Guitar Rig 2.2 as a plug in?

Does Garageband support plugins? If so, does anyone know if it will support Guitar Rig 2.2 and if so how do I make this happen?

GarageBand will load any standard AudioUnit plugin. Guitar Rig 2.2 has an Audio Unit version which works perfectly (I tried it, it's awesome). To use Guitar Rig, double-click a track to bring up the info pane, then click "details", then select Guitar Rig in the plug-ins list. Done! In fact, you can use Guitar Rig on multiple tracks in GB which is awesome.

  • Using Native Instruments' Guitar Rig 4 as a VST Plug-in

    Hello,
Does anyone know how to get Native Instruments' Guitar Rig 4 to work as a VST plug-in? I scanned the containing folder for the plug-in and Audition said it was active, but when I scroll through effects and selct VST, but when I try to select Guitar Rig 4 it is grayed and I can't select it. What, if any, are some solutions to this problem? Thanks for any assistance provided.

As far as I can make out (although it's hard to tell from their website, which is less than forthcoming) Guitar Rig is a VSTi, not a VST and as such, you need music software to run it, not Audition - which is an editor.

  • NI Guitar Rig Pro 4 as a plug -n for Logic Studio/Garageband?

    Hi,
I have Logic 9 and use AmpDesigner/Pboard via an Apogee GIO for both my guitar and bass - Sounds great. However I've just been goofin around with a mate on his Macbook Pro using Native Instruments Guitar Rig 4 with their Control 3 foot pedal - ummm don't wanna say this but that sounds great too! I really like the interface and patch library and some of the presets did sound bloody great to me.
    So my question is ...
Is it possible to use NI Guitar Rig v4 in Logic 9 studio/mainstage? as a plugin? maybe mix and match Amp Designer and or Guitar Rig in one song? I'm sure I read somewhere that you could use non Apple plugins in Garageband.
    Anyhow

  • The plug-in named "Guitar Rig" isn't available on your system.

Hi, I have recently upgraded from a powerbook G4 to an iMac i7. I my new iMac, I bought the new version of Guitar Rig 4 and installed it. On my old Powerbook G4 I had Guitar Rig 3 installed. My problem is, when I open a Garageband file (ones that utilized effects from Guitar Rig 3) from my old mac on my new i7 GB gives me the message "The plug-in named “Guitar Rig” isn’t available on your system". Shouldn't the guitar rig 3 plugin effects I used on my old mac work fine as guitar rig 4 effects on my new mac? Since they obviously don't, is there a way to import my guitar rig settings and plugins from my old mac to my new one so I won't lose the GR3 effects that I used on my Garageband in my old mac? Please let me know if there is a way to do this, as it would be a huge pain to go through all my garageband files and re-tweak the plugins to get the same sounds I had on my old mac. Thank you very much for any help you can give.

no way I know of other than install GR 3 on the new one too.

  • Controlling a plug-in (Guitar Rig 5)---to changes banks and/or presets

I am trying to control a guitar plugin, Guitar Rig 5, via bank and preset changes---I am going to to this in Abelton and then use Mainstage for some additional sound features not requiring a sequencer.
I am a single acoustic player and I use Abelton to play a backing track and control my lighting, but I am having trouble figuring out how to setup up Guitar Rig and my MIDI channels apparently.
I am looking to be able to change from one guitar patch (like a clean sound) to a dirty sound (lead solo) automatically (eliminating the need to do the foot pedal Riverdance while playing live), but I can’t seem to figure this out after two days.  I see the presets in the list, but for the life of me I can’t seem to make this work.
I dragged the plug in to a newly created "return" and then attempted to create a two new MIDI channels to perform the desired bank and preset changes.  But this did not work.
I then dragged the Guitar Rig 5 plugin into a newly created "audio" track, and tried to do the same thing, but that hasn't worked either.  Under the "send to" MIDI section I can select "Guitar Rig" from the drop down, but afterward I can not select the box below---which I would think would allow me to select the MIDI channel I want to sent the command for bank changes and preset changes.
The goal is to have Guitar Rig 5 changing presets automatically, so I can play through a song and at the appropriate time the GR5 plugin would switch from clean channel to distorted---for example, for a lead solo part.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi
Mainstage will not pass through Program Change messages to plugins. I have not succeded with (quick) attempts to get GR to respond to MIDI CC either.
You might do better to simply make additional Patches (or combinations of Audio and Instrument Patches) rather than try to control GR5 directly.

