Guitar to Keyboard note conversion ?

Hello all. I am new to GB 3. I love it thus far. I am a self-taught guitar player. But currently do not own one. I am temporarely stuck with the musical keyboard function unfortunetly. Not ever having played a keyboard I am having trouble making a G via musical keyboard sound like a G via guitar. In simpler terms, I do not know where a G chord would be on the keyboard or what key sequences I would need to press to create a normal G note. Is there some kind of conversion chart, standard setting and/or GB trick fo GB 3 that would help me? What part of the musical keyboard would I play to get a guitars standard chord A-G? And how would I set that up when I made a new project? Thanks for the help in advance!

A word about guitars: It is very hard to make a software instument guitar sound like a real guitar - the different sounds you make when you're strumming, picking or playing solo are just hard to reproduce with a single sample. For rhythm guitar it adds a lot to the credibility if you layer the chords not as a simple triad (like G-B-D) but the way they are actually voiced on a guitar, e.g. the G-B-D-G-B-G for the open G chord that I mentioned above.
(An experienced guitarist will hear what chord is played even without an absolut pitch ability, just because an open G chord has a very different characteristic from a D chord, for example.)

  • Keyboard not disabling past 180 Degrees (Yoga 13)

The keyboard on my Yoga 13 is (apparently ouf of the blue) not disabling when I open the Yoga passed 180 degrees.  It doesn't shut off until the Yoga is nearly fully folded back on itself (tablet mode).  This is a big problem for me as I love using the Yoga in stand mode on my lap when sitting in my recliner.
    Any way to adjust this?

    hi slydog75,
    Thanks for Posting,
    I personally would suggest
Going into Device Manager and uninstall the Drivers under Sensors
Then Restart the computer the reopen device manager see If the sensors are back then try the Keyboard again

  • Keyboard not responding after OSX 10.7.4 update

I have just installed the OSX 10.7.4 update.
About 12 hours after installation the screen dimmed with a message that I need to restart the computer. I did so and now after startup I get a message on the screen that the Bluetooth keyboard can't be found. I actually have a hard wired keyboard, not a Bluetooth one, but there is no response to keys on the keyboard and I can't get rid of the screen message, even after a restart.
So I can't start in safe mode or anything like that because the keyboard doesn't work. Any ideas on how to get around this?

Thanks for the suggestions, but the keyboard was connected to a built-in port.
When I came back to the computer about an hour after the problem appeared, the bluetooth message had gone and the normal keyboard was working again, so I could log in. I checked Bluetooth in System Preferences and found there was a "phantom" wireless keyboard listed, that I had never installed. I removed that from the list so hopefully the problem won't re-occur.
Not sure whether this problem was related to the update, but from other posts, it appears to have caused a number of issues.

This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Hi - I have the exact same model as your MacBook and had a few questions as mine is acting up. I upgraded the ram to 8gb (2x 4GB ram) and ever since then my computer has not been running as smoothly and the start up time is horrendous. Have you encountered this problem? And if so how did you fix? What would you advise me do?
I was thinking of reverting back to the original factory 4GB then rebooting the entire computer. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

After I updated, everything seemed ok and then all of the sudden I rebooted and only the f1 – f12 row would work. I resorted to resorted to unplugging and removing the battery and it would work for a short amount of time. This has been reported on other laptops as well, see here.

  • Wireless keyboard not sync

wireless keyboard not syncing, comes up located and then not found

Try resetting your SMC and keep any other keyboards turned off or unplugged when you start the computer up, being sure also to have the new keyboard turned off during startup.
Since no keyboard will be detected, the iMac will prompt you about pairing a keyboard. Once you see that prompt, turn the keyboard on, and it should walk you through the pairing process.
To find out how to reset the SMC, follow http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964.
Give it a try. Good luck, and keep us posted.

updated iphone 5 to iOS 6.1.3, now I am having trouble with keyboard not responding correctly and screen zooming in by itself...
    Buttons pressing themself...
Also, my main screen is permanently zoomed in...
    suggestions?

Double tap the screen with THREE fingers, that should get it back to normal again.
Then go into Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom > OFF.
Not too sure about the keyboard and random button presses though.  Back it up and restore from iTunes, see if that fixes it.

  • What would cause my keyboard not to respond on a laptop connected to a monitor?

What would be the cause to my keyboard not responding when I start my computer. I am on a MacBook that is connected to a monitor and initially the keyboard does not respond. Periodicall when switching from the laptop USB, which I did for functionality, to the monitor USB, it solves the issue. But the issue recurs on a daily basis. Anyone have an idea? I am thinking it's a configuration issue but I am not an expert. The monitor was swapped out thinking it was the USB ports but it is occurring on the substituted monitor as well.

