD ?

How can I make Address Book show names as (Last-comma-First)?

I tried to tack this onto an old thread, but I'll try here again. Is there a way to show names in the Address Book as "Last-comma-First."? I understand about switching Last/first but cannot seem to find a way to show with a comma. The addresses I imported from my other computer (windows-outlook express) came over with the comma, but how do I do it for new ones, if possible?

Using a comma in the name display was something that Outlook Express did. Address Book does not put a comma in the display and simply shows LastName FirstName. I think you'll find the the export file from Outlook Express was a CSV file. Commas were used to separate all the field names. However, actual name values are not stored with a comma.

Sync error for TV Show name

I have and apple mackbook pro sync'd to an apple tv and all works OK however, when I sync some tv shows, on the apple tv the TV show name is removed in the listing and is replaced by the word various. it only happen with some tv shows to the point I have three various playlists listed when I select TV menu. anybody else have this problem? I have tried changing the tv show name to little effect

Grouping TV Shows - ie TV Show Name Seasons Episodes

I am seeing in Apple TV under TV Shows:-
Stargate SG-1 - Season 1
Stargate SG-1 - Season 2
etc
The West Wing - Season 1
The West Wing - Season 2
etc
Is there anyway to get the TV Show to pull all the Seasons together and just show the TV Show, then the Seasons, then the episodes?
The way I am seeing it now with several TBs of TV shows this is going to be a very long scrolling list.
Any ideas? Can I group them somehow by changing an attribute in the meta data?

Just got a new Apple TV 2 - it connecting nicely to all the Macs in the house.
I am converting all my video and putting it into iTunes (10.0.1) using iFlicks (a tad flakey) and Elgato Turbo HD H.264 usb co-processor.
All going well, quicker if iFlicks were more stable and stop stalling without any indication it had done so.

For my test I had "Friends" and when I did the multiple item dialog and put a "1" in the season field it displays the season on the first level. So when I view by shows it has "Friends" with Season 1 in smaller font underneath. I just saw that and wanted to add it to my post
This is the way most people view their TV shows list. However, the original poster asked how to merge the various seasons for a single show together under a single TV show name--just the opposite of what you are doing (i.e., dividing the show by season). In my explanation, you select all episodes in all seasons for a single TV show, open the multi-file Info window and remove all of the season numbers in a single action. Thereafter, all episodes for that TV Show will then display under a single TV show name and, if the episode #s are correct, will be listed in their episode by season order but not place a "header" between seasons as is done on the TV1 menu when season IDs are included.
For me, it is six of one and a half dozen of the other. For instance, the original Doctor Who TV series has 26 seasons which would make 26 Doctor Who TV show entries in the TV show list making it easier to access individual episodes for each season. On the other hand, grouping all 26 seasons under a single TV show name makes it easier to select an individual TV show but makes it more difficult to access a single episode in the "season by episode" list which now contains over 500 individual episodes. Thus, each user must decide for himself/herself which work flow is more suited to their individual needs. My only reason for posting was to point out that both options are available for TV show lists and answers the OP's question.

Show name field for two columns Fact Table joing by one Dimension

My question is about physical joins in Oracle BI EE.
Task is:
In a relational fact table "star" there is two columns Entity 1, Entity 2 and a table dimension Entity witch have two filds: ID and NAME. By loadind data fact table is filled with id for Entity 1 and Entity 2.
In a report made in Answers i need to show ID_Entity_1 NAME_Entity_1 ID_Entity_2 NAME_Entity_2
Question is: how to do physical join between two columns fact table and one dimension table entity so, that i can show name field in a report for both columns Entity 1, Entity 2.

You must Create an alias in the physical layer of your table dimEnsion and use it as a second dimension table.

