GWIA IMAP Client Limits?

What is the max IMAP clients an admin should allow to hit a single GWIA
gataway using default threads?
I'm having serious abend issues and have narrowed it down to IMAP clients
hitting my GWIA, I getting colored debugging screen on my Netware 6.5 server
that I have never ever seen in 25+ years in working with Netware.
I "guess" I'm going call Novell since the only way to keep my GWIA up is to
disable IMAP but I'm not sure what's worse, talking to front line Novell
support or listening to my user tomorrow morning complain that that their
fancy dancy iPhones can't get email.

Oh I was just grasping a straws, I have a ton of word of mouth iPhone users
that they passed the email IMAP & SMTP addresses around and without having
predefined limits on GWIA of who could or couldn't access it, suddenly I
have several hundred IMAP users along with over hundred moblity users.
I running test code from Novell to address the SOAP thread issues which
seems to work, problem was in that first release of this test code, there
appear to a GWIA IMAP bug, newest test code seems to fix the GWIA now, I'm
running 3 days now without an crash and SOAP is behaving ok.

  • Sending to Groups with IMAP client

I have a user that is wondering if there is a way to send to a GroupWise group from his phone using the IMAP client. An example would be a Group we have named "All" that includes all company employees. He wants to send to [email protected] I don't think this is possible unless you are connecting with Web Access client, but it doesn't hurt to ask....
    Thanks for any ideas.

Just to count beans, IMPA isn't relevant here, as IMAP is strictly for
receiving mails only. Sending is SMTP, just like any other sent email to
your server. SO yes, groupwise *can* accept mail to groups, if it's
configured to do so (expand groups on incoming messages in the GWIA).
But of course, that makes those addressable by anybody, not limited to
    "your" phones or clients.

  • IMAP client, delete mail problems

    Hello all,
I am on GW2012 and for a while now I have been having this problem.
Anyone, whether using Apple, Android or any other device/client, that connects to the 2012 GWIA to check mail, if they delete a piece of mail, it is simply striked through and not deleted. It will look deleted on the IMAP client/device, but when one looks at the full client or web client, the email that should have been deleted only has a strike all the way through it. It never deleted until it gets deleted in the full or web client.
Is there a setting somewhere in GroupWise that is causing this to happen?
    Tom

  • IMAP client retrieves garbage

The problem persists in any of the 2 cases - whether we use GWIA IMAP or POA IMAP. The GW version is 7.0.2.
A groupwise user sends a message to another groupwise user by means of groupwise client (7.0.2). I used ASCII characters in the Subject field, so it is readable, but if the groupwise sender types a Russian subject, the IMAP recipient gets a garbage subject too.
Is it a bug? Or are there settings to avoid that behaviour?
There is no problem If the sender has "Windows default" as the setting of "Send Mime Encoding" in his groupwise client. The default is UTF-8, and the problem applies to that setting of the sending GW client.

  • No Attachments with IMAP Client

We are having an intermittent issue where we cannot see attachments using an IMAP client. I thought this might've been a NotifyLink issue, but we still have the problem when using Thunderbird via IMAP. I saw some other threads about missing attachments with IMAP, but I did not see any addressing GW8.0.2, which we have across the board. Any ideas on how to correct? If I missed a thread that addresses this, please point me to it.
    Thanks,

  • Unity Connection 8.x and Novell GroupWise IMAP client.

    Hi,
Unity Connection 8.x clusters, the customer is using Novell Groupwise for email message store. We would like to setup GroupWise IMAP for them.
However one of the customer's restrictions is that they locked down the end-users computers so that Unity Connection message can not be downloaded into end-user's local PC.
I understand that on Unity Connection COS we can setup the option end-user can only access message header, but they have to dial-in the main-pilot number to retrieve message or use web-inbox tool.
    (1) Is there any way for us to setup the IMAP, so that end-user retrieve message while the message is still in centralized Unity Connection server?
    (2) If option (1) is not possible, can we setup the message folder of IMAP client to a network shared drive such as H, M drive instead of default local drive?
    (3) Any other solution or workaround?
    Thanks,
    JJ

  • Cisco Unity Connection. TLS for IMAP client connections

    Hello!
    I have CUCM 8.6.2.21900-5, CUC 8.6.2ES44.22900-44, CUP version: 8.6.3.10000-20, CUPC version: 8.6.2.20563-1.1.140
Now CUPC successfully connect to mailstore by IMAP. But I want to configure Transport Layer Security for IMAP client connections in order to protect user passwords.
    I have read these guides:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6509/products_configuration_example09186a0080b94d12.shtml
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/administration/guide/8xcucsag175.html
Problem is that CUC doesn't listen port 993 (see attachment), so i cant configure CUPC to connect by TLS. I have tried to configure CUPC connect to port 143 by TLS or SSL. CUPC successfully work and indicate that it use TLS, but it transfer password to CUC as plain text!
So how I can enable IMAP over TLS in CUC?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello!
Problem is unresolved. I have read your article.
    Check the
Allow Users to Use Unified Client to Access Voice Mail box. This allows access to port 7993 and TLS for the CUPC >> client support.

