GX600 digital sound output

So i have a gx600 notebook it works great and i love it, but recently I got tritton ax360 5.1 surround sound headset. They can plug into the three audio jacks and work okay although I dont have the use of the microphone on the headset or the surround sound processor that came with. Supposedly the headset works really well with a digital soundput, better than with most soundcards processing it.  The audio processor box has 2 different digital inputs, one plug for optical and the other plug coaxial. The realtek audio manager and the details of the gx600 indicate that it has a sp/dif output, a digital output yet I dont know where it is on the laptop how to use it and so forth.
Can someone tell me how I would convert whatever digital output on this laptop is to digital rca coax or optical?

I'm not 100% sure about this but I think it needs a special optical S/PDIF cable or adapter that plugs into the haedphone jack. The manual is pretty poor on that subject.
I have a portable DVD player that has optical S/PDIF output that requires such a cable.
Your best bet would be to contact MSI about that.

  • Digital sound output only after using Headphones

    i used my MacbookPro 17 2.66
with headphones to listen to music and after i removed headphones there is a red light in the headphone port and only digital sound output option in system preferences control panel
If i reinsert headphones, headphone output reappears
Where are my internal speaker option gone
i have a time machine backup
Can i just replace sound preferences
    Thanks

Generally that means your headphones' plug is not exactly to dimensional stands and has jammed the internal connector in the jack to the "mute" position. The plug's tip-to-shoulder distance seems to be the variable.
I've found with my MBP that, with non-standard plugs, inserting them only until they function--not until the "stop shoulder" hits the MBP case--prevents this. I have an old and cheap set of external speakers whose plug works perfectly. A patch cable I use to connect to my desktop sound system has a non-standard plug, and I have to leave the plug slightly out of the jack to prevent the problem you see. Again, insert until you hear proper sound to the device, not by feel. I've no problems with the plugs falling out using this technique.
The "official" fix is a new logic board but most people are able to free the internal contact by inserting a plus into the jack and gently wiggling it in the horizontal plane. One person recently said he freed his with a wooden toothpick.
If you use anything other than a standard plug to manipulate the jack, be certain it's non-conductive. BTW, if you use the "Search Discussion" option in the upper right of this page and search for "red light" (use the quotes) you will see a number of threads here on the subject.

  • Delayed digital sound output?

Presumably someone else has seen this already, but I could not find any such info in the FAQ or here.
I recently connected the SPDIF output to the stereo.
The sound output there, while good, is slightly offset from the analog output. When running with both analog and digital output active, the digital works as an "echo".
More annoying, when playing video, this means lips and voice are not in sync.
My guess is the offset is something like 0.1 - 0.2 secs.
    Anyone seen(/heard) of this before?
    WinXP, BIOS 2.4, APU 1.0 / audiodriver: 5.10.2826.0000

    Hook,
All this is using the SPDIF output:
I just checked and the delay is greater (and is probably what you are noticing) when you enable the Dolby Digital encoding. If you output Stereo, that is PCM, it will be much smaller. The DD encoding/decoding process takes time.
Sill, you will notice some delay anyway WRT the analog, as your receiver has to process the PCM signal a little, but not as much as the DD signal.
If your problem is lip-sync, set your DVD player to output directly to SPDIF and not to 6 channel audio. Just think about it:
DD track ->SoftDecode to 6 channel->MCP encode to DD->SPDIF->Receiver decode to 6 channel
    VS
DD Track->SPDIF->Receiver decode to 6 channel.
    Hope this helps.

  • Digital sound output from G3 700mhz

Can I output digital sound from my ibook G3 700mhz to my Nad Digital amp, which can input using either optical cable or single digital phono cable?
If so which cable should I use and where can I get one from. Many Thanks Alex2001

Not directly, no, since your iBook doesn't have a digital output, only a stereo analog output. There are external USB and Firewire audio output devices that would provide a digital output, but I can't make a specific recommendation. Perhaps if you ask in the iBook G3 area, someone can make a suggestion.

  • Digital sound output

I just bought a HP Pavilion dv7-1040ew, mainly because of the blu-ray.
But how do I get digital sound out to my amplifier. No use of blu-ray if i don't have DD.

There is only hdmi out and I don't have that on my amp. Please help.
Do I need to buy a extern soundcard? Or is there a cheaper way?

