Guided Edit Development for PSE 10

I have guided edits that I have written for every version of Photoshop Elements up to Version 6. I am looking to convert these to Photoshop Elements 10 but cannot find any documentation on how to develope Guided Edits for Elements 10. I have approached Adobe in the past about this topic for Photoshop Elements 7, which was the first version to use flash for the Guides, and I was told that documentation did not exist. Is Adobe still not providing 3rd parties with the necessary information to enable them to write their own guided edits, or is the information buried in an sdk somewhere?
regards,
Steve

Going back to Elements 4, Adobe documented the techniques for writing Guided Edits (or in those days How To's) in the full photoshop sdk, then when Elements 5 was released the documentation was not provided (Adobe have changed the internal format of Guided Edits in every version of Elements they have released), so I'm now checking whether or not Elements 10 is in the same situation or whether the documentation is just not supplied at all. I'm in the situation where I have a requirement to write my own guided edits for elements so that I can add techniques that have been presented in magazines that are extremely useful, and build on the features of Elements. If there is no documentation, and hence I cannot write my own guided edits, then Elements is useless to me, and I may as well throw it away and use the equivalent that was supplied with the digital camera I was given as a present. I don't want to throw Elements away, but if Adobe are refusing to provide the facilities I need then I have no choice.

  • Personal edition/developer for XP Home edtn?

    Hi
Sorry for a very basic question but I wish to purchase/download a version of a personal database (8i/9i) and Forms developer which will run on XP Home Edition, this enables me to use an interactive Forms training DVD.
I prefer to purchase CDs and the purpose is for training, so the simpler installation the better..its the forms I want to improve on..not pl/sql or the database itself!
Anyone know of a straightforward way to do this? Website links/downloads etc..
    many thanks
    Phil

Officially Oracle is not supported on XP Home (see http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html). You can try to install anyway. Download the software (database + developer suite) from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/index.html

  • Problems with guided edit mode in PSE 13

I'm having problems with some of the guided modes in PSE 13.
The simple method for changing the  the depth of field does put a blur on my photos but the add focus area doesn't work- leaving my photos a blurry mess. The custom mode using the quick selection tool works fine.
The zoom burst behaves in a similar fashion - it gives a zoom burst to the whole photo  but trying to  add focus doesn't work.  I've seen a few other people commenting about this in various forums but haven't seen anyone post a solution.

Both effects are based on the same principle: you have a blurred layer copy over the original. The step you are missing is how to use the gradient tool to show or mask the blurred layer. To better understand, switch to 'expert' view and look at your layers panel and especially at the mask in the blurred layer. You'll see that it's much easier and more flexible to do the steps in expert mode.
    - 1 - duplicate the layer
    - 2 - apply the effect (blur or zoom burst)
    - 3 - add a mask to the blurred layer
    - 4 - select the mask (Alt click in the mask icon, this makes the blank mask visible in the display area)
    - 5 - use the gradient tool (or any other painting tool) to show/reveal what should be blurred or not.
Your problem may be due to the use of the gradient tool. Be sure the default background/colors are set to default (Click D for white on black)

  • How to view NEF (RAW) photos when in editing mode for PSE 9

When I want to open a NEF photo to edit, all I cannot see the actual photo.  I have to go into another program to view the photos so that I can determine which file name I want to open and edit.

In the editor, go to Help >Updates and see if it updates camera raw for you.

  • PSE 11 Guided Edit will not initialize

I've installed PSE 11 on my iMac running OS 10.7.5. Guided edit hangs after initializing about 75% when I try to run it from my main user (administrator) account. It works fine from a second user account. Does anyone have any ideas about getting it to run from my main account? That's where all my photos and other data is. I tried a re-install, and that didn't help.

Well, it took me two days to find where you put this.   So far the adobe system just seems to be delighting in setting up mazes and hoops for its users when they have questions.  I'm just looking for some help with my problem.

  • Is Standard Edition free for development purpose

    Hello,
I am using Oracle 10g express edition on a 32-bit Redhat Enterprise Linux 4. My test database have come upto 2gb and after that the database stopped working. I have been told to change to 64-bit OS through forums because of the 2gb file size limitation for 32-bit OS. When I checked the Oracle downoad site, there is no 32-bit Oracle express edition 10g. There is a 64-bit Oracle standard edition. Is Oracle 10g Standard Edition free for development purposes? What about Oracle 11g Standard edition?

