GX60 Destroyer (3CC) VGA Questions

Hallo all,
i bougth last Week the GX60 Destroyer with the R9 M290X Grafikcard.
But in BIOS and Hardwaremonitorprogs it allways show "only" the HD8970.
I know that it is the same chip, but it has little differenz. HD8970 is only DX11.1 and R9 290X is DX 11.2
Its a littel bit confused about that, why MSI says R9 290X but built in only HD8970....
And now a little issue,
i have flashed the newest BIOS/EC Firmeware and vBIOS, but after i do that the Grafikcard now has only 900MHz RAM Speed instead of original 1200MHz?
What is happen?
Why did MSI dropt the RAM Speed?

I must use the new vBios that show on the Destroyer support site, it the .212 Version.
And yes, it still runs at only 900Mhz.
I have tried the 201 and 202,that have MSI send to me. But after i flash the bios, window7 run into a Bluescreen with unfunny noise "chhrrrr chhrrrr, very unfunny :o). I can deinstall the CCC and all AMD Driver an it runs into Win7, but when i install the AMD Driver.. bang... Bluescreen.
I dont know why i cant flash an older bios...
The CPU Power of the A10-5750 is not so very high, so Mantle can show here what it can.. Battlefield 4 runs very smoother in Mantle as in DX.
And yes surely you can add profiles but you must know for every single game what you do... and iam not a Programmer to know what for settings im muste use to run a game "better" .

In the newest Bios he scale up from SATA 6 to SATA 3 for better compability (Had read this in german Forum). I had insert the SSD in PC and have run SSD BENCHMARK and the read speed was at 430mb/s (on laptop ~200MB)

Help me for msi gx60 destroyer

I have the following problems. Please help!
1: my notebook is msi gx60 destroyer
but vga r9 m290x in gpu-z Is not (gpu clock: 900 - memory: 1250), bandwidth : 160. gb/s
my is in gpu-z --> gpu clock : 950 - memory : 900 !!!
what?!!!!
Please help me and let me take a picture of mine(gpu-z).
2:Contrast is the difference in battery mode when the power cable is connected.
Are you one of the numbers is the contrast of the display is higher battery is bad. What can I do?
I have this problem in Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. The driver is the latest version.
3 : How hard Ssd raid, is how to install Windows? I do whatever I want to install Windows from my driver! Where can I get the drivers?

Ok, I got word back from my MSI rep. Apparently, it's a limitation on the RAM that is used for the video card. Other laptops that use the HD8970M or R9 M290X that are not MSI suffer from this as well. This is an AMD goof-up, not MSI's, so don't get mad at MSI. The rep said that they tried to overclock to 1200MHz, but got BSOD's all the time. The rep assures me that the gaming experience is minimally affected (so nothing you'd notice, like 1-2 FPS difference)

GX60 Destroyer issues

Hi there! i have some issues on my BRAND NEW GX60 destroyer. When i'm playing sometimes it just freezes up like a lock up... no commands or whatever (mouse doesnt move, no commands like alt+f4 and alt+ctrl+delete). All i can do is press the power button and shut it down and open it again. Does anyone know how to fix this? MANY THANKS
Note: is this a graphic card problem?, GPU full load? or any other problems i am unaware off.

Try to uninstall the Norton and re-install the AMD graphics driver.
*Before installing the new driver, use "Display Driver Uninstaller" to completely remove the graphics driver.

GX60 Destroyer - installing two SSDs in a RAID array.

I am sorry if this is repeated in another thread, but I am struggling to find any information that could help with me installing Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on two SSDs in a RAID array in my MSI GX60 Destroyer. Windows keeps asking for drivers and cannot detect the SSDs during windows installation.
Has anyone done this before and if so, how did you do it?

You would need RAID driver from AMD which MSI does not offer it for download.