  • I've lost my Guitar Rig as a plug-in in GarageBand

    Hello all.
First a bit of background. For various reasons I had to re-install Panther 10.3.9 for the time being after trying to install my new Tiger software. This is until my new internet Router turns up (in a MONTH!, thanks BT..).
The consequences were dire. Had to get re-activation on a lot of my software. One of which was my Guitar Rig software, which Native Instruments have re-activated for me.
Unfortunately, my GarageBand 2.02 software seems to no longer see my Guitar Rig as a plug-in and is giving me a warning that it's not there, and it is telling me to re-install GRig (which I am extremely loathe to do after the days & days it has taken me to get NI to re-register it). This is a bit crippling as its THE major plug-in I use in GarageBand, to record all my guitar parts.
If I'm missing a simple solution or if anyone can help I'd be very grateful.
    Thanks.

Could you tell me what the Rewire function is?
    http://www.propellerheads.se/technologies/rewire/index.cfm?fuseaction=displaymai n
Quoting the first part of that page:
ReWire is a system for transferring audio data between two computer applications, in real time. Basically, you could view ReWire as an "invisible cable" that streams audio from one computer program into another.
ReWire was developed by Propellerhead Software AB in 1998 and first appeared in Propellerheads' ReBirth RB-338 and Steinberg Soft- & Hardware's Cubase VST, allowing the two programs to communicate in a way that hadn't been possible before. Since then, a version 2 of ReWire has been released, with several significant improvements and additions. Today, a number of software applications from different manufacturers support ReWire.

  • How do I change Guitar rig patches when it is a plug in in main stage

I'm using Guitar Rig (v.3.2.1) inside Mainstage (v.1.0.2). I'm trying to use a midi foot controller (Yamaha MFC10) to change the patches. Pressing the Yamaha foot pedal sends program change information into main stage, but it changes the patches at the top level of main stage. Also, main stage responds to program change on all midi channels and I don't see a way to limit it to just one. What I'm hoping to do is have the MainStage patches respond to one midi channel, and the Guitar rig patches respond to another. Can this be done??

