Guidelines for new members

Post wisely. Bear in mind that whatever you have posted is your responsibility and you are liable for its content.
Always check the little description under each Forum board and decide which best suit your new thread. Posting in an appropriate Forum board will help to get you faster response.
Always use the Search first and see if there is a previous thread/post that can relate to what you want, and you may be able to find the solution you need faster this way than waiting for a response on the board.
When making new post, try not to use meaningless subject lines like 'Anyone there', 'Hello', 'Please', 'Help', 'Help me', 'Please help', 'Hi', 'Welcome', 'Look in here', etc. Please use a more appropriate title (short description of your issue and product you have) in your subject header to allow easy navigation for you and other users.
Do not reveal personal information in the Forum that you do not want to make public. This is a public forum after all.
Forum and any personal information that you post can be obtained and used by anyone. Anything you post in the Forum, you post at your own risk. If there's really a need for getting personal information across to another users, you can always use the Private Message feature available in the Forum.
Some of the Forum board has a group of posts that always stay at the top. These are called "stickies" or "floated threads". Before posting a question, always read these stickies first as many problem can be solved with the information provided.
Do not post in ALL CAPS whether you are in the Creative Forums or in another general forum. It is equivalent to shouting or yelling and that's rude and annoying to people. Also, try not to post in extremely large font as that can be annoying as well.
Always specify your problem clearly and provide with as much detail as possible in your post. Details (if applicable) such as firmware version of the product, OS version, driver version, version of software that's having the problem, exact error messages that you have encounter, things or steps you have taken to troubleshoot, etc.. In doing so, you will increase the chance of getting a proper solution to your problem.
Learn to be patient and wait for other Forum users to post up their suggestion or advice. Bumping the post many time within a very short period of time will only annoy others and turn them off from helping you.
If your problem is resolved, do leave a Thank You message to show your appreciation of their effort. Also, it would be nice to mention again what you had actually did to fix the problem. This will help other users with similar problem to resolve their problem too and you will now spread your knowledge by doing this.
Final Note
As in all types of Forum board especially in a tech board, you will most likely see lots of problems posted here. Please do not view the problems you see here as a reflection on Creative and our products in general. Many people come to the Forum only when they do encounter a problem which they can't fix and most often even if they do happen to fix the problem, some don't return to let others know what did the trick or helped them. We should not forget that millions of people use Creative products everyday without problems, those people will not come in here to help or tell others what great experiences they have. The analogy that's often used here is that it's like "looking for healthy people in a hospital". If you were to spend all your time in a hospital, you might think everyone is sick all the time!
We hope you will find the Forum enjoyable and useful for sharing your experiences, ideas, tips and more with fellow Forum users.

Hi Leo,
for beginner netbeans is the best solution. This ide provide the best graphical representation and flow chart of mobi app. I suggest if u want to develop a mobile application then u should go for netbeans but if u want to develop game then I dont think netbeans is the limit. if u want a small 2d game then its ok but if u want somthing more then i think u should learn core j2me apis and develop it by ur own and compile and package it using sun wireless toolkit 2.5
Although u should learn the basic of j2me read some documentation work on sample app comes with netbeans ans swtk.

    Hello, my name is Leo and this is the first time i try to do this so bare with me plz. I'd like to create a mobile application and after asking around and i asked A LOT, iv decided to use JavaMe. Correct me if im wrong but as I understand it, as long as a cellphone has java then compatibility is not an issue
    I have some background in java so can someone tell me where or how i should start? Do i use netbeans or i can stick to using jcreator or what? what else?
    Also, can i create a website that access the mobile application (from the above) after i hook up my cellphone to the pc?
    if not then can i just create a regular application and have it access the webserver and phone seperately then do somethin glike bringing data from both sides and displaying them to me?

    Want to create new protection group for 2 members which are already under another protection group. I have 12 servers under xyz protection group, want to move 2 members server to new protection group. How it is possible without loosing current backups.

    Hi,
    It all depends if the data source was originally co-located on the same replica shared with other data sources. If not then DPM will simple re-use the same replica and pick up where it left off.  If it was co-located, then the old replica and RP
    volume is shared and the RP's will expire as new ones are made on the new replica and RP volume created when it's re-protected.