  • Email Sender's display name not displaying/resolving on internal emails with POP/IMAP clients

Here's the scenario. I have two 2013 test accounts setup in Outlook as POP/SMTP accounts. I have their name setup as initials in the outlook account (the "Your Name" field).  If I send an email (Through SMTP) to a 2013 Exchange(Outlook
Anywhere) client, their names resolve to their actual Display Name in the GAL which is correct.  Now if I send an email to another 2013 POP/IMAP user, their name shows what is setup in Outlook which is their initials which is not correct.
Now we are currently in the process of a 2007 to 2013 migration.  I do not see this behavior on the Exchange 2007 side with POP/IMAP clients.  If I run the same test setup with a 2007 mailbox as the recipient, the sender's name resolves to
their GAL display name and NOT the name configured in the Outlook Account settings.  It doesn't matter whether the sender is a 2007 or 2013 account.  As long as the recipient is on 2007 it works fine.
This is all tested using authenticated SMTP.  The only difference I can tell is that the 2007 servers resolve the name before delivering it to the inbox where the 2013 servers don't.
There aren't any GAL or Address Book related issues on the 2013 side.  Full exchange clients or OWA work correctly.

    Hi,
It seems to be related to the permission settings on the receive connector. For example, using a Receive Connector for Anonymous Relay. We can refer to this article:

  • Outlook IMAP client authen to CUCMBE-UC with LDAP/AD integration

I have a CUCME 7.1(3). instlallation which is integrated into AD's LDAP for user population and authentication.  Users can log into the UC PCA (/ciscopca)
and authenticate their username/password against AD successfully.
I'm trying to setup Outlook clients but I cannot authenticate my client when testing the connection to UC. My username's SMTP address is [email protected]
and when I set-up my IMAP outlook client I am using an email address of [email protected], server information for IMAP has incoming and outgoing server address 10.1.1.1 (10.1.1.1 is my CUCMBE-UC address). I am using my username and password which works for ciscopca access (via AD authen). But when I test my connection it just kicks back the test that the log in failed.
Is there a problem with authentication IMAP clients to UC-IMAP when AD auth/integration is used in Business Edition or am I missing something.
    THANKS!!

So, there is one portion of the document that I sent you I'd like to focus in on and ask if you've tried this and, if not,
    please do:
Configure the corporate email address of each user  as an SMTP proxy address for the user. When setting up the Connection  IMAP account on user workstations, use the corporate email address of  the user, rather than the Connection-specific email address, in the IMAP  settings. In this way, users do not need to know an extra set of email  addresses for addressing voice messages in the email client, and are  insulated from changes to the Connection-specific addresses if the  Connection SMTP domain is changed.
In other words, you would have the following:
    AD User = jdoe
CUC User = jdoe (synced from AD)
Corporate SMTP/Email Address = [email protected]
CUC SMTP/Email Address = [email protected]
For jdoe's CUC user account, configure the SMTP proxy address to be the corporate email address ([email protected]).
When you set the IMAP connection in Outlook, specify the SMTP Proxy Address as the connection name NOT the CUC SMTP address.  You would also provide your AD password just like you do with PCA.
Have you tried to see if that yields different results?
    Hailey

  • WebOS IMAP client: No expunge performed

The IMAP client does not appear to have an option to automatically issue an IMAP EXPUNGE after a message deletion or when the folder / program is closed.
This is a serious omission, as all of the messages you delete while using the Pre will still show up in the Inbox when accessing the mailbox from a desktop client.
Please add the option to auto-EXPUNGE when closing a folder, if message deletions were performed.
Update: In reviewing RFC3501, I see a simpler and more efficient option. Just do a CLOSE on the folder when closing it, and expunging the deleted messages is done automatically by the server.

  • 10.6.8 IMAP - Clients can't receive email

I am running a IMAP mail server on Snow Leopard 10.6.8, which had been running fine for 1+ year.. It is located at my residence. Long story short, after a power outage/cable outage Comcast just decided to block port 25 on my residence which made me have to switch my SMTP port to 587. After much muddling around, I got that to go, but now clients can't recieve emails. I have turned on debug logging on the mail server, but I can't see anything to explain it. Eventually, the messages are kicked back to the sender (as a test, I sent from my mobile me account) with the following
Thu, 07 Mar 2013 22:55:56 +000 (GMT) TCP active open: No addresses found for host Error: Connection timed out.
However, I can't see any activtiy in the server side logs. DNS possibly?
    Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Here are the logs from the IMAP (last group of timestamps). Are there any other logs that would be useful?

  • Problem setting up IMAP client that is housed on my MacMini OS 10.6 Server

I can access my mail account on my Mac Mini OS 10.6 server from my iMac. I can not set up the clients on my iPhone (3S) and iPad (Wi-Fi). Both access the sever through the same Wi-Fi circuit that the iMac uses. Both were originally are synced to the iMac. Error message is first
"No password is provided for IMAP account". When the password is manually added then the response is
""servername" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "incoming Mail Server" filed. I have checked multiple times and modified connection settings just to get the same response. Thank goodness the iMac client works. Could this be a mail server setting or a DNS issue?