    Hey Burr,
Okay, I was able to get Mainstage 1 and Guitar Rig 3 talking okay. I'll outline here how I got the two to talk but I probably need a bit more info to address your exact need(s). I've also re-read your posts and I'll take a stab at what I think you might need to do to get set up a little better. The caveat here is that I'm not 100% clear on what you want to do, so apologies if I make assumptions that are a little off
Since it sounds like you want to do MIDI patches and Guitar Rig patches and you're trying to separate the two, then let's look at that, we can always look at combined patches later.
So what it kinda sounds like, is that you're thinking about Guitar Rig at the concert level, the best thing is for you to think about Guitar Rig at the patch level. What that allows you to do is to create two different sets within the concert, one for your MIDI patches, and the other for Guitar Rig patches.
That way, you can navigate to whatever you want (MIDI patch or Guitar Rig patch) and not worry about the MIDI channel separation issue. When you were saying the Yamaha MFC10 was sending program changes for patches at the top level, instead, what you want to think about is using CC's (not PC's) for set and patch navigation and PC's only for direct access to a specific patch.
So, first program your MFC10 to send 4 different CC's for Mainstage navigation (Set Up, Set Down, Patch Up, Patch Down) e.g. you could use switches 7,8,9,0. Then go into Mainstage at the layout level and map the Set Up, Down and Patch Up, Down icon/switches using the MIDI Learn function. Go into Edit mode and test the navigation.
Next, create two different sets MIDI and Guitar Rig.
Then create your MIDI patches in the MIDI set as you normally would.
Create your Guitar Rig patches within the Guitar Rig set. Create separate Guitar Rig patches using the MFX stereo version of the AU plug in for GR. When the Guitar Rig plug-in window opens, select/edit the patch within Guitar Rig that you want to use. That specific Guitar Rig patch will now be saved in your Mainstage patch. Set up a separate Mainstage patch using a Guitar Rig patch for each of your different patches/songs.
Now you can go into perform/full screen mode to navigate to each set or patch using switches 7,8,9,0 (if that's what you used) of your MFC10 and that will call up you patch.
Additionally, if you want to call up a specific patch from MFC10, then program one of your MFC10 switches to send a specific Program Change. Then click on the patch in Mainstage, the Patch Inspector window will open up - now assign that same Program Change number there. Your MFC10 will now call up that specific patch when you press on the switch.
Now, the next thing is...if you then want to modify or express something WITHIN a Guitar Rig patch. Then you first have to program your MFC10 to set up/send let's say...5 different CC's so let's use 1-5 of your MFC10. We might want to turn on/off different effects for example, or boost a gain, or whatever. In this example, we'll choose turning an effect on/off.
So program your MFC10, then go into layout mode in Mainstage and assign the stompbox on/off switch by clicking on it, using MIDI Learn, and then pressing your footswitch to learn the CC.
Go into Edit mode, select your Mainstage Guitar Rig patch, then click the stomp button(s) you just programmed. The parameter mapping section then opens up at the bottom. Choose your Mainstage patch name (appears right under "Parameter Mapping".
Then the next column (to the right) populates, choose "Guitar Rig 3 MFX", the next column then populates with all the Guitar Rig 3 parameters, select whichever GR3 item you want to control and do the parameter mapping. In my test I chose Skreemer On/Off because I mapped my FCB1010 and Mainstage Stompbox to switch that effect.
Anyway, if everything was done ok then when you press switch 1 on your MFC10 it will turn the effect in Guitar Rig 3 on and off through Mainstage.
So now knowing all that, you should be able to map Mainstage and GR to do what you want by just using the same principles.
Sorry for the long explanation but it's the only way to give you the details...I hope I got what you wanted to do after all that...phew
Give it a go and let me know if you have any questions.

  • Need help connecting guitar rig interface to play electric guitar

I am having trouble connecting a guitar rig session interface. Garageband is not recognizing the connection. i have made sure the usb and guitar cables work. i have changed the sound input settings on both the system and garage band. when i plug in my keyboard directly with the usb, garageband recognizes it immediately. i have triple checked all the obvious settings on all devices. It seems that the interface is working, but im having a tough time recognizing it on garageband. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

i reinstalled the guitar rig sessions driver and finally had garageband recognize the device, but still have not gotten input or sound. i have read the manual, but could not locate an answer.

  • Guitar Rig and Third Party Controllers

    For Guitar Rig users
I bought the Behringer FCB1010 MIDI foot controller to replace the limited Rig Kontrol. I have programmed it and it works great with Guitar Rig
I also run Guitar Rig as a plug-in in Garage Band and I can record real instrument tracks with Guitar Rig effects. However under this scenario the Guitar Rig software doesn't respond to the FCB's commands which doesn't allow me to use the expression medal or change any effects during the recording. The GarageBand MIDI indicator does flash when I step on the controller however the sound isn't getting over to Guitar Rig.
I'm very frustrated it over this. Can someone help?
    Thanks
    JG

