GWIA not sending mail, receiving works without a problem

Hi,
Just upgraded our entire system to GW7. We installed the GW7 GWIA, and
now mail sent to the internet is no longer delivered. I can see that the
mail is being placed in the GWIA/SEND directory, but the GWIA never
seems to initiate the SMTP dialog, so all sent messages are accumulating
in the send directory. I have checked DNS resolving and this is working
just fine.
I have checked the GWIA log files, but can find no clues to why it is
not sending anything out.
Using GWIA 7 on Netware 5.1 SP8
Kind regards,
Hen

We upgraded the 5.5 GWIA using the copyonly switch as you suggested in your
upgrade guide. We have tried to change some settings and now the GWIA is
only sending and no longer receiving. When i look at the log file it keeps
starting receiver threads. but they never seem to finish, or actually
receive anything. As for the question of Timothy. We have the GWAVASIG in
place to provide Disclaimers to every outgoing message, but we have tried to
turn that off, but that didn't work either.
The logfile shows:

  • GWIA not sending mail to the internet

Let me start out saying that i have no experience with Novell products. I am a person starting a local business and in need for a email server. I have chosen GroupWise 8 for many different reasons. I have Windows Server 2003. GroupWise 8 has been deployed successfully. I am able to receive emails from the internet, but not send emails to the internet. I ether get a error 450 or 550 error. Thats all on the GWIA. I have made a route.cfg. I have no idea if I have the correct IP address of the domain I'm trying to send email to(E.G gmail.com) How could I find out the IP Address of a email domain so I could put in the route.cfg file? I tried doing the ping but no luck. I have everything setup correcly on the domain register side. So, could some please describe what those error codes above mean and how this problem could be fix. Any kind of help will be appreciated. Once again, i have not experience with GroupWise or Novell Products. I'm trying to train myself!

    - remove your resolve.cfg for now
    - When talking of MX records, try to keep it clear about which domain you

able to resolve the MX records of domains you are trying to send to.
    - If both MX records for your domain point to the same host name, then
you'd be just as well off with just one entry.
    - If you have a successful DNS resolution, then it is possible that you
are blocked sending out on the SMTP port. From a command line,
    telnet gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com 25
if you are blocked, you will get a "Connect failed"
if you are not blocked, you should get either a connection refused, or it
    will report something like
    220 gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com Ready
if so, type EHLO to get a bit more, then type QUIT to disconnect.
Let us know what works and we'll take if from there.

Thanks for that! So I did what you told me with the Commend Prompt, and it came back as "Connect Failed". So I'm guessing that this is a ISP problem now? Am I correct?

Mail will not send or receive. It intermittently stops working. Why?

I had problems with sending emails from one server in particular, however, I would ask if you have gone to the page of your server and found specific instructions for configuring your mail. My iMAC would not send out emails, so I went to my (Italian) server's page and solved the problem.
It was not sufficient to let the MAC wizard connect you up with your server, and, indeed, MAIL invited me to consider installing the server's email manually. So doing, my problem was solved.
Your server's page should have a list of email programs (cf Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) , with instructions as to how to configure them. Look for the item referring to Macintosh Mail, keep it in background in order to go back to it as you configure your mail.
My problem was that I could not convince Mail to accept the out connection, but when I eliminated my server entirely in Mail's Preferences, I added that server once again: Mail told me that it could not safely transfer my password and asked me if I wanted to set up the site manually. I clicked on manual, and found very precise specifications as to the number of the port to be used, then instructions on how to find the menu for the out mail, with a particular number I had to insert in the drop-down menu they specified.
It was not as complicated as it sounds here, but requires patience.