All Oracle software, though, is available for download from OTN with a license that allows you to prototype your application. Once the application is beyond the prototype phase, you'd need to purchase an appropriate license for your development environment, but you may just be looking at prototyping...
As well, note that the database size and RAM restrictions in the express edition would not be expected to change if Oracle ever released a 64-bit version. The whole point of those restrictions is to ensure that the free express edition doesn't cannibalize sales of the standard edition databases.

  • Elements 11 for Mac: "Guided Edits" stuck on "Initializing"

I purchased and downloaded Elements 11 for Mac. I opened the Photoshop Elements Editor, opened a photo and clicked on the "Guided" Tab. It then said "Initializing" and has been stuck there. I deleted and re-download and installed the program - but the same problem occurs. Also - the welcome screen is non-existant...Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

The welcome screen is a separate program, and unless you deliberately launch it, either from the button in the last screen of the installer or from here:
you won't ever see it. If you want to always start from the welcome screen for some reason (can't think of a good one), launch it from applications and then before you click anything in it, choose Keep in Dock from the dock icon's contextual menu. But it's simpler just to make a dock shortcut for both editor and organizer if you need both and forget about the welcome screen entirely.
For your problem with guided edit, do you have any kind of antivirus or anything from Symantec on your mac? If so, disable it and try uninstalling/reinstalling with it off.

  • Guided Edit conflicts w/ Extractions PSE 10

I've been working on two things: putting people on new backgrounds and improving the looks of those same people using Guided Edit's Perfect Portrait. As soon as I click on Apply Smart Blur, garbage appears in areas I had removed. This picture is one example of what I'm getting: Its discouraging! I've tried doing the Guided Edit first but when I do, I loose all of the changes when I separate the image from the background. I'm using a PC with Windows 7, and PSE 10. Janet

I've tried doing the Guided Edit first but when I do, I loose all of the changes when I separate the image from the background
Does it happen if you flatten after running the guided edit?

  • Guided Edit "out of bounds" does not work for PSE13 in Yosemite

  • PSE9 Quick edit and guided edit have disappeared

Hi everyone, hope you can help me.
I downloaded an action, followed the installation advice and installed the action BUT then when I clicked the guided and quick edit tabs (which were kind of ghost letters), there's just blank panels.
The process for downlaoding the action I followed is here:
If you don’t see your action, click on the Filters button, which is the first button on the left under the word Effects. Then, click again on the Photo Effects Button. It really should be there now. If it is, stop now. You’re finished!
If you still don’t see your action, navigate to the 9.0 folder in the path above. Rename the ThumbDatabase.DB3 to anything you choose. You could add today’s date or “version 1″.
Open the Locale folder that is in the same9.0 folder. Open the en_US folder and rename the MediaDatabase.db3 file following the same method used in step 6. (Rather than renaming ThumbDatabase and MediaDatabase, you can actually delete them if you are comfortable with that, or cut them and paste somewhere safe until you know that PSE is working fine.)
Open PSE 9. The opening process will be quite slow as the two databases are being rebuilt. Open an image.
Click on the Photo Effects button (3rd from the left under the word Effects). In the drop-down list to the right of this button, select Show All.
You should be able to find your new action now. If you can’t, see Gotchas section below.
I think point 4 is the problem.
I emailed the place I got the action from:
    http://www.texaschicksblogsandpics.c...shop-elements/
but so far have had no response.
can anyone tell me how to restore quick and guided edit?
    Thanks very much!!

    Thanks Ken,
    I tried that without success,
I also heard back from where I got the download and they said downloading the action will not have caused the problem.
I will uninstall and reinstall from the disc.

  • Where is the Edit Develop Settings option???

    Hi all
I am doing some study for my Photoshop ACE exam with the help of a study guide (ACE Exam Aid).
One of the questions it asks is:
You have saved the current image settings as a preset in Camera Raw and want to apply it in part or whole to selected raw files in bridge. What should you do?
The answer turns out to be: Choose Edit > Develop Settings and then select preset by name.
Now for the life of me I can't seem to find this Edit > Develop settings option in Photoshop, Camera RAW or Bridge!
Any help would be greatly apprecaited.

Highlight an image in bridge, then simply go to edit and it is the 11th choice down in the list.

  • Photoshop Elements 10: Guided Edit options missing.

My Full Edit is working just fine...however, when I click on Quick or Guided Edit, the options for editing are all missing.
(These are the edits that come up on the right hand side.) I don't know if I clicked on something to make them go away...but
I have tried clicking on, "Reset Panel" a few times thinking that might work...but nothing has changed. Any idea on how to get
the editing options back on the screen? Thanks!

PSE 11 works differently. To delete the prefs there, go to the Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Editor>Preferences and click this button, then restart the program. No keystrokes needed:
