GW7 Netware to OES2 Linux

Is it necessary to use the GroupWise migration utility or dbcopy for that
matter to migrate Gwise?
What if my Post Office and Domain is on one volume - is it not easier then
to just use the "Migrate Netware Volume" tool from within Yast? Or is it
still the case sensitivity issue that comes into play?

Nope....What Greag says......
You'll have to use either the mig. utillity for GW, or run a GWCheck
with the "StoreLowerCase" option.
Consider this...
Linux is case sensitive when it comes to the filesystem, where Windows
and Netware isn't.
Within GroupWise, there's some databases, that stores info regarding
the files within the PO structure....
As such, both the filesystem as well as the internal of those databases
has to be converted to lower case.

Thanks Tommy.
So in a cluster migration, you'd have to be insane (IMO) to migrate the files, when you could just mount the volume and run the gwcheck (it would take many hours to migrate 150 GB of data when you could just mount the volume).
The assumption of course is if you're needing/wanting to use NSS (which if you're on NCS on NetWare you already have NSS).
Since I can't find my brainshare docs (right now), IF you're using NSS on NetWare and you simply wish to mount the NSS volume on OES2 SP1 Linux then can you basically follow these steps:?
1) Install OES2 SP1 Linux and the GroupWise code
2) Mount the NSS volume on OES2 SP1 Linux
3) Run the gwcheck utility with the storelowercase option
4) Then go into consoleone and adjust the IP (If necessary) and the data paths (if necessary)?

  • NSM does not create homedirs in an OES2-Linux-Cluster

    Our situation:
The NSM Engine 2.5.1.1 (Jan 12 2010 15:30:55) is running under Netware6.5SP8, on the same server are also a NSM Event Monitor and a NSM Agent. We have a second server under SLES10SP3/OES2a with the Agent and Event Monitor running. While both Event servers can be seen with the NSM-Admin appliction the agent server configuration window displays only the Netware server, and the "eligible agent server" list consists only of Netware boxes.
The Netware and the Linux server contain both the complete replica of all partitions of our NDS-tree. Because we are on transition from Netware to Linux we deploy both Netware and Linux clusters (NCS)
    The problem:
On our Netware-cluster (NW6.5SP8) NSM is able to perform all operations (create homedir, move homedir, delete, browse with the Path Analysis tool). Neither does the Linux cluster. No homedirs are created. While the clustered volumes occure in the volume list, with the Path Analysis tool it isn't possible to browse these volumes. No directory tree of these clustered volumes is displayed, but an error message instead: "Policy paths are unreachable". Non clustered volumes on the Linux boxes (including NSS-Volumes SYS and VOL1) can be browsed with the Path Analysis tool.

    Hello,
I applied the last updates (no more warning signs in NSM-Admin-Tool) and after this the agent hosted on the linux box is visible in the Admin-Tool.

  • Migrate cluster to OES2 Linux and new storage

    Hi,
I want to migrate a 4 node OES2/Netware NCS cluster to a 4 node OES2/Linux NCS cluster. The storage also has to migrate from old to new storage. The two storage devices are not connected to each other, so I figured a rolling migration is out of the question. So I will build up the new cluster, migrate all resources with the tools provided by Novell and some manual changes.
The cluster hosts several volumes, DNS, DHCP, GroupWise and ZENworks. I don't see much trouble in the migration of DNS, DHCP and GroupWise, but changing references to all ZEN objects is a tedious job.
To minimise the necessary changes in ZEN objects, login scripts etc, I would like to know if it is possible to rename/renumber the new cluster after everything has been migrated and give it back the old name and ip numbers. If not, what would be the best approach?

I'm not sure how well eDir works in this case. Typically, creating a NEW volume (even with the same name) will not automatically re-link the eDirectory objects.
    Example:
You have a ZEN NAL object that deploys a network-based MSI like:
    \\server1\vol1\data\something.msi
You now create a new cluster object and a NEW virtual server\volume object. I'm not sure you can create a NEW virtual server object with the same name as the old one (I could be wrong--I've never tried it). I guess it would be possible if it was in a diff. eDir container.
Regardless, even if you CAN create a new \\server1\vol1
It's going to have a different GUID in eDir and the eDir objects that WERE using the "old"
    \\server1\vol1
are not going to magically know about the new stuff.
Now, from a CLIENT perspective, the Novell Client (assuming 4.91 SP5 here) would happily map to the "new" one with the same name and not be any wiser.
But the home directory attributes on users, and ZEN objects WILL know the difference and you will have to re-edit them all.
It's possible that SOME ZEN NAL objects will just pass along the stuff to the client, in which case, IF you can keep the UNC path (or mapped drive letter) the same, then you should be good to go. But not all ZEN objects are created equally (ie, your ZFD inventory object, server objects, etc.)
Login scripts can easily be adjusted (just depends upon if you have LOTS of them to do or not as it can be time consuming).

  • Setup DHCP on OES2 Linux for Avaya 5610 phones

I'm trying to setup DHCP on a OES2 Linux server and can't seem to get the phones working. PC on the network will get addresses but the phones will freeze/lock up on DHCP.
    My network is as follows:
    10.10.1.x(vlan=101) = data
    10.10.2.x(vlan=102) = voice
    10.1.10.x = servers
    Novell servers running on SLES 10 SP2 x64 with OES2 SP 3 x64
I've created a dhcp service (dhcpsrvs) and 2 subnets (10.10.1.0 and 10.10.2.0) and a pool in each subnet (datapool and voicepool). In the global options I created a string option called SSON176. In the options for subnet 10.10.1.0 I've added option 176 with params L2Q=1,L2QVLAN=102. In the options for subnet 10.10.2.0 I've added 176 with params L2Q=1,L2QVLAN=102,MCIPADD=10.10.2.1,MCPORT=1719.
I've been able to get it working on a Win2k3 server but that server was a temporary quick fix. I need to bring that server down soon and would like to get it working on my Novell server.
Can someone help me figure out what I've done wrong or left out?