Hi, I bought a MSI GX60 Destroyer 2 weeks ago, and I realized that my internet was a little slow, you don't realize in the web but when downloading it doesn't perform how it should, I tested the speed now with wireless and I got 5 mb/s, and I have 20 mb/s in my house (I also tested with cellphones and other pc's), with LAN the speed was normal, so I saw some forums about the Killer network, I tried to change the drivers but nothing, the wireless is limited to 5 mb/s and now my LAN too.... please help, my phone has 4x better internet than my GAMING Laptop.
Also the Atheros drivers are a pain in the ass it's really hard to remove them.
I'm now with the drivers without the Management app.

GX60 Destroyer Graphics Driver Help

I hope someone can help me soon. I bought the GX60 Destroyer and I love it, but I have one small problem. I can't update the graphics drivers. For games that can use the Mantle renderer, I need Catalyst version 14.2 or later, now when I install a new version of Catalyst, the R9 M290X card, is renamed as 8970M. I thought its not a problem, coz they very similar cards, but when I try to run games with the Mantle renderer, they crash with an error message saying something about the GPU not being available. I've looked everywhere and nobody seems to have this problem. I did flash my VBIOS and everything, and it didn't fix it. Please help.

Thanks, I kinda thought it would still be early for that kinda thing, seeing as there are only about 11 games that actually support Mantle right now. I'll just wait till a newer driver for my device is released. I'll be using the newer catalyst drivers because I find that even though they change the name of the card in the device manager, I get better compatibility with my games and the switchable graphics.

Wrong graphics card in my GX70 Destroyer 3CC

I bought a new MSI GX70 destroyer model# GX70 3CC-203US and everywhere it says that this notebook has a Radeon R9 m290x graphics card, like on the MSI website, the box, and the stickers on the laptop itself. However, on actual system config and device manager it shows "Radeon HD8970m" as the graphics card, which to my understanding is not the same card as the R9 m290x.
Is this normal at all?

Like Pegasus say, use the latest vga driver from msi website should solve the problem.

If you're using the generic graphics driver from AMD, then it'll show the wrong graphics name in the device manager.

HDMI + VGA Question // HP DV7-4000 series.

Dear Friends,
I have a question about usig external monitor(s) with my HP DV7. The specific model # is DV7-4287cl
I have both an HDMI port and a VGA port on this model. I plan to use an external monitor with it but I wonder if it is not possible to use two external monitors with it given I have two separate ports?
This may be a dumb question but I have a specific need to use an external monitor with my notebook, and having two instead of one wouldn't be a bad option.

You can use one external monitor. The hdmi port will provide a much clearer sharper picture, but either that or the vga port will be acceptable. Two outputs is the limit of the video card, and one of those is always the built in laptop display.

I am going to buy a GX60 - but have several questions!

Im a huge fan of MSI products and have decided to upgrade from my CR630 to a GX60. But I am trying to find out what upgrades I can do with regard to storage/SSDs. I keep finding mixed information and I am struggling to clarify what I am buying. The model specifically I am looking at buying is the "GX60 3CC-296UK".
So:
1) Does this have two standard 2.5" SATA bays i.e. one standard 2.5" HDD and one 2.5" SSD? Because I have found one website that seems to think it has one standard HDD and two mSata slots.
2) I have found another website which claims that it can have one standard HDD and "up to 128Gb SSD". Why is it limited to 128Gb on a particular SATA channel? Or perhaps that some websites sell this with a 128Gb SSD pre installed!?!
and
3) Usually when a device has USB3.0, it also has SATA 3. Does this laptop take advantage of the 6gb/s of SATA 3 if I did put a SSD into it? I have found another website which seems to think the laptop is only SATA 2 i.e. 3gb/s.
For anyone who has taken the time to read this, thank you for your time and would greatly appreciate anyones thoughts if they are able to assist!