  • Digital Sound Output suddenly muted (though Apple TV is not)

I'm wondering if there's a simple explanation (and fix) to the problem.  Before upgrading iTunes and OSX to the most current versions, I encountered the problem of no output via USB.  That problem I attributed to a broken audio output jack requiring an expensive repair.  But then I discovered that by using a digital plug the "USB Audio Output" automatically appeared as "Digital Output" in the sound panel (of System Preferences).  Problem solved.  Once again I was able to output sound from my iMac to my Onkyo Receiver and Wharfdale speakers (the equipment that's next to my computer).
But now I'm seeing "Digital Out" in my Sound panel with a dimmed, muted speaker icon in my Menu Bar, indicating (correctly) that no audio is going through the output panel of the computer.  At the same time, when I switch to Apple (or Fire) TV in my Sound panel, the speaker icon in my Menu Bar plus volume waves are once again shown in bold black, indicating (correctly) that Apple TV in another room of the house is working just fine.
I confess I haven't tried unplugging Apple TV to see if this would fix my problem at my computer (which sees the greater use by far).  But it never occurred to me (til now) that Audio via the computer's Output Jack and Audio via Wi-Fi and Fire TV might be an "either / or" proposition.  If it is, I can live with it.  If I can have both, that would make living all the easier.
    Thanks for any illumination,
    Cap

I'm back in business.  Something happened, and the digital output is once again pushing audio from my imac to my receiver-amp.

  • Digital sound output is often silent.

Short sounds (email notifications, system sounds, etc) usually don't make it through the digital output (mini-toslink optical cable) that connects my new MacBook Pro to my stereo.
    Here's why:
It seems that the digital-out goes into a sort of "sleep" mode after a minute or two of silence, and then requires about 2 seconds to wake back up after a new sound is played. For instance, if I hit PLAY on a song, it will chop off the first 2 seconds of the song.
Not a big deal for music listening. But shorter sounds like email notifications are completely silenced by this 2-second delay.
This was not a problem on my old (2006) MacBook Pro. It would cut off a fraction of a second of the first sound it played in the morning, but then stay fully on for many hours after that.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Of course the obvious solution would be to simply hook the system up with analog cables, but I love the digital cable for its clarity and immunity to interference (my office has lots of electrical hum).
    Thanks for any suggestions!

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but when I use an optical out for my iMac, I don't want system beeps to come out of my "big" speakers. I use the "sound" preference to "Play alerts and sound effects through: INTERNAL SPEAKERS. I also turn off "Play feedback when volume is changed" to keep it from beeping when changing volume (when not using my Digidesign sound "card"). I also use Universal Access (Hearing tab) to "Flash the screen when an alert sound occurs", which is helpful if you don't want any actual alert sounds to "sound", but still need to be "alerted" by them.
This is also how my new MBP is setup, and I have never experienced the "delay" you speak of on either system.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful,

  • I am trying to get my digital sound output to recognize the usb port

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC
I installed a Diamond Multimedia software and wireless dongle (usb style) to be able to put my screen output on my tv.  The output works fine, but when I select the sound the digital output to usb is not there.  It is to HP dock only. How do I change that, since I don't have a HP dock.

There isn't a USB port on my mini.
Your Mac Mini has at least two and more likely Four USB ports on it. If it has USB3 ports, they are backward compatible to older USB.
Computer chassis tends to use the flat square USB-A connector shape, like the one on a wired keyboard. A USB A-to-B cable or A-to-Mini B cable or A-to-micro_B cable may be needed.

  • Digital  sound on imac?

Can the imac G5 provide digital sound output?

    Smacker,
Yes, your audio out (or headphone plug) can handle both stereo and digital outputs, all you need the proper optical jack for your digital connection.
You will need a something like this for your line out cable:

    Hope this helps.

  • Simultaneous digital & analogue sound output

Until recently I used to have a Powermac G5. I was able to have simultaneous sound output to the line out and digital sockets, but I find in my new Mac Pro (early 2008) this does not seem possible - you have to choose between internal speaker, line out or digital.
Although not a big deal, this is really irritating, as I have my main output as digital, where I play my music from iTunes on my HiFi via a 20m Toslink cable to a high End DAC connected to my amplifier, but when I want to use iChat etc, I just use my JBL Creature speakers. With the G5 I would just switch on the HiFi only when listening to music, but now I have to remember to go to the sound preferences to change the output from line out to digital when listening to music and vice versa when I want to do an iChat.
I'm just struggling to understand why this basic functionality was removed in the Mac Pro.

With an MIO card, this is not something that you will be able to do with a 10 KHz output rate. The way to accomplish this is to generate your analog output using your MIO card, and the digital signal with a PCI-6533 connected to the MIO card via the RTSI bus. The RTSI bus allows the cards to trigger together, and generate synchronous digital and analog output

  • Digital Audio output --no sound

MBP connected to ONKYO HTIB via TosLink cable.
Cable tested and known good, input on HTIB tested and known good.
When Cable (and adapter) are plugged into MBP, Sound prefs panel switches to Digital Output, as does MIDI App. I just get no output of sound. HTIB is set to auto detect DTS or PCM and MIDIApp set to 44k/2ch 24bit. Even though I see light from Output end of cable, I cant get any sound output...iTunes, system beeps, nothing. I pull the adapter and prefs switches back to internal speakers and sound comes out of speakers.
    Any idea?
I have tried all configurations of MIDI App, Sound Prefs, ONKYO input configs. I am at a loss.

