I follow these steps exactly but am confused by the last one....where is this? I cant see how to enable the services under the work and life events tab in ESS.
7. You process the standard portal roles for each process in the Design Time area. To assign the required users to the portal roles, proceed as follows:
a. Select the required activity.
b. In the detailed view, choose Standard Roles.
c. Select the required user and choose Add.
d. Select the required portal role and assign it to the selected users.

Guided Procedures in ESS/MSS
Could somebody let me know what exactly is the use of Guided Procedures in ESS/MSS packages.
Points will be awarded for brief answers.Hi Lina,
Guided procedures are basically for enabling access to multiple backend systems, consistently combining different types of services and applications into processes.
CAF Guided Procedures (CAF GP) is a framework for modeling and managing workflows using simple and user-friendly tools.
Also, GP supports collaboration, ad-hoc items, and offline task management using interactive forms. It provides role-based access to tools and resources and guidance through the workflows at runtime, thereby helping end users to easily identify and complete their tasks.
The following links will help you

Also we can know how you integrate existing applications and services into the GP framework
The below link tells about GP to ESS

Difference between Guided Procedures and Business Workflow?
Hi,
I'm new to workflows, so this question could be easy or absurd.
Is there a difference between Guided Procedures and Business Workflows? Or is this
the same thing with two names?
If it is different, when do I use which of them?
Could both use UWL?
Thanks a lot
greetz
chrisWorkflow is a technology used to support business processes. You can make workflows without thinking/doing business processes. When you do business processes you will always wind up using workflow technology. All business process execution tools should by principle use a workflow engine at least SAP ones do. Not sure about others like Oracle BPEL tools for example.
SAP tools like GP and BPM/XI use either Netweaver Java or Abap workflow embedding the technical aspects of workflow design and runtime into the Netweaver stack simplifying the business user experience as it relates to designing and running business processes. But designing and running workflows using workflow tools directly still is very muc an IT challenge. -
UWL Guided Procedures and Substitution Rules functionality - how possible?
We are using Guided Procedures with Custom Web Dynpro objects and need to utilize user/role substitution that is easily enabled in other AdHoc tasks using 'Manage Substitution Rules. Unfortunately when creating and turning ON a substitution rule in the UWL all Guided Procedure Tasks are excluded and do not show up in the substituting person's UWL.
Does anyone have any ideas of how we can utilize Substitution Rules in UWL for all Guided Procedure tasks/steps?
Thanks in advance
-SteveWHi SteveW!
The situation you're facing is the normal behavior from GP in relation with substitution feature of UWL.
Unfortunately GP doesn't support substitution as the other UWL connectors do.

I have go through some tutorial on guided procedure to perform process control.
However, the problem now is, after the guided procedure had completed all the different stages of approval, i need it to send the pdf form to the SAP R3 system and insert data to the database.
So far, i have created an interactive form.
I need to acquire knowledge on how i could allow the guided procedure to interface with the r3 system after the form is approved.

Guided Procedures and online interactive adobe forms.
Hi Experts,
Scenario : User have to log into GP runtime, When he clicks the first action it should display the adobe form. He has to fill the details and submit the form. This form is routed for Approver 1 for review. The first approver will log into portal, view it (UWL),approve it and sent for second approver. The same process happens with the second approver. After both approvals, a BAPI updates the data in the interactive form in R/3
All the process have to be done in Guided Procedures, then integrated with Portal at the end.
We have tried creating an Wdynpro Java app with online adobe form and executed successfuly in NWDS and also in Webdynpro content administrator.
issue:-
When we create a callable object(webdynpro app(gp interface CO)) in GP and test, we were unable to view the form.
Now our question is : what are we mising ?
Is it possible to integrate online interactive adobe form with guided procedures?
Is our approach to solve the scenario right?
any links or tutorials will be greatly appreciated

Hello,
I read that GP as a portal workflow tool is going away and being replaced by BPM(Business Process Management)....i want to know the key differences between both of them .....and i also want to learn BPM.....can somebody provide useful documents on it....
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Regards,
AnilHi Anil
With BPM, you have more facility to develop business process. You have a tool called Process Composer in NWDS, where you can develop using a high level interface.
BPM isn't complete as GP, because it is in initial versions, but SAP is going to increment this process
You can learn more about BPM in [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-bpm|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-bpm].
There are a lot of interest think about bpm there.
All the best

Importing Development Component - Webdynpro and Guided Procedures
Hi All,
I created a development component project of type "Webdynpro". I created callable Object in guided procedures and the Process is working fine. I want to import the same project into another Nwds (another workspace).
I tried the following steps.
1. File - import - Multiple Existing project into workspace.
2. Imported the DC.
I have already added all the Gp jarfiles. But after importing, and rebuilding the project, it gives me only webdynpro and components,views.. It is not showing me as a normal webdynpro project. It is not showing me the GP Api's, the "USED DC's". which i created in the other project.
When i am creating a new project, it is working fine. Can anyone please help me in resolving this issue? How can i import a DC (gp) into webdynpro?
Thanx and Regards,

Guided Procedures Life & Work Events Help Needed
Our HR Department recently saw an SAP demo of the ESS Life and Work Events, which uses Guided Procedures. We are now struggling with the decision to use Guided Procedures for the On-Boarding or if this same type of functionality can be delivered with HCM Processes and Forms. The biggest draw for the Guided Procedures is the u201Cchecklistu201D type delivery. Does anyone know if it would be possible to use HCMPF and have a similar u201Cchecklistu201D that the new hire can work through. I heard somewhere that SAP is moving away from recommending the use of Guided Procedures and is instead recommending using HCMPF.
did you follow this http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPHCM/Reusing+ESS+Java+applications+in+ESS+ABAP+Role?original_fqdn=wiki.sdn.sap.com As such work events are not delivered as such in new releases, you can reuse it however, check above.

