Guitar cuts out while recording

Hi All,
I'm using Garageband and the Griffin guitar connect cable and when I try to record my guitar, the recording cuts out after a few bars. Useful stuff:
-original iPad and fully up to date iOS.
-cut out is random, though the most I've been able to record is 6 bars.
-when not recording, the audio is fine
-tried restarting my iPad - no difference.
Any help is much appreciated.

There is an improvement if you leave the amp setting alone when you start, turn of monitoring and the noise gate. About 3 times out of 4 I can record 8 full bars this way. I haven't tried recording any longer passages yet. Not really a solution, but slightly better. . . .

Why does Audition temporarily "cut-out" while recording?

I have a Bought and paid for registered version of AA3. When recording a voice over through my mixer everything works fine, but when recording for an extended period of time 5+ mins, the audio has dropouts. (Complete silence staggered, flange like effect, ect.) I have changed my sample rate to 512 samples on my "Direct sound input ports" in the AUDIO HARDWARE MANAGER, per adobe support faqs. My short term recording works fine still but my long term has not got much better at all. Before this change it was somewhat of a flangy sound as compared to the current "cut-out" i now get. My inputs are all set properly, i have a laptop exceptionally qualified for the program. I need to record multiple tracks for an extended period of time, 1-3 hrs. of a live recorded podast. So far I've had to do my vocal copy on my laptop seperately and edit it in after the fact. My musical set has o be recorded on another comp with AA2 on it. 3 should not give me hese kind of problems and I would really like to hav them taken care of due to the price of the program. I am running vista 64bit with sp2, md turion x dual-core mobile rm-72 2.10 Ghz, with 3G of ram. PLEASE HELP!!! I need this machine to work for recording demos and such, this is for a starting out company and I need a solution.

Thanks for your quick reply. I am recording voice recordings from an audio cassette deck connected to ch1 and ch2 of the Konnekt 24D interface. I have only tried in Edit view with no effects as there is no mixing to be done at this time. I've tried at 44.1Hz and 48kHz.
Last night I did one more test in Audition, setting the buffer to its maximum size of 8192 samples, and in the morning found my 20 minute test had no drop-outs.
But your email made me realize that some of my tests yesterday were invalid because, after shutting down all the Startup programs in msconfig, I also did some troubleshooting of my laptop workstation power management settings and may not have set them back to "Never" kick in. So this morning I did a 48 minute test in Audition and got no dropouts. This tells me that the problem was actually resolved by my efforts to eliminate the resident programs. Thus, it has nothing to do with Audition. I was so tired after trying so many things, that I probably would never have realized were it not for your guidance, so - thank you.
I guess I will leave the buffer large since latency is not an issue for me.
As a suggestion - since this is such a common problem, why not have a troubleshooting checklist just for drop-outs, in the online help, user guide and knowledge base?

Monitoring Sound Out While Recording

Does anyone know what would be the correct settings in Logic Pro for monitoring the sound output while recording a guitar? In Garage Band, all you have to do is turn on monitoring and you can hear the throughput. I used to be able to do it in an old version (4.8) of Logic. Since I upgraded to Logic 7, I have not been able to hear the "real time" guitar while I record. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (By the way, I am using an iMic to connect to the USB input . I'm using a G5 (2.7ghz dual proc) PowerMac.

Mark - Thanks for your reply. Yes, I've tried experimenting with that all night long. I can see that it affects the output meter in the track mixer, but still no sound. When I select the iMic input , the sound does not route through to the physical line out on the G5. I can open up Garage Band and then go back to Logic and then hear the output. The problem with this setup is then after I record a track, you can't hear the output of what you just recorded without first going in and selecting the "built-in audio" setting of the audio options (changing from the iMic setting). I never had this problem with the ancient version (4.8) of Logic I used on my old iBook.

