Guided access problems

My iPhone 4S is locked in the youtube app.  Guided access is enabled, however, the triple click isn't bringing up the keypad to let me enter the pin and stop guided access.  Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone know what I can do to get the use of my phone back?
It's useless at the moment and I work away from home every week.

Hi All,
Sorted, found the answer on another thread.  Just do a hardware reset - hold the home and power buttons together for around 10 seconds and when the device resets - you should be back to your home screen.  I have now disabled guided access and will think twice about using it again...

  • How do I turn off guided access if I forgot my password?

Can somebody help me? I can't remember my password for guided access and I'm stuck in my calculator app.

    I had the similar problem.
To come out of this do the following:
login to icloud.com with your apple user name and password.
click on find my iphone and select your ipad.
Click on lost mode and follow the wizard.
Now your ipad would be locked and you can provide your normal ipad lock code to unlock your ipad.
From here you can disable the guided access and enable it when ever you need it.

  • Guided Access (how to make areas transparent rather than gray?)

I'm trying to use guided access so I can read while holding the iPad like a book = don't wish to have my thumbs changing the zoom and place I'm at in the trext...
When I set up Guided access for this and mark off regions for my thumbs they show up as gray regions which is annoying. Is there a way to make them clear, or even better another solution for this problem as guided access seems rather flacky at times. Thanks

    Hi all,
I've this quiestion too. My target is make it for eBook reader, such as (reading pdf). Or any 3rd parties apps can't do it? Thanks a lot.

  • Guided access unavailable.please contact your administrator

How do I get a sign that says... Guided access app unavailable. Please contact your administrator.  Off my screen

Had a similar problem. I remotely turned on guided access, but some of the iPads did not have the app that was suppose to load on.
Here is how I was able to fix it.
    1. In your Mobile Management system tell the iPad to repair.
    2. On the device turn on guided access, even though you turned it on it didn't seem to work.
    3. Reset the iPad, holding both sleep and home button.
    4. I waited a few minutes and turned it back on and I was set.
This worked on the two devices that I have tried it on. The first I completely removed the device from the management system, but did not need to do that because the second time I only repaired the iPad.

  • Guided Access in Facetime gone since iOS 8 ?

SInce my update to iOS 8 it is not possible to enter Guided Access mode whilest in a Facetime call.
is this a problem with my iPad, or a new setting in iOS 8 ?
This option is particularly usefull to facetime with my child to my parents.
The kid is too young to understand the concept of a touch screen, and keeps pushing the noses of his grandparents on the screen :-)
And of course the red button when it appears, ending the call...
Can teh guided access mode please be re-enabled for a facetime call ?

    Unfortunately yes.
I Have same issue . Spent almost 1 hour with Apple care support . Interestingly I was  told that Apple disabled this feature on iOS 8 while you are in regular or face time call . Yes you are hearing it right . You can no longer be able to enable guided access while you are on any type of call. I repeatedly checked with senior tech support person and she has some internal notes that it is willful change from Apple and not a bug .i wonder why Apple would do such kind of things . But hey, it's Apple . There should have seen something that would have forced them to disable it . But unfortunately  it's hurting me bad . I can longer give my phone to my kids for  a face time call with  their grand parents . Poor grandma . They are gone miss their grand children. my iPhone is going to be no more part of my family . It will be just my personal device for good   .
there are some tricks here which you might want to try . I tried all of them with no luck

  • HT1430 i have started the guided access and that time my ipod touch 3 battery gets over now i cant close my ipod or cannot restore it

i have started the guided access and that time my ipod touch 3 battery gets over now i cant close my ipod or cannot restore it

Without knowing what happens when you try to restore the iPod
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Guided Access Dilemma

I activated the guided access of my ipad and used it in one of the apps that I am a using right now, my problem is guided access does not allow me to get out of the apps that I am using right now despite the fact that I am triple clicking the home button. (Triple clicking the home button will disabled the guided access)

I've not used GA but maybe this will help... http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5509

  • Guided access wont work ios 8-ipod touch 5

when ever i triple click the home button and tap guided access, it doesnt do anything, the menu just goes away, its enabled in settings and it worked in ios 7 just fine.

You can try the standard fixes:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
That problem has not been reported here before so I do not know if it is a bug in the update

  • Using touch ID to end Guided access

using touch ID to end guided access works, however, if part of the Guided Access options used shaded areas( by circling an area to disable it) is on, the shaded areas remain on screen despite ending guided access with touch ID, however, this problem does not occur if I triple clicking and end guided access by entering the pass code. It seems that this problem only occurs while using touch ID.

When the phone is locked it would be nice feature to wake up the phone and unlock on touch of home button using Touch ID.
(Instead of pressing the home button).

  • HT4528 Why is the guided access not turning off on my iPhone? Plus, the home screen button hasn't worked since I bought it.

This morning I tried to turn on the guided access, which I quickly regretted. The home screen button on my iPhone 5 barely worked to begin with, so when it said "Guided access enabled, tap home screen button 3 times to exit," I knew I had problems. I turned guided access off, but my iPhone now will not exit the settings app, it will not turn off, it will not shut down, and it stays only on one screen. I am about ready to go to the Apple Store and find out what is wrong.
    Please help.

Go to the apple store and find out what is wrong.

  • Guided Access makes some app icons on Home screen dark

    Hi,
I've found that when I've used Guided Access on my phone, almost always when I come out of it some of the apps on my home screen are darkened. The screenshot below shows an example (please excuse my ridiculously colourful wallpaper!) You can see some of the apps that are greyed out are iBooks, YouTube, App Store & all the ones in the bottom bar.
It seems very random which ones go dark. It's not that the app need an update or anything, and the apps still work. Sometimes if I open one of the darkened apps & use it a bit, the icon will go back to normal, but not always. Anyone have any idea why? I know it's not a problem that causes any practical issues, but it just looks wrong & is starting to niggle me. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Yep!
And that involves moving them manually, which is what I do.
The OP wants it automated, I don't know that I want the device doing that.

  • IPad stuck on guided access?

I turned on guided access on my iPad, but when I triple click the home button to exit, it nothing shows up but a message saying 'Guided access is enabled. Triple click the home button to exit". How can I fix this? It won't turn off or anything.

You're right sberman, that is how it is SUPPOSED to work but the problem is, Guided Access doesn't always work like it should.  I use this for my 11 month old, and in the FIsher Price apps (and some others) once you enable guided access and try triple clicking the home button to end Guided Access, the screen just says "guided access is enabled" – (no kidding!)
Short of whipping the iPad across the room when the iPad is making tinkerbell noises with every gesture from a kid's app and you need to get back to work, you can force reboot the iPad by holding down the home & sleep/wake buttons at the same time for 15 seconds.  When the screen goes dark, press the sleep/wake button and the the iPad will reboot and you can use it again.
Hopefully Apple solves this bug.  It's potentially a great feature, but this bug really kills it.