1) Get used to it. Windows will keep the windows login authentication (any hotmail.com account works btw) in windows 9 and up. It isn't going away. So have fun when windows 7 loses support in 2-3 years from now.
2) As for norton.. you could have just removed it, it is not tied to anything with MSI and really is just a standard free bloatware crap you get in any computer these days.
3) Hitachi has been purchased and fully owned by WD. Your WD Black is simply a HGST these days.
4) The MSI ram in it, is nothing more but a rebranded Kingston ValueRam, so any Valueram from kingston works as long as it uses the same specs as the laptop.
Also turn of Fast Boot in the Bios to allow the laptop to boot from the DVD, or simply press F11

DVI to VGA question

I recently bought 32" Panasonic 720p for the bedroom, I also have my computer set up there as well and I would like to connect it to my G4 MDD FW800 and have a media center set up.
The TV has a PC VGA input and my mac has a ATI Radeon 9600 Pro PC Mac Edition, would I get a full screen HD quality resolution from my using a DVI to VGA cable?

What you need is a DVI-D or DVI-I to HDMI.
The DVI on the Radeon is DVI-I, though a male DVI-D will work with the female DVI-I port.
Can I use what I have on the dual link port of my Mac, or should I get a dual link DVI-D cable to HDMI?
Yes, you can use that port. You don't need a dual link DVI to HDMI, as the TV cannot support high resolutions. The single link male DVI will connect properly with the dual link female.
I use the Monster Cable.
Shop around, as the 2 meter cable can be had for as little as $50.
BTW, quality cables are paramount to performance.

Upgrading y Gx60 Hitman Other general questions!!!!!

Ok first off i love my new laptop had it for about 3 months or so. But couple of things bug me one the single channel ram (its like they are saying PLEASE VOID MY WARRANTY) So im gonna have to open it up and at least put another 8gb stick of ram in it But i also want to Put a ssd in it. Ive been reading on here and want to know about this super raid can i just buy a say 128gb ssd or rob the one out of my desktop and get the drivers and get super raid?? I have never ran raid in a system before so im lost there is it just software or do you have to have the hardware to do it?
Ok also do any modded bios exist or does anyone know how to overclock the APU/CPU its the AMD-A10-5750m. Im sure this rig can hit 3.8ghz or higher on a overclock. My last msi gaming laptop a gx630 i got to 2.649ghz and hold a world record for the highest overclock on air with it for a AMD ql-62. I also got some pretty high clocks on my old laptop a llano A6 3420m up around 2.7ghz up from 1.5ghz. I know this chip can handle more im only hitting around 45-5x C under load. So if anyone knows anyway i can get a little more out of it.
Another questions what is the highest ram frequency you can put in this laptop i read some where 2133mhz. But not sure.

Hi, I think you will need to go to local MSI service site for the upgrade. Furthermore, Super Raid is not only about adding one more SSD but also needs to have a module connected and driver support. So, personally, I don't suggest you do this by your own... hope this helps.

Thunderbolt to VGA question

I'm a new Macbook Air owner. I did previously use iMac at work for a couple of years. I am trying to connect it to an external monitor (Acer AL1702W), using the mac mini display port to VGA adapter. I do get a display on the external monitor, but only in the span mode so that the external monitor is part of an extended display. How do I get it to mirror instead, so that the external monitor and laptop show exactly the same thing? I'm not seeing any option in System Prefs to help with this.

Yes. You can use to monitors on a Mac Mini. You can select to have them mirror one another or at an extended screen/desktop.

A mind bogling VGA question

Ok heres the issue.
I have a Power Mac G5 with graphics card that has one DVI port and one ADC port. I am trying to hook up dual monitors. Now after the apple store told me to buy a 30 dollar adaptor that converts a ADC to DVI-D, i then realized i needed another adaptor to convert a DVI-D to VGA. So my next quest would be to find one of these and where would i find one. Or is there another way around this problem.

I'm not sure whether a DVI-D to VGA adapter exists, as I expect DVI-D (digital) just passes on a digital signal, where as VGA is analogue. If they do exist, they're likely to be expensive as a digital to analogue conversion would have to take place.
By contrast ADC can pass on both digital and analogue signals, so ADC to VGA adapters just need to 'extract' the analogue signal with a simple relatively cheap physical adapter.