I 'm facing the exact same problem here too!
After 1,5 month with my new Macbook Pro 13.3, I tried this evening to connect it with my Yamaha RX-V1800 AV Receiver using the same TOSLink cable I use to connect my Sat Receiver (with the necessary adapter). The sound output switches to Digital, but the Yamaha receiver does not receive any sound! I also tried to change the sampling rate and the bit depth, with no luck...
I guess it has something to do with software settings (or plugins), unless we are doing something very wrong!
I repeat that the Receiver is set to auto detect the signal (I also checked the optical/coaxial setting) and I even tried to use another optical input (although the same input works perfectly when I connect my sat receiver)

  • Turning off the sound output digital out

    Hi,
I am looking for a way to turn offMacBook Pro the sound output digital out , it is always on on my MBP, and apparently it shortcut the internal speaker, and I can use those because of that.
So if someone have an idea it would be really helpfull.
    Thanks,

Many others have had this problem, including me this afternoon. Check out this thread for a semi-fix:

  • No Sound Output with Digital Output Mac

    Hi There,
I normally use my Blackmagic card for sound output on my Mac with Premiere CS6.  I want to work with the digital output on my current project but when I try switching to digital out under Preferences>Audio Hardware the audio still comes out of the Blackmagic card but not the digital audio out on the Mac.  I'm testing with the bars and tone in the browser and my timeline sequence.  FCP 7 works as expected when digital out is selected, and I know digital out is working properly on my computer.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Gerry

OK, sorry it was that I had to switch audio device under plackback.
Perhaps this should be added to the FAQ under No Sound During Playback, which doesn't include the Preferences>Playback as part of the troubleshooting for MAC.
    Thanks!

  • Sound output only has option for Digital Out, no internal speakers, and no headphones.

I recently got a new 2012 Macbook Pro 15" and my sound output is not working correctly. The only option is Digital Out - Optical digital-out port. There is no intenral speakers option, nor is there a headphones option when I put them in. I am running Mountain Lion and unfortunately have tried looking up similar posts with no help. I have attempted to reboot the SMC and perhaps one other trick, but I have not had any luck. If anyone has any idea what I should do or if you need more information to make a diagnosis that would be great! To note, it worked fine when I first got the computer, but when I was messing around trying to hook my computer up to an HDTV (i have a thunderbolt HDMI cable that sends sound as well) I had a couple of problems (I think it was because it was a very old Vizio that did not support the HDMI) and perhaps some of the settings got changed on my computer. Anyways thanks in advance!

    Hi,
That is good news! For some reason I only experienced that for a little while before it straightened out itself. But I know that was driving a lot of people crazy. Thanks for pointing out that 10.6.2 did the trick.

  • Sound output channel keeps switching by itself every few seconds

Hey guys, I have this sound output issue with my Macbook pro 2010 September version that every once in a while, the audio output would keep swapping between headphone, digital output and the speakers when NO headphone or digital output or what so ever is actually plugged in. During this time i am unable to adjust sounds, and my menu bar would become very slow to respond (the sound icon and Soundsource application would stop responding during this time). After a while (could be less than 10 minutes or last to about an hour, it varies), it returns back to normal by itself.
I've read many posts on Apple forum about this issue, but i haven't found a suitable solution. Also, I read that for most, when the audio output doesn't work it would usually be a output socket issue that there is a RED light in the socket. But for me, at times it has a RED light, at times, it doesn't, and sometimes the RED light would switch on and off by itself for a couple of times, depending on how long this issue lasts until it returns to its normal state by itself.
    I have tried:
    1. plugging the headphone into the socket and take it out quickly
    2. Downloading Soundsource: i heard that Soundsource has an option of manually adjusting the sound output channel instead of letting the computer switch automatically, but unfortunately I downloaded the latest (2.5) version of the software and it doesn't have that option on my macbook pro.
    3. I also tried Cmd + Opt + P + R
The result however is that none of this worked.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have both and haven't experienced this at all. Very strange. I do get a lot of random channel changes however when I put my iPad on the remote, the cat walks over it or the dog sits on it.
That being said, I don't use the Samsung remote at all for the TV and never have done. I dislike it and find it unresponsive. I use a different remote to change through the available outputs and the Vision remote for Vision and for switching the TV on and off.