It amuses me that the email that was sent to confirm the posting of this question had a clickable link. Naturally that link did not work. Cutting and pasting it into FireFox allowed me to complete the posting process. Annoying.

  • Questions about documented client limitations

I set up a 1.4.2 Beehive server so my boss could test it out, and then sent him the end user PDF. Since we're currently using Oracle Calendar standalone, we're primarily interested in testing the time management component of Beehive, and generally via CalDAV clients.
The End User guide mentions some pretty serious limitations, though. In particular
    - only supporting up to 250 meetings per calendar. That's like one week for my boss. ;-)
    - only being able to look one month back for meetings.
These two limitations alone severely hobble the product. Why the limitations, and are there plans to remove them?
Also, how do you do free/busy searches via a CalDAV client, like Sunbird?
How do you search for other users, to be able to schedule a meeting with them?
We're really interested in Beehive since it's claimed goal is to allow the use of open standards-based clients, but some of the limitations in the current offering are pretty severe. We're looking for some kind of confirmation that these issues are on the roadmap to be addressed.
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
    Some comments inline
    >
    - only supporting up to 250 meetings per calendar. That's like one week for my boss. ;-)The doc isn't too descriptive, is it :)
The limitation is not a server limitation per se, but rather a self-imposed limit and it's on a per-client type basis.
Fundamentally, in testing it was found that while some caldav clients handle large numbers of meetings nicely other caldav clients don't do so well. Beehive therefore puts a (configurable) limit on the number of meetings returned to each caldav client type. Note that 'meeting' in this case includes all occurences of a meeting, so if for example you have 20 meetings that repeat every week for a year that's counted as "20" not "20x52" meetings.
I believe the restriction is higher for iCal on the Mac than e.g. sunbird and lightning. Also, as the clients improve their scalability and handling of large number of meetings then the default limits will be increased accordingly.
If you (or your boss) is missing meetings in e.g. sunbird, then please do contact oracle support and they'll explain how to increase that limit for your boss's client (for diagnosability purposes, they'll be missing "this week" rather than way out in the future). I don't know the latest testing results for e.g. lightning 0.9, but I suspect that 1000 is probably still too high.
Even with a pretty busy schedule, 250 meetings is quite a lot. The only time i've seen people hit it is when they have many years worth of non-repeating day events (so for example, ten years worth of holidays for multiple countries where christmas day is not "repeats yearly" but instead is 10 individual meetings/day events.

    - only being able to look one month back for meetings.I don't believe that's true anymore. In previous releases the solution to the above issue was to limit the number of meetings returned by 'time period' rather than count. In the more recent releases it's limited by count instead. I'm looking right now at my calendar in lightning 0.9 for september last year and it looks pretty full (although june isn't very full...)

Also, how do you do free/busy searches via a CalDAV client, like Sunbird?Click on the 'invite attendees' button in the 'new meeting' dialog. enter invitees' email addresses and the free/busy should complete automatically. There's also a 'search time slot' button that'll find mutually convenient times.
How do you search for other users, to be able to schedule a meeting with them? That's more tricky... if you use lightning then it'll pull the email addresses for auto-complete from your thunderbird addressbook. If you use iCal I believe it pulls from the mac address book. In Sunbird you have to know people's email addresses.
    hope that helps.
    regards,
    Richard

  • BCC will not show recipients in Mail app - for IMAP client user

Our office iMac was just upgraded to Mavericks.  The Apple mail app (which we use via IMAP to receive our gmail) will not show BCC recipients on sent mail.  Not sure what other info you might need.
Yes it did work prior to Mavericks upgrade --lots of other quirks that are just user preference issues but this is by far a concern because we need to keep track of school sent emails.  So far the only solution has been to use the gmail client via web interface -- hoping there is a different solution!
    Thanks for any help

John -- Thank you for your reply.
When we send the email we (our user end) can see the recipients in the BCC field (good)
When the email is delivered they (the recipient) cannot see all the other emails (good)
"Susie" (who was on our original BCC list as a recipient) calls and says I did not get the email - We go to our sent folder and click on the sent email to verify the email address we used but (and here's the issue) it says "No recipients"
Prior to installing OSX Mavericks -- it listed ALL the recipients in our sent folder copy of the email (this was very helpful to us)
To date the ONLY solution has been to use the web version of gmail -- My question is (and please know I have done a number of checks on this process) Why did it work BEFORE upgrading to Mavericks and why does it not work NOW?  Our school secretary is convinced it is "my fault" for upgrading the system -- I am convinced there is a user error since she NEVER lists anyone in the TO field
She will NOT use the web interface because it takes "too much time" -- for this my response is -- then fix it yourself! (Sorry 10 days left of school -- tech coordinator frustration creeping in -- tired of id10t erros -- should have waited to upgrade until no one was around and NOT tell them!)
