Guideline to Creating Production Environment for BPC 7.5

Hello All:
Does anyone know of any published guidelines for moving a complete development environment into production?
We are upgrading to BPC 7.5 MS and are quickly approaching the stage where we can deploy our environment into production.
I've been told it involves creating a backup of your DEV environment and simply restoring it in production.  Is it that basic?  What are the manual adjustments needed afterwards?
Any input/insight would be great!
Thanks,
Nathan

No manual adjustment for this.
Using Server Manager you are able to do the backup into development.
Also with server manager you are able to do restore into production.
No other manual steps are necessary.
But this can be done once.
After that working in paralel with production and development to do backup into dev and restore it into production is not working any more because you will lose data from productiion.
Backup restore from Server manager is not a transport mechanism. It is really a backup restore functionality.

  • Highlevel information on creating a environment for self learning

I am new to SAP and hoping to create an environment at home for self learning. I have a strong back ground in infrastructure/ unix / systems adminstration/ oracle database etc. I was unable to find information at a high level how I can go about creating an environment for learning the SAP Basis and Netweaver administration. Can some one please clarify the following:
    a) Is it possible to get a trial version that I can use to install the SAP or I will have to buy a license?
    b) Since, I am not using it for production - can I renew this trial version by changing the date or there are ways to request new trial keys?
    c) Can you please provide the list of all the softwares that I need to install to get a full SAP environment setup?
Edited by: neeraj mendiratta on Dec 26, 2007 1:58 PM

    Hi,
You can buy the IDES version online. See the below thread:
    http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.biztalk.general&tid=4a9dac5f-0e74-4422-aef5-aa2bcc7b3831&p=1
Have a look at any search site where in you can find lot many sites to purchase SAP IDES.
However, you can simulate the landscape. If you buy the license, you will have access to SAP market place, download the latest patches and also look for solutions.
Also, all the software that are required (apart from the OS) are bundled in the package. You need not buy any on the shelf software additionally.

  • Migration from development to production environment for SAP Netweaver BI

    All,
When I created a SAP Netweaver BI connection using BeX query in BW development environment, the system is defaulted to the BW development environment. Since the system textbox can't be modified to use a variable to point to production environment, can you share how you migrate your SWF file to production environment and ensure that it points to the BeX production query?
    Thanks for sharing ....

  • How to create production order for multiple items having common raw materia

    Dear all,
We are running a sheet metal fabrication company at Vadodara Gujrat.
Please guide us how to create single production order for multiple items using single raw material??
For example, We want to produce baby shirt(item code AAA001), shirt with full sleeve(item code AAA002), shirt with half sleeve(item code AAA003),shirt slim fit (item code AAA004),shirt loose fit(item code AAA005) from single raw material say(item code XXX001).
Right now we have to create 5 production order to produce above 5 items of single sales order  in SAP B1 though it is made from single raw material which is foolishness and time consuming too. (Please also note that to produce any finfish good item, raw material required for that item may vary every time in our process.)
Kindly guide us how to solve the problem.
    Thanks.

    Hi Rupesh Gorashiya,
This is possible through MRP for that you have to put Sales Order first and Run MRP Wizard
MRP Wizard Put Multi Production Order as per Item Taking in Sales Order just click it on and execute.

  • How to create production version for multiple BOM & Routing ?

    If I have 3 BOMs ( A, B & C ) and 2 Routing ( 1 & 2 ) for material XYZ then how then production version will be created ? I feel that there will be 6 PVs.
    combination of A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 & C2. but some one told me that  I have to create duplicate routing of 1 & 2
with number 3 & 4 and use it for bom B, and another duplicate Routing with number 5&6 and use it for BOM C.
in this case my PV data will be like this A1, A2, B3, B4, C5, C6.
Please guide me which way is correct. I feel that the first way is right, because in that case I have 2 routing in system, and in second way I have total 6 routings for that product. please guide me.

    Hi Archana
If you are doing component allocation with routing ,
routing for material 1  counter 1 you are choosing alternate Bom  1 or 2 for material.
similarly for Material 1 counter 2 you are choosing alternate Bom 1 0r 2 according to your choice
like this   3 routing groups will get created with each have 2 counters
if you allocate similar kind of material in one group in material allocation tab & you are going for component allocation it will assign one material bom.
second material bom will not get assigned to the operation.
if you are not going assign the component at the routing level than you can follow first process.
if you are planning to allocate components at routing level than you have to follow second process.
If have any more doubt kindly revert back with your query.