Music cutting out while using airplay

I just configured my Airport Express as a client to an existing wireless network. I don't know for sure but the existing network is probably not being provided by an Airport router.
I was successful but when I try to play songs via iTunes to my stereo, the songs are constantly interrupted. It will play fine for a few seconds or ten seconds or sometimes 30 seconds, but then it will stop for a while and then start up again.
I've tried reconfiguring the Airport Express, enabling Interference Robustness and restarting the Airport Express using the admin software and by unplugging. Nothing is working yet.
Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thank you!

i am reaching a breaking point. Things are going from bad to worse . . .
I moved my new AE into the same room where my other (main base) AE was, thinking that the issue may have been that the two were having a hard time "seeing" each other and thus were dropping connections. At first, this seemed to be an improvement; when playing songs through my remote (second) AE, the music was cutting out much less frequently. Instead of dropping the music every few seconds, it would only cut out about once a song. And it improved over time; by about the fifth song, it wasn't cutting out at all.
However, I then tried to play music through the stereo I have connected to my original (main base) AE, the problems started all over again. iTunes was totaly unable to establish a connection to the stereo on the main base AE. It would say "connecting to remote speakers", and when it was "done" connecting, nothing would happen. No music would play, and the status bar on the iTunes song would stay frozen and not move.
I'll note that at no time have I ever had significant problems playing music through my main base. We've had that main base for 6 months and been very happy with it's performance, except for not being able to get to cover the whole apartment with a reliable wireless signal (which is what I was hoping to remedy by buying a second one).
This also started affecting my internet connection! After having the two AEs in the same room for about a half hour, I suddenly could no longer get any web pages to load, and network speed in the OS X Activity Monitor dropped to below 10 KB/sec, even though I was trying to load several webpages at a time.
Thankfully, when I unplugged the second (non-main) AE, performance on my main base station returned to normal. I will continue to try and troubleshoot this, but the conclusion I am drawing at this point is that although the AEs work great individually, they don't work very well together. This is very disappointing, considering Apple touts how "easy" it is supposed to be to link these together.
I did read on another thread that sometimes the AE will just crap out and die over time. Perhaps my used ebay purchased AE is just shot.

Scrubbing audio cuts out while editing iMovie project

Hello,
I put all of the clips, nearly an hour, in the project, and am editing just by deleting what I don't want. I keep losing audio while scrubbing. Would having less video in the project window fix that? It came back just now by restarting iMovie, but cut out again.

• In iTunes copy out as an audio-CD .aiff
• Use this in Your movie project
2 Strange audio formats like .mp3, .avi etc.
• Change them to .aiff. Use an audio editor like Audacity (free)
3 Main audio is set to off in System Preferences - Does this by it self - Don’t know why

Had the same problem; some Googling around gave me a kludgy, but effective fix
Downgrade Perian from recent versions back to version 1.0.
That worked for me, and so far I haven't encountered any deficiencies—except it takes more advanced versions of Perian to enable QuickTime to handle subtitles in .srt format—that I have noticed.
5. GarageBand fix.
In this set audio to 44.1 kHz (Klaus1 suggestion)
(if this don’t work try 48 kHz - me guessing)
Before burning the DVD.
• Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
• Double click on the .img file
• Test it with Apple DVD-player
If it’s OK then make Your DVD.
Burn at x1 speed.... (or x4)
• In iDVD 08 - or - 09
• Burn from DiskImage with Apple Disk Util tool
• OR burn with Roxio Toast™ if You got it

Audio cuts out when recording in Audition 3

When I start to record in edit view the sound cuts out, but still records. After I'm done I can hear it when I play it back. The same thing happens when in multitrack recording. I record the first track which can't be heard until finished. Then when I go to record a second track, all I can hear is the first track and not the current track being recorded. I am familiar with Audition 1.5 and 3, but it's been awhile and just getting back into it. I've never encountered this problem before.
I have an Audigy 2ZS sound card and Windows XP.

Music cuts out while surfing the Internet

While listening to music and surfing the web using wifi or edge, the music will suddenly cut out. I have to start all over and find the song I was listening to. It usually happens when I move to a new page. It happens on all kinds of websites, even this one.
How do I get this to stop?

I have never experienced this as you have described. I have been podding and browsing and had the music fade out for a phone call, email, or text... but it always fades back in where it left off.
My suggestion is to do a reset by holding the home button and sleep/wake button until you see the Apple logo.. if that doesn't resolve the issue then try a restore from iTunes
If you are still having the same problem after that give 1-800-myiphone a call, or make an appt at your local genius bar.