I think your interpretation is correct. When you get GR you'll find that it has a Learn function so that you can pass to it whatever codes you want. I was actually able to setup several effects on/off parameters, switch GR presets within a bank, the two expression pedals.
When I run GR in GarageBand the GR plug in doesn't respond to any of the commands from the FCB.
Here is what NI's suppport person sent to me:
"the problem occurs due to a Garage Band limitaion which makes the send midi function nearly unusable.
If you plug in Guitar Rig FX on an audio track you cannot send midi to it. And If you use it as an audio instrument you could send midi to GR, but because Garage Band does not support a sidechain function of audio instruments, you cannot record audio. To record audio you need to use the FX version of GR (same as in Logic), but you cannot send midi to an FX in Garage Band.
This is defenitely a big limitation of this host sequencer. "

  • MainStage patches not loading Guitar Rig 4 patches

I'm trying to use Guitar Rig 4 as a channel strip plugin for live EG performance. Unfortunately Mainstage seems unable to properly recall assigned Guitar Rig patches and/or recall screen mapping for those patches. It seems like it only loads the first GR4 patch. If I open up the plugin I see the correct GR4 plugin name but when I double click it seems to then load.
I've mapped screen controls to specific editable functions within Guitar Rig 4's patch. Unfortunately after reboot Mainstage patches do not properly load Guitar Rig patches and screen control mapping breaks.
For instance within a specific Mainstage patch, I have a Guitar Rig 4 patch that has a stereo delay. I screen map to the stereo delay's controllable functions (mix, feedback, etc). I test it out and everything works properly. I save. I restart and then the screen controls lose their mappings.
So what's up? Is it a user error or a limitation between the two softwares?
    Andy

    Hi again,
OK so to map a MS toggle switch to activate an event in a Plug-in like Guitar Rig 4?
    - You have Pedalboard as an insert in the channel strip?
    - You have Guitar Rig as an insert in the channel strip?
    - if so
    - selecect the unassigned button in Manstage edit mode
    -  MS will open the screen control inspector panel below the edit view of your MS edit window
    - In the third tab 'unassined' of the inspector you sohould see columns make sure you're looking at the left most col
    - You will find the name of the channel strip (guitar-1) or something like that - select it
    - The next col will fill with info on the channel strip including the inserts - select Guitar Rig 4- The next col will fill with all the attributes of the Guitar Rig patch you've selected as an insert
    - The list will contain all the controllable attrubutes of the componants that mack up the guitar rig patch.
    - Select the WAH/ON/OFF or what have you.
    - Now the switch in MS will control the ON/OFF state of the WAH efect in that Guitar Rig patch.
The same process works for rotary knobs so you can have MS contol the ON/OFF function and allow you to adjust say the Gain and Tone of your choosen Guitar Rig effect. Obviously you can use for Amps/effects/Cabs/and even Tapdeck etc.
Once you have a channel strip set up and your happy with the layout of MS you can save the channel strip and use it in Logic and vise versa - so I have started a library when my guitar and bass patches are channel strips.
This is because I mix up componants of the various Plig-ins I have say - Pedelboard => Ampdesigner => Guitar Rig 4 => Amplitube 3 => and Redwirez as a single 'patch'. So playing live I use the appropriate 'patch' strip in MS and when recording the I use same 'patch' strip in Logic.
    Have fun!

  • Audition CS5.5 and Guitar Rig 4/5

I've just installed AA CS5.5 as a trial, and I found a strange conflict with Native Instruments Guitar Rig VST plugin. The software recognizes the plugin smoothly in the plugin manager, but it just stays greyed out, so I can't use it.
I've tried with Guitar Rig 4 & 5, with no luck. Both work perfectly on Adobe Audition 3. I'm using Windows XP SP3 and M-Audio Fast Track Pro with ASIO drivers. Anybody experiencing the same issue?