  • FAQ: User Interface Guidelines for CRM 2007 are now available

    The CRM UI Concept Team has made the UI Guidelines for CRM Web Client User Interface (CRM 2007 UI) available to the BPX community:
    This document provides an overview of the on-premise as well as the off-premise versions of the SAP CRM Web Client User Interface (UI). It contains the properties and principles of the SAP CRM Web Client UI that are already committed and available. For planned features, refer to the corresponding specification documents.
    The information in the guidelines starts with general topics, followed by details. The sections are organized with high-level topics like Page Types and Navigation Schema first, followed by the consecutive sections describing which building blocks and elements of the UI populate the various pages. A section typically starts with one or more screenshots of a central UI element with a generic explanation. The subsequent sections explain the detailed aspects of each element.
    We hope that you will find this information useful.

  • Shared Review: Can't Check for New Comments or Publish Comments

    I am having a problem with a network file share (SMB) Shared Review.  I am not able to Check for New Comments or Publish Comments.  When I click those buttons all I get is the green circle continuously spinning forever.  Other members of my team are able to check for and post new comments.  I am able to connect to the SMB file share outside of Acrobat just fine.  I am using Acrobat Pro XI with the latest update 11.0.03.

    Try the following steps :
    1. Keep the review file closed and remove the review enty from the Tracker. For this "Go to View->Tracker. Choose the review file under the Review->Joined node and from right click options choose 'Remove review from Tracker'."
    Note: Do not remove the reviews which you had initiated i.e. those under Sent node. Otherwise, the review will removed from the server also.
    Alternatively, you can delete the Collab and Synchronizer folder from the following location:
    /users/+username+/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/+version+/
    2. Sign out from Adobe.com comment. For this "Go to Preferences->Adobe Online Services". and click sign out.
    3. Now open the review PDF again and login with the correct credentials.
    Hope, this will resolve your issue.

  • Project Lite License for Team Members not giving access to the PWA

     Hi there - So here is my issue I am having with Project Online 2013. I am new to project server ( I mean project online) & really having fun with it but MSFT can make it a bit easier to the Users.
    So we brought the following 2 licenses
    1) Project Lite for Team Members ( Brought this license after getting answer from previous question posted by me at  Previous
    thread )
    2) Project Online with Project Pro for Office 365.
    So I am able to access the PWA for my Portfolio Managers, Project Managers etc., Now I tried giving access to the Team Members and as directed by MSFT I added them to the group "Team Members for Project Web App ".
    I created some tasks in project schedule and assigned the tasks to the Team Members and published them.
    Now when My Team Members try too access the PWA Site , they are not able to access it.
     1 ) When trying to access the   ( http://tenant.sharepoint.com/PWA/Default.aspx)   which is the home page  I am seeing a webpart error with correlation ID.
     2) When trying to access the  Task through (http://tenant.sharepoint.com/PWA/Tasks.aspx ) where you see the tasks, the page gives me " Sorry you don't have access to this page"
    So now my question is how do I give access to my Team Members so that they can work on the tasks assigned to them in the PWA.
    Any help is highly appreciated.

    SP2013Dev,
    You need to Share the PWA with the team members to give them access. Please refer to my blog here. Hope this helps.

  • Are there any set guidelines for customer master data cleansing.

    1) I was wondering if there are any set guidelines for customer master data cleansing.
    2) Part of the cleansing effort involves consolidating number of divisions etc. Any pointers to this regard?
    3) Also how do we deal with open docs, billing plans etc?

    The data cleansing requirement will take place, while move the data from legacy system to new target ERP / system. I.e. need to cleanse, enrich, de-duplicate, & standardize.
    The existing data may not have consistent format since it is often being derived from various sources. It may contain duplicate information as well missing or incomplete information. Cleanse and normalize content to achieve accuracy, consistency and proper understanding of the data.
    Also it’s a process of organizing the data, which will ensure enrichment of your data which are up-to-date, accurate, and complete. These processes are manual / labor intensive and require a fair bit of specialization.
    If you need to have more details please feel free to interact with us as per below.

  • For New Guys, Simpleton pattern revisited...