IPod continues to cut-out while playing

I've posted this before, and I've seen other threads regarding this issue -- my iPod randomly stops playing songs and goes back to the main iPhone menu.
I was, unfortunately, forced to reload my iPhone last weekend because the world clocks did not work. After I reloaded, I found that this cutting-out issue stopped. Yay!
However, last night I added new songs (some from iTunes store, others from various CDs). iTunes found some of the album art for me, a few of them I had to add the art manually.
Today, I'm having the music cutting-out issue again. It has happened 6x so far (since about 9:00AM - so 3 hours). 4 of those times I was doing nothing to the iPhone, it was just sitting on my desk next to me. 1 time it happened when I was adjusting the volume and the other time it happened when I was changing the view so I could view album art (turning the iPhone sideways).
I've already turned my iPhone off and back on, hoping this problem would go away (it didn't). Please don't tell me that I have to reload my iPhone every single time I add new songs to my library.
Has there been any "official" response to this issue? Does anyone know when we're getting a patch for iTunes?
I'm getting pretty frustrated with this problem. My husband is experiencing the same issue, though he doesn't use his iPod nearly as much as I do. We spent $1,300 -- can we not get the basic functionality, at least?

Cutting out while listening to iTunes Radio using Airport

Using iTunes 7.0.1radio connected to a 24kbps station (WUMB) via an Airport Extreme wireless to my Macbook then to an Airport express connected to stereo...it cuts out for a second every minute. Doesn't happen when listening to other stations or to my music library. Didn't happen with my iBook. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Cracks and Pops noises coming out while recording on garageband using Boss gt-10

since I downloaded the new Garageband v.10 (Oct. 2013) and OS X Mavericks i have a problem now recording my guitar thro garageband using the boss GT-10, during recording, the sound comes out some Pops and Cracks.
i did turn off the noise sound and i been setting up in a clean sound.
does anyone else have this issue? does anyone know how to fix

i figured out that i need a new usb driver for my gt 10, it hasn't been released yet, and i'm not sure it will remove the noises that will resolve my problem, let's hope so, i've been waiting for the driver for a week. it's taking long!

ATV3 cuts out while playing radio

I have the latest Apple TV, bought about 6 weeks ago and have been using it for all this time with no issues. I believe I have all the latest firmware. However, lately it's started going dead while I'm using it. No known network issues or connection issues. It seems to happen while I'm listening to the Radio app. There's a brief flash of snow and then the picture goes black and the sound stops. The ATV light is still on steady. Even when I hit Menu and Down to reboot, it sometimes crashes immediately upon rebooting. The problem now seems intermittent and unpredictable. It might work fine some sessions, other sessions it will crash, even when nothing is happening and only the app menu is showing.
It was behaving so nicely, until this happened. What can I do to clear this up?

Wireless cutting out while using (not in sleep)

in the past hour and a half I have dropped a wireless network connection 4 times. oops make that 6 it went down again twice while I was typing this.
1 time is simply disconnected and all i had to do was click on the airport icon and select my network
the other 4 times I clicked on the airport icon and no networks were listed (there are normally 3 all secure including my own) I had to turn airport off and back on to see the networks again.
I know its not my network because I have an old PC with an even older (5 years) B USB wireless that's staying on the network.
Has anyone had a problem like this and if so what did you do to correct it? I know I have read people not reconnecting to a network from sleep, but I don't think I haven't read any issues about MBPs not even seeing networks (though I may have missed a post or two)

Yes. I have had a problem with the 17" MBP and Airport Express drop. The problems seem to get worse. I have a PowerMac G5 and experienced no problems with it until recently. The Airport Set Up Utility is not functioning properly and the wireless system is becoming more eratic. I have a ActionTec (Verizon) Router as the main base station with two Airport Express stations. I have worked with both the Verizon and AppleCare tech support who cannot fix it. When I try to change the channel via Airport Utility, the window with the drop down menu to change channels dissappears before I can get my cursor to it. Now I have trouble getting one of my Airport Express stations to be re cognized and when I do and try to join it to an existing wireless network, it goes through the uploading and at the very end I get an error message. I got a second error message last night--cannot remember, as I worked on this for over 3 hours. This is what I mean by problems multiplying.
I do feel that MBP is somehow contributing to the problem but the Airport Express--great idea--has always had dropping issues with me that I thought were remedied until I got my MBP and now it is a real mess.

IPhone 6 volume cuts out while watching videos

I Am not entirely sure when It started but it's pretty much been since I got my phone. I will be watching a video on my phone and suddenly the volume goes out and then very slowly gets back to original volume. Very frustrating when a 1/4 into the video it just goes quiet. I miss important things sometimes because of it. has anyone else had his problem or is there any sort of fix for this?

try check your video player's settings. if that dosen't help, the worst thing you could do is to change auto-lock to "never" in phone's settings -> general.
