Guided access use for kiosk

I intend to use "guided access" for a single library app. The ipad is intended to stay on, however, if it remains idle for awhile if first "dims" and the shuts down. How do I let patrons restart it with out access to the Home button?

Once the iPad goes into sleep mode, either the On button or the Home button must be used to wake it.
The only option I see is to set time out to Never.

Auto wifi reconnect in guided access mode

Hi - I am using an iPad in Guided Access mode for a kiosk. I am using a browser as the main application and everything seems to be working great accept when I lose Wifi signal I can't get the browser to refresh the screen when it reconnects to the wifi. I have tried putting code into my page that say to refresh every "X" minutes and it doesn't work.
Any ideas on a setting I might be missing in the settings area that will allow for an application to refresh after losing wifi that will bring the webpage back up?

Missing "Guided Access" Feature on ipad 1

Has anyone had this problem? We have all 4 iPad versions but our original iPad 1 (1st gen) seems to all of a sudden be missing the Learning feature, "Guided Access" (in the General Settings under Accessibility). We use this learning feature for our 3 year old and 5 year old with Down syndrome who both love their iPads.
Can anyone tell me if there is a solution or quick fix for this missing feature? Or do I need to do a hard reset? The version that it's running says up to date, (Version 5.1.1), and if I'm correct, I don't belive there are any other updates for this original iPad.

Thanks so much - But, I know that I've used it before on my daughter's iPad (1st Gen), and had always used it because she was much too young at age 2 last year to understand not to press certain parts on the screen or the home button. Now that she's 3, she's very well adjusted to what she can't or shouldn't press while using her iPad, however sometimes little fingers still slip up. So, how did I use it before if it was only a iOS 6 feature? I know I can't be loosing my mind - there would have been no way I didn't use it before, we have always used it! How can this be?
I have all the versions of iPads, so I know there are many things the old 1st Gen can't do or handle due to it's limited OS. But, honestly - I know we used Guided Access!
This is making me think I'm crazy!!

IOS 8.02 guided access not working for Ipad 2

Will the next update for iOS 8 fix the issue for guides access for Ipad 2? Issue; function not working at all. And when will this update come?
We have now tried everything we can think of. Reset settings, totale factory reset etc. This doen both on the Ipad and thorugh iTunes.
For us the Ipad got useless with iOS 8 as we us it as a visitor kiosk using the app SIGN IN. We really regret updating.... please fix asap

I can confirm that this works on 3rd Generation iPads. But not 2nd Generation iPads. I have found that if Guided access was enabled prior to the upgrade it might reset in this process.
Turn off Guided Access in Accessibility / Settings.
Hard reboot. (Hold Home and Lock buttons for 7 seconds)
Turn on Guided Access in Accessibility / Settings. Reset Passcode.
Anyone have luck with a newer model?

You can reset your iPhone to exit Guided Access when you do not remember the passcode
Resetting your device
You can reset it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Restricting Access only for APPS account using SQLNET

Dear Friends,
Recently we have an incident that a functional consultant has cracked the Apps password. I don't know how.
Now what we are planning is to restrict the database access to only the dba team using sqlnet.ora file and its tcp.validnode_checking parameter.
However, the problem is that we want to continue the APPSRO(which is an Apps Read Only Account) access to them.
Is there any way possible to restrict access only for a particular database user account using sqlnet.ora
please help.

The proper way would be changing the apps password and meet the security requirements in these docs.

I got a new computer and went to transfer my itunes play lists over - and see that I can only transfer purchases. To make matters worse, in order to syn cthe ipod to future purchases it will only sync what is on this computer. Since I cannot access the old computer, I cannot "copy" the files as all the help topics are directing me to do. And just authorizing this new computer means I am going to lose all of my non purchased music and playlists. Can someone PLEASE help me

in order for you to save your CD music you will have to use a 3rd party extractor to put the content onto the new computer

Close ... before going for a specific Cisco app ... lets find out some details:
Host we need more details:
What is your server environment (Windows Server, or Mac OS X Server, or Linux)?
What security is implemented in your environment - as what is restricted (RDP for all or specifc credentials on all machines? Are you part of local admin group to the server you wish to connect)?
Does your environment Support CISCO IPSec connection? If so use Settings> VPN and IPSec tab to enter VPN details, if not then go with above suggestion. IF your restricted to RSA then either built in VPN settings or 3rd party app for RSA would suffice.
Finally, there are many RDP applications out there I use "Mocha RDP Light" (free minimal ads when launched not when connecting).

A belated reply, as the problems itunes has have discouraged me from using it much. If you uncheck the "read only" box, it doesn't stay that way! Next time you use it, the box comes up checked.

You can eirther I think go on ITunes or if you can get to settings you would just go to iCloud.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I think this is one of the problems Apple is creating by changing the OS so often. I had fomer colleagues at [a major aerospace contractor] who told me that so many original files were ultimately lost because of the deadly change in the "Save As" operation that they are now afraid of every OS update. Apple has badly damaged their support base with that very prominent company (they won't update now until they've fully examined and understand changes in the pre-conditioned nature of OS computer functions), and they are a whole lot less enthaled with Mac-related equipment/software. Can't blame them, I too used orginal files that way (as easy-to-use templates), and lost some important files before I realized what was happening (to late to revert). Companies should not have to retrain employees each time an OS gets an update, it's can be very expensive several different ways. They learned a painful lesson with that one. And because I'm now retired and don't use multiple devices, I need iCloud like I need a hole in the head... but I'm told there's no way to keep Apple out of my computer. Fortunately, because of major problems when initially installing Mountain Lion, one hold-over of the hardware/software damage I experienced was that iCloud can no longer access my computer even though everything else is working fine again. That was the only "good luck" I had as a result of that expensive nightmare.