    In the March 2004 issue of Java Patterns there is an article called "OO Patterns for Extensive Coding With OverTyping and Generic Exclamations". The article introduces the simpleton pattern, citing a similar pardigm in the C programming world. Using the simpleton pattern the following code,
    * Test.java
    * Created on May 14, 2004, 2:54 PM
    package tmp;
    * @author  awaddi
    public class Test
         private int _pNumberOfFileWritesInt;
         private int _pNumberOfFileReadsInt;
         /** Creates a new instance of Test */
         public Test()
              _pNumberOfFileWritesInt = 0;
         public void write( Object data )
              // write the data
              set_pNumberOfFileWritesInt(  get_pNumberOfFileWritesInt() + 1  );
         public void read( Object data )
              // read the data
              set_pNumberOfFileReadsInt(  get_pNumberOfFileReadsInt() + 1  );
          * Getter for property _pNumberOfFileWritesInt.
          * @return Value of property _pNumberOfFileWritesInt.
         public int get_pNumberOfFileWritesInt()
              return _pNumberOfFileWritesInt;
          * Setter for property _pNumberOfFileWritesInt.
          * @param _pNumberOfFileWritesInt New value of property _pNumberOfFileWritesInt.
         public void set_pNumberOfFileWritesInt(int _pNumberOfFileWritesInt)
              this._pNumberOfFileWritesInt = _pNumberOfFileWritesInt;
          * Getter for property _pNumberOfFileReadsInt.
          * @return Value of property _pNumberOfFileReadsInt.
         public int get_pNumberOfFileReadsInt()
              return _pNumberOfFileReadsInt;
          * Setter for property _pNumberOfFileReadsInt.
          * @param _pNumberOfFileReadsInt New value of property _pNumberOfFileReadsInt.
         public void set_pNumberOfFileReadsInt(int _pNumberOfFileReadsInt)
              this._pNumberOfFileReadsInt = _pNumberOfFileReadsInt;
         public static void main(  String[] args  )
              Test aTest = new Test();
              // write twenty lines to a file
              while(  aTest.get_pNumberOfFileWritesInt() < 20  )
                   aTest.write(  "a line"  );
                   System.out.println("Reads: " + aTest.get_pNumberOfFileReadsInt()  );
                   System.out.println("Writes: " + aTest.get_pNumberOfFileWritesInt()  );
              System.out.println("Done!");
              System.exit( 0 );
    }could be replaced using the Simpleton Pattern. Though the article was complex, I believe it raised some salient points, particularly in regard to many current idioms that new programmers are faced with. While the above code example demonstrates several principles that are important for new programmers to adhere to, a la "Ultimate Java Coding Style and Superb Idioms for Defensive Programming", the Simpleton Pattern utilises a different approach:
    class ReadWriteCounter
         public int reads = 0;
         public int writes = 0;
         public void write( Object data )
              // write the data
              writes++;
         public void read( Object data )
              // read the data
              reads++;
         public static void main(  String[] args  )
              ReadWriteCounter counter = new ReadWriteCounter();
              // write twenty lines to a file
              while(  counter.writes < 20  )
                   counter.write(  "a line"  );
                   System.out.println("Reads: " + counter.reads  );
                   System.out.println("Writes: " + counter.writes  );
              System.out.println("Done!");
              System.exit( 0 );
    }While the Simpleton pattern is useful, it has some disadvantages:
    When you sell your programmes, other programmers will be able to modify the internal state of your classes.
    Synchronisation of variable access can only be achieved by using volatile members, this is inherently error-prone as volatile variables are often guaranteed to provide semi-deterministic member access and may change the values of variables in common circumstances (never use the volatile keyword, it is dangerous).
    The use of C-like structs is likely to cause many programming errors, contrary to popular belief, int[] z; (z[0]+4) = 22; will not assign the value of 22 to the second item in the z array. Java uses object references, NOT ADDRESS POINTERS.
    So when is the Simpleton pattern a bad thing? In years of Java programming I have found that in 99% of the cases the Simpleton pattern is all that is needed, however, when referring to references of Objects that are shared between classes, the normal getter/setter is really useful. Consider:
    class ResultCode
         String value;
         public ResultCode( String s )
              value = s;
    class FileOperationA
         ResultCode code;
         public FileOperationA(  ResultCode c  )
              code = c;
         public void someOp()
              System.out.println("code:" + code.value );
    class FileOperationB
         ResultCode code;
         public FileOperationB(  ResultCode c  )
              code = c;
         public void someOp()
              System.out.println("code:" + code.value );
    class DirectoryOne
         FileOperationA a;
         FileOperationB b;
         public DirectoryOne()
              ResultCode c = new ResultCode( "OK" );
              a = new FileOperationA( c );
              b = new FileOperationB( c );
              // a and b share a reference to an underlaying object, not a primitive
         public void changeCodeString()
              a.code = new ResultCode(  "It's all good" ); // replaces OK as the message, but just for a
              // now a and b have different code values, wrong
         public void changeCodeString2()
              a.setCode( "It's all good" ); // replaces OK as the message, for a and b Yay!!
              // now a and b have (still) the same code values, right
    }The getter/setter is necessary because we aren't using primitives in ResultCode, we have a shared reference through a and b that references a reference, and because we want operations through either a or b on a shared ResultCode object to be visible to both "copies" of the object (they aren't copies, its the same object, two referents).
    Its a little complicated, but suffice it say that the jist of the article is to keep it simple unless you are really certain that you need the complexity.
    Andrew