    Hi there tamarafromdarien,
You may find the troubleshooting steps for iCloud Mail in the article below helpful.
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Mail
If you can't send mail in OS X Mail
If you receive this alert or a similar alert when sending a message from your iCloud email address in OS X Mail:
“This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The reason for the failure is: An error occurred while delivering this message via the smtp server: server name.”
In OS X Mail, choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
Click Accounts in the Preferences window.
Select your iCloud account from the list of accounts.
    Click the Account Information tab.
Choose your iCloud account from the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) pop-up menu. Example: “Derrick Parker (iCloud)”.
Note: The Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) menu also includes an Edit SMTP Server List command. If you choose this command, be aware that the iCloud SMTP server won't be among the servers that can be edited. This is normal.
If you're attaching a large file
Message attachments can't exceed the maximum size allowed by your email service provider or the recipient's email service provider. The maximum size varies by service provider. Try compressing the filebefore sending it, or send your message without the attachment to verify that there are no issues with sending.

  • Mail will not send mail, only receive.

I have spent the majority of today re-installing OS X and all necessary updates, music, data after the death of a hard drive. Luckily everything went perfectly, except for the same problem I had with Mail even before the 1st hard drive died. Mail will not send mail, only receive.
All efforts time out and give me this message: "The connection to the server mail.earthlink.net on port 25 timed out"
Mail used to send messages, but stopped suddenly in 2004 and has yet to start again. Any idea guys?! I can't figure it out, under Account settings I have necessary fields filled in: Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) is set to "mail.earthlink.net", Server Port is set to 25, and Authentication drop menu is set to None.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    --DANIEL

This is NOT a problem with Mail or OS X. This is an incorrect settings problem - garbage in = garbage out and this information is certainly available at Earthlink's website and Earthlink also provides technical support.
Earthlink has an authenticated SMTP server they changed to long ago.
    SMTP Server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Server Port: 587 but 25 should work if you are using Earthlink as your internet service provider for connecting to the internet.
Use SSL: Off or not selected.
    Authentication: MD5 Challenge-Response
User Name: Your ENTIRE Earthlink email address.
Password: The account's password - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.

    Hi Nuch1,
I found an article that is contains very thorough Mail troubleshooting steps:
OS X Mail: Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3276
You can use that article to figure out what part of the email "ecosystem" is the cause of the issue, and it can also help you attempt to resolve it.
    Hope that helps,

And, you are sure you have provided the correct username and password for you email account? I'm not familiar with Virgin media, so you might contact their tech support to find out why you are having a problem sending mail but none receiving mail. I assume your mail account has always been POP3 and not IMAP. Typically, the outgoing mail servers are not the same for the different types of account service.

Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home/power button until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Have you gone into the email settings and making sure the password are still there?

Re: Macbook Pro 10.6.8 RAM Upgarde to 8 GB
The amount of RAM is not dependant on the operating system. It is all about the model of you Mac.
10.6.8 is the version of OS X that is installed on your system. It has no real baring on the amount of RAM that CAN be installed.
Personally I have never had good luck with Corsair RAM. I have always had good luck with Crucial and Kingston.

Why can I receive mail on my iPad during my visit to the USA but not send mail?

Double check to make sure that your same email addresses are set up on both devices in the Messages settings. Also ensure that you have text messaging forwarding turned off if you do not want to receive them on your iPad.

With sparse information you give I would venture that you have not set up the correct Outgoing Mail Server settings in Mail>Preferences>Accounts. Contact your ISP for their set up.

Translated with the help of Google Translate.
    Mail: Version 7.3 (1878.6)
    Two-step verification set
Since a number of weeks I cannot not send and receive e-mails.
And I cannot find an answer in the support community.
I suppose the cause can be found in the two-step verification or in the TLS certificate ... but in this I am a layman.
    The connection wizard explanes:
iCloud IMAP Failed to log on this iCloud IMAP account. Make sure the username and password are correct
SMTP Failed to log on this SMTP account. Make sure the username and password are correct.
I'm 99.999% sure that the username and password are correct. Those missing 0.001% can be found in another problem somewhere else. Who advises me?
    My settings are as follows:

Yes I have turned imessage off a number of times and that does not seem to he doing the trick, and it is not delivering them then I have to press on the photo and either chose try again or send as text message, I have had the setting on to not allow sending pictures as texts (so they can only send as imessage) since I got my phone in January and it has always worked until now, I have turned that off to allow me to send them as picture messages now but it's still not working over iMessage, I have also tried it using 3G and not wifi