    Hey robofife,
This article has some instructions for you regarding the use of an external keyboard in closed clamshell mode on your computer:
Mac notebooks: How to use your computer in closed clamshell (display closed) mode with an external display
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3131
If you are using a wired keyboard and mouse:
Make sure the computer is plugged in to an outlet using the AC power adapter.
Connect a USB keyboard and mouse to your computer.
With the computer turned on connect the Mac notebook (using the appropriate Apple adapter if necessary) to the appropriate port on the external display or projector and turn the display or projector on.
After your computer's Desktop appears on the external display, close the computer's lid.
    When you close the lid:
In OS X Lion and later, the external display will change to a blue screen, then will show your desktop.
In Mac OS X v10.6.8 and earlier, wake the computer up by clicking the mouse button or by pressing a key on your external keyboard.
You should now be able to use your Mac notebook as you normally would, with a USB keyboard and mouse.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

  • USB Keyboard not working after running Monolingual

Okay, I'm not a Mac person and should have known that I was going to mess up my mother's iMac, but here it is -
In an attempt to improve the mac's performance I performed all of the actions described in the following article: 11 Ways to Optimize your Mac's Performance     ( http://lowendmac.com/eubanks/07/0312.html ). Basically, I cleaned up files and 'other' system preferences. Things seemed to be fine and the computer did run much better. However, after running Monolingual and deleting what I understood to be 'unnecessary' PowerPC files the standard USB keyboard is no longer working.
I've tried to search for various remedies, but have come to a dead end. So I'm left with reinstalling the Snow Leopard OS (I think it is 10.6.8?) BUT I can't because it is asking to input the account password (which I know) to make the change and I can't figure how to do that when the keyboard not working.
    Any help would be great!
    *feeling like a bone head*

How are you trying to reinstall Snow Leopard? If you're booting from the Snow Leopard or iMac Install DVD that came with the system then that should eliminate any of the issues you may or may not have caused when you deleted did the clean up work on your mom's system.
    I suggest trying the following:
    0) Verify that the caps lock key is off. It can make inputting passwords difficult if you don't realize it is ON.
    1) Reset the PRAM by restarting the system then quickly press the command-option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears. Wait until you hear the computer restarts two times as indicated by the startup chime. For more info refer to http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379.
    2) If the issue persists after the PRAM reset then boot from the Snow Leopard or iMac Install DVD, whichever you have. Once you see the menu asking you to choose a language try using the arrow keys on the keyboard to move the language choice selection. If the arrow keys are working at this point it indicates your keyboard is at least partially functional. Go ahead and select the language then proceed to step 3.
    3) Once the next screen appears move the cursor up to the menu bar area and pull down the Utilities menu. Select the 'Terminal' application. Once the Terminal application launches try typing the various keys on the keyboard and check to see if the correct characters are displayed. Please let us know if you detect any errors. If there are no errors then you should be able to quit the Terminal application and proceed with reintstalling the OS.

  • Keyboard not detected while installing

    Hi All,
    I have a HP netserver lp1000r machine.
I want to install solaris 10 on it.
The keyboard works fine for installation of other linux distros like Ubuntu server etc.
It works fine while i am configuring the BIOS.
Some how the solaris installation program is not able to detect it.
the keyboard is a normal PS/2 keyboard and works fine on the same machine for other linux distros and BIOS too.
Can any one tell me how to solve this problem as I am really eager to get some solaris experience. I will be using this machine for DHCP, DNS caching, proxy and other purposes.
    Regards

I have been scouring the internet on my limited dial-up connection trying to find someone who had a definitive solution to this problem which I too have been stuck with.
What finally resolved this keyboard problem during that critical stage in the win xp setup was by:
    1. Going to System Preferences>Keyboard and Mouse and check-marking "USE ALL F1, F2 ETC. KEYS AS STANDARD FUNCTION KEYS (when this option is selected, press the Fn key to use the special features printed on each key)" Before starting up Boot Camp,
    2. and Unplugging the Mighty Mouse from the keyboard while my mac was rebooting.
Switching out the apple keyboard for a standard USB keyboard did not work (perhaps in hindsight, i should have plugged it in first before boot camp rebooted and tried to install win xp;)
    Attempting time after time again did not solve the issue;
    Neither did doing all the software updates, firmware updates and such while borrowing an ethernet cable connection from my local library;
    I did not need to find another Win XP with SP2 nor did I need to find a USB keyboard;
Not even updating my Mac OS X from 10.5.2 to 10.5.5 or installing the new firmwares for the Apple aluminium keyboard was necessary it seems.
Just a simple checkmark to make the apple keyboard's F-keys primary and unplugging the Mouse from the keyboard before the WinXP install kicked in, allowed me to press Enter to proceed with the installation.
I also turned off the special functions of the mighty mouse like the center click and roll ball, but I felt obligated to post the solution to this problem - Do as you would be done by.
Hope this helps others who encounter this same problem, please confirm if I am correct. Good luck.