    An object with just behaviour doesn't do much, in the
    case of an object with static methods that modifies
    data passed in via arguments (which, incidentally,
    seems to be the model you are suggesting), the object
    itself is simply a utility grouping and doesn't have
    any state to behave with.
    As I said an OO Object must have data and behavior.
    If it doesn't have data it is not an Object. That is not to say that you can not create code that does that, but rather that it is not an OO Object.
    Most objects have at least two kinds of values,
    internal values that don't compose the behaviour of
    the object, things like loop counters, computation
    constants, or intermediate values; not really data is
    it? There are also values that do compose state, alter
    behaviour, or provide information; things like number
    of logins, name of a data file, etc...Local variables are not Object data. Via the implementation code a java class (for example) might have member variables that are used to achieve some implementation goal yet are not actually part of the Object.
    >
    Then there is the actually interesting stuff, the
    raison d'etre of the object, values that represent the
    output of the object and, actually deserve to be
    called data: total monthly bill, number of available
    routes, installed packages, or whatever.
    Let's say we have three kinds of values; temporary,
    intermediate, and product or, perhaps, transient,
    volatile, and final. It should be pretty clear that
    any client or co-programmer shouldn't be concerned
    with temporary or intermediate data and that it
    shouldn't be exposed, however, it should also be
    pretty clear that the resultant data, or product of an
    object, should be (in fact, as I have been arguing)
    must be exposed, why else have the object in the first
    place?As I already said if most of the classes in the system expose their data then something is wrong with the design.
    DTOs are an excellent example of classes that expose all of their data. Yet in the total system, a single DTO can normally be expected to have 4 or more classes for each DTO. And those classes do not expose their data.
    >
    My arguments also come out against under-exposing the
    intermediate values in an object, certainly within a
    package, exposing data to related co-objects is
    probably not much of a fault, except where it concerns
    someone who says, "Hey, those values in Class Z could
    be modified by Class B!"
    Exposing data is always dangerous for two reasons.
    1. The original developer might not have know what they were doing and thus instead of creating an Object they created something else (like half an Object, or two Objects in one, etc.)
    2. The maintainance programmer might not understand the original design. Exposed data allows them to avoid this lack of knowledge. Thus instead of figuring out that the intent of the design or figuring out that the design must be refactored (after understanding it the first place) they use a kludge that the exposed data allows for.
    Of course, the proper response is, "Hey!! Don't modify
    intermediate values in class Z from Class B!!",
    problem solved. No patterns, programming paradigms, or
    rules of practice (which generally come out as do this
    or perish!) necessary. It is simpler, and because of
    that I would argue that it is faster, less prone to
    error, and more enjoyable for the programmer to work
    with as a result.
    If everyone was a perfect programmer there would be no problems.
    Since they are not, one must use what is available and what is practical to prevent those problems that are likely to occur.
    And given that the intent of most programmers is tomake money with their code (or expose it via the
    public domain) all of those people should learn how to
    write code in terms of other people.
    So exposing data is wrong for most of the people here.Clearly not true just because you said so.
    No not true because you disagree.
    Hard to tell what you are disagreeing with here though. That most developers want to make money and/or acclaim for their work?
    >
    >
    Nothing I have seen so far is even close tosuggesting that your hypothesis is correct. And there
    is at least indirect evidence that it is incorrect.
    This was a rebuttal to your original point that stated
    that 90% of development time was spent refactoring and
    bug-chasing, which I agreed with and pointed out that
    reducing code size and complexity by avoiding
    unnecessary code (designed to avoid data-exposure or
    designed for policy-adherence) would reduce the number
    of hours represented by "90%" by a corresponding
    amount.Again that is a hypothesis of yours. And current known scientific studies do not seem to support it.
    >
    You say there is indirect evidence arguing against??
    Yes. Goto's can make code more dense and yet harder to understand and maintain. Because of that gotos are no longer used. Your hypothesis would suggest that gotos should be a good thing in the language (because the code is shorter.)
    >
    That is non-sensical in terms of this discussion.
    An Object in terms of OO has 'data' and 'behavior'.The 'data' should be 'encapsulated' and 'hidden' by
    the Object.
    See the top of this post. Hiding your data is like
    saying we have your bill, we know what your monthly
    statement is but we can't tell you and so we sent you
    that blank one...
    Part of the problem is that a class tends to have many
    different types of "data". A local, temporary loop
    counter would be really difficult to work with if it
    was exposed and modified from outside the scope of an
    object.
    Again let me point out that your response is non-sensical.
    A local member variable is not data for the Object.

