GWIA sending issues!

Hi,
Not sure if anyone will be able to assist with the information I supply!
We have 2 x GWIA's in 2 different physical locations in London each servicing 1 x domain and 3 x PO's each. For some weird reason one the of the GWIA's suddenly stopped sending outbound external mailo, inbound external mail seems to be working ok.
The GWIA's run on Netware 6.5 SP6 and we run Groupwise 7.0.4 - nothing has changed on our network, our internet links are fine, no firewall changes etc. Our outbound/inbound external mail routes via Postini but their tech support can see both GWIA's communicating with their servers.
I have checked the SEND folder on the problem GWIA and there are a few messages in there of 0KB but not a massive backlog of e-mails.
I don't see anything screaming out "problem" in the log file.
Temporarily I have routed e-mails for the three PO's that cannot send, out via the other GWIA to enable them to send out external e-mail.
Any advice welcome.
Thank you
Mike

Glad that all is working
Maybe see you soon

Pretty much as soon as I did this I was able to send external outbound e-mail - coincidence? I assumed that all the IMAP requests from devices may have caused the problem?

  • Gateway.GWIA sending messages

    Hello,
We are having an issue where our mail server is sending out a lot of message, but I cannot figure out who or how it is sending. Looking at the POA logs I see: Sender of message (message ID) Gateway.GWIA.Domain.
I checked the SMTP relay settings and made sure Prevent message relaying is checked. And we do not have any exceptions.
Is there a way to check the message ID to see more info on who is sending to see if someone internal account has been compromised?
    Thank you,

    Thank you
When spamming you will find files here:
[path to GWIA's Domain]/wpgate/gwia/defer <-- outbound message which could not be sent immediately
[path to GWIA's Domain]/wpgate/gwia/send <-- outbound message which are being sent... now
Take a look at some of the recent files ( they are text files ) and you can see the messages the GWIA is trying to send.
It is unusual for the GWIA to be sending out messages by itself without an actual sender being specified.
In /var/log/novell/groupwise/[gwia_name] you will find the logs. I use the followign script to identify the top senders, in all instances it has identified the compromised account. Its also useful to just to run it occasionally to know what "normal" looks like. Verbose logging needs to be enable on the GWIA. Here is the redacted output:
    Code:
    [/var/log/novell/groupwise/gwia] # ./topsenders.sh
    Top senders from m.edu
    92 [email protected]
    145 [email protected]
    314 [email protected]
    730 [email protected]
    747 [email protected]
    Top senders from anywhere
    271 [email protected]
    314 [email protected]
    328 [email protected]
    440 [email protected]
    730 [email protected]
    747 [email protected]
    and the script
    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    echo Top senders from m.edu
    cat `date +%m%d`gwia.0?? | grep Sender | grep -i m.edu | cut -d: -f 4 | sort | uniq -c | sort -n | tail -20
    echo .
    echo Top senders from anywhere
    cat `date +%m%d`gwia.0?? | grep Sender | cut -d: -f 4 | sort | uniq -c | sort -n | tail -20
Replace m.edu with your domain name, or a substring of it.
If you find [email protected] sending 10,000 messages when she is on vacation... then you have a clue. By default the scriptlet looks at today's logs.

  • Gwia mx issues on win2008r2

We normally run with GWIA sending outbound mail to the ISP's relay host. This works ok. We are planning to change to a different ISP who do not provide a relay host (they say it is no longer standard practice and we should send direct to recipient). I tested by deleting the relay host setting from GWIA in C1 and mail stops being sent (piles up in DEFER).
Our setup is 8.0.2 hp3 on Win2008r2. Single server with POA/MTA/GWIA.
    Logs look like this:
    21:36:18 DB4 DMN: MSG 88302 Sending file: D:\domain\wpgate\GWIA\send\pee51b21.001
21:36:18 DB4 DMN: MSG 88302 No MX records found
21:36:18 DB4 DMN: MSG 88302 Attempting to connect to xxxx.co.uk
    21:36:24 DB4 DMN: MSG 88302 xxxx.co.uk connection failure (8908)
    21:36:24 DB4 DMN: MSG 88302 Send Failure: 450 Host down (xxxx.co.uk)
    21:36:33 E5C MSG 88302 Analyzing result file: D:\domain\wpgate\GWIA\result\ree51b21.001
21:36:33 E5C MSG 88302 Detected error on SMTP command
    21:36:33 E5C MSG 88302 Command: xxxx.co.uk
    21:36:33 E5C MSG 88302 Response: 450 Host down (xxxx.co.uk)
    21:36:33 E5C MSG 88302 Deferring message: D:\domain\wpgate\GWIA\defer\see51b21.001
This problem occurs on all outbound destinations when sending direct (and not at all when using relay host). I have confirmed that the destination domains have mx records and that the server can ping them by name and number. I have confirmed I can ping local DNS (another W2008r2/AD), I ave also confirmed I can telnet to the destination server refered to in the mx records at port 25 and run a manual SMTP session.
So this is not local DNS, not remote MX record configuration, and not firewall blocking SMTP outbound to those destinations.
    I have also tried TID7008142 and 7005218.