  • Netware to OES2 ID migration WITHOUT using MIGGUI?

    Everyone;
I have been able to use the migfiles command, and the iprintmig command to successfully migration files and printers
from a Netware server to an OES2 server. For me, this is just so much faster and easier then trying to use the miggui

My issue is I want to complete the ID migration from Netware to OES2, without having to use the miggui wrapper. (it's a

Has anyone figured out the necessary scripts/commands/syntax to migrate from Netware to OES2, without having to use the

    Thanks

  • File Reporter - NSS file owners on OES2 Linux

Does file reporter have the ability to report on NSS file OWNERSHIP on OES2 SP1/SP2 linux without having to rely upon LUM-enabled users?
(in other words, NSS itself has this information but "pure" linux things do not know about these without enabling LUM for every user in your tree for every server).

NFR, when using the agentncp, does not have any information that is not available to the ncp APIs. The NCP agent does not know about the "linux" ownerships, only DS based ownerships. If you want the two ownerships to match, LUM is required.

I don't believe (I could be wrong) that you can take the trustee.nlm and save the output in a format that OES Linux will understand (the OES LInux uses a .xml format which I think is different)
You could manually read through the file (that NetWare generates) and figure out if you wanted to manually reassign them
Or you could use the miggui (migration utility) on OES Linux to migrate the data (and trustees) from NetWare.

  • OES2 Linux iPrint on VMWare

I am looking for pepole that are running OES2 or OES1 Linux iPrint on VMWare and if you have ANY iPrint issues and what they might be.
    Thanks

I am in the process of migrating iprint from a NW6sp6 server to a OES2-L server running on esx 3.x. The OES2-L server is running the i manager, driver store, and manager. It has a copy of the partition that contains the print objects. It services about 250 printers. I used SCMT to migrate the objects.
I did have some problems after the migration. All the printers seemed to have migrated OK but after I made the DNS change to get the users printing through the new server, I started seeing stability issues with the manager and corruption of the gateway load strings of the printer objects. I had not checked the gateway load strings after the migration and for the first few days when I was seeing problems I thought that a few of the printers had not migrated properly. Finally after I had a problem with one of the printers twice I came to the conclusion that it was not a migration issue. I after fighting it for a few days I migrated the users back to the old server by changing the DNS.
TID (3006957) talks about ipsmd stability issues with the RPM dated April 22, 2008. That was the rpm I was using. I deleted all of the migrated print objects, and the migrated manager. I then upgraded to the newer RPM listed in the TID after I got it from Novell. I then remigrated the manager and all of the printers and am monitoring to see if the corruption reoccurs. At this point I am suspecting that it is. Note the at the end of the gateway load string. iprintgw PORT=LPR HOSTADDRESS=10.70.4.50 PRINTERNAME=PASSTHROUGH That shows up if I look at the properties of the printer object or if I look at the printer agent list on the Manager. It is not showing up in the load string if I run a report from the manager health monitor. I'm not sure if is is supposed to be there or not. I'm not seeing the partial or missing load strings I was before. The stability problems I had where the manager would just crash didn't show up over night or over the weekend so I think it occurs when the server is under load.
Other than scrapping OES2-L and loading a NW6.5sp7 server and migrating to it I'm not sure what the fix might me at this point.

  • Bind exclusively on OES2 Linux?

    Is the ConsoleOne setting:
    Bind Exclusively to TCP/IP Address
supposed to actually work if the agent is Linux on OES2 SP1 Linux?
I ask because even though I've specified the secondary IP address, netstat -atune shows it's binding to 0.0.0.0
All my other changes (IP address, port numbers, etc.) are taking effect, just not the "bind exclusively".
    If I use the --ip-
    switch
    Then it seems to behave

I've found that when running agents on Linux the settings do sometimes not get synced properly from ConsoleOne/eDirectory. I would update the POA/MTA config files as mentioned and run like that.

DNS is basically a no-brainer, as it's exactly the same product as in
Netware. That said, create a new server, assign the existing zones to
    it, done.
DHCP is entirely different. It needs to be migrated, or redone. And it
lacks some features Netware DHCP has. Managing the leases in a GUI for
instance. If you want/need to delete an IP, you have to do that by
    editing files in OES.

    Hi.
I'm trying to move iPrint of our OES1 cluster to a standalone OES2SP1

I get an error in /var/log/messages saying "The iPrint Manager was not

inte "defunct", ipsmd.log just claims ipsmd was started without any issues.
It is NOT running on NSS volume but on reiser.
Googling the above error message gives me to hits neither of which seems

Any clues or anyone have any other way of migrating the printers to a

    According to
    http://www.arcserve.com/us/products/...ns-agents.aspx there is
no Client Agent for NetWare (or OES2 Linux though there is one for
Linux) which fits in with what CA have told you.
However in checking Product Documentation for r15 @
    https://support.ca.com/irj/portal/an...entationSearch (use
Find Other Product Documentation - CA ARCserve Backup - 15.0 - US
English) I came across a Client Agents Guide (Windows) @
    https://support.ca.com/cadocs/0/c013181e.pdf. This is clearly labelled
Client Agents Guide r15 and references a Client Agent for NetWare.
The above would appear to suggest that there is either an agent for
NetWare available for r15 (which CA appear to have told you is not the
case) or an older agent will work.
    HTH.