  • Guidelines for importing graphics from Photoshop

    Can anyone provide some guidelines for laying out a DVD menu design in Photoshop to be brought into DVD SP? What physical dimensions? What file format? Anything else I should know?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    Sorry if it sounds like RTFM, but a good starting point is reading the Preparing Menu Sources topic in the DVDSP User Manual.
    Basically you can use PSD files and/or TIFFs, PNGs. Avoid JPG because you must be very careful with compression level. If you work with PSDs, remember rasterizing effects before importing in DVDSP.
    About the file dimension in pixels, this info is taken from the manual:
    A good way to select the right dimension is starting a new PS file and use the video presets. You'll get a blank file guith secutiry zones guides, and the correct dimension and pixel aspect ratio to work with during menu design.
    Hope that helps !
      Alberto

  • Rollup for new dimension values.

    hai,
    i've created some dimensions and variables and added values to them.set the hierearchies and performed roll-up for the corresponding variables.Everything was OK then.
    But when i add new values to the dimension at various levels , set the hierarchial information for them and stored the variable values for the lowest level i want to perform roll-up for the newly added values only instead of performing roll-up for the whole data.
    Any suggessions or guidelines are welcome.
    Thanks and regards.

    If you know exactly values you've added to dimention (for example there are days for new month, new department, e.t) you should limit dimention to those new values and execute ROLLAP or AGGREGATE command. In case AGGREGATE you can correct and recompile aggregation map to include only new added values. You can experiment with AGGREGATE() function to aggregate data on fly, but I've experienced very bad perfomance in case big variables .

  • New members of groups cannot access wiki

    Hey all,
    I've created a few group Wiki/Blog pages, but I have had other people interested in joining the site. I've added the new members in WGM and added them to the groups. When I try a test run to log them in, I am having no success. Their access gets denied. I've tried restarting the web service and the server with no luck. I've checked in WGM to see if they have actually been added and they are.
    I did also notice that there was a great jump in their ID numbers. Before the Wiki was started, the highest number in the group was 1041, but the later additional people began at 1077.
    Any ideas?