Did you restart the server after this? I've seen a restart fix the issue after
    making the TID 7005218 settings.

  • GWIA Relay Issue, maybe the SPAMmers authenticated...

So I was greeted with a lovely issue this morning that is really driving me nuts. My mail system was relaying messages from [email protected] using a valid user on my system (MFouch). The IP address that was sending the messages appears to be in Lagos, Nigeria (41.203.64.250). I have been combing my GWIA, MTA, and POA logs and I am not seeing any POP/IMAP/SMTP auth from that IP address. The valid local user that was being abused "C/S dos" login was getting logged but from GWIA's internal IP address. I attached a MIME copy of the message.
My GWIA agent is setup to prevent relaying. I do allow relaying from some specifically defined internal addresses. I do allow POP3 in, but only specific users can use IMAP4 (silly Android issue). I require authentication for both POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP. I ran all of the different open relay tests that I am aware of (abuse.net, mxtoolbox.com) as well as tried to relay something via telnetting to my GWIA. I have attached my current GWIA flags as well. I just added /disallowauthrelay for now as a test/precaution.
I found TID 7008712 that confused, upset, and scared me all at the same time (GroupWise Internet Agents are relaying emails when they're not suppose to be relaying.). If what this TID says is correct, how can I continue to use GroupWise?
It looks like I have stopped the trouble for now. I added /disallowauthrelay as per TID7008712 (which will probably upset a few people). I renamed my gwac.db in case there was some corruption in my SMTP access control list. I changed the abused local user's password. I renamed all of my various GWIA directories (000.PRC, DEFER, GWHOLD, GWPROB, RECEIVE, RESULT, SEND, WPCSIN, and WPCSOUT) just to give me some time to clean out all of the deferrals, send items, and to be sure there is not a message queued somewhere. Members of my team are scanning the two machines this user uses as a precaution. I have also explicitly denied 41.203.64.250 access to my network at my perimeter.
Has any of the great minds out there in the Novell Forum Land seen this before or can point out my buffoonery?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff

    Hi.
I'm not quite sure where the uncertainty lies. The user yo uidentified
with the logins from GWIA has been hacked, e.g his password probably was
weak and brute forced, or gained by other means (has this user been in
    nigeria recently? ;))
I also don't quite understand the outrage on the TID. It merely explains
what is logical. If someone can authenticate, he can relay. There's
nothing to be overly concerned about, except your password security. You
may want to activate intruder detection... Of course there are other
means to possibly gat to know a users password, but brute force is the
    usual way...

  • Odd Send Issue

    Hi,
I have one user here that everything works fine for a little bit and then all of a sudden when she sends some email she gets bounce back messages. The bounce back message is Delivery to the following recipients failed.
    user.GWIA@domain
I have seen this, I have been there with her and we type the correct email address into the to field and then she sends it. If we look in the sent items and go to properties it shows the above address and not the one that we typed in. This is the only user that we are having issues with. I have ran a GWcheck on her account and I uninstalled and re-installed Groupwise on her laptop. It worked for about a week and I just got informed from her today that it was starting again. Does anyone know what would be causing the .gwia to be put after the username?
    Thanks,
    Andrew Shearer

    * acshearer,
disable frequent contacts for this user, or move it down in the name completion rank order so internal addresses will be picked from the system address book.