Show names acting up on xygraph

I have a tab control layout in which an xy graph is on one tab and the inputs for it are on the other. Ive set up the cursors on the xy graph to show names, although when i add a cursor, then look at it on the other tab, i see the name twice, once above the cursor and one over top of it. If i tab back over to my controls, and then back to the xy graph, this problem is fixed and i can then see the name correctly, once, above the cursor. Same thing goes for if I switch windows to IE forinstance or anyhting else in windows. Sounds like a display refresh problem, but im not quite sure how to fix it. If anyone knows how I can solve this, please let me know.

1) Make sure you have the latest and greatest version of the driver for your display. Check with manufactuer of same for updates.
2) Slow down the graphic acceleration.
3) Reduce color depth.
One of the above almost always fixes this kind of problem.

My iPad used to organize TV shows by show name, now all the shows are in one folder.

When I used to sync my iPad with iTunes, all my Tivoed TV shows would neatly organize according to show name. Now they are all dumped into one folder. It is frustrating. How can I get them organized again?

To move a library from an old machine to a new machine:
Simply copy the old Library to the Pictures Folder in your new machine and launch iPhoto. There is no importing involved.
When you imported the old library you lost all the albums and imported all the duplication.
Do you still have the old library? Then trash the new one and start over.

How to view TV-shows names??

I have several movies on my iPad. These appear on screen with an "icon" on black background and text that explains which movie this is.
My TV shows however appear without the text, just an icon on black background, which makes it necessary to click on the "icon" in order to see which TV show this is.
Is there any way to make the text appear also on the TVshows section?

I am also having the same issue and am in the process of trying to find an answer to this issue.
I never liked all my family videos (few dozen) showing up as individual movies so I would label all my family movies as TV Shows because it allows me to basically create folders. I would just label an entire year of videos Personal Videos 20xx (show name) and it would place them in a folder named for that year. While not ideal, this worked great with my iPod Touch, but this does not work with the iPad. It still keeps them in a folder but the lack of a title make it less useful.
I am very happy with the iPad and have very few issues complaints other than the video program. It is just such a limited program which I hop apple updates in the near future. I can't stand the fact that you can only view the image of your videos only, why isn't there some type of List view also?

Honeycomb keyboard predictive text only showing names...

Ran a search for this topic and found nothing. I have a Honeycomb tablet (Lenovo IdeaPad K1) and the keyboard is set to show spelling correction suggestions (I'm a terrible speller) but its only showing names of people in my contacts, its not showing all the words that would be derivatives of whatever word I've started typing like my phone does. What gives? Is there some setting buried somewhere I can't find to get it to work like the spelling correction I'm used to. they way its working now its basically useless. Thanks.

Make Messages app show names and pictures by default in groups

Is there any way to make the Messages app show names and pictures by default in groups? It's kind of annoying to have to set that every time. I'm hoping Yosemite may add this option.

It should stay set.
Should be this Menu item.
To get the options to be dark and usable then Messages window need to be "front".
The Buddy Names item above is for the name display in the Buddy Lists.
If it is not sticking then check that you have Read and Write Permissions to the com.apple.ichat.plist in ~/Library/Preferences.
Since Lion this Folder has been hidden.
Use the Finder > Go menu > Go to Folder and copy and past the ~/Library/Preferences
FInd the File then Right click it and chose Get Info.
In the info Panel, near the bottom, your shortname should appear with (me) next to it.
You should have Read and Write permissions.

Excel doesn't show NAME in the brackets.

Hi I have a strange problem. Excel addin for MDS doesn't show {NAME} for a particular field. All other fields are ok, but one of them simply doesn't show the NAME in the brackets. This attribute is domain-based and is set up EXACTLY like other fields in
the same and other entities. The field is Org_Unit. Anybody have any idea?
P.S. This field down't even show dropdown list...
P.P.S. Org_Unit entity has 42 000 records. Might it be a reason???

Fluid Grid guides not showing

Anyone else having trouble with getting fluid grid guides to show? I've tried all the obvious solutions... Also, anyone having touble getting the "View in Browser" button to work?