    Advanced Install and I'm running on 10.5.4 (I hear there are some troubles with the wiki during the upgrade to the 10.5.5)
    In Directory.app, groups tab, the "membership is not published". When I check the people tab, it says that they aren't members of any group. This is also true for all of my members though (even though in WGM they are in the group, and they can access the Wiki).
    When I click on the Edit button, there is no response in Directoy.app (we talked about this in another thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1713383&tstart=0). Do I have something in the permissions set wrong so that I cannot edit anything in Directory.app? On all of the pages in Directory.app clicking the Edit button gives me no feed back.
    Thanks

  • Unable to add some new members - "Pending_informed" in STATUS

    Recently, I created a workspace to which I am adding new members. Mostly without any problems, but a few have not received the invitation and receive ERROR messages when they try to access the workspace. They are all external members.
    Their info in "Manage Group" is:
    No record in name(s) and uid and Pending_informed in Status.
    I have checked that their email adresses are the right ones.
    Are you able to advise me in how to proceed?
    Many thanks!

    HI,
    The Pending _Informe4d users do not have account is the system with the email address you used. If they can log into OTN they must be using another account. If they want to log in to the system with those emails they will neded to get an account with that email address.
    The Oracle employee [email protected] does not exist in Aria under that name - typo?
    As for Firefox and edit-in-place. Not possible I'm afraid. IE allows this by connecting a network place in windows and then using webdva to write the content back to the file. Firefox does not have this capability. Try using OBEE - that will work on BeehiveOnline.

  • App Store Guidelines for UIBackgroundModes

    For more than two years my app was on the app store without any problem, now on the last update the app was rejected because the use of the background.
    Itunes Review
    We found that your app uses a background mode but does not include functionality that requires that mode to run persistently. This behavior is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.
    We noticed your app declares support for location in the UIBackgroundModes key in your Info.plist but does not include features that require persistent location.
    It would be appropriate to add features that require persistent use of real-time location updates while the app is in the background or remove the "location" setting from the UIBackgroundModes key. If your application does not require persistent, real-time location updates, we recommend using the significant-change location service or the region monitoring location service.
    My app isn't fit on any kind of app that can use background, but required the access to the background.
    The app is a simple live chat agent console that need to retrieve each x time messages from the server, when the agent are on a different app the app need to run in background updating the agent status and checking for new messages or chat request.
    The app use two UIBackgroundModes and works fine "location" and "audio" values but now I am trying to changing for a different mode like : "fetch" value but seems not working anymore in background.
    What should be do now, because the app is a simple component of a large system that is working fine at this moment on IOS , Android and BB but seems apple isn't allowed to update anymore if I trying to access the background?

    I don't know anything about the reseller, so I can't vouch for them. If you want to give iTunes cards to someone in the US, I'd suggest Best Buy; they'll accept non-US credit cards for US delivery:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Help-Topics/International-Orders/pcmcat204400050019. c?id=pcmcat204400050019
    Note that this will only apply to a friend who lives in the US. The terms of use for all the iTunes Stores prohibit their use from outside of the applicable country.
    Regards.

  • Mail constantly checks for new mail; downloads same emails repeatedly HELP!

    For the last three days (since 19th), Mail has been downloading the same emails over and over again. I first noticed a problem when about 20 spam emails that usually route to my Junk folder appeared in my Inbox. I thought I had just moved it incorrectly and deleted them, then they appeared again later.
    The mail jogger cycle (next to Inbox) keeps turning and turning like it can't stop checking for new mail. How do I get it to stop?? The emails are multiplying like gremlins in my Inbox and driving me nuts!
    Also, it only downloads new emails when I first open the app. I have to force-quit out of Mail, then reopen, and I will get a couple of new emails, and then ALL THE EMAILS FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS AGAIN.
    Mail was working fine for me until three days ago. The only thing I've changed recently is a Software Update on the 15th for QuickTime and iTunes.
    Please help! I tried to Repair Permissions and it didn't do anything. I also tried removing all messages from the server and that did nothing either.
    Mail Version 2.1
    THANK YOU ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME!!

    UPDATE: I think I got it to stop checking mail. I have Yahoo mail and I checked my email through online Yahoo. I was able to delete a bunch of emails and it suddenly stopped checking for email in the Mail app.
    HOWEVER, it will NOT remove some of my junk emails. I was able to delete over 100+ of them. But one specific message (which I now have 8 copies of) will not go away. It is one of those 'Delivery Status Notification' emails. Is this a virus??
    I've tried Erasing Deleted Messages and Erasing Junk Mail. Neither helps. These emails won't go away.
    Help please! I would be very grateful.
