Guided Access browser unresponsive on wakeup

I am using iPod Touchs in wall mounts for my home automation system.  I am using a browser based application and I put the iTouch in Guided Access to keep it there.  When the backlight times out (I have it set to 5 minutes) and I hit the home button to wake it up then the browser spins but does nothing.  I have to exit Guided Access to restart the browser.  I can set auto lock to never but this means the backlight stays on all of the time.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
  - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Auto wifi reconnect in guided access mode

Hi - I am using an iPad in Guided Access mode for a kiosk. I am using a browser as the main application and everything seems to be working great accept when I lose Wifi signal I can't get the browser to refresh the screen when it reconnects to the wifi. I have tried putting code into my page that say to refresh every "X" minutes and it doesn't work.
Any ideas on a setting I might be missing in the settings area that will allow for an application to refresh after losing wifi that will bring the webpage back up?
    Thanks so much!!!

Inputting an incorrect password results in a 10 second pause before being allowed to try again
I wouldnt try too many wrond attempts though

  • Since updating to iOS 8 guided access does not work

I Was given a iPad mini at school to use for test taking on SofTest. Since updating to ios8, my guided access no longer turns on when I triple click.  But it worked fine before the update. I am not the only student having this issue. I tried resetting, without deleting all content. I rebooted several times, turned access on and off while rebooting, and still nothing.  Does anyone have any ideas or is this an ios8 flaw?

Are you still having this issue? SofTest's Guided Access seems to be working alright on my iPad, although I think there was a small stretch where it wouldn't work.

  • Guided Access no longer working

Ive used my guided acess on my iphone 4 with ISO 7.1.2 for my daughter to play with. Now it's no longer working. the triple click still works but it does not with the guided access. Any help on figuring out how to get it to work would be greatly appreciated. I've tried turning off triple click and guided access with no luck. I've also done a reset on my phone.

It is a wireless connection, yes. Every other device in the house works just fine off of this connection. The PC tower itself claims to still be connected via wireless, but is not. I don't know how to connect other than wirelessly, as the cable modem is in another room.

Connect the iPod to its syncing computer and restore via iTunes.  If the iPod asks for the passcode and you can't enter the passcode or if you do not have the syncing computer, place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore.  For recovery mode:

  • Guided access in iOS 8 on iPad air not working

I got an iPad air and after updating to iOS 8, guided access, which I use several time a day to my 1-year old son.
I haven't tried to reinstall the device, but I have tried to restore to factory settings and I have tried to turn off guided access, then reboot the iPad and here comes a strange thing. Before I restarted the device, I turned off guided access as earlier mentioned but when I rebooted the device, guided access was turned on..
Well I tried to see if it had helped, I opened Safari and triple clicked the home button and happily guided access started. I then stopped voided access and tried starting it in the Synology DS Video app where I normally use guided access. I triple clicked and nothing happens.
I tried going back to Safari, triple clicked, nothing happens.
Again I tried to turn off guided access, reboot turn it on again but it was already turned off.
As for now, my son can't use the iPad until a solution the this appears.
Anyone got some kind of solution?
    Have a nice day!
    - Mark

Guided Access had worked fine for me in iOS 7 on my iPad 3 and on my iPhone 4s. However, since upgrading both devices to iOS 8 Guided Access has ceased to function for me. I have tried hard rebooting both devices (turning off Guided Access first), and it seemed to work briefly on one of the two devices -- the iPad I believe, but then the function failed once again. And now I can't get it to work at all on either device. I do hope Apple fixes this relatively soon as it is critical for the fun that my toddler grandson and I share together on these devices!

    Hi shelli7911,
If you are having issues with Guided Access on your iPad, you may find the following article helpful:
    End a Guided Access session
    Triple-click the Home button.
    Enter the Guided Access passcode.

  • IOS 8.02 guided access not working for Ipad 2

Will the next update for iOS 8 fix the issue for guides access for Ipad 2? Issue; function not working at all. And when will this update come?
We have now tried everything we can think of. Reset settings, totale factory reset etc. This doen both on the Ipad and thorugh iTunes.
For us the Ipad got useless with iOS 8 as we us it as a visitor kiosk using the app SIGN IN. We really regret updating.... please fix asap

I can confirm that this works on 3rd Generation iPads.  But not 2nd Generation iPads.  I have found that if Guided access was enabled prior to the upgrade it might reset in this process.
Turn off Guided Access in Accessibility / Settings.
Hard reboot.  (Hold Home and Lock buttons for 7 seconds)
Turn on Guided Access in Accessibility / Settings.  Reset Passcode.
Anyone have luck with a newer model?

  • Access browser in full screen mode?

how do you access browser to brows photos when in full screen mode? i can see the film strip at the bottom but how do you go in browser mode to see all photos on screen while full screen? full screen was kind of wird to use at first so i avoided using it for a few months, but now i kind of figured out where everything is, except of this.

I am not sure, if I understand your question: Are you asking, how to get access to all items in your library for browsing while in full screen mode, or are you asking how to browse many images at once, while in full screen mode.
To access all library items in Full Screen Mode, display the inspector and use the Library tab of the Inspector panel.
To have a full screen Browser, switch to full screen mode while in Browser view.
For example, using the Inspector in Full Screen mode: (klick the button to launch the Inspector HUD).
And after switching to full screen mode, while in the Browser:

  • How do I turn off guided access if I forgot my password?

Can somebody help me? I can't remember my password for guided access and I'm stuck in my calculator app.

    I had the similar problem.
To come out of this do the following:
login to icloud.com with your apple user name and password.
click on find my iphone and select your ipad.
Click on lost mode and follow the wizard.
Now your ipad would be locked and you can provide your normal ipad lock code to unlock your ipad.
From here you can disable the guided access and enable it when ever you need it.

  • HT5509 Remove dark area in Guided access.

Is it possible to switch off the darker area that emerges in Guided access? That is, the screen looks normal but still has the touch limitations.

On iPhone 4s hold the circle button and the one on the top of the phone(as if you were taking a screenshot) down for 10-20 sec until the phone shuts off and then proceed to turn it back on. When the phone powers back on you'll still have to put in your code for the lock screen if that's enabled, but after that guided access will be turned off. Took me 45 minutes of pure frustration to figure this crap out being that I didn't even know I ha a GA password or that it would be any different than my lockscreen code. F*ckin rediculous I tell you!!!!!!
    But it does work, yw.
OH!!! and when you hold the buttons down it will still give you the messege saying you have to triple-click and enter your code, ignore this and slam those buttons down anyway. They are a decoy. And furthermore, F*CK YOU APPLE. That is all.

  • How to disable Guided Access in ios 6.0?

I am a secondary teacher and my students are using iPads in the classroom. I have tried IOS 6.0 and find that Guided Access is useful in some sense. However, I worried that if the Guided Access function is enabled by students, then how teacher/IT staff to unlock?
So, how to disable guided access in ios 6.0?
    Thanks

My son just did that.  He enable guided access and doesn't remember the password.  Now we are locked out of the iPad.  The screen won't lock and the ipad cannot be shutoff either.  It's just running down the battery and we happen to be at the hospital.
I think some tweaks to this option are in order from Apple.