Hi
We are trying to automate our internal form processes using SAP adobe interactive forms. These forms must be available online and must be routed to the relevant approvers and processors on submission.
Can anyone tell the difference between ISR and Guided Procedures and which one is the best to use.
Regards,
Michael MayisanaHi Micheal,
Please check the answers for your queries. I have adding all the info i have.
1. It doesnt exactly mean that the GP are only for Offline Interactive forms., they r for online too. but better suited for CAF appl. For this case we need, we will take the help of CAF GP i.e. Composite appplication framework GP. CAF GP is a framework for modeling and managing workflows using simple and user-friendly tools. As a part of the Composite Application Framework (CAF), GP enables access to multiple backend systems, consistently combining different types of services and applications into processes. In addition, GP supports collaboration, ad-hoc items, and offline task management using interactive forms. It provides role-based access to tools and resources and guidance through the workflows at runtime, thereby helping end users to easily identify and complete their tasks
2. As to my implementation the form cannot be rendered on the front-end without any extra web-dynpro development when using GP. Like ABAP Webdynpro iviews can than be integrated with portal. and hence portal is used as front end.
Pls chk the below link
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e0957cb6-5103-2a10-6d9d-a0a4d68c8bf1
3.Example as such , might be a general MSS/ ESS implementation but check out this blog for such scenario
Guided Procedures explorations: Scenario using Interactive Forms and Visual Composer
Hope this helps you and hope i was clear .
GoodLuck!

Hello All,
I am currently working on the Customer Master Prototype and am concerned with developing Guided Procedure and Dynpro Components for the same.
Since last week I have been facing an issue with Enterprise Portal. Earlier when i would log on to portal and then click on Design Time it would throw a dump "java.lang.NosuchMethodError" com.sap.caf.gp.eu.ui.<Method Name>.
To resolve this error i went through the stack trace and noted down the Active DC's that are causing problems. I then logged on to NWDS and in the Active DC's tab, scrolled down to the corresponding DC's and did a sync archive. After which i deployed the DC's and it stopped throwing the dump.I went on with the development of the GP till the block level. At the block level when i try to group the
parameters, it throws a dump again.I tried the same way to find the Active DC's and re-sync them but this time the approach did not work and it still throws an error when i try to group the parameters. This also causes the SDM to restart or stop randomly,The error that i am getting is.
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: com.sap.caf.eu.gp.model.pfw.cons.IParamStructure.canCreateGroup(Lcom/sap/caf/eu/gp/model/pfw/cons/IParameter;)Z
Pls suggest any help will be highly appretiated.
Thanks in advance.

Problem in mapping -Guided procedures
Hi All,
I have a interactive form parameter called Price of type decimal in Guided procedure, and i have a BAPI parameter StdPrice of type decimal. when i tried to group these two parameters the "Group" button gets disabled. When i tried by checking Ignore types i was able to group the parameters but once i save the action and look back its ungrouped again.
Is there any difference between the BAPI decimal parameter and Adobe interactive form decimal parameter?
Note : EP Version 7.0 and SP13, Adobe Live Cycle Designer 7.1
With Regards,
Gopal. The problem turned out to be in the php code.
Here's how I changed it
<?php
require_once ('C:/webtools/zendframework/zf/library/Zend/Amf/Server.php');
$server = new Zend_Amf_Server();
// the following methods provide the lazy loading of services and value objects
$server->addDirectory( realpath(dirname(__FILE__) . "/../services/") );
$server->addDirectory( realpath(dirname(__FILE__) . "/../vos/") );
echo($server->handle());
?>
Earlier I wasn't taking into account the change of directories for service and value object files.
Thanks and Regards

Method execute from the Guided Procedure
Hi All:
I have a web dynpro application that has a view Evaluation and this one has a embed view from another component. I´m using guided procedures and setting in the execute method a parameter that is linked to the embed view.
The problem is that in the view Evaluation, when calls DoInit() I´m sending these parameter to the embed view but I´m not getting any value at that moment. These means that the execute method occurs after the DoInit().
Someone knows in what sequence the methods are call, execute and Doinit(). Where can I set the parameter for the embed view so the execute method had been already call and the parameter set before it call the DoInit method.?
Thanks, regardsHi
I have two components component A with wiewA and component B with ViewB. The view B is embed in view A.
The view A has the call to the GP. I import the view B and I bind the interface from that componentB with the component Controller of the component A and this one to the view A.
and the view is linked to the Inerface Controller where is the execute method.
In the wdDoinit of the view A I´m setting the context values of the parameters I want to send to the view B. And in the wdDoInit of the view B, I´m calling a method that fills a table according to the parameter.
Thanks for the help