Okay, I've spent some time this morning looking at Guitar Rig 5 in CS5.5 and CS6.  Guitar Rig can install a lot of flavors of audio plug-in depending on your need.  Audition only cares about the VST and Audio Unit (on Mac.)
There was an issue we found in Audition CS5.5 where some effects don't properly report their channelization.  While not technically an Audition bug (it's part of the VST spec, I believe) we were not trapping these wayward plug-ins, which is why you saw Guitar Rig listed, but disabled.  We addressed this issue in Audition CS6 by catching plug-ins that do not respond to channel requests as expected and assigning them as appropriate.
Guitar Rig is now enabled in Audition CS6 VST Effects List
More importantly, Audition CS6 opens up some pretty impressive effect channelization options which allow you to route the channels of a file into an effect in any manner you like.  This allows you full control over which channel is assigned to which effect input, and which channel the output should be applied.
Feeding a 5.1 file into a Mono effect now enables precise control over channel routing.
Full control over 5.1 files into 5.1 effects as well.  Any combination of channelizations and effects should work well.
Lastly, here's Guitar Rig 5 running in Audition CS6.  While it definitely works, I do not recommend modifying this particular guitar track.  Much like trying to pitch correct Freddie Mercury, Keith Richards guitar work does not benefit from additional processing

  • Guitar Rig/Monitoring Problem

I'm running the newest version of Locic Express and I'm having a bit of trouble. I have a guitar hooked up through the GuitarPlug device, which gives me zero latency...which is great except that I can't hear it when I'm recording with it. How do I monitor a track that I'm recording in?
I have the GuitarPlug running the guitar's audio signal into the Mac through USB. I also have those nice Bose USB speakers/sub plugged in through a USB on the back of the Mac. I've tried using it in GarageBand with Monitor turned on and I can hear my guitar just fine. I figured I would just have to click a switch somewhere in Logic on the track to enable monitoring of the track I want to record my guitar to. Can't seem to find it though.
On top of that, I can't get GuitarRig to even recognize my GuitarPlug. Under Outputs it lists my Bose Speakers, which is correct. However, under Inputs it says there's nothing connected. I've tried unplugging the GuitarPlug and rebooting, but nothing seems to let GuitarRig recognize the instrument. What am I doing wrong? I'm so used to Ableton Live that Logic is driving me CRAZY!!!

Dunno, I don't have Guitar Rig. Does the manual cover it's installation? Try asking over on the NI forums as well...
ALso, if you are using a different audio device for input and output, you may need to setup an aggregate device in the AMS, then select that aggregate device in Logic as your audio driver.

  • Guitar rig clips on playback

    Hi there,
Been using Logic for years.  Just got Komplete 7 and everything is beautiful, except one thing.
When I have Guitar Rig 4 being used as an amp processor on either bass or guitar tracks, it clips Logic everytime I stop and start the playhead.
I've tried everything, no problem on the source audio file when the plug in is disabled.  No problems when playing back the whole audio file, just when I start and stop.
    Any ideas,
    Cheers.

    Hey man,
Thanks for the response, but yes, I've tried multiple different buffer settings, even tried different sample rates and bit depths just to see what happened.
It's bizarre, like I said, the clipping only happens when Guitar Rig is in the playback signal chain.
I've even purged all unused samples form Battery and other Sampler instruments in my session.
It's really annoying because all the other N.I plugs are great and work fine.
I did find an exact same problem on another forum but no resolution was offered, simply turn off the plug in.
    Thanks anyway.

Will be forever in-debt to your advice.

hmmmm... is the AU in the proper folder?
    HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components
Do your other plug-ins work that are in the folder? Something is wrong and it might be something simple... Does the Standalone App work OK? You sound like you're probably "hip" on the whole plug-in thing so I'm not talking "down" to you or anything like that but it has to be something 'eh. I've used GR since version 2 and never had any issues. I'm on a 1st Gen Imac G5 so mine is PPC not intel but maybe someone else can CHIME IN concerning the Intel thing. We'll figure this out or DIE trying! There are some really brilliant dudes in this forum so be patient - they'll troll by soon