    Hi all,
we have a strange issue with only with Outlook for Mac Users (version 2011 and the newest Outlook Version (V15) from Office 365) connected to our Exchange Server 2013 SP1. Some emails which we send out to the exactly same recipient are not sent through our

We have sent 8 emails with subject "test1, test2, test3...". Only test 3-6 was arriving to the recipient. The other emails are in the "sent" folder but it was not sent out through the Exchange.
What we can see with "Get-MessageTrackingLog" is, that the Recipients and MessageSubject are empty for these emails:

  • Hp officejet j4580 Fax sending issue

I can send faxes to 800- numbers but when I use an area code, I hear a ring and then my landline phone clicks on, evidently to intercept the fax and the fax machine rings for a while and then quits.

    Hi there @PGROWTH ,
    Welcome to the forums
I read about the faxing issues you're having with your Officejet J4580 when sending a fax to a number either than a 1-800 number.
I would suggest trying these steps in this guide: Can Receive Faxes But Cannot Send Them
    Also try a power reset:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your fax issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you, such as a replacement or trade in. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and if you are calling outside of the US/Canada region,: click here.

    Hi,
I have an issue in Idoc sender scenario.
The flow is Idoc to BPM to Flat file.
Idoc is triggered from R/3 system via RFC port. It enters XI which is visible in Moni. But data is not there.
Which transaction to use to trace Idoc in XI?
I can see the Idoc successfully sent in we02 from R/3 system. But no data in Moni in main message or attachment.

  • JDBC sender issue no data in PI

    Hello,
We have a scenario Database to SAP we are using JDBC adapter at sender side and the Qos is EO.
Now the issue is database sender complained that they have sent the data from database but the data is not updating in SAP system as a result no Idoc created.
In the DB trace the DBA said that the SELECT executed successfully.
But I checked in PI and no failed or scheduled message in the Component Channel monitoring. The message id is greyed out. All I see is that Polling started and Processing finished successfully.
In SXMB_MONI there are no xml messages.
SELECT * FROM sys.tables works fine and I can see xml messages in SXMB_MONI and also see the audit trace log in RWB under CC monitoring.
Why is it not picking up data from other user tables in SQL server database?
I have analyzed the issue end to end .
Where is the  adapter sending the converted xml messages if it has picked up data? If it has not then why cannot i see the trace and why is the message id greyed out in the CC monitoring?
Please help me to resolve this problem .
    Thank you,

    Please suggest me,
my scenario is also like JDBC -->XI--> SAP( Proxy).

when i checked with SXMB_MONI, RWB(Messages Monitoring, component monitoring) and logs no error message.
DB side it is showing XI_Read time status also changed 'N' to 'S'.

After this change MII does not send email (unknown source error). now MII send email action has ip address or qualified path of Load balancer in MII send email configuration instead of direct ip address of SMTP server. Below is the error message in Net Weaver logs.
MII still sends email if direct ip address of email server  provided but not through email Load balancer .
    Any suggestions ?

  • SAP PI7.11 adapter RFC sender issue after migrating to SAP ECC6

    Hi,

A part of the field in ECC6 are not well mapped by the abapter sender RFC to the xml in PI.
I join a screen shot what I have in SAP ECC6 (inquiryECC6.jpg) and the result in SAP PI 7.11in xml format ofcourse (Inquiryxml.jpg).
Is there someone who can help me?

    Eric Koralewski

In SM59, there is a new tab <unicode>.
In that tab, I checked the unicode checkbox  and that's ok.

  • Mail sender issue

    Hi all
since upgrading to iOS7.1.1 I've had a weird issue. In the sidebar of mail on my ipad2 the sender is listed as the same person for all messages. When I rap on it and go  into the body of the message the correct sender is listed in the "from" line and I am able to reply to that correctly.
I have deleted and added my exchange account on several occasions but this hasn't rectified the problem. This problem does not occur on my iphone 5 (running 7.1), on my MacBook Pro (running 10.6.8) or on the webmail page of my email server.
    Any thoughts?
    Many thanks in advance.

If an app doesn't respond to your input, or doesn't perform as expected, do the following, testing after each step:
    Check for app updates.
    Force the app to close.
    Restart your device.
    Update your iOS device.

  • Evolution-mapi send issue

If anyone is familiar with evolution-mapi, perhaps you can help me. I have no problem connecting to our exchange (2007) server. I have full access to my mailbox and can sync and read my mail. My issue is I cannot send. I get this error message:
Could not send message: WriteStream: MAPI error MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED (0x80004005) occurred
I've tried poking through my outlook profile from windows using MFCMapi, but I don't see anything glaringly obvious that would prevent me sending mail when logged into Arch using Evolution . . . especially as I can authenticate to receive mail with no issue.