  • Creating Boot Environment for Live Upgrade

    Hello.
I'd like to upgrade a Sun Fire 280R system running Solaris 8 to Solaris 10 U4. I'd like to use Live Upgrade to do this. As that's going to be my first LU of a system, I've got some questions. Before I start, I'd like to mention that I have read the Solaris 10 8/07 Installation Guide: Solaris Live Upgrade and Upgrade Planning ([820-0178|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-0178]) document. Nonetheless, I'd also appreciate pointers to a more hands-on documentation/howto reg. live upgrade.
The system that I'd like to upgrade has these filesystems:
    (winds02)askwar$ df
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
    /dev/md/dsk/d30 4129290 684412 3403586 17% /
    /dev/md/dsk/d32 3096423 1467161 1567334 49% /usr
    /dev/md/dsk/d33 2053605 432258 1559739 22% /var
    swap 7205072 16 7205056 1% /var/run
    /dev/dsk/c3t1d0s6 132188872 61847107 69019877 48% /u04
    /dev/md/dsk/d34 18145961 5429315 12535187 31% /opt
    /dev/md/dsk/d35 4129290 77214 4010784 2% /export/home
It has 2 built in harddisks, which form those metadevices. You can find the metastat at http://askwar.pastebin.ca/697380. I'm now planning to break the mirrors for /, /usr, /var and /opt. To do so, I'd run
    metadetach d33 d23
    metaclear d23
d23 is/used to be c1t1d0s4. I'd do this for d30, d32 and d34 as well. Plan is, that I'd be able to use these newly freed slices on c1t1d0 for LU. I know that I'm in trouble when c1t0d0 now dies. But that's okay, as that system isn't being used anyway right now...
Or wait, I can use lucreate to do that as well, can't I? So, instead of manually detaching the mirror, I could do:
    lucreate -n s8_2_s10 -m /:/dev/md/dsk/d30:preserve,ufs \
    -m /usr:/dev/md/dsk/d32:preserve,ufs \
    -m /var:/dev/md/dsk/d33:preserve,ufs \
    -m /opt:/dev/md/dsk/d34:preserve,ufs
Does that sound right? I'd assume, that I'd then have a new boot environment called s8_2_s10, which uses the contents of the old metadevices. Or would the correct command rather be:
    lucreate -n s8_2_s10_v2 \
    -m /:/dev/md/dsk/d0:mirror,ufs \
    -m /:/dev/md/dsk/d20:detach,attach,preserve \
    -m /usr:/dev/md/dsk/d2:mirror,ufs \
    -m /usr:/dev/md/dsk/d22:detach,attach,preserve \
    -m /var:/dev/md/dsk/d3:mirror,ufs \
    -m /var:/dev/md/dsk/d23:detach,attach,preserve \
    -m /opt:/dev/md/dsk/d4:mirror,ufs \
    -m /opt:/dev/md/dsk/d24:detach,attach,preserve
What would be the correct way to create the new boot environment? As I said, I haven't done this before, so I'd really appreciate some help.
    Thanks a lot,
    Alexander Skwar

  • SOA OSB Deployment best practices in Production environment.

    Hi All
I just wanted to know the best practices followed in production environment for deploying OSB and SOA Code. As you are aware that both require libraries from either (Jdev or SOA Suite) and (OEPE and OSB)? Should one rip the libraries and package them with the ANT scripts (I am not sure but SOA would require its internal ANT scripts and lot of libraries to be bundled, OSB requires only a few OEPE and OSB libraries) or we simply use the below:
    1) Use the production run time (SOA Server and OSB Server) to build and deploy the code. OEPE would not be present here, so we would just have to deploy the already created sbconfig.jar (We would build this in a local environment where OEPE and OSB would be installed). The code is checked out from a repository and transferred to this linux machine.
    2) Use a windows machine (which has access to prod environment) and have Jdeveloper, OEPE and OSB installed to build\deploy the code to production server. The code is checked out from a repository.
Please let us know your personal experiences with the deployment in PROD. Thanks a lot!

There are two approaches for deployment of OSB and SOA code.
    1. Use a machine specifically for build and deployment which will have access to all production environments (where deployment needs to be done). Install all the required software (oepe, OSB etc..) and use remote deployment for deploying the code.
    2. Bundle all the build and deployment related libraries and ship them as a deployment package on the target server and proceed with the deployment.
Most commonly followed approach is approach#1.

  • Production order for sales order

    Hello friends
I need information about if there is a way limiting the created production orders for a sales order.
Let me explain what my problem is:
For a sales order item with quantity 100, I can create  unlimited production order with higher quantities and this cause problems.
Users may create unnecessary production orders and this caused reproduction of an order item.
In standart, is/are there any customizings/configurations (and how I can active this/these control(s)) or user exits to control which sales order item is converted to production order?
    Thanks in advance.

    Nurullah,
Users do not convert Sales orders into Production orders. They may convert planned orders into production orders.  They may also create Production orders outright.
Anyhow, your requirement can obviously be met ONLY in an MTO environment.  There is an enhancement PPCO0001 which can probably be tortured into meeting your requirement.
In most companies, planners are made responsible for properly planning their products.  Most planners I know routinely review MD06 to see if there are any production orders that should be cancelled/deleted.

  • Usage of rounding profile in manual created production order

    Hi,
We are making usage of various static rounding profiles.
For each of the materials produced, the rounding qty can be different, depending on the workcenters used to produce the materials (but for one material, there is only 1 rounding profile possible)
This works fine as long as we create planned orders via MRP runs (rounds up according the values set)
However, this rounding value is not taken into account (proposal, warning, error,..) when a user creates a planned order manually via MD11 or a production order via CO01.
Furthermore there is no warning message or whatever at the moment a user is converting a planned order (with a correct calculated rounded value) into a production order and manuaaly adapts the order qty.
As were are talking about a few 1000 different materials, the production planner cannot know all by heart and the rounding proposal would be excellent.
Anybody an idea how to implement this ?
    Thanks and regards?

    Hello again,
    thanks for you prompt answer.
This would certainly solve our problem in case we would have always one and the same quantity to produce for a given material; but this is not always te case.
Perhaps it was not clearly explained in my first mail, but we would like to work with one (1) ROUNDING PROFILE per material.
Example, material A can be produced in multiples of 14; as such it should be possible for the production planner to create production orders for 14, 28, 42 , 56,..... pieces. When entering a order for eg. 25 pieces (= example the qty needed for a certain sales order), the system shpuld round to 28.
Other materials (having another rounding profile) are produced in multiples 3, im mulitples of 5,...
For this particular plant we have about 50 different rounding profiles in place.
So it somewhat logic that a production planner does not know all these by heart.
If you have a solution for this as well, please let me know.
Anyway already my thanks for feedback.
    Regards.

  • Production order for a multiple materials codes...

    Dear...
Could you please suggest me the SAP solution for the below production strategy.
This production process is of heat treatment. Actually I am doing heat treatment of Cast and Forge items. These items weights are in the range of 150 kgs to 40000kgs. For example I am having a 40 tons heat treatment furnace. So at a time I can load the materials upto 40 tons. I am having different materials of different sizes and chemical compositions.  But heat treatment cycle(Routing) is same. So I can load different types of materials i.e. upto 40tons for the heat treatment for which same type of heat treatment is required. Sometimes this may be a single item .. if the weight of the items is 40 tons. If it is single item...then there is no problem. If I am loading different items...and if execution process is same for all the items, then how can I map this in the SAP. So that I can create a single order for different Items of different materials and quantity. I need to do the confirmation of these items with respect to the same item. Please suggest me...how can we map this scenario into the SAP.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Surya.

    Hi surya,
As per the heat treatment process concern, total cycle time is constant, and load is also constant (if we havenot changed).
i hope u have defined workcenter formula and routing accordingly.
i think creating single production order for multiple material is not possible, instead of thsi, i would suggest one way,
    > Since u have to maintain stock for Heatreated items, create sepearte Material code for each item to be heatreated.
    > Create BOM ,Routing  for New Material code.
    > Acitvate Batch management for New Material Code has been created.
    >Now create Production order for each material to be processed in one cycle, Assign the Batch Number manually.Batch number repersents your Heat treatment cycle number and same can de used for traceability.
    >Confirm the each order seperately, Now the Heatrement process cost will be updated and stock will be posted to heatreated storage loaction.
But i am worrying about capacity planning and scheduling, For my knowlegde purpose i would like to know your existing scenoria, like workcenter formula and  routing operation values has been assigned , if u wish plz share with us.
Please come back with your ideas..
    regards
    Pradeep

  • Use of Emigall for creation of masters in the production environment

    Hi,
The EMIGALL objects are normally used for migrating legacy master data and/or cut-over data before production environment is up.
I am contemplating to use EMIGALL object for creation of contract account masters in production environment. One more option that I have is to use standard BAPI for creating contract account masters.
Can anyone tell me whether it is proper to use EMIGALL object for day to day creation of master day in production environment. Is there any disadvantage or risk involved in it.
    Kindly reply soon.
    Regards,
    Ganesh

I've already used emigall multiple times to do delta migrations into an operational prod environment.
Purely looking at the functionalities, it should/would/must be possible to use emigall as a master data generator. I just think you need to look into the requirements:
who will use it? end-user/application manager/...
what's the amount of data to be loaded?
what's the time window of the load? Day/night
    how is the data supplied?
As you know, emigall EATS system resources like mad, so using it during the day might not be preferable. emigall is also very picky about the file format, whereas in a custom report you can define the input structure yourself.
On the other hand, the error handling and follow-up of emigall is great...
Personally, I'd go for a custom report with a BAPI... It'll give you more flexibility than emigall.
